Never again
Although the food and drinks were good, the service was terrible. The wait staff doesn’t explain the menu, refuses to let you order single items, and pressures into the price fix overpriced menu leaving you with so much food leftover. Gluttony at its finest. They bully and intimidate you and I’m disappointed I gave them my money. We should have left after the first sign of it. Not worth it and there are plenty of other restaurants to enjoy in Manhattan without being treated that way. Stay away.

Terrible dinner. Arriving by chance in front of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, there were still free places on the terrace... we should have been careful. Super expensive dishes, extremely fatty, drowned in sweet sauce and chili certainly to mask the taste. Very very poor value for money for us. However, crowded restaurant, they must like it.

All in all good food, but disproportionate prices. We spent more than €100 each without drinking wine, also considering that the food is served on aluminum plates. The place is furnished in a somewhat sad way.

Possibly the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten anywhere in the world. The xo squid was tasteless as was the bok Choy , the chicken satay was .. well I’m not sure how to describe it. I’m all for fusion and or reinvention but this is just all about the brand and not the food. When we mentioned we thought the food was a bit tasteless, maitre d laughed and joked that perhaps the chef had not had enough wine tonight.. lol wtf. Emperors new clothes 🤦🏻 ♀️

That restaurant can give you an unbelievable experience that can never be forgotten. I really recommend it from my experiment over there after having many great dinners that one was just better than the other. The restaurant has very special meals from the Chinese cuisine.

Monday night to me is the best night to dine out. Usually the service and food are not rushed as no restaurant has a packed house. Not the case at MC! There were more staff than customers so something was amiss. I didn’t face the room so I could only experience the lack of coordination not see it. Food was not as good as your neighborhood take away. Portions are tiny and I felt sorry for the host I’m sure the bill for five people with a few drinks was close to a thousand dollars Crispy beef was more like crispy coating. MC noodles looked great but sauce had zero taste. I only enjoyed the 28.00 dumplings. Duck looked like it had been dumped in a fryer as the skin was tough and chewy. Shop small and dine out in your hood don’t waste your money
Be the first to ReplyVery Good, Upscale Chinese Food
Mr. Chow Delicious and upscale Chinese food is served by extremely attentive professionals in dramatically decorated, buzzing surroundings. From the moment you enter, you are warmly greeted by the polished host. The food is excellent. The lobster appetizer was very tasty. The entrees were great as the prawns were yummy and the filet mignon entree was delectable and a scrumptious standout. The food is so well seasoned, perfectly cooked and delicious. The sautéed vegetable sides (mixed vegetables and bok choy) were also very well prepared. Cocktails are strong. Mr. Chow is NOT your local Chinese restaurant. At Mr. Chow, patrons dress for dinner, professional staff anticipates your requests, and quality ingredients are expertly prepared, all resulting in quite a deliciously delightful (and yes, VERY pricey) dining experience.

A New York classic that is well alive and kicking. Great food, great service, and delightful experience. Even though I was a bit surprised by the general “not packed” all over the City.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food but WAY Overpriced and Service with Attitude
Very good food in an upscale atmosphere. Honestly, everything tasted great and it was great ambience. The problem? The food is WAY overpriced. Even a small plate of chicken in a basic sauce just enough for two people costs $48... and that was the low end. I was driving so I only got soda with my meal and did not realize every small glass of soda cost $6.50. I truly can't remember the last time I ate at a restaurant that did not do refills on sofa. They charge for every possible thing and do so at luxury rates. We had a very basic meal without going overboard in any way and just one cocktail and it was still over $200. On top of that, we found the wait staff rather smug. We had not been here before so we had some questions about menu items and ordering. We felt judged by the responses, with a tone that seemed to be turned off that we actually asked that question. It is a shame because, as I said, the food was very good. But with the unimpressive staff and insanely high prices I will never go here again and I will never recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyWe had to pay for food we didn’t order.
Food that we didn’t order was put on our table. And charged for. The food is definitely tasty, but overpriced. Prepare to pay USD 40 (incl. VAT and proposed tip of 20%) for an appetiser.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming expensive experience!
Seriously have had better for 1/4 of the price. Crispy beef was tasteless, velvet chicken even more so - service was average - requested help with a cab as my husband has walking difficulties “walk down the street and grab your own” was the response. Went to celebrate my birthday and left feeling very flat after what can only be described as an overpriced and underwhelming experience. Mr Chow - please take note - treat your clients as individuals! I asked for the bill and yet you gave it to my husband - biggest insult and very out of date!
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant that doesn’t deserve a penny, horrible manager that lies to your face and treats you like a piece of s***
This is a absolutely honest review of restaurant Mr Chow. I don’t usually write reviews often but this restaurant was impressively bad. Starting of with the staff. The front desk was very nice and welcoming but on the other hand the servants and especially the manager was very rude and acted as if we were his school friends. We ordered the pekin duck ( what their known for ) the duck was 100 per person. The duck that they brought out, looked nice but it was definitely not what they served. What we got served for a group of four was about 300 grams of barely fried fat pieces of duck skin. The kitchen didn’t serve a single piece of meat. When we tried that soggy duck skin we expected for the actual duck meat to be served. The servants cleaned up our table and asked if we wanted dessert. We asked nicely if they served us the whole duck that we paid for ( 400$ ). The manager came to us and made us, look like the fools. He said “ was that not enough for you”. We were really surprised of how rude the manager was. In summary just please avoid this restaurant and tell your surrounding of this horrible place. They will make a fool out of you and scam the total Sh*t out of you. Thank you Mr chow for you hospitality :) Asian street food is cooked better than in this overpriced restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySmall, expensive, tasteless and bad service
The food was served in very small portions at exorbitant prices, $40-50 per entree. Each side dish was at least $11 and was tasteless. One needs to douse each dish with chili sauce for any kind of flavor. To top it all, the service was awful. The servers needed constant reminders to bring the food we ordered. They were surprised that we asked for chopsticks… in a Chinese restaurant! Avoid this place at all costs.
Be the first to ReplyWorst time
We were looking forward for a good Chinese dinner. But it was a bad experience!!! The food was terrible!!! And expensive for what they serve you... looked as a cheap place. But the worse was the service. The waiter forced us to order an extra plate, that we couldnt order just two dishes... and apart from forcing us to order, he rushed us... in a very bad mood!!!!! HORRIBLEEEEE The only good thing was the second waiter, Carlos, who treated us very nicely. Apart the horrible food, terrible service, slow, cold and expensive. DONT GO
Be the first to Replymicroscopic dinners size of tiny appetizer portions
Mr Chow on 57th Street. treated another couple to dinner embarrassed that the dinner portions were smaller than even an appetizer 3 ounces of fish $50. tiny pot of rice. filet was $60 for a couple ounces and grilled vegetables with chicken $40 could not even see the chicken and hardly any vegetables. tasty but totally overpriced and not enough food to feed one person. They need to stop skimping on food. had to make dinner at home afterwards. Sad!
