Morcilla Pittsburgh Reviews from The Last Year
The ambiance here was nice, definitely a cute date
The ambiance here was nice, definitely a cute date restaurant and the food blew us away! Appreciated the clearly explained menu for gluten free options.
Dissatisfied
We ordered five tapas, we received four of them within 12 minutes. TERRIBLE service. The food was okay but nothing special.
I surprised my wife with a visit to Morcilla.
She loves good wine, tapas, and Spanish food, and Morcilla did not disappoint. The wine selection was spectacular, with affordable options. The tapas were also good- we had a nice mix of meats, cheeses, sausages, and pastas, sharing small plates and a couple bottles of wine. The service was great, and our water glasses never emptied. The ambiance was eclectic and interesting, keeping me distracted just enough for my wife to keep reminding me we were on a date. It was a lot fun and I highly recommend it for a nice date night or quick stop before a show.
Came here for my husband's birthday and had a great food
Came here for my husband's birthday and had a great food experience for Pittsburgh. The location is cute, they are a 5/5 on ambiance and the service was pretty solid. We had a lot of food and some of our favorites were the: Oxtail Montadito-as a lover of oxtail prepared both Southern style or Jamaican style, this was an interesting dish. I was not expecting it to be so flavorful by the looks of it but it was very yummy. Pulpo A La Plancha-nice and tender, a unique flavor. Goat cheese flan-my husband chose this dessert and we both fought over each bite. Unique flavor, interesting texture and I appreciated the creativity. Short rib-5/5 outstanding, the short ribs were short ribbing. All of the things you want out of short ribs-it possessed those things. Didn't like: Sunchokes-my husband hated them. 0/5. They were new to me and the server raved about them so my expectations were a bit higher and they did not make the mark. Consistency was weird, taste was fine but bland and I just don't really understand-as a carnivore-why other carnivores would choose this dish when there are so many other outstanding dishes on this menu. Now, as a vegan, this is potentially a different story. Churros-now, I've had a lot of churros in my day and these tasted like they were made with care, like the ingredients were quality etc but the flavor was just not there. I thought if I doused the churro in the hazelnut fondue it would help, it did not. That fondue was not great either, its flavors were muted which didn't really make sense because its chocolate & hazelnut, I was expecting a Nutella-ish taste and it was barely sweet, kind of bitter actually. Not to sound like a grandma but you're pretty close to your neighbors so it can get a bit loud after everyone is 1-2 glasses of wine in, I ended up switching seats and sitting on the same side, next to my husband so I could hear him
Firstly, our service was fantastic.
Our waitress was super chill and answered all of our questions and gave great recommendations. she also gave us churros on the house because it was our anniversary . The food was all good but a few items were worth going back for: - the (sadly, unpictured) oxtail was so incredibly tender and delicious and served piping hot. - the duck confit!!! So good! Sweet and savory. - I absolutely loved the goat cheese flan! I liked that even though we got multiple dishes that were served with chips, the chips that came with each were flavored differently, a nice touch! Initially we were bummed that we were sat right up against a prep station, but it ended up not affecting our experience. Would love to go back and visit with a group. Really good stuff here!
Love Tapas.
Love the service and ambience. The Malbec is good. Resy is a good place to reserve at table for 2-4 people.
Morcilla is a really good place with tasty and imaginative
Morcilla is a really good place with tasty and imaginative flavor pairings. Cozy interior and laid back environment. Drinks were creative and all good-the Suntory Whiskey and red sangria in particular. Food-wise, the crab and salt cad croquettes, braised oxtail, oyster mushrooms, fried sunchokes, octopus, duck confit were all excellent, while the baby back pork ribs were awesome!
I was invited to join friends there and I was reluctant.
I read the menu and didn't understand what they served. I'm not much of a "foodie" and many of the offering were items I never eat. But I went. And it was wonderful! The atmosphere is really warm and the waitress was super sweet and extremely helpful and patient. The appetizers broke the ice. The bread was great and you need to look for the lavender almonds! (I know...WHAAAT!?) I shared Gamba Escabeche and Oxtail small plates with my wife. Wonderful.
Authentic food, unobtrusive service, great atmosphere.
I ordered a whole fish and it was out of this world; so big I ate it three times; you could try anything here and it would be first rate.
Spanish Tapas restaurants in Pittsburgh are so rare, so
Spanish Tapas restaurants in Pittsburgh are so rare, so Morcilla was on my list for such a long time. I'm so glad I finally went -- it was such a fun dining experience :) The tapas here are really interesting and not the traditional ones you see typically. We ordered the Croquetas de Congrejo y Bacalao, Oxtail Montadito, and Bistec a la Plancha. All were really flavorful and unlike anything we'd tried before. The snack plates are all pretty small (2-3 bites each), but the Bistec (steak dish) was a pretty big portion for a small plate, which was a pleasant surprise. Since the portions are generally small I'd recommend ordering more dishes to share. The ambiance inside is really cool -- they have dried meats hanging from the ceiling and it's dimly lit so it feels really intimate and romantic. Service here is exceptional and professional. Would definitely come back. Highly recommend if you're looking for a restaurant with unique and flavorful tapas!
Holy sh*t that was great.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in my life so far. The ribs were an experience by themselves. Our waiter recommended a great red wine. Had the warm bread, beef tartar, cabbage, chorizo, ribs, and octopus. Everything was absolutely incredible. The lavender olive oil with the warm bread was a nice touch. We appreciated some of the different spices used in Spanish cuisine. It was just so different from other offerings in the city. We got flan for dessert. I never eat desert but the smoked maple sauce was incredible. It was a great way to celebrate a special occasion. I look forward to coming back.
The restaurant is a masterpiece in Pittsburgh's culinary
The restaurant is a masterpiece in Pittsburgh's culinary scene. Food is top notch and unique, service is over and beyond, it's better with a reservation but walking get treated well too. Ambiance is distinctly Spanish, and done well.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
