Hoppin' place on a Friday night
We enjoyed our meal here- the pasta dishes were excellent. We especially loved the ravioli. The salad with the grilled grapes was different and delicious. Service was fine- the team seemed to want to be there and did a good job. The only downside was the noise. It was hard to have any kind of conversation as tables are placed quite close together and the walls are brick. A good choice if you want pasta.

Would highly recommend, so yummy and the ambiance, just amazing!! We had the focaccia appetizer and the Bibb lettuce salad and both were great. I had the Sunday night lasagna which I really enjoyed and my daughter had the spaghettiโฆ I look forward to coming back!!

The ambiance and staff in this restaurant were just fine. Unfortunately ambiance, as nice as it is, doesn't make up for bad food. My wife had the veal chop special and I had haddock. Both were boring, tasteless, overcooked. and extremely overpriced for what we got. This was without a doubt the most expensive crappy meal I've ever had in my life! I'm amazed this place survives in NYC with all of the other great dining options. Sorry I didn't choose more wisely, don't make the same mistake.

I have reviewed this once nice spot in New York City, but must share that the place has lost the charm and can be downright rude to patrons.
Be the first to ReplyChris was our server and he was attentive and friendly......
This is a great place to go if you have a large group. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is exceptional and makes you feel like you are in Italy! Get the grilled chicken!

The staff at this restaurant are very rude and the food is mediocre at best. The front of house in particular has a terrible manner. Would not recommend and would never go back.
Be the first to ReplyNoisy, so yell your fellow eathers
Romantic dinner with my wife was the goal for the night. So noisy, that we couldnโt speak half the time. Two reasons for that. The acoustic at the restaurant are really bad - because of the bar and very open spaces. Second, people talk very loud. We could follow 3-4 conversations next to us. The food is decent. Risotto very good, the fritta de Pesce not so good. Pasta was fine. Service was okay, maybe to busy the give the attention that a customer should have. Wouldnโt go again, so many other options in that area.

My sister and I enjoyed a leisurely dinner at this busy and welcoming Italian restaurant. While the service wasnโt fast (the place was packed on a Monday night) our server was very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious. We shared two salads as appetizers, and both were stellar: the endive salad with grapes and pecorino cheese and a beet salad with pistachios and yogurt sauce. We also devoured the amazing bread and olive oil โ donโt miss it! We then shared the malfalde pasta with sweet sausage and broccoli rabe and pan-roasted halibut with leeks, mushrooms and potatoes. Both were just outstanding. We ended the meal by splitting a piece of the chocolate hazelnut cake with hazelnut gelato. A truly fantastic meal!

Nice atmosphere and great food. The service was great and our waiter made sure we were ok all the time. He was also passionate about the food and his recommendations was spot on
Be the first to ReplyMichael is the best!
When Iโm in New York, this is one of my favourite places to come to. Our meal last night reminded me of just why I come here. The place is busy and buzzy, and the food is great! I enjoyed perfectly prepared fish carpaccio, wonderful meatballs and melon sorbet. Fabulous! And it was all served with huge passion and amazing efficiency (given how busy it was) by Michael, who takes such a great pride in what he does that I was honoured to have him as our server. Thank you!

Delicious, authentic, fresh food. The ambiance is cozy and loved that they had Fontodi wine on their wine list. We had stayed on the Fontodi property when we were in Tuscany, so it brought back so many memories. Our server, Michael was amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and makes amazing suggestions. He made us feel like we were old friends. I definitely recommend this place. However, if you are looking for boring Italian food like chicken park, then go somewhere else.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, kinda noisy
Cameron a Saturday a lunch. Very busy, but weโre able to get in 30 min before our reservation. Service was good! Friendly waiter. Very packed and kinda loud.

Really good authentic Italian food. The atmosphere and service were really great. Would highly recommend a meal here!
Be the first to ReplySolidly good Italian food and atmos
Excellent food, fun and unpretentious atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. The creative cocktails and solidly good wine were mouthwatering, the starters were also creative and satisfying, the scallop ravioli divine, asparagus side perfect and steak cooked to perfection and super filling. (Only the olive oil served with the bread was nondescript and the fried artichoke hearts were as bland as the aoili that came with it). Otherwise I'd go back and back and back for more.
Be the first to ReplyFreshly made pasta, decadent meal
My wife was getting a haircut, afterwards we decided on Morandi to have lunch.
Walking inside, its modeled after a Italian wine cellar. The exposed brick and extensive wine bar says it's another Keith McNally beautiful restaurant.
My wife and I are seated in an elegant booth. Morandi gives off a different vibe from its siblings Pastis and Cherche Midi (Rest in Peace) These are open, bustling restaurants. Morandi oozes a sexy Italian vibe. It's dark and the booth seats are adorned with red leather. Molto sexy.
It's Saturday afternoon and we're given brunch menus. I zero in on the Tagliatelle alla bolognese and my wife chooses a frittata special. We order two glasses of Italian wines so let the dining begin! Our wine choices are perfect, now our entrees come to us quickly.
My freshly made pasta, mmmm. Perfecto. The Tagliatelle was cooked perfectly and the bolognese sauce was sooooo good. To me, its the perfect dish. My wife also enjoyed her healthy brunch meal.
Once we were finished, there was a crowd outside. It's good to see New York City bouncing back. 5 star meal along with the 5 star New York City sexy vibe.
Never again
Outside street seating is next to sewers. $360 for dinner accompanied by nauseating stench. Very rude hostess. We will not go back.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food. Overpriced. Pedestrian Atmosphere quoit separation from sidewalk traffic and Security Issues!
My wife, daughter and I sat outdoors at Morandi for lunch. Considering the high prices for average food, the owner Mr McNally should provide basic security for his guests considering the fair amount of transients walking right past your table on the sidewalk while you dine with no separation at all. We were accosted by a panhandler who then started verbally attacking me and my wife with foul language and without a mask on. We had to leave without finishing our meal. The restaurant staff basically did not want to get involved and after one waiter standing between us and him he left after being spat upon by the vagrant.
We told the manager that he failed to provide security for his guests.
Not a classy atmosphere by any stretch of the imagination, area in transition (demonstrations regularly on 7th Avenue south including earlier this week with many arrests) and much better- and safer other choices to be found in the West. Ullage and Little Italy.
Italian Sunday Brunch
The generous portions and cozy atmosphere has me feeling good all over. They know what theyโre doing here. Our entrees were very tasty and our server, so attentive. Delicious meal. Ciao

Wonderful appetizers and entrees at this family friendly restaurant in the West Village. Food was delicious. Excellent wine list.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Gnocchi
Great Italian food with an Italian atmosphere. It was tight quarters where we were seated but that is to be expected.

I was there for truffle week and I had the risotto with truffles. It wasn't very generous in terms of size but the taste was not bad.
PS: truffle based meals are however very expensive at this place
