Monsieur Vo New York Reviews from The Last Year

The service here is top-notch and super friendly, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. The food, absolutely amazing. Let me tell you about a little miracle that happened right at our table: my nephew was having a major meltdown because he didn't get this super pricey toy he wanted, and he was crying and all set to be grumpy for the day. But then, out came the biggest, most awesome bone marrow/beef dish we've ever seen. It was like magic - he went from sulking to storytelling, from tears to giggles, and he couldn't stop smiling. He practically inhaled that beef, and his bad mood? Gone. So, if you're looking for a place that might just turn your day around with some seriously good eats, this is it. Highly recommend!
Definitely a place to come with a group.
We had fun trying lots of different dishes. My favorites were the banh khot, beef shank, and thit heo quay - definitely get these! I don't think the sea bass was worth it, and the crab fried rice was too salty for me
Wish they sell hard liquor so they can have more yummy
Wish they sell hard liquor so they can have more yummy cocktails (sake based only). But food was really good and so was the service. The pancakes (3 mini ones) were unexpectedly good, and the fried rice was amazing. The shank is giant and a little greasy but still good.

I came on a Monday night and was able to get seating immediately without a reservation. The servers were friendly and fast. The prices were on the higher side so I would say this place is good for a special occasion. I loved the way the restaurant was decorated with the fun wallpaper and arched walkways. I ordered three dishes: * Roasted Bone Marrow - 9/10 - The bone marrow was so flavorful and fatty! I appreciate that they toasted the bread well, so it was extra crispy with the smooth marrow. * Monsieur Platter - 8/10 - The steak was my favorite meat and it was cooked rare with a green onion and cilantro sauce on top. The pork was my second favorite and it had a good umami taste too. The meatballs were a bit dry and the sugar cane shrimp was just ok. I liked the interactive aspect of this dish. It was nice to choose what to put in the rolls (putting the crab fried rice in the rolls was very good too) * Com Chien Cua - 8.5/10 - I liked the flavor of this fried rice, but I wish there was a bit more crab for the price of the dish. The runny egg yolk and spicy peppers were a nice touch to round out the dish.
Monsieur Vo focuses on more meat-heavy, less traditional
Monsieur Vo focuses on more meat-heavy, less traditional dishes compared to its counterpart, Madame Vo. It's also more upscale compared to most Vietnamese restaurants in the city. Monsieur Platter was the most fun part of our meal, which is essentially a build-it-yourself spring roll board that came with short rib, beef, lemongrass pork, shrimp, and various veggie toppings. The Com Chay was one of my favorites, and it's scorched rice laden with Vietnamese sausage and crispy anchovy. Our waiter recommended the Banh Khot as appetizer, which are coconut scallion mini pancakes topped with caviar.
All the authentic Vietnamese flavors heighten in not so
All the authentic Vietnamese flavors heighten in not so traditional ways. We had an amazing meal here from start to finish. To start: Banh Khot - flavorful, crispy on the outside and soft mung bean in the middle, batter seasoned to perfection and caviar for added oomph. Banh beo - not served with traditional ground shrimp but with whole fried flavorful shrimped topped with more freshness and flavor. Roasted bone marrow and beef tartare - two dishes I didn't think I would eat at a Vietnamese restaurant, but it was so yummm with viet flavored and seasoning I wouldn't want it any other way. Crab, corn asparagus soup - perfectly fired soft shell crab, sweet corn and asparagus in an egg drop like soup. So warm and soulful after the same time. ...honestly I don't know when the starters stopped and the main course started... Crab fried rice so full of flavor with a creamy egg yolk in the middle Dry pho ga - my picky eater 8 year old daughter devoured it saying her 21 year old self would enjoy it even more (idk what that means, but I'm sure we will be back many more times before then) Crispy Pork belly - delightful as lettuce wraps Crispy sea bass - served with all the accompaniments to make the perfect rice paper rolls And the oh my BBH beef shank, melt of the bone flavors of meaty morsels with a side of of cabbage salad to keep it refreshing .....and when we though we couldn't eat anymore we had finish with the single dessert item - home made flan and roasted rice ice cream served with chewy boba balls and what tasted like a burnt ginger sesame sugar crisp - with all those wonderful flavors in one dish, no wonder they didn't need any other dessert item. One of my best meals in the city.
A New York must try.
Modern, thoughtful Vietnamese gastropub food from Chef Jimmy Ly and Yen Vo in the East Village. We enjoyed every bite. You must order the Beef Shank, Con Chien Cua, and the fried okra. They pair so great together. The crab rice was amazing and the okra was fried to perfection. I love that the okra didn't have any breading on it. The waiter was patient and helpful. The vibe was a mix crowd and the decor was fun. Grab a few friends and Go check this place out. What we ordered: Beef Shank Com Chien Cua Fried Okra Banh Flan Monsieur Vo 104 2nd Ave New York, NY 10003
- solid 7/10 for me - feel like you have to get the beef
- solid 7/10 for me - feel like you have to get the beef shank and it is a lot of food. MP was $125 for large but we got small (still over $100) for the 6 of us - drinks only $14 sake based which i love - red curry pretty good with taro pieces, had to order white rice - apps did come separately - crab fried rice solid
The bone marrow was fatty and delicious with the bread.
the bread did come a bit burnt though.. Banh khot flavors were perfectly intertwined with the rich, salty caviar, sweet shrimp, hint of mint, plus the crunchy scallion pancake added great texture. the pho is a 7/10 because we were getting full at this point. keep in mind we came here after eating two yubus so that mightve altered our opinions. still tasted great on a half full stomach which means delicious in my books! service was exceptional and the ambiance was wonderful with the murmur of the other diners chatter and mood lighting of the restaurant. we were a bit shocked there was no soupy pho haha
Very cool spot! Great for family style meals.
There wasn't a very large selection of food to choose from, but it was delicious. The thit heo quay was my favorite!

One of the best places in the city for Vietnamese food and you have to try the beef shank. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and every dish we had was amazing. The beef shank comes with unlimited salad refills! Our waitress was so kind and sweet!
Food was good, a little salty but flavourful.
With that said, I'm not sure if it's worth the price...
First time going to a Vietnamese restaurant without
First time going to a Vietnamese restaurant without ordering the stereotypical pho. Came to Monsieur Vo for an early birthday dinner celebration , and found out it is actually the sister restaurant of Madame Vo. My friend and I opted for the crab fried rice and the platter which both were surprisingly delicious. My favorite out of the two would have to be the crab fried rice though. The service was great and the staff ensured my water was never empty. Overall, I would recommend Monsieur Vo if you are craving some unique Vietnamese dishes other than pho!
As someone who did not enjoy their sister location, Madame
As someone who did not enjoy their sister location, Madame Vo, everything at Monsieur Vo was very much enjoyable. Unsure of the usual wait, as we did have a reservation, but everyone who came in were seated within minutes. We had chosen the fried okra as an appetizer and we all enjoyed it. I personally found it slightly too citrusy but my friend who doesn't usually eat okra enjoyed it a lot. For mains, we ordered the monsieur platter and the beef shank. My only complaint about the platter would be there's only so many rice paper to create your own wraps. The beef shank was amazing, super juicy and well flavored. You could simply eat this with bowls of white rice. We also ordered the Com Chien Cua (tamarind fried rice) to start, but was still hungry for more rice so we ordered the Com Chay (scortched rice) after. The Com chien cua had so much flavor and was actually on the saltier side after eating towards the bottom. The scorched rice is nice if you enjoy the crunch and you don't exactly taste the anchovies, although there was a very slight hint of bitterness. And of course you can't forget dessert, which they only have one, we had to try. The flan was nice, but we thought the boba wasn't needed. Overall great experience, with everything we ordered plus tip, it came out to be $92 per person, granted we each had something to drink, two being cocktails. Would come back and recommend to a friend.
So this was pretty awesome.
The beef shank is massive and delicious, with the sweetness and citrusy notes helping to provide pleasant contrast to the massively meaty, rich shank itself. It's not cheap, but it's 3 large meals easily, and when you consider that, it actually feels like a pretty good value. Splitting such a large shank between two people didn't leave much room for anything else, but I would still recommend the banh khot, which was also a delicious way to start, with each bite being an excellent mix of flavors and textures. Great food. Can definitely understand the hype.
Good service Food was very savory I was planning to order
Good service Food was very savory I was planning to order the beef rib but for $125, I thought it was a bit steep Best were the okra

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner and was very disappointed to find only ONE vegetarian-friendly item on the menu. Although I didn't order the fried okra myself (I'm personally not a huge fan of the vegetable), my friend that did enjoyed it and was able to share the appetizer appropriate portion with the table. Drinks were good and affordable by NYC standards ($14 cocktails), the service was very accommodating and the ambiance was nice! But having to settle for a pescatarian dish (the Banh Knot) left me feeling unsatisfied. I ordered a side of white rice which is always a comfort, but this is the first time I've encountered this lack of options issue at any Vietnamese restaurant.
I really recommend this place.
Everything was so good, we got rocket shrimp they were great, the scallion coconut pancakes are also a must. The bone marrow was phenomenal, really 10/10. The rice with crab was also a hit. I could have gone back the next day. The service was efficient, the drinks were okey.
I'm Vietnamese and have been spoiled with amazing
I'm Vietnamese and have been spoiled with amazing Vietnamese food growing up in San Jose, CA. I have been on the search for good Viet food in NY since moving here 1.5 years ago and have been hearing a lot bout Monsieur Vo so finally decided to try it out. Came here on a Sunday around 6pm without reservation and there were only bar seats available so bf and I went for that. Ambiance is upscale but not dressy. Could be a cute date night spot, solo date, night out with friends or a group. Could dress up or casual. We were pretty casual. Ordered the bánh khọt and Monsieur platter and everything was pretty good. I didn't realize the bánh khọt was $21 because I got excited and just ordered without looking at the price since I haven't had bánh khọt in forever. I realized it's pricey for 3 pieces because it is topped with caviar. The menu said the Monsieur platter comes with short rib, beef in betel leaf, BBQ pork, and sugarcane shrimp but only the BBQ pork (nem nuong) looked familiar to me. I think in my picture, the bottom left is supposed to be the beef in betel leaf because it tasted like it but it didn't look like it. It looks like a meatball but it's normally more sausage shaped and actually wrapped in betel leaf. I think the meat at the top is supposed to be the sugarcane shrimp because it tasted like it too but it's normally presented as a shrimp paste wrapped around an actual piece of sugarcane. The woven vermicelli was good and so were the pickled carrots. It comes with anchovy sauce and fish sauce - the anchovy one was really good. Bf and I cleaned that one. Comes with rice paper and our server was so nice - he saw we ran out but still had a bit of meat left and asked us if we wanted more rice paper (and gave us the right amount to finish it). Overall everything tasted very good. I was impressed since I'm picky with my Vietnamese food. Everything's on the pricier ended but it's a more upscale restaurant. And it's NYC. Presentation is unique - nontraditional but not a bad thing. I think it's nice their presentation is out of the box. I would def come back with friends if I wanted more upscale Viet food.
I went to Monsieur Vo in summer 2023 and was an amazing
I went to Monsieur Vo in summer 2023 and was an amazing experience. Loved the environment, the drinks, and specially the food. I had the cocktail TIME AFTER TIME which was really well made. Then, for appetizer we had the ROASTED BONE MARROW, this was the best dish I had. The melting bone marrow with butter and tamarind glaze was delicious. Then we had the PHO GA KHO (nooddles with chicken and the COM CHIEN CUA (rice with crab). The rice was definetely my favourite, the crab was fresh and the combination with the egg was perfect. I would totally go back, definitely would recommend. ESPAÑOL: Fui a Monsieru Vo en verano de 2023 y fue una experiencia increíble. Me encantó el ambiente, las bebidas y especialmente la comida. Tomé el cóctel TIME AFTER TIME que estaba muy bien preparado. Volveré a Monseiur Vo, totalmente recomendable.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
