Absolutely beautiful
Outstanding staff and beautiful surroundings. We were warmly greeted with a ringing of the bell and a welcome fresh lemon drink. Very tastefully remodelled monastery with a fabulous backstory and tasteful decor - including a confessional. Picturesque views of the sea and a lovely infinity style pool. Looking forward to our next visit.

Where do I start? We have been to some amazing hotels around the world from Qualia in Australia to the Bel Air in LA. But Monastero Santa Rosa is probably the finest luxury hotel we have ever stayed at. This is not just a hotel, it's a complete emotional and personal experience. Draped over massive cliffs on the Amalfi coast, the property is incredible, with gorgeous plants and flowers dripping over railings and framing intoxicating views of the sea below. This is a private and intimate hotel - not overrun with mobs. There are so many quiet nooks to hide away in and gaze. The highlight is the infinity pool that is on the cliff edge - stunning. Finally, what really makes this place so memorable are the staff and people. Each person we interacted with, really made us feel welcome. From the welcome bell, to the champagne rose in our Rosa suite to the incredible breakfasts and food, Monastero Santa Rosa is a first class experience that I need more of.

From the front-door greeting and welcome glass of freshly squeezed lemonade to the farewell gift, this hotel was like staying with friends. The detailed restoration of the monastery is matched by the attentiveness of staff. The gardens and pool offered privacy, intimacy and beauty. The breakfast in bed (included in rate) was wonderful and mindful of my food allergy (without needing to ask!). The restaurant space and spa are luxurious yet friendly. I only wish we had planned a longer stay than our two nights.

We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary (3 nights) here and we will never forget how Amazing the Hotel and Staff were! We had a beautiful Suite with our own private terrace overlooking the sea, we will never forget those views from this gorgeous Hotel. Every detail was thought with perfection, The Staff was so Attentive and Kind. The Spa was one of the Best (massage and facial for me) with my favorite products from Florence! We are so happy we chose you to celebrate our special day with you1. Thank you !!!

Every detail is thought of from start to finish! Every staff member is wonderful and warm. The property is both peaceful and private. The landscape and architecture is true to its origin but updated to meet your every wish! Service is exceptional. As an English speaker they had people to help me without any trouble at all. We spent three weeks in 9 hotels between Switzerland and the Amalfi. This hotel will be our favorite by far. Their VPN also worked with our two different configurations and the data was robust in transfer speeds. Concierge set up all my transfers and all went flawless. Rooms are quaint and comfortable and shower and bath amazing. Linens, robes and towels all very plush. Wardrobe and safe ample for larger items. Pool and seating lovely and feels private. Stay here. It is five star!

Easily the most perfect spot to relax, recharge and recalculate I’ve ever experienced. An old 17th century monastery with 20 period rooms with all the comforts of. 6 star resort. Cute touches all around you to remind you of the buildings history. Fantastic food, views over the sea that go on forever and extraordinary staff service make this worth every euro, and there are a lot of them to be sure. Shuttle takes you into town for dining and tours. An absolutely unique experience that if you can you must. We drove back to Rome thru Positano and we engulfed by massive crowds. I can’t imagine staying there after the peace and tranquillity of Santa Rosa

The lady who renovated this monastery into the hotel it has now become deserves huge credit for the sympathetic way in which it has been done. The way the history of the monastery has been preserved in such a unique way is truly incredible. With only 20 rooms there is a maximum of 40 guests allowing every person in the hotel massive amounts of personal space. Nothing is rushed at all, instead the staff carry out their duties in an air of serene peace that echoes throughout the hotel. All ( and I mean all ) the staff are exceptionally friendly and approachable - if you have a question then please do not sit in silence - the staff are taught to answer the guest's questions. The comfort offered in the rooms is exceptional. No expense has been spared in the quality of the fittings in the bathrooms and the beds/linen are to die for. If we could have taken the bed ( Super King ? ) home then we would have. Other guests commented on just how comfortable the beds are in Santa Rosa. The Michelin starred restaurant ( Il Refettorio ) is stunning and sets the standard for the quality of food on offer throughout the hotel. It is the premiere place to dine in the hotel but the poolside restaurant is excellent as is the other restaurant offering evening meals where Gennaro and his staff will welcome you. Monastero Santa Rosa offers stunning views of the Amalfi Coast and sits in a phenomenal location. Three points to consider if you are wishing to consider booking or visiting this hotel. The hotel has lifts that go up and down through three levels but access to the gardens and pool area are by steps - another three levels. The second point is that the roads around the hotel are very busy and steep with no pavements, so walking is not an option for someone with mobility problems. The third point is that you can only visit the hotel ( lunch/bar/restaurant ) if you pre book. The hotel does not accept ' walk ins '. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and we have to offer a big ' Thank You ' to Mr Ferdinando Alfano ( General Manager ) and all his staff for making our week staying in Monastero Santa Rosa so memorable. We just cannot praise them all highly enough for their friendliness and attention to detail. Would we return? In a heartbeat!

Our family of five visited in early September after dreaming about visiting this gem for @18 months. The experience was magical in all ways and surpassed all (lofty) expectations. Service was a fine balance of perfection and making us feel like family. We have truly never seen a more gorgeous setting, and we were enchanted by the monastery's history. Our three adult children had a spacious space (Laurus-a former nun's refrectory). We had a smaller, intimate room (Viola) but it came with a terrific balcony which we very much enjoyed. Again, the views of the terraces, the epic pool and the glimmering sea are mesmerizing. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. We loved Il Refettoria on our final evening (and a big note of appreciation for "G" - whose finesse and humor entertained us). Some of our special favorites: the wonderful humans working the concierge desk; the super convenient shuttle service to Amalfi town; the other-worldly and beautiful spa; and the nightly surprises on our beds at turndown service. Four nights was not enough!! Grazie mille, Monastero Santa Rosa!!!

The most well done hotel in the most beautiful location in the world. Everything at this hotel was just right. The renovation was perfect, the furnishings simple yet lovely, the antiques were so appropriate, the food is wonderful, the staff is lovely. It is a true slice of heaven and I cannot wait to return, soon!! Thank you to all involved for a beautiful visit.

Why do we return to Monastero Santa Rosa? Very few hotels offer the peace, tranquility, food, stunning views and stellar service that MSR overwhelmingly delivers. We’ve been to lots of upscale hotels in Italy, but this privately owned hotel is at the top. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive, food preparation from their new chef is delicious and approachable and the property is as close to paradise as it gets. There’s a world class spa. And then there’s “the pool” where you can spend all day relaxing and soaking in the incredible views while drinking a Negroni and enjoying some castelvetrano olives.
