REVIEW OF PATIO: There are lots of great places to eat in Manhattan, this is not one of them. Food flavor and plating was unimpressive. I really expected more from David Chang.Tried the Country Ham and red-eye gravy, Wagyu Beef Tartare, Crispy Fingerling Potatoes and the Smoky Old Fashioned. The country ham was interesting but very salty. Sliced very thin and served like carpaccio. Looked very similar to Korean BBQ meat. Taste was like a salty version of Iberico ham, the red-eye gravy was somewhat flavorless, although it really just could not stand up to the strong flavor of the ham. Personally I'll stick with Iberico. The potatoes were the "best" part of the meal. Crispy and thoroughly cooked, could have used more salsa verde, they were a bit dry. The Smoked Old Fashioned - barrel stave smoked old forester bourbon, tamari, black sugar. It was very booze forward and and we could not taste any flavor imparted by the the tamari syrup. We love old fashioneds and have had some impressive interpretations by very talented bartenders. This was not one of them. The biggest disappointment was the Wagyu Beef Tartare. It was a very small portion and the taste and texture were more like a tough cut of Tuna than Waygu. I've had waygu before and had this been the first Waygu I tried, I'd never try it again. I've had much better Tartare and Waygu everywhere else I've ever had it. Ship this interpretation. Bottom line, we won't be back. While we were at the table we were planning our Order for Keste Pizza on our way home.
