TLDR: This is the best sushi I've ever had.
We were in Whistler skiing and locals told us to come here over other sushi restaurants. Family owned, ask the owner lady what to eat. We saw the reviews and wondered if this was the right choice. We came in and I did find the owner lady and I told her we just wanted what she recommended. We had the most amazing meal. Wasn't too much and we ordered more. I can't tell you what all we had but they walked us through the meal and everything was simply amazing. Some sort of tuna stomach thing that was unbelievable. Also (pictured) is this seaweed with fish eggs attached that was so good. Couldn't recommend this place more.

We popped in hungry for lunch and cold from walking in the rain- what a cosy spot!! We were greeted with hot tea- which hit the spot! We sat at the bar as we didn't have reservations and majority of the tables were reserved. I enjoyed sitting at the bar, we got to watch the raw dishes being prepared. I did get the sashimi sampler and edamame, the edamame must be boiled in a broth of some sort as there was tons of flavour. The fish was super fresh and delicious. My bf got the teriyakis- and they were huge portions and came with soup and rice! The service was super friendly and quick and the prices were very good for the amount of food we got!

We got the ka karaage (deep fried squid), a plate of assorted sashimi, BC and dynamite roll. Honestly, good sushi and I have no complaints! I did find the tuna sashimi was incredibly fresh. The BC roll had salmon skin and it was crispy on the end pieces but was quite soggy inside - I still enjoyed the texture. Service was great! They were quite busy on a weekday evening.

WE never we visit Vancouver this is one of our go to spots for dining. We have been coming here for twenty years and the food does not disappoint. It is fantastic. The service is very good, with all staff being polite and courteous. The food is very delicious and is one of the few restaurants left in Vancouver where you can get truly authentic Japanese dishes. We will continue to support this restaurant all the time the doors are open. Please don't close or retire! Thank you so much to the Miko Sushi staff, both front and back of the house.
Be the first to ReplyThe sushi at this place is incredibly fresh and delicious.
Our server helped us pick the perfect sake for our meal. The space was small and the walls covered with notes and signatures from famous people who had eaten there and very few had pics, so you couldn't really tell who had written what, and frankly that made it even cooler. I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyDecent sushi spot on Robson St.
I didn't make a reservation so we left our name and got called back in 25 minutes. Service was good and we got tea served right away. The food was decent but I was expecting more at the price point. I would expect 8 pieces for a specialty roll, but I only got 6 for the red dragon roll. The negitoro cone was my favorite.

A cozy and authentic feeling sushi restaurant which is hidden in plain sight next to the ever popular Ramen Danbo. They provide a great choice of modern and traditional sushi with friendly service.I have to say, out of everything we ordered the Unagi Nigiri blew it out of the park. One of the best I've had and I've had lots. It's grilled over charcoal so has much more texture and flavour than torch grilled alternatives.
Be the first to ReplyMiko was a bit disappointing.
They didn't have a ton of options and it was expensive. $20 for the sushi and miso soup. It also just wasn't the best sushi. Tasted low quality and not fresh. 3 roll special came with California, BC& dynamite. I also asked for a side of eel sauce and they didn't know what that was. Service was fast, no complaints about that.

Disclaimer: The food was so yummy I did not spend time taking any pictures. I haven't had raw fish in a while due to pregnancy but regardless, this does not change my opinion on how yummy the food was here. Our friends took us here for dinner, and we fell in love with this little hole in the wall. I can't believe I haven't been here before! They are one of the few places that serve THIN sashimi ( truly an experience in itself). We also had a variety of sashimi, onigiri, and appetizers. One of my favourite dishes here is the soft shell crab. The crab was so tender and juicy unlike any other place I've been. My husband also order a special sake - hirezake - which is made from a fugu (blowfish) fin marinating in hot sake and later lit with match to smoke it (another must try experience)

Come by this place accidentally because it was across the street from our hotel.Being hungry and tired, we were hoping to be able to eat fast, and go rest.Hopes are not fulfilled. Small place, and polite waitresses do not justify 1.15 hrs wait for simple caterpillar roll. Food was ok, but irritation of being served very last ( despite not being last ones to come) and being offered water every second instead of ordered food spoiled evening.

There's a reason why there are so many different sports teams signatures on the wall! What looks to be a small hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant is definitely a diamond in the rough. The service was AMAZING, and the food even more amazing! The negitoro was so good, Ika was superb, hamachi melt-in-your-mouth good!Pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed!! :)
Be the first to ReplyI can't even put to words how good this food is.
This was our first time coming here, and it seemed like every other patron was a regular. On top of that, this place seems to be frequented by players of the CHL (Canadian hockey league) - filling the wall with notes along the lines of "best sushi in Canada" "love the food" etc. the fish is so fresh and flavorful here too. all in all, this place deserves every five star it gets.

I went to this place many times before and food was outstanding. This time we came at 5:20pm and an elder Asian server told us that they're busy and left in the middle of a conversation. Didn't even allow us to ask about a wait time. So rude! Will never come again! Service was never their strongest side but after this incident we'll never be back again.

easily the best sushi restaurant in the city! The staff is so friendly and attentive - and the food is always fresh and amazingly delicious. My week is not complete unless I have at least one meal here. Forever my favorite spot!

I did takeout here twice, and I was surprised by the excellent quality of fish! The grilled fish prices are very fair, and the saba shioyaki is one of the best I've ever had. So fresh and tasty and no hint of fishiness. I ate it two days in a row. The negitoro was good but it didn't wow me like I read in the other reviews. I think I would have liked more green onion flavour. Now I just wish I lived closer so I can eat at this place every day. *drool*

I didn't have high expectations and thought it was just another small sushi place but boy was I wrong! Their walls are filled with compliments from lots of NHL players and I now know why. The service was amazing. In this COVID time it's hard to tell with face masks etc but the person that helped us was so good that you didn't need to see her smiling to know she was smiling behind her mask the whole time. The food tasted fresh and delicious. It didn't look like much when it came but within the first bite I was amazed. The unagi and negitoro was so good, it melted in my mouth! Funny enough as I was eating my negitoro I overheard another customer say "best negitoro ever." I had their assorted tempura which was amazing too, not full of batter and greasy which is hard to find. Same with their chicken wings, and agedeshi tofu. If you want some really good Japanese food, this is the place!
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all, great service.
Our waitress was kind and patient and wanted us to have a good experience. Our tea was constantly refilled. This is the kind of place that we'd eat at once a week or more often if we lived in Vancouver -- traditional, no frills, not fussy just well made for every weeknight.Of note, the amaebi tastes reasonably fresh, and the fried head was awesome. I've had this dish for decades and never once had a waitress bothered to explain how it's supposed to be eaten (body to tip), so I really appreciate that.Everything we ordered that came out of the kitchen, we'd order again. That may be the best part of the experience.Minus one star for the stuff from the sushi bar -- everything tasted fresh enough (seems like a low expectation, but it's not), but the sushi just bland. Something was missing. The wasabi didn't have a kick, the soy sauce wasn't salty, the sushi had no umami flavor. Just weird. And the yellowtail belly was a weird cut to me too. I suppose if I had no basis of comparison, it'd have been fine. Some pieces had dried edges. It was definitely not fatty. The seaweed and rice didn't have enough favor so the uni and tobiko and ikura was just ok. And just FYI and no big deal, the ikura is of the salted variety. All that being said, we'd still eat their unpretentious food every night (but probably more dishes from the kitchen than sushi bar), and by the looks of it, so would many people.

I really do not understand how this place doesn't have a higher rating. I went in for an early dinner on a week night and sat at the bar. It was spacious, comfortable and inviting. I love the decor in this place. It's authentic without being cheesy. Because I wasn't facing Robson street, I really felt like I could be in Japan. The service was great. I ordered salmon maki, negitoro roll, salmon nigiri and unagi nigiri. This was the best negitoro I have found in Vancouver, lots of green onion. The unagi was excellent as well. Very tender, perfectly seasoned and still hot when it got to me which is rare for nigiri. I am so glad I found a new sushi place since sushi itoga closed. I might even dare say that this place is better.
