The food is bland and they don't like Black people.
The Ambiance is cool tho. Solid location.

It looks nice, it looks fun and that's where it ends. We went as a party of 6 and 1/2 of us enjoyed our meals while the rest of us got really really bad food. My buddy's filet was absolutely awful. They didn't season it at all, I mean at all. I've never been somewhere that doesn't season their steak with a fleck of salt but that's how his came out. Another's was cold in the middle and she didn't order blue rare, far from it. Also found a big old hair in her Brussels sprouts. When they brought my food out the runner called my ribeye a strip multiple times and just stood there insisting it's what I ordered. I got a ribeye.... Not sure how someone at a steakhouse confused that. The next guy called my wife's tuna steak a buffalo tenderloin. WTF. So I make a comment to our server in jest and one of the food runners postured up and snapped at me looking like he'd kick my ass for being disrespectful. Really?!? Then the manager comes. We let her know all the things and then it became a negotiation on how to make it right for us and then she went back to her more senior manager like a used car dealer and wanted to see what they could do. We didn't have time to get a re-fire due to slow service and a show we were going to. All in all, when you go out and drop 2 bills on a meal and didn't even order a bottle of wine at a self proclaimed high end steak house with a dress code, I expect better. Do better Meat Market. This was an absolute joke. For anyone else reading this, save your money, time and frustration and go elsewhere. I've had better steak and service at Texas Roadhouse. Go to Charley's instead.

So finally made my way to the meet market for brunch on a Sunday for a quick birthday celebration with my family. Let's start with the ambiance 9 out of 10. It is a very cute vibe. They have plenty seating inside and outside. The bar area is a decent size. If I'm being honest though, this all the good I have to say about this place. Just as an FYI this place is very expensive so be prepared to spend $100+ pp if you're planning on eating and drinking. The food was SUBPAR, and not worth the money at all. I ordered the filet mignon and it was season-less, it just taste like a piece of meat, no salt, it wasn't juicy, just dry meat and it looked super tiny. We as well order the cocktail shrimp which came with only 2 large cocktail shrimp for like $25 very lack luster. A few people ordered the duck and waffle and they enjoyed it but again, nothing too amazing. We ordered some oysters and they seemed to enjoy them. We told them we had a birthday and they brought out a bowl of ice cream, which again, very basic. The alcoholic beverages were just OK. Also I would like to make note that I paid $72 for (3) CASAMIGOS shots! And they added in gratuity on even though we'd closed out our tables tab and ordered them totally separate as a quick thing. The service was also SUBPAR. At first glance, I thought this place would be comparable to Capitale Grill, Ulele or Flemings as far as service goes, but it was not that. While they were attentive, it just wasn't giving 5-star dining at all, just the prices lol. Now, as I said, it's cute in there so it's giving a look of being a good vibe, but I'm not really inclined to recommend it to anyone. Our tables tab was somewhere around $500+gratuity+tip. Had the experience been better I would've said OK but definitely not worth all that money. Maybe I'll try out dinner and give it one more try.

Meat Market HAPPY HOUR!!! I think this is the best Happy Hour we have ever been to and we will definitely be back. The drinks were to die for and the food was amazing. I cannot believe the amount and the quality of stuff we got for such a cheap price. I also love the whole place and we sat at the bar outside and it was perfect. Hands down the best Happy Hour in Tampa.

Asked for a sparkler service with a bottle of champagne was told no. Very pretentious and overall rude staff! The manager was useless his job is to accommodate the guests and he failed to do so. Unbelievable service for Hyde park. Don't waste your time with coming here. When I went to tell the mrg more thoughts he walked away! Arrogant prick. The only thing good was these corn puffs.

Food is wonderful! Service is excellent! And the ambience is totally engaging! Took my son here for a special dinner while we were visiting him and it was all we expected and more.

Amazing meal with the family, great atmosphere and fun vibes! We spent Thanksgiving at a restaurant for the first time and the experience at the Meat Market made it feel special with great memories!

Unfortunately, my recent experience at The Meat Market fell far short of expectations. Despite confirming our reservation the day before, we arrived to find that our booking was not in the system. This initial hiccup set the tone for the rest of the evening. The quality of the steak left much to be desired, resembling something you might find at a chain restaurant like Applebee's. The flavor was lackluster and failed to impress, especially considering the perceived reputation & prices of The Meat Market. Service was another major disappointment. Throughout the evening, there was a noticeable absence of staff checking in on us. We felt neglected and overlooked, with no one taking the time to ensure we were enjoying our meal or address any concerns we had. To add insult to injury, when we requested a baked potato to replace the poorly prepared first one, it took an astonishing 30 minutes for it to arrive at our table. This level of inefficiency and lack of attention to detail is simply unacceptable. In summary, my experience at The Meat Market was marred by poor communication, subpar food quality, and abysmal service. For those seeking a memorable dining experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful setting for groups, or date nights.
Food was beautiful and tasty. The food was pretty quick and overall we did not wait too long for food. Only thing I'd change is the DJ they kept changing the vibe every other song but with all the talking it's not a big deal.

OVER RATED! Ambiance was good - seems like a place to be seen. Had reservations inside and they tried seating us outside near a a parking ticket machine on the street. Had to wait another 30 minutes for inside table. Service was awful - took our food away before we finished. Not very attentive and the food was average - nothing great. Spend that kind of money, you should get excellent food and service. Second time going to a Meat Market Restaurant and it will be our last. Thought we would give it a second try but that was a mistake. There a MUCH BETTER steak houses!

Great restaurant in a cool area of Tampa. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone

Some people might be fooled by the name (there were a few young people in the crowd who were confused)....but it is a high-end exceptional restaurant...not a "pick up place". The staff was delightful and attentive. They seemed to have a passion to serve. Everything we had was delicious, but the appetizer short ribs were to die for...the goat cheese tator tots quite yummy...the Brussel sprouts were also a big hit. Everyone had steak entrees and in our group of 6 there were zero complaints. The drinks were tasty and refreshing. And then we had dessert...do not MISS the cinnamon roll. It is a chic upscale destination in a revitalized part of a bungalow type neighborhood.

I like Meat Market, though I wouldn't recommend them for steak. I was pretty disappointed in the chewiness of my filet. However, I've gotten the duck multiple times and love it every time. It seriously is SO GOOD, the flavors from the sweet potato pancake, raspberry sauce, and duck all pair so beautifully. I crave this dish a lot! The steak tartare is great too. The ambiance is high class and perfect for a night on the town. I would recommend coming here for a nice dinner, but I would encourage someone to look at their other entree options other than a steak.Alex has served us a few times and has always given awesome service! Definitely ask for him if you want excellent recommendations for food and wine pairings.

I'll start off with the positive: - ambiance is great-do note there is a nightclub attached, I personally think it adds to the atmosphere but could be annoying for some peopleService: -I've come a few times, on both busy and quieter nights. Every time, the food has come at LEAST an hour after ordering. - there are some nice waiters, but many of them have a pretentious and bothered attitude. And not pretentious as in, high end- because I've had a few encounters where waiters do not know about their own menu or wine selection. I mean, they seem bothered by you asking basic questions or that they don't want to be there. The waiters seem more concerned about shining the wine glasses than actually offering good service.Food: Mostly overrated. Meat is overly condimented and very little portion with no accompaniment. Anything truffle is TOO truffle. This last time I paid $15 for a "Wild Roasted Mushroom" dish thinking I would get Shiitake or Oyster mushrooms.. nope. $15 for baby Bellas cooked in the most ordinary way....Over priced and nothing genuinely "luxury" about Meat Market.
Be the first to ReplyService, ambiance and location is perfect.
We visited for lunch and tried the empanadas which came with 2 and we were able to add a 3rd for my little. We shared the tuna taster which came with a tropical salsa and guacamole and the grilled kale Caesar salad. Which my son said tasted like a steak because of the grilled leaves. The apps were all phenomenal and the quick service was perfect for a lunch stop in. My husband had the classic burger medium rare. But came out well done and was very underwhelming. I had the roast bbq sandwich which I regret and wished I would of just stuck with the rib appetizer. I thought I was going to be a panini but was a large grilled baguette. My son had the best plate of the visit. The churrasco with frites and a side of mac n cheese. His steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Overall the sitting area is lush and beautiful. You'd never know your sitting in a parking spot. I felt that we were very attended to and everyone made sure we were taken care of and our needs were met. Prior to even asking at times. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with a gorgeous bar area. It's definitely a pretty place but I'd have to agree with some other reviews about the food. Nothing made our toes curl to say we have to come back. But I could see us coming back for some drinks and apps. It's a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some food with drinks.

Garrett was our food shaman on this religious journey to food mecca. He recommended a stupendous spicy cocktail with our dessert that sent us blasting off into the garden of eden.

Food is top quality that includes Steak and many other options. Brunch on Sunday is a reservation only event. But what brings me back every time I visit Florida is service. Preston remembers us on each visit, even though we live up north. So, glad to be in Tampa again and heading to eat lunch at Meat Market- Preston please set a table for two!
Be the first to ReplyWill never come here again.
The other night a friend and myself came to the restaurant to join two other friends who had already been seated 1 table away from the outdoor patio. As we made our way over to the table my friend was stopped and told he couldn't dine because he violated the dress code. He was wearing $200 Tommy Bahama shorts versus slacks. This is Florida and management should have been more accommodating since we were placed so close to the outdoor patio and was not in the center of the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyProbably the worst experience where I was turned away
Probably the worst experience where I was turned away wbecause I was wearing a pair of Tommy Baham shorts. Below the knee no less that if our table was one seat.over, I would have been fine. Having eaten here I find the menu overrated abd the NYC pricing not worth the finished product. When I spoke with a manager I was given the a line of BS as there is no reason for this draconian dress code. Please note that I never leave bad reviews and it would take such a bizarre incident for me to do so.

Food is great drinks are awesome, price is steep but it's a gorgeous location. Shoe restrictions for men only? Unacceptable. Can I use the restroom? Do I leave my shoes outside and go in barefoot? A little ridiculous. Ban flip flops or don't, my gender shouldn't come into it.
