Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill Sedona Reviews from The Last Year
We lucked out and were able to walk in on a Saturday
We lucked out and were able to walk in on a Saturday evening and dine at the bar. It is a beautifully decorated restaurant and space. The views during sunset were magical and the vegetarian food options were too. I loved the mushroom empanadas, and the quinoa stuffed poblano corn relleno.
Amazing
Phenomenal💕💕 highly recommended The terrace is amazing, the service was superb and the food is perfect and devine This is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner

My husband and I had an excellent dining experience at this restaurant. I had the chicken dinner, and my husband enjoyed the fish. Both dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff was incredibly attentive and nice, making sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was beautiful, adding to the overall wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place to others!

The food is amazing every time we go! Love this place and go every time we are in Sedona! Had a wonderful cocktail as well. I took my 92 year old mother and we split everything and still had leftover's.
GF and I each had perfectly cooked fillets.
Beautiful views, great cocktails, and excellent steakhouse meals. Price is reasonable for this calibre meal.
Mariposa was the best dining experience I've ever had! I
Mariposa was the best dining experience I've ever had! I reserved a table a month ago in the main dining room with the view I attached in the photos. The food was so good that I wish I could go back and eat it every day. The service was equally amazing. We didn't feel rushed and we even ended up staying almost three hours. We had the best dining experience for our anniversary!
My fiancé and I dine at Mariposa every time we visit
My fiancé and I dine at Mariposa every time we visit Sedona. It's our absolute favorite place! The views are obviously amazing but the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant are magnificently beautiful! The food is always prepared to perfection! Last night we had the most kind and amazing waitress Molly, she was very knowledgeable with the wine selection and lead us to the perfect bottle! She recommended a few different appetizers and entrees that were all very delicious! We are looking forward to our next visit!
What an incredible experience! Mariposa is nestled
What an incredible experience! Mariposa is nestled perfectly in the majestic mountains of Sedona. We sat outside during golden hour & it was nothing short of spectacular. Our waiter was very friendly & knowledgeable. He provided great suggestions during our visit. We started off with the beef empanadas. They were FANTASTIC with that chimichuri sauce. For dinner, I got the pescado paradiso & subbed the rice for garlic mashed potatoes. Fiance got the vaquero entree. Everything was flavorful. Our only complaint was the amount of flies that were on the patio. They did their best to combat this by putting out fly flans to keep them away. Not going to lie, it was a bit of a problem. On a brighter note - THE PRICKLY PEAR CHEESECAKE IS A MUST TRY! It may have been the best cheesecake I have ever tasted. Mariposa is definitely at the top of our recommendation list for the Sedona food scene!
Eesh, this place is an instagram restaurant for sure.
Really pretty on the outside (and inside) but lacking substance. From the moment we got there the service felt rushed and sloppy. Server was basically MIA and was more focused with upselling than answering our questions. I ordered a salad for my meal and it tasted like rabbit food and had barely any dressing or toppings like it was supposed to couldn't even get our servers attention for extra dressing. Ahi parfait felt very mayo heavy and the empanadas were dry. I got cute photos though!
We were greeted immediately upon arrival; the staff was
We were greeted immediately upon arrival; the staff was attentive and very helpful in making recommendations. The beef Empanadas are definitely worth trying. The Chilean sea bass was fantastic, as was the skirt steak, which was enhanced by the tasty chimichurri sauce. The churros, just out of the fryer, were delicious. We were seated outside and were able to see a beautiful Sedona sunset.

Actually a manager was called over just to inform me they had nothing but lettuce with no dressing and even the lettuce ice cream had some type of peppers....
A Gem Along Highway 89a!
Stopped here for lunch after a helicopter tour of Sedona. Absolutely beautiful restaurant and I was so glad to see they enforce a dress code! The staff were wonderful, the food was fantastic, and the drinks were great with the view. We will definitely make it a point to come back if we are in the area again!
Great Sunset Evening
This was our first time visiting Sedona and we wanted to try Mariposa as we are fans of Lisa Dahl. Having read and used her cookbooks in the past, we wanted to make sure we had a chance to eat at one of her restaurants. The food was great. We had the filet and the seafood special. As a side we got asparagus and the mac and cheese, both were awesome. The timing could not have been more perfect as we were able to see the changes in the red rock as the sun set. The wait staff was attentive and on point. The whole evening was a highlight of our trip!
Location location location - food just meh
We got SO lucky and chose an absolutely gorgeous night to visit. Sunset was spectacular and counter-balanced by the full Strawberry moon rise in the other direction. Our take on the experience: Location: 5 stars. Beautiful night and such a lovely place! Service: 3 stars. Our reservation was at 8:30. Servers were good but entrees were slow to arrive and we felt rushed out at the end of our meal as a result. Food: 3 stars. Empanadas and yucca fries were great, entrees not so much. Two of us got the strip steak and it was tough, oily and lacking flavor. Key lime pie was delish. I will say that I've eaten here once before and it was fantastic so maybe just an off night.
Dinner with Sunset View
The food and views from Mariposa are unlike any other restaurant in Sedona! We made reservations 4 months ago and somehow we did not show up in their system, but they quickly made room for us without any event. Their yucca fries were divine! I had their kale salad and my husband had a ribeye with chimchurri. He said it was the best steak he has ever had!
Best restaurant in Sedona - stunning views!
Incredible delectable dishes and vegetarian friendly! Went for our anniversary dinner and even though we went last minute were seated at a cool high top table with a great view! Reservations are hard to snag so make them weeks in advance during high season and ask for good tables if possible. Pricey menu but not outrageous, but for the curated menu it is well worth it. Excellent service.
Great atmosphere and service, food ok
We actually arrived an hour ahead of our reservation since we were ahead of our schedule, and the wait staff was flexible enough to put us at the bar which was fine with us. The bar staff, even though quite busy, was very engaging and were extremely helpful as we navigated through the menu. The bar and wine selections are extensive and the wait staff do a great job in guiding you through their recommendations and pairings. For this visit, my wife had the Rustic Airplane Chicken and I had the Scottish Trout. The chicken dish had an incredible sauce that went with the moist chicken breast, the only negative is that the mashed potatoes soaked up the sauce during the meal and diffused the taste. Unfortunately the steelhead trout was underwhelming. It was slightly dry and the seasoning/herbs did nothing to enhance the flavor of the fish, which ended up being just a bland pallet. In my opinion, if you are going to charge top dollar for a dish using steelhead trout, it needs to have some degree of complexity or savoriness. This was disappointing. The property is quite beautiful and is a popular location for the Sedona area, so reservations need to be made days ahed - especially if you want a time between 6 and 8pm. There is a gentle dress code, which we appreciated - so no hats, flip flops, t-shirts, or athletic shorts. There is outdoor seating available with misting hoses, which is mostly shaded, but I would suggest only if you are eating 7pm or later if it is in the hot summer day. Overall, this restaurant offers a great atmosphere and great service. Just not sure the food quality justifies the price.
Amazing lunch, wish we had time to go for dinner!
Amazing lunch , wish we had known about this restaurant sooner as it was our last day in Sedona. Sally was our waitress and she was fantastic. We bought the cookbook in hopes of trying to make some of the recipes . Left me craving more yucca fries . just a phenomenal place to eat and drink . Was our favorite.
Beautiful setting, good food too!
A very nice restaurant with impressive views, we ate al fresco for lunch and all thought this was the best place to eat our last meal before leaving Sedona that afternoon. Booking was difficult and we didn’t manage to book in over the weekend for dinner but managed to get a table at lunchtime on the Monday. The restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking the landscape just outside Sedona, we could have sat all day and enjoyed the views and atmosphere within the restaurant outdoor area. For lunch we started with the handmade empanadas which were very good and tasty for mains I had a the pulled pork tostadas, my husband had the fish tacos, everything was very well presented and delivered on flavour. The only niggle was the sparkling water that we all choose to drink, they only had small bottles of San Pellegrino, I think we had 4 or 5 bottle and it soon added up and when we got the bill it was quite expensive. We had a leisurely lunch and enjoyed everything we tried, if we visit Sedona we will definitely be back.
Very honest review
Drawn by its prime location and positive reviews, my husband and I chose Mariposa for our final meal in Sedona. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. At the entrance, a woman with short blonde hair made derogatory comments about guests' outfits through her headset, which struck us as impolite and disrespectful. Despite our initial discomfort, we proceeded to our table, hoping the food would redeem the experience. Sadly, it did not. We hoped the food would redeem the experience, but it fell far short of our expectations. While the Yuca fries and salad were acceptable, the entrees were deeply disappointing. The skirt steak was overly fatty and excessively salted, and the Flores del Mar, supposedly made with an aromatic saffron-elixir broth, lacked any hint of saffron and the seafood was overcooked, dry, and very salty. Our waiter, noticing our dissatisfaction, offered complimentary scallops, which we politely declined. Despite this, he brought them anyway, and they turned out to be over-grilled and overly salty, with a steak-like flavor. The general manager then approached us, having heard about our issues. We explained the problems with our meals, and she loudly apologized, promising to "adjust it." However, no corrective action was taken. Was it an act? We were charged the full $200 bill, including the tip, with no further follow-up from the manager. Overall, the pretentious atmosphere and unprofessional behavior overshadowed our dining experience, leaving us deeply disappointed and tarnishing our vacation. Despite the beautiful venue, the service and food quality were severely lacking. It’s a shame that such a promising restaurant failed to show honesty, appreciation, and humility to its guests.

From our initial re-seating to the spectacular view, the service was top notch by our most professional server, Diego. Our cocktails all came out fresh and delicious. Our tapas were all appreciated and really delicious- with our favorite being the mussels con chorizo in roasted tomato broth. The dining service was well paced and we didn't feel rushed or neglected in a busy Thursday night service. We ended the meal with some delightful desserts, including the maple coconut flan. We enjoyed our meal so much that we purchased two of Lisa Dahl's cookbooks to try our hand at making some of our favorite dishes and drinks! We will be back next time we are in Sedona!
Go for the Octopus
Sat at the bar and food service was excellent. All food ordered was really well prepared and presented. Place was very busy on a weeknight. Make reservations early or ahead of time. And if you like grilled Octopus, this may be the best you’ve ever had!
First the views and atmosphere are world class and our
First the views and atmosphere are world class and our service was mostly good. The waiter was pushing the "bartenders special old fashion". I decided I would have an old fashion but have learned to ask the price; $28! I shouldn't have to ask the price of a special cocktail not on any of the menus. How many people don't realize they just ordered a nearly double priced cocktail, or two three. Chorizo empanadas appetizer was very good. Wife had Flores Del Mar. The shrimp and lobster were way over cooked and tough. She left one of only two shrimp on the plate, I wouldn't even eat it. She also felt the dish was too spicy since the menus didn't mention spicy. Overall not well prepared. I had the ribeye. It was average with no marbling and a little tough. I kept wishing I had a sharper knife. The waiter didn't come to check on us until we were done. We told him of our disappointments. A manager came over. She said we should have said something. First; no one asked. Second, we prefer to eat together when we are spending $250. If one of us sends a dish back we don't eat together, ruining our experience. Third; it should be their job to get it right the first time. She took $16 off of our $250 bill. We were not looking for a discount, I wanted her to know of our concerns, but after looking at some reviews I see these issues are not new. So, drinks and meal average, views excellent; but aren't the views great everywhere in Sedona? Lesson learned.
Nothing special about the food.
You are going mainly for the ambience and the view. Service was prompt and professional. We had their signature burger and the Cubano deluxe. The beef patty was cooked to my liking but the sliced up lettuce and sauce weren't up to par. Sorry to say this but In and Out was much better. The cubano deluxe was flavorful; bread was toasted well and pickles had the right amount of brininess. Maybe dinner is much better but I don't see this as a must do restaurant.
Super bummed.
We got reservations here a couple of months prior to our arrival. The restaurant itself is lovely. We had rainy foggy weather during our visit so sadly we didn't get an opportunity to marvel in the amazing views of the sun-tipped red rocks but that's ok. All staff were remarkable. From the gentleman at the door checking us in, to the hostess desk, to our server Shelly. Everyone was very kind and friendly. We ordered 2 silver Patron margaritas on the rocks no salt. They didn't taste as they should have (we always order silver Patron margaritas wherever we go)- and we found out later, as per our bill, they were denoted as Skinny Patron Margaritas.... yea... that explained a lot. We started off with the Caesar salad with anchovies and the anchovies had an overly fishy and sour taste. Completely inedible so we worked around the salad and just made it work. The empanadas and chimichurri were outstanding! I ordered the skirt steak and the steak was overcooked, and the potatoes and beans were cold. My husband ordered the ribeye and it lacked flavor. The a la carte Au Gratin potatoes were also cold and lacked flavor. We didn't eat those either. He also ordered a caipirinha which is something we also commonly order at Brazilian restaurants. The caipirinha was too sweet and also missed the mark on flavor. The coup de grâce was receiving the bill for such a disappointing experience. Of course we said nothing, as we're not the "whiny" type and certainly don't expect "favors" on our bill.... but if you come here... plan on at least $125 per person. We knew the price going in. No surprises there. Was just super bummed to pay such a high bill for the lack of "wow" that this establishment commands. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Sadly we won't be recommending.
If you want breathtaking views and delicious food, this is
If you want breathtaking views and delicious food, this is a must in Sedona. Enjoy empanadas while taking in the pretty picturesque mountains and share a caesar salad with your table. You can't go wrong with the yucca fries or the homemade soup, either! Unfortunately, we were too hungry to take a photo. Friendly staff and an exquisite restaurant!
Fantastic restaurant.
My daughter and I were in Sedona for a spring break trip. I decided to make reservations due to the recommendation of a social media page. We were not disappointed. Beautiful restaurant with great views. While waiting for a table we met a couple families and shared experiences and received great recommendations for the area. Seated shortly after our reservation time. The food was amazing. Handmade empanadas were delicious. I had the Sea Bass and my daughter had the filet. Both were amazing. Dessert was the cheesecake and churros. Will definitely return.
The flavor I was looking for!
Absolutely stunning restaurant- inside and out! Ambience 10/10. Sadly, winter weather didn’t permit for us to enjoy the sunset with the restaurant’s panoramic views as planned but it was spectacular nonetheless. The service from the door to floor was excellent and to say the food was anything less than impeccable would be insulting. From the octopus to the butternut squash soup to the lemon mashed potatoes with arugula and almonds and every succulent bite in between, our meal was delicious, unique, and full of Latin flavor! To top off the night, they treated us with a scoop of gelato with a churro topping to celebrate our anniversary - so delicious and thoughtful!

It dawned on me that I failed to rate this awesome spot in Sedona from a birthday dinner I enjoyed a while back. I would love to go back again, my first experience at Mariposa was delightful. We enjoyed drinks, a steak dinner, and desert. All with the red rocks of Sedona as our focal point. The Mountain View's really give the Mariposa such great ambience. I mean, it's Sedona, anywhere you look is beautiful. Service was excellent, the food was delish, and I couldn't ask for better company.

What a cool place!! Loved the food and the servers were mostly all bilingual and so proud of the food and ingredients! Awesome atmosphere, will definitely be back!
A Simply Fabulous Eatery.
The, Sedona based, Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill is a South American inspired grill that enjoys rave reviews and compositions of food equally astonishing. The views from the patios and dining. are naturally superior with panoramic scenes of Sedona's red rock's majesty or star filled sky as a magical backdrop to the dining experience. The culinary team uses a wood fired grill and wood burning oven to create a unique menu of Latin based cuisine like: Yellowfin Tuna, Grilled Octopus, 3 variants of empanadas and more......I jumped all over the Shrimp Ceviche and dove into the Gelato as my sweet tooth satisfier. At the Mariposa, the food, service, ambience and scenery are fabulous.
Gorgeous place with amazing views.
Food was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Shout out to one of the best waiters I've had in years...Brian! He loves his job and is engaging & helpful! We had a fantastic time and hope to visit again next time our travels bring us to Sedona!

Food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. Wait staff were great. Highly recommend the prickly pear cheesecake. Make a reservation!
Not sure what was better.
The view or the service. Probably the service. Made my fam of 5 feel like royalty. Leo and John were our waiters and were awesome. Leo had great suggestions (Filet, mashed potatoes w/lobster, prickly pear cheesecake) that we decided to get. Amazing dishes w/excellent flavor. More than enough to eat. The sides themselves could be a meal lol. The view is just ridiculous. Next time in Sedona we'll be back.

Looking forward to visiting Mariposa again sooner than later! The food and overall vibe was 5/5 stars! I do hope to plan further in advance to get dining room seating for the next time. Our party of 4 was seated in a high-top table near the bar, overall still a great experience! The noise level was a bit higher though, but our waiter was amazing and Ms. Lisa Dahl herself greeted us and asked how our meal was which was an awesome ode to end the night.
Outstanding.
We had dinner here last night and it was delicious. Sitting at the bar, we were able to watch a large screen video all about Lisa Dahl and her travels through areas in South America. The video showed cooking of all kinds of delicious recipes. The food was outstanding. The ambience even at the bar was great. The dining room looked amazing too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Don’t forget the reservations. Chloe our server was lovely too.
You owe to yourself to dine here
If you’re planning a trip to Sedona, BE SURE to make a dinner reservation here in advance. You’ll thank both me and yourself. Flores del Mer and Skirt Steak entrees were great. We don’t usually have dessert, but opted for their version of flan. In a word? Fabulous. The service was perfect, too
delicious steaks
The most delicious steaks of my life. Juicy and perfectly cooked. An ideal dinner with wine and a stunning view of the mountains.
Beautiful views with less than an average food
Mariposa has beautiful views and a chic interior. Unfortunately it does not offer the food to match. Despite being described as “Latin inspired” our food was bland and lacking any inspiration. My burger greatly lacked salt/seasoning. The ceviche seemed to be doused in watered down bottled ketchup. Yuca fries and mac n cheese were probably the best items on the menu. Disappointing.
Average dinner @ high end prices
A little let down. Atmosphere was more hotel restaurant than high end romantic dinner. Service was a bit robotic (reciting of specials, ties and vests). A the food was…just ok. Not bad, but definitively not up to the reputation or prices. Hate to right touchy reviews, but here it is.
Poor Experience
Disappointing. The food was definitely not inspired - by any stretch. The service was stiff and scripted. The experience was poor. The hype and reviews belie the lack of authenticity and sincerity. From the draconian welcome by security to the monotone description of desert, which we skipped for sure. Ignore the rave and find a real place to eat in Sedona.
Great food and view!
Food was amazing. Go for lunch because the view is spectacular! We were not able to get dinner reservations and were so happy we didn’t because lunch is more casual and views stunning.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
