Best hole in the wall spot for food ever.
When I worked in the area I frequented margon often. They give you sooo much quality food for such an amazing price. I hope they stay in business for years to come.

I have searched high and low for affordable lunch in midtown. I mean real comfort food, like you make at home. If you truly want a meal that make you feel good Margon's is the place to go.

The moment you step into this narrow space, you'll enter a down to earth food business with down to earth people making your food. The ambience and vibes are iconic of a fast and delicious lunch spot. Cuban sandwich was decent. I don't think I've had many but overall not my favorite sandwich. I thought the pickle and mustard set up was interesting but the cheese just wasn't melty enough for me, the bread not as soft as I would like for the textures (pork was also a little dry). What took my interest though was the more traditional Cuban food they had going on display - their authentic food actually seemed way more appealing so I'll definitely be revisiting this place. Giving this around an 8 because the rice side that came with the sandwich - includes rice, beans, a chicken drumstick, and a plantain - was genuinely tasty! This place probably has better authentic Cuban food than they do sandwiches. Also, the owner is a sweet lady who gave us free pineapple slushees while waiting in line just for striking conversation and interest! Great service overall and promising Cuban food.

.. Good Food, Good Service, Same Small Clean Eating Area, and Smiles. The food was fresh and delicious as usual. Fried Whole Red Snapper was done to perfection and topped with pickled onions amd some beef gravy. Hefty side of white rice, beans, and tostones. Fried Chicken Chunks with yellow rice, beans, and murduros was also fresh and delish. If you are in the area definitely stop in for some homestyle food.

How did I not know if this place when I worked a block away years ago!!!! Comfort Cuban food in a lay back casual restaurant. My go to is the oxtail and the roast chicken with rice and beans.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic hole in the wall find.
Make sure you get the Cuban coffee, and don't miss out on the hot sandwiches. We've been back every day of our trip because the folks have been so welcoming!
Be the first to ReplyLove hole in the wall places like these.
They have daily specials too aside from their regular ones. We had the Cubano, Oxtail and the Octopus Salad. We also got to try some others like fried chicken and salcocho ? Unsure about spelling. Affordable, clean and friendly service.

I ordered the Medianoche but they were out of the potato bread. They recommended the Cuban in stead (same meat and toppings, different bread). It was delicious. Very friendly atmosphere and prompt service. I don't really speak Spanish but they were very polite with my weak attempt to order. (And I'm sure they would have understood if I just ordered in English)
Be the first to ReplySad to report this spot has become a victim of its success.
now the portions are half the size and twice the price.the food is still delicious but it's no longer a bargain. And that's really what made it special. If you're willing to pay $45 for two small portions of rice and beans then be my guest. Another one bites the dust.

Truly a hole-in-the-wall! Food was simply exceptional and flavorful. The chicken was to die far - extremely well cooked and juicy. Service felt were homey and warm. We were served by this lovely woman who tried to recommend us the best dishes. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Be the first to ReplyBusy Cuban lunch spot for home style Latin food.
Place is particularly popular for Cubano sandwiches and on the last visit a good dozen people were waiting just for that. I opted for the pernil pork chicheron with yellow rice, mojo and pickled onions. Hit the spot on a cold winter day. I wish the pernil was a bit less dry and rice felt a bit overcooked.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for my 17th birthday.
It's one of the most popular Cuban places for good reason! Best Cuban sandwich I've ever ate. It's small and not much to look at, but it wasn't crowded. The rice and beans the sandwiches are served with were divine! Five stars, a must go if you're in NYC!
Be the first to ReplyOrder the Cuban sandwich.
Trust me. You won't regret it. I also ordered the potato salad which is by far the best I've ever had. I don't know if they always offer it but it was there when I visited in February of 2022. The staff is super friendly and the overall feel of the place is just good vibes all around. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyClassic Cuban in the Times Square 'hood.
Avoid the tourist traps and chains - hit this hip, old school spot with your Cuban favorites at affordable (for NYC, at least) prices! Loved the Cuban Sandwich and pressed Grilled Cheese was excellent comfort food on a cold winter day. Decor resembles a cafeteria but you're here for the food/experience, not the ambiance!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Cuban spot.
Get there early if you wanna dine in, its tight! The menu rotates daily, but I believe the sandwiches are available daily.Got there with a buddy right as they were putting out the daily specials at 11. Ended up getting the pork with orange rice and beans. All for about $15 or so. They do take card.Pork was really good. They give you a piece of fried pork chicharron as well. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and smooth buttery fatty on the inside. The rice and beans were good too. They have some house hot sauce that had a nice tangy and slightly sweet flavor at the table as well for those who need a little kick.Highly recommend this spot that's been around a long time. Surprised it took me this long to get here.

Traditional and authentic. We loved Margon. Atmosphere was lacking a bit but the food was fabulous.
Be the first to ReplyNice Cuban spot.
Food here is very good. Real old feel to it, surrounded by a revitalized Times Square. The contrast adds to the charm of the place, which is why I give it 5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyGood sandwiches and authentic NYC experience.
People were friendly and service was pretty quick. We tried the steak and roast pork sandwiches, both delicious and tasty. The one thing I liked about the roasted pork was that it was moisturized and not greasy. Will I come back? Definitely yes when I'm in NYC again

Staff is very friendly and food is amazing! Very good cubano and coffee. Definitely a hidden gem in Times Square. You're not going to find better Cuban food in Midtown. I will definitely be coming back soon!
Be the first to ReplySo far the best customer service I've experienced in NY.
Shoutout to Giovanni for making it feels so welcoming to dine here!! Must get!Oatmeal: if you're a fan of cinnamon, then get it!Cuban coffee: so good!!Empanadas: buttery and flaky! Loved it!Mangu: salami, runny eggs, mash potatoes and picked onions, it's the perfect bite

I found out about Margon when I was looking for recommendations for hole-in-the-wall's in NYC. I love Cuban food and getting it in a fast-casual way is great especially if you want a quick lunch. Of course, I got the Cubano sandwich! They made it fresh, so it was pipin' hot when handed to me. Let me tell you... I could die and lay in this sandwich. It's so good. The pickles and mustard are in perfect balance. AND the ooey gooey cheese? Yum! Guys, go get it. Get it. Seriously. Did you get it yet? Each day, there are lunch specials and I came on a Tuesday. So! I also got the fried chicken chunks, which came with rice&beans and plantains. I actually ate this the following day. The fried chicken chunks were still pretty good (thank you, air fryer). I wasn't that amazed with the white rice and beans. I also had my choice of yellow rice or fried rice, too. I think the rice was just a bit too soft for my taste. I would have liked more plantains since they didn't give much. I think I'll come back to try the oxtail since that's a Monday special. The place itself gave me retro diner vs 90s school cafeteria vibes. The staff was very friendly and basically made me feel like I was a regular even though it was my first time. You already know that I'll be back soon, so why don't you go, too?
Be the first to ReplyPlace was packed when my husband and I arrived around 1pm.
I was a little confused as to where to order food by a nice regular pointed us in the right direction and told us to order the cubano - which we did! In all we ordered: Cubano - so so so good. The pork in this sandwhich was so flavorful and I enjoyed the addition of the salami. I'm not normally a pickle gal but it really completes the sandwich. Fried chicken chunks - crispy, crunchy, delicious. Black beans, yellow rice, and plantains - best beans and rice I've had in a long time. Super flavorful without being overly salty. I enjoyed the sweetness of the plantain. The portions are HUGE. My husband and I couldn't finish the chicken, and had a lot of beans and rice leftover.

December 2021 - COVID Review:Definitely a great hole in the wall find! Their menu offers various daily specials. I'm glad I was able to go when oxtail was one of those specials! The oxtail was super tender and flavorful. It came with a side of rice and beans and plantains, which were also good. My husband got the cubano sandwich and the bread was nice and crispy. The restaurant is a little cramped and narrow but there's still a number of tables available for indoor seating. The staff were also really nice!

Disgusting breakfast food, I ordered a platter looking to give a small business my hats earned money and was utterly disappointed by what I had in my plate, but he lady was nice but the cook looked like someone who should not be behind a grill, I basically got a plate full of grease my eggs were not cooked along with my rubber like bacon then he gave me home fries made from French fries!!! Are you serious??!! What a joke of a establishment try your luck and save your bucks for something worthwhile because this hole in the wall is exactly that A HOLE smdh
