I just waited forty minutes for someone to take my order--at which point, after a number of the waitstaff passed by with evidently zero interest in staking my order, I couldn't take any more and my friend and I left. No one seemed to notice. Very odd experience. Nice place, but....nope.

Service was the worst I've ever experienced in my entire life. The manager was part of the problem. I asked him to take a plate away from the table and he stared at me like I betrayed his family. The waiter never said a word to us either. The food was extremely over priced and terrible. do not come here if you are looking for a nice meal.

I would go to Margaux way more often if my finances allowed because their turkey meatballs won me over. The first time I went, I was surprised they had turkey meatballs because typically restaurants mix their meats to include pork. The rigatoni and meatballs were *chef's kiss.* The decor makes me feel like I'm in a European restaurant and I love it. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean which makes for a comfortable atmosphere. I'd definitely come back!

If you are looking for a casual, idiosyncratic place to hang out, have a bite or a drink, this place is incredibly relaxed and cute. The chicken paillard is a great deal.

Went here for some late night drinks and had a nightmare of an experience. The manager there, I think his name was Mike, was extremely rude and ill mannered. Five minutes before closing he started kicking everybody out with very aggressive tone and body language. Started going table to table harassing people telling them "you need to get out, now!" As it was happening everyone was just in shock. What is worse outside, he started yelling that everyone that was there, were "garbage". This is a white man, in his 40s I think, telling some Black women that they were garbage, in the middle of NYC. We just could not believe it. On top of that as he is leaving we see he is leaving with a woman, so we assume that that was the reason he was in such a hurry. What a shame, this guy needs a new job and they need a new manager.
Be the first to ReplySweet spot.
Come for the ambiance and the drinks not necessarily the food. Waiters are either super nice or super checked out. I have a soft spot for this place because it's darling and charismatic. The cheese plate is very simple and not that great

Excessively slow service. Restaurant was maybe 30% full when I showed up, and they sat me at a table that hadn't been cleared of dishes from the last person. I was not presented with the menu that is posted online (which was the menu I had come for). My table was grimy and the bathrooms smelled of urine. Not. Good.

Cutest interior and they did a good job with their covid outdoor area. The dining-wear is also lovely. Try any of their roses. Food is good, but the ambiance is what keeps me going back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, they were very attentive and friendly.
We got farmers appetizer to share and I got the shrimp orecchiette. I'm not sure if I like the appetizer as the flatbreads were very oily and filled me up quick. For the price too, not sure if it was worth it. The pasta was good and I enjoyed it. It's a very comfy and cute atmosphere. There's a lounge area with a bar and a fireplace too! It's located inside a hotel FYI

My mother was visiting and I wanted to bring her out to a nice breakfast. When I looked up places in the neighborhood I found this place saw pictures of the cute enclosed patio and the menu looked good. The dining room was charming but beyond the ambiance everything else was disappointing. First of all we were seated for 10 minutes before a waitress came over to give us water and take our drink order, and that was the last time we saw her for quite a while. We both ordered scrambled eggs and sausage, which were brought out by someone else, and at that time I also ordered toast from the gentleman, which he also brought to our table. Our eggs were lukewarm, the sausage (vegan for me, chicken for my mother) were ok but not great. My cappuccino was excellent (someone actually knew how to make a cappuccino instead of trying to pass off a latte) but my mother's coffee was very bitter and even after adding more milk and sugar she couldn't drink it and left most of it untouched. The waitress didn't come by to check on us until we were basically finished with our meal, and at that point she really just came to refill our water bottle. A server should check on guests withing a few minutes of receiving food so any issues can be resolved and expedited. Our empty plates were sitting for 10 minutes before she came to ask if we would like the check. Before that happened I had gone to the bathroom and saw her in the other room just playing with her phone. After she brought the check she didn't come back so I brought it up to pay on my own (she was around the corner on her phone again). This whole time there were dirty dishes just left on our table and hadn't been cleared by the time we left. Service like this would be almost understandable if the restaurant were slammed but the entire patio was empty aside from us, the the other room before it only had people at one table. I always leave at least a 20% tip, but not today. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

Stopped by Margaux for a drink in this cold and windy weather with my friend following his recommendation. I loved the place since I stepped in. However; the service leaves a lot to be desired. We sat in front of the bar, we were not immediately acknowledged, waitress came, with ONE menu, we had to take turns. Hot toddy and a Cosmo we asked, which by the way came in different moments. hot toddy was fine as for the Cosmo, it just tasted like a sweet lemonade, I requested a waiter to change it, as we rarely saw our waitress, somebody came (think the manager) to confirm my cosmo, then waitress came and took it, they made another one, much better. The bartender politely came to check on us and the new cosmo which I gladly appreciated. We only had the pleasure to see our waitress a couples of times , dropping the check was one of them and just to discover that she just had charged me house premium vodka which she never asked on the first place what kind of vodka I wanted, she just assumed I wanted the priciest vodka on the menu! I felt ripped off. What a shame as it is a beautiful, classy, quiet restaurant bar.

I liked the atmosphere a lot more than the food, but Margaux, located in The Marlton Hotel (a new discovery for me), served as a solid spot to grab a bite and then chill at the hotel lobby. The mood and vibe was definitely cozy and inviting. Service was about average.I started with crisp Rose which was quite good. I think--from what I read--the menu changes and that could be true as I didn't see the Eggplant Parm on the menu.We started with the Farmer's Board which was really good.It included sea salt crackers (more like a focaccia style in my opinion) accompanied by very delicious vegetarian spreads such as red quinoa tabouli, kale harissa, spicy smashed sweet potato, avocado hummus, beets, grains of paradise. The spicy sweet potato was my favorite. For main we shared the Eggplant Parmigiana which was not too flavorful (average) and Red Quinoa plate with spring onions, broccoli di cicco, asparagus and heirloom carrots. This also was not too memorable.Overall, the experience and the space was nice and I would consider returning to try something else on the menu and/or dessert.
Be the first to ReplyThis time I was here for dinner, with a group of friends.
The space is pretty and warm, just like I remembered. We started with a nice bottle of North Fork red from Shinn Estate -- props for having a good selection of local wines. For apps, we shared a large "Farmer's Board," with 4 veggie-friendly dips:-Red Quinoa Tabouli, Kale Harissa-Spicy Smashed Sweet Potato-Avocado Hummus-Beets, Grains of ParadiseAll the dips were wonderful, and the spicy sweet potato and beets really stood out.For mains, the ladies ordered a veggie pasta while the men ordered steak -- New York Strip, I believe. A wise decision, though squid ink bucatini also looked interesting.Margaux is one of the better hotel restaurants I have been to. Be wary of your tab, which can run very, very long.
Be the first to ReplyCute homey spot.
Both food and service were alright. The good-Grilled mozzarella with lemon was pretty good. The touch of lemon was refreshing.Smoked Salmon Tartar was tasty but an expected flavor. The not so good-Kale Salad was tasteless.Turkey meatballs was weird.Service was little forgetful. Forgot our wine, forgot when we asked for menu again.Cocktails were good and lots of options!

While the food was OK (not great) the service was lack luster. We were greeted by a very unfriendly host. Our waiter was nice but completely inattentive. We had to flag him down to ask for additional drinks or water and this was while he was conversing with other waitstaff so it wasn't due to the restaurant being too busy. I work in an industry where we have to take clients out frequently and will say, this is not the place if you want to make a good impression with clients or anyone for that matter. As a native NY'er, and someone who has been to many restaurants in this city I would say take your business elsewhere.
