Great spot in a cool city
The atmosphere here was great, it's a busy little spot creating a great vibe. Staff were knowledgeable and efficient but perhaps a little under pressure on a busy night as the service was slightly slower than would be expected for a restaurant o
Very Special
First time here and the experience was 10 out of 10.The decor and layout is lovely ( came for lunch and it was a perfect sunny Spring day) and the service attentive and efficient. The food was amazing and there wasn’t a single thing on the menu I
Birthday party
We came to celebrate birthday with the family 14 adults and one child food very good service good a small mistake but was fixed Parking in the street facility was good
Burnt, chewy steak and cold food!
Underwhelming and overpriced - absolutely does not live up to its many accolades. All social media hype and nonsense to feed the overinflated egos of its vain, haughty clientele. We ordered garlic bread to start (highly recommended), then Korean st
Exceptional setting,outstanding ingredients accomplished technique
Family flew up from Melbourne to celebrate a birthday. Perfect space, thoughtful service ,memorable coral trout the coffee was very good.
Very Disappointed
I was so disappointed! People had told me they had the best fish of their lives at Magaret and that their steak had won awards but I was sorely disappointed from start to finish. We had a large selection of starters and the only stand out was the Tun
Was ok, not amazing. Steak better at Rockpool
For a Sunday night the inside was full even though we had a booking. There were strong heaters and blankets so we weren’t cold. Came here for a birthday so it was a special occasion. For the price they charged, the service and food was ok…I found
Great experience, but.
We were a group of 5 inside for lunch. The food and service were excellent, as usual, but the restaurant was so noisy we struggled to hear each other from the increasingly loud voices of other guests. It is difficult for a restaurant to stop groups of
Follow the crowd
Very busy place on Sunday Lunch. Service was attentive. Food was good but very expensive for rather small serves. Cocktails likewise. We didn't mind as it was a special occasion.
The food overall was underwhelming
The food overall was underwhelming. The steak was average with not much flavour, and the chocolate desert cake was bland. On the positive side, the prawns were really nice. 150ml glass of wine $30, cocktail $28 classic Margarita — definitely overpr
Lovely Food in a Lovely environment with excellent service.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch on a sunny Friday in July. The fish wing special & buffalo mozzarella were both delicious. The tuna with macadamia sauce was perfect while the wagyu beef was nice, stand out dish was the banana soufflé- huge & delic
Margret failed to impress
We went to Song Bird over Easter, sister restaurant up the road. That was amazing. Unfortunately, Margaret was not the same experience. A dismissive maître d on arrival was a put off! The waiter was in our face, like let us eat our food in peace plea
Sunday lunch
Very impressed with the service! Best we have had and we’ve been to many restaurants. There are many staff so they can be very attentive, pleasant and their attention to detail with table service was excellent. Food was delicious only two things…
Expensive and badly cooked steak
The starters were great - delicious oysters. Followed by ceviche and the salmon roe. Then amazing Pipis in XO sauce. But the ribeye steak we ordered medium rare was bloody red, which had probably got a selfie of a flame but not actually been anywhere
Superb special-occasion restaurant
We had the most marvellous meal for a family celebration. Every dish was to be savoured and the waitstaff were attentive and helpful. Margaret is, for us, a superb special-occasion restaurant.
Memorable, even without the selfie.
So many people of our acquaintance have had nothing but great things to say about this place, and we've been lusting after it for a while. Our 45th wedding anniversary fell on a Sunday night, and since my beloved life partner's name is Margaret, our
Delicious food. Extensive menu. First sitting time restrictions too short for a group. Felt pressured by staff.
There were five of us and we had the early 6-00pm sitting on a Friday night. There was already quite a queue when we arrived at the front door and this took some time to clear before we were seated. We were then given the quite extensive menu to per
Exquisite cuisine but very high prices and hopeless parking
Food was excellent but overpriced (eg $7.50 per oyster) and the two hour time slot only just worked for two people - too short for larger groups. Overall very nice but expensive food, good service except for being reminded to leave at 1 hour and 40
Great dining experience
Given its celebrity chef ownership, Margaret , based in the high end Double Bay area is neither pretentious or over priced. It feels and looks like a successful restaurant from the moment you walk in. The blue fin tuna and veal rump were both outstan
Don’t bother much better seafood options exist…
This was my second visit to Margaret and my last , booked months ago from the moment we sat down we were rushed , two half glasses of average champagne $ 40 each far from exceptional, again we were asked threes times in the period of 15 minutes what
Magnificent
For some reason I have never been a fan of Neil Perry’s, notwithstanding the fact that I had never walked through any door of his. Today, after last night’s dinner, I can’t wait to go back. Cerviche, crab salad and prawns for entree - all fre
Up to expectations
Great Restaurant, good casual atmosphere, food was good, as expected, service exceptional, plenty of staff to look after you. Good size menu. We both had fish dishes which were wood fire cooked. Decent serve but need to order sides. We had Wentwort
Lunch at DB
The service was exemplary starting with being shown to our table and the attentive wait staff. We shared tuna tartare, potato rosti with salmon roe and chargrilled zucchini. For mains we shared the roast chicken with eggplant puree with chargrilled c
Honesty is essential
Given the widespread prevalence of food allergies, it’s essential that diners can be certain that the waiter will give honest answers to their questions. I have no allergies, but I do enjoy cutting into a thick, juicy steak. Accordingly, when orde
Book a table, it’s worth the wait.
Lucky to get a table here. This is my new favourite Sydney restaurant! Very good vibe buzzing with conversation. The food is outstanding. Seafood and fish in abundance. A great selection of raw and cooked entrees and wood grilled mains , steaks and
Upgraded
All I can say is they improved so much and we enjoyed greatly with their new menu. Neil Perry got his mojo back, the food is delicious and the flavor is well balanced. The only downside, actually for most of restaurants in Sydney is a bit noisy.
A special dining experience
This is an exceptional family run restaurant, and right up there with the very best in Sydney. The staff are incredible, always happy, friendly and accommodating, the food is superb, and it just has a lovely relaxed and classy atmosphere. Importantly
Does not live up to expectations
Work needs to be done on size of the desserts and the plating. Very non inspirational particularly for a hatted restaurant. Would fail Masterchef.
Delicious food
We had a birthday voucher and went for lunch. Entrees albacore tuna and burrata with extras were excellent as werethe prawns and squid. Restaurant was full approx 80-100 people and we counted 30 staff. Will be back
Top Notch!
This is a great place to eat. The service was friendly and top notch - and the food was so delicious. They chatted with us and got to know us through the night.
The entire experience was first class.
My wife and I both looked forward to the venue in view of its recent award. We found the food and service was perfect and not overbearing. The time between servings perfect. My only comment would be I liked my steak Tartare (entree) a little spicier
Perfect Birthday Outing
An upmarket offering with amazing attention to detail. The menu itself is a work of art The staff were very attentive and friendly. We shared a few entrees which were delicious, mushrooms and prawns. I had a fish main, swordfish which was melt in
Anniversary Lunch
Sought a special place for a special occasion, very hot day, arrived at 5 to 12, they open at 12, we entered and were told they were not open yet so we would have to wait outside in the hot weather, so not the best start. Once we re -entered we were
Delicious food, beautifully calm interior, delightful service.
Delicious food, beautifully calm interior, delightful service. Appreciated the attention to all details like the gorgeous photography on the menu. Coral trout wings were fun to try.
Not Welcoming for Single Females Eating Alone
The restaurant is lovely, clearly a trending venue. Food is amazing. However, if you are dining as a single woman, which I do quite often when I travel, beware. I arrived right at 6PM when the restaurant opened and was hoping that I would be able to
Fantastic restaurant - go if you can
Our new favourite restaurant. Absolutely delicious food and great service. Would thoroughly recommend. Only one thing to be aware of - if you are offered al fresco dining it is on the street, not in a courtyard or garden, and you’ll be asked to cle
Not a pleasant dining experience
Took our friend here to celebrate her engagement and we were really disappointed. The service was poor and we were constantly just told we needed to hurry up and decide what we wanted and hurry up and finish because they needed the table. Although th
Dinner ruined, kicked out on the 2-hour mark when there were 17 vacant tables
Our night was so ruined, this is the first time I have ever left a negative restaurant review. This was my second time dining at this Neil Perry restaurant and the first time for my dinner companions. The first was a wonderful and special experience.
Exceptional service!
A fabulous dining experience, with an extensive wine list, exceptional service, and fresh food, this would be one of Sydney’s best restaurants.
On the point food
I had high expectations for Margaret, celebrity chef, $5 million fitout and more bistrot type appeal. The welcome was warm and the place buzzing (Wednesday night). Ange (a fellow kiwi was our main wait person) and Richard (sommelier) were engaging an
Great food Great service Great Decor Poor Drinks
We were here for a Saturday lunch and the service was extremely attentive. There was a mountain of staff on hand. The restaurant was full. The food was excellent, fresh and inspired - great blue swimmer crab! Only one complaint - the pre drinks.
Its starts with "you have 2 hours" - that's not the best greeting
Its starts with "you have 2 hours" not the best greeting. Turning tables over rather than a real dining experience the main game here, I have been here a few times and its getting more and more pushy. Nice dining space, the food is good,
Wonderful experience!
Lovely corner in lovely neighborhood, good casual menu with plenty options, quality of food was good and service was good! Overall very good experience. Cool design, nice energy and vibe. Well done.
