BREAKFAST HERE ON FIRST MORNING MIXED AT MAMAN NOMAD
I wanted our first meal upon returning to Manhattan to be different, special, and close to our hotel. We've tried different spots on previous visits in this area, but wanted to try something new. I found this restaurant local chain on google and it looked very nice. We flew in mid-morning, checked in to our hotel, and walked to this location. The location was perfect, and found not too long a line outside (still covid recovery). So, no issue with limited seating inside. Once inside and seated, we took a few minutes to get our bearings and layout. Upon entering, you do order at the front counter, get your number, and get seated. That was ok too. We ordered a cappuccino, macchiato, fried egg sides, scrambled eggs, toast, butter, along with an interesting item called "rabbit hole" (cornmeal foccacia filled w/ stuff and topped with an egg). After ordering, it became apparent that the staff was short this am. So, it took a while to finally get everything. They did have a person making the hot beverages and we just had to go up and serve ourselves. So, basically it's sort of self-service. While my "rabbit hole" and macchiato seemed fine, my wife wasn't real happy with her order of scrambled eggs and thought her cappucino was too cold. Due to their staffing issue, it didn't seem like we should be spending more time asking for them to help us with this. the line was only getting longer out the door. Apparently, it's quite popular and must be for the locals. Maybe it was just this location on this day. I would give it a try again, either here or one of their other locations. It's worth another visit, since it does fit the breakfast option. It is a cute design outside.

Quick take out coffee and bite on the run. Was packed but line moved quick. Adorable cafe with outside seating although it was HOT! Prices reasonable and breakfast bites delish....
Be the first to ReplyNice, but service left somethings to be desired
The interior is very nice, and the food was tasty. The presentation was lovely, but I have to say, the service was not good. When we arrived, they re-sat our group of three twice. They were also pushing to free tables pretty assertively. Despite the beautiful design, the experience could definitely be improved.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Brunch Spot
We were looking for a brunch spot, and I knew they had awesome baked goods... And with enticing brunch menu, we decided to dine here.
The inside was a bit larger than it looked from outside. I really loved the bright blue and crisp white, with lots if vibrant greens inside. They have the baked goods and baristas at front by the door. The ones who just want to order things to go can come in, order, pick up, and go.
The best way to try some of their best baked goods is to order the Pastry Assortment. You get three or even four (if you are lucky) baked goods in a basket. You can only order this if you are dining in. Our basket contained a huge cookie to die for, flakey chocolate croissant, and super plump croissant.
To go with the pastries, we ordered special coffee of the day, which was Pistachio White Chocolate Cappuccino. They must have a sorcerer of some kind to offer a cappuccino that has all of my favorite! The server did not bring any sugar, but since we like our coffee without sugar, it was ok... The coffee was very creamy! It had a nice amount of small pistachio chunks!
For "real" food, we ordered Mamanโs Breakfast Sandwich and Eggs Ratatouille. I have a not-so-secret love affair with breakfast sandwiches so, I was excited to try it. The egg was cooked just right, with creamy avocado, crunchy buns, and bacon jam packed with bacon! So good!!
My hubby who is more of a Shakshuka kind of guy, went with something similar to that. Eggs Ratatouille was packed with veggies and had a little kick to it, which was nice. Packed with so much flavor! This dish was so satisfying!
We had a really nice brunch here. The service was a bit slow (and we had to ask for stuff more than once), but since we were not in a hurry, it was quite relaxing. We really enjoyed the food, pastries, and coffee. Everything was really tasty! I would love to go back and try more of their delicious offerings!
Not worth a visit
Lousy service, terrible outdoor set up, dirty, tasteless food, expensive.
Its a totally disorganized place which is unfortunate.
Not welcoming for solo travelers
Traveling alone is difficult enough, and Maman doesn't make it any easier. I simply wanted a quiet, lovely coffee spot to enjoy some tea and pastries, catch up on email and ease in to the day . However, I was told I was not allowed in the dining room unless I ordered a full breakfast from the menu. Unfortunate, but I really wanted the service so I made the concession. Upon being seated, the first thing I see is a sign on the wall saying table service is limited to 30 minutes. Not necessarily a deal breaker when alone, but if I were there with friends 30 minutes doesn't seem like a long time to enjoy a Saturday breakfast with a group. I get the menu, sounds delicious, and place my order. I pull out my laptop to finalize a few documents and get off a few emails to catch up from a crazy week and pull up the "Maman Guest" wifi- I ask the waitress for the password. Then I am told "there is no wifi" and that "this is a restaurant and laptops are not allowed on the weekends". No one of these things was a deal breaker alone, but together they ultimately added up to me feeling unwelcome and stressed (before breakfast!) on a Saturday morning. The EXACT OPPOSITE of what I hoped and what this charming French coffee stop seemed to offer. I know it is difficult times for restaurants, and concessions must be made, but I did find this a bit unreasonable and ultimately left. the place was cute, the menu sounded good, the pastries looked divine, but I'll never know because I paid and left.

... and we gratefully ended up at Maman Nomad for breakfast. Beautiful little cafe with big flavors and beautiful pastries! My niece and I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was amazing. Corn meal brioche enveloped a fried egg, smashed avocado, roasted tomato and the most delectable bacon jam. She has a cold brew and I had a glass of the black tea (although it was a little more robust and authentic than I cared for). If you are going to grab a table and stay, place your order at the back counter then they bring your meal to you. Quick service and neighborhood atmosphere. Thank you!

Perfect start to the day at this beautiful coffee shop. It seemed like a happening brunch location too but unfortunately we could not stay.
Be the first to ReplyNice but overcrowded
Went to Maman's for breakfast on a thursday morning. It was already packed with new yorkers. I sat at a table and got the avocado toast, which was tasty.
Not a place to sit and relax, because it was busy and load.
Hidden gem not to be missed!
Staying in the city for a week, there are tons of places to get a coffee. But stumbling on this cafe was a true treat each morning. The coffee was perfect each day along with a simple croissant or pastry to get you in your feel. The service was friendly, genuine and the staff were very friendly each day! We made special trips to this part of town just to stop by.
