The price you pay for your reservation is just for the table. It does not include any food or drinks. We ordered the minimal amount of food and drink and it was still $50 on top of the 60 we'd already paid for the table. And then they had the nerve to require a donation which is illegal, a one dollar donation to rollerskate after paying $60 for the table. I kindly refused and let them know that it's illegal to require a donation. My granddaughter loved it. It's a one and done though.

Decor is nice but get rid of the fruit flies! They were all over the bar area when we were there. Farro salad had no flavor and only the pickled onions saved the dish. Dijon in the grilled cheese is a bad idea. Pink hummus was excellent. If you're going to charge a $25pp cover, get rid of the files and season the food.
It was cute, the food was basic .
The photo ops were adorable . I expected a bit more happening on the inside. It would have been cute to have Barbie episodes playing on TV's and the music from the show as well. The staff were friendly and quick .

This was super cute! For Barbie fans, I definitely recommend checking it out. The whole place was decked out perfectly. I loved how they represented a variety of different Barbie's! Now they are a bit ridiculous with pricing, as it basically cost you just to enter, and they get you but saying you get a food voucher credit and merchandise credit.... But both don't really cover much as you will still be paying way more. Overall, for the photo ops, and vibes makes it still worth it.
I totally loved my experience at the Malibu Barbie Cafe.
It brought back memories of my childhood especially seeing the little girls with their barbies and cute outfits having fun at the café. I'm glad this trendy pop-up made its way to San Diego. I was transported to 1970s Malibu, California with a sea of poppin' Barbie colors, beachy vibes, and retro glam all around. Thanks to the nicely dressed coordinated Barbie staff for their terrific customer service! The tasty Barbie-inspired menu, tons of themed activities including photo opps and Barbie merch were out of sight!! I highly recommend this unique immersive dining experience to the Yelp Community :-)
Ok this is more for the experience than the food.
The food was not very good, with a small and odd menu to have all day. The desserts came out and were presented in a very cute way! Hostesses were so nice and really fit the vibe. It's a pink Barbie dream space. The atmosphere was very cute, you could see the husbands who came to make their wives happy haha. There are plenty of instagram worthy photo spots inside and outside. If you like pink and or Barbie, you'll love it! Outside there's a Barbie lifeguard chair and bench swing, but the main attraction outside is the roller skating area. You can rent your skates for $1 and leave your shoes as collateral. Kids MUST wear helmets and wrist, elbow and knee pads. All which you get with the skates. My boys weren't thrilled about the "girlie" helmets. If I'd known better I would have brought them their own helmets bc the rented ones did not fit and hardly stayed on. It was a fun experience to do once and say you've done it.

Came with a bunch of girlfriends but this experience would be better for families and younger kids. We still had fun and enjoyed all the photo opportunities! You're basically paying for the experience. The food and service were mediocre. Service was extremely slow and the food is overpriced for what it's worth. The menu is catered for a child's palate so don't have high expectations. They also have a "roller skating rink" where you can rent roller skates. (It is not a real roller skating rink but still cute!)

My friends and I attended this cafe hoping it would be a fun time to spend Labor Day. The dip for the fruit sticks tasted like butt cheese with sprinkles. The woman working there did not tell me what was in it. The grilled cheese had sugar in it and the cheese was not melted. The Nutella cake pop tasted like coffee. The burger had an absurd amount of meat and no vegetables. The salad smelled soooo foul, made me return it for French fries but those were stale. The mood given from staff was not Barbie, in fact I felt sad and tired the whole time and the food made it worse. Too tired that I could not take any photos. The small roller skating rink only spraying disinfectant on the helmets and skates, giving all of us forehead acne right after. The server took our food before we finished, and the merchandise was limited and overpriced. The location was suspicious and walk nearly a mile for parking. By the way, the $200 entrance fee does not include getting a table (which took used about an hour) To conclude, I would not recommend this cafe for any child or adult. There were no fun events besides laughing over the food and small venue. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. Sincerely, a group of unsatisfied customers.
