Great Unexpected Find
We stopped in on a whim early on a Friday evening. The manager found a spot for us at the bar to squeeze us in between reservations. We ordered the bread, a potato dish similar to croquettes, the tortilla and chorizo with goat cheese. We enjoyed every bite. Will definitely return.

Adorable little place with wonderful food and lovely staff. I wish I could have eaten more but will just have to keep coming back to try different tapas. Excellent selection of wine as well. The bread is just perfect!

We celebrated my birthday there and the food was delicious. Especially the tapas. We didn't care so much for the paella but tapas with tempranillo wine is the way to go!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible, and I should know!
After a series of disappointing meals in Charleston at really nice restaurants, we have a winner! My family is from Spain, so these are dishes I’m very familiar with and know how they should be prepared. Everything was exquisitely cooked and seasoned, had multiple authentic options on the menu, some with their own special twist. We had the jamón serrano, padrón peppers, boquerones, pulpo a feira, sobrasada with cheese (a twist on the traditional sobrasada I know and love) and zorzada de cordero, all excellent. Wine was excellent, special made beer was excellent! Don’t leave without trying the olive oil ice cream, vanilla base with a nutty, salty finish!

I have never experienced Spanish food as tasty, fresh, and exciting outside of Spain. Yes, Barsa is great, but Malagon is outstanding! Home-made pasta was amazing!

This was very authentic. Atmosphere and service were great. This was the best Spanish food I have gotten since Barcelona.

An Authentic look, feel and taste of Spain. The food and service was amazing. It was so nice to have a light and flavorful meal in a city filled with so many heavy options. 4-5 plates is perfect for about two people. Tortilla de Español is a must for the table.

This is the real deal. If you're looking for an authentic tapas restaurant, you must visit Malagon. We enjoyed the white anchovies, Serrano ham, grilled octopus, Mojama (salt cured tuna which is mind-blowing), perfectly prepared duck breast, and great Spanish wine list. Lively atmosphere, with very attentive service. The server made a great cheese paring recommendation to go with the ham that was outstanding. And the maitre de also offered a great wine recommendation. I wholeheartedly recommend that you put this on your list of must-visit restaurants in a town with an outstanding list of great culinary establishments!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Meal, Superior Service, Quaint Atmosphere
This tiny, quaint gem was absolutely PACKED at 9:30 p.m.--and for good reason. This was our favorite, most unique meal we had in Charleston. All the tapas was marvelous, but hands down our favorite dish was the Mojama: paper-thin slices of salt-cured tuna with a drizzle of olive oil and a scattering of marcona almonds. This dish is eye-roll good. Stephan, the maitre-d', gave us an excellent wine suggestion--so good (and reasonably priced) that we bought a bottle to take back to the hotel with us. Our server, Joseph, was attentive and efficient, even with the restaurant packed. You definitely need a reservation to get a table, but plan ahead and put this on your "must dine" list for your next visit to Charleston.
Be the first to ReplyA Unique, Tiny Treat
This quaint little restaurant is for the diner with an adventurous palate who doesn't mind an intimate setting. The leather bound miniature menu is perfectly suited to the small space. Several large plates require 45 minutes, which the server clearly explained, so order those when you arrive and then treat yourself to a smattering of small plates. We loved the blue cheese, the ribs, the pork lardon and the bowl of lamb pieces. Can't wait to try the paella next time.
