Never disappointed at Majorelle!
Never disappointed at Majorelle!! I have been dining here since they open the doors. Jacks runs a beautiful well appointed and delicious dining room. Fabulous French foods, deliciously prepared and served via very great staff. The flowers are beyond belief. Old world elegance awaits you here. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Lovely evening at this wonderful establishment. We love coming here for dinner or and drinks. Beautiful ambience and Superb service.
Be the first to ReplyMost beautiful restaurant in NYC
The most beautiful restaurant in New York City, with wonderful food and gracious service. Next to the restaurant is Jacques, it's expansive lounge, which is perfect for a drink before or after dinner and is worthy of a separate visit on its own.

From entrance to exit we were impressed! It was our anniversary and we were in town for a few days. We decided to dine early on a Tuesday. Staff was extremely attentive and made our celebration even more special. The restaurant had beautiful fresh flowers throughout. Now for the food OMG!!! Everything was DEVINE! Amuse-Bouche was insanely flavorful. We had the Grilled Octopus & Burrata for starters. Octopus was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The Burrata was creamy. Our entrees we had the Duck Breast with Porcini Mushrooms & Filet and finished with dessert the Soufflé with Grand Marnier Crème Anglaise. My husband is a Chef so when we dine out it has to be top notch for him to be impressed and we were both extremely happy with our dining experience. We recommend them 1000% and will definitely return next time we're in NY.
Be the first to ReplyComfortable dining room with great service
I arrived on time but my husband’s train was late and they were very gracious and let me sit and wait for him. The restaurant was almost full but it appeared to be very quiet. The wines are good and the food was outstanding. One of the specials was soft shell crab and it was done perfectly. Most restaurants overcook them. The cold cucumber soup with lime was fantastic. The service is impeccable. My husband is very critical of restaurant noise and atmosphere and he said it was like eating in someone’s private dining room. Would go again.
Be the first to Replydon't go...save the money
we had SO much expectations and it wasn't that good...the cocktail i ordered (Moroccan something) tasted like a cleaning liquid, the second was just ok. the main dish was the bass or the cod and was so cheap like it was served in a gas station. the replacement was good, it was the grilled shrimps over the risotto from the aperitif menu. deserts were good though. service was great but at some point i was really embarrassed bc you shouldn't experience such bad food from a $$$$ restaurant. the bill was just stunning...we were 5 people and the cost was $450 for each of us...such a waste of money.

Oops I did it again- I tried to go to Majorelle in the context of the last meal before going to the airport. I have to learn it is not a place to rush. The food and the experience are too extra to have a feeling of a deadline looming. We made the best of it. The list: Soufflé Bread Service Decor Fish It's just fabulous!

Amazing service and food. You can't go wrong. The chocolate Mouse was mind-blowing! I also had the best Burger in my life for lunch; it was worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service
Ate at Majorelle while staying at the Lowell. Both the food and service were excellent (albeit quite expensive).
Be the first to ReplyVERY NICE DECORATION AND FLOWERS POTS, THE MEALS ARE STANDARD AND OVERPRICED.
The Majorelle is a nice restaurant at the Lowell Hotel, very well decorated, with flowers and curtains all around. The food is not worth the excessive prices of the set menus (of two or three courses). My advice is to ask for non elaborated dishes and stay with the burrata as an appetizer and a filet mignon as a main entry. My friends tried the scargot, the rissotto and the crabs without any success. The soufflé was tasteless. Service is ok, the Maitre d´made an overreacted impresion speaking in French (we are fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, etc. but in NYC we speak in English). Conclusion, if you want to expend monies to be in a well decorated ambiance, with standard dishes and to pay for that a fortune, this is the place to be. Michelin awards are not always correct.

This is one of our two favorite restaurants in NYC. The sprays of flowers throughout the restaurant & bar areas are wonderful and soothing to the eye. The food is fabulous. We almost always get the Sole, it is amazingly good. The 3 course dinner is $150/person. Wine is a bit pricey but a very nice selection. Service is quite good, although the staff wear masks, so sometimes it is hard to understand them. Always wonderful experience!

I booked this restaurant with high hopes, as being a Michelin star in NYC. The service is really low quality for what they wanna pretend to be. Waited one hour to get the table ready, the manager treated me with disrespect, had one of the smallest table and the food is not what they pretend to be, far lower for a Michelin restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyPRETTY GOOD.
Pretty Good.
This is an expensive, dress up restaurant.
With that in mind, the restaurant has certain service responsibilities including getting the hot food in the small portions to my table whole the food is hot.
The food is good. The portions require that you pick the three course price fix menu unless you want to leave hungry. The flavors are fairly subtle—this is not Emeril screaming BAM while overly dousing a dish with garlic or salt. The subtle flavors are typical of haute French cooking.
The presentation is great.
The team let us linger and catch up with one another (big plus).
The ambiance is quiet in a well appointed, well spaced dining room.
I was pretty happy, 80%, so 4/5 is the rating.
One of our favorite restaurants in NYC
We come here a couple of times a year, which is always a treat. The ambiance is beautiful with sprays of flowers and excellent service.
We had the prix fixe at $290/couple for a 3 course dinner. We had the sole, which is just amazing for an extra $17/plate. We started with the oysters & clams...the oysters in particular were fantastic. The deserts were memorable also.
Drinks & wine are a bit hefty, but we come here to celebrate.
We made more time!
It took a while for us to get back (Pandemic and all) but we finally came back to enjoy a leisurely meal that was not just before we were to go to the airport. We were here for dinner this time instead of lunch. It was fabulous! First drinks and snacks in Jacques (the lounge area) then off to the very gorgeous dining room. In contrast to other restaurants the awkward (and likely not useful) barriers between tables were not there so left behind the decoration as intended.
Service was top notch. I noticed at the restaurants we dined at in the City that the staff were very helpful and also did not tend to steer towards the most expensive items (on the wine list for example) - Majorelle was no exception. Staff were attentive to small things like clearing used items or filling water glasses.
The pricing was reasonable and they offered 2 or 3 course fixed price. On our night the special was filet of Branzino which I found to be delicious. There are nice options for vegetarians as well.
Don't forget the Soufflé!
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had in NYC
I've had the good fortune to dine at several excellent restaurants in the city over the years. If you've been to a few of these, you'll notice that good restaurants tend to be thematic and embrace an all-encompassing vibe that you experience all at once.
Not so at Majorelle. The experience is a symphonic composition, designed to be consumed progressively, right from the time you step into the reception of the Lowell Hotel and are greeted by the host of the restaurant.
Once your host has taken your coat, you follow them to your table. That's when the surprise and awe of the main dining room, with its crisp muted marble and gorgeous floral arrangements, form the palpable basis of growing expectation for what's next. Most dining rooms in NYC are not this well appointed.
The two or three course prix-fixe menu is complemented by a comprehensive, if not extensive wine list. You order, savor the amuse bouche and sip your libation of choice and wait.
When the food arrives, the final movement of the evening commences. The china, the solid silverware, the use of space on the plate, and crispness of the table linen set the stage for what is most likely the best classic French meal you'll have outside of Paris or Montreal. The quality of the meats, the temperature of the sauces, the perfect crunch of a sliver of buttered brioche with caviar all sear themselves into your senses one after another, making the composition so utterly unique and primally unforgettable.
When you leave, you're really not sorry the experience has ended, but genuinely grateful that you were able to have it. Because, it was worth your time.
If you haven't dined here, and you genuinely want an unforgettable meal, just remember that every other restaurant has led you here. Every restaurant before and after will most likely will never live up to the experience you are about to have.
A beehive of staff activity mars the setting.
Majorelle is a mixed bag. To its credit, the setting is quite lovely and the service is of a high level. The cuisine is well done, though a notch below the highest levels. The hitch is that there’s an ongoing buzzing of activity of the service staff in the dining area. On a virtually nonstop basis, there were always between three and eight people milling about between tables..
In a milieu apparently intended to portray a feeling of tranquillity, the reality was anything but. This was especially ironic since a number of tables were unoccupied.
We found thus disappointing, especially in contrast to numerous ostensibly comparable restaurants in the US and abroad where the staff performed their duties without being obtrusive.
At Majorelle, the beehive activity was a constant distraction.
Majorelle Restaurant - Manhattann
The name "Majorelle" made me think the restaurant would be filled with late-19th century Art Nouveau furniture of the sort designed by Majorelle - and that it would therefore resemble our livingroom at home which (apart from the piano) has all Art Nouveau furniture, mostly by Majorelle. Not so. The restaurant has lovely and comfortable furnishings, and tables wide enough apart to make it a quiet restaurant. Don't know where they got the name "Majorelle" from - though it is a high-end French restaurant - which is therefore part of a sadly vanishing type in New York (like Lutece and le Pavillon and Alain Ducasse that are no longer here). The food was uniformly outstanding and served efficiently by gracious waiters. The restaurant is smaller than Daniel or Bernardin or La Grenouille but of the same high quality.
Be the first to ReplyGreat classic French dinner
Having just arrived from LA and staying at the Lowell, Majorelle kindly accommodated us last minute and it was terrific. The services is attentive and warm, in a gorgeous setting filled with marble and flowers. The good is classic French (heavy) but very good. I love my Nantucket Bay scallops appetizer and their cucumber, mint salad is simple, fresh and delicious. My steak was really tender and superbly sauced. The desserts are amazing - particularly the chocolate one. Really enjoyed it here.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous spot in NYC!
We arrived early but were seated at table for a cocktail since the bar was packed!! Incredible flowers! I ordered the lobster pasta which was very good others had lamb and Dover sole. Such a quaint place for dinner in NYC!!
Be the first to Replyfor a romantic dinner....
am glad I read these reviews. I was fore-warned that the bill, exclusive of alcohol, but with desert, would be a bit above $150 per person. Certainly my fiancée and I could have chosen not to have dessert and saved a few dollars, but skipping their desserts was not one of the means. And the full menu and expense is fully shown on their web-site.
You have read that the service was excellent. No question about this,
If I were rating the food alone, my score would be something less than 5.0 but certainly not less than 4.0. I am not sure I have ever given a 5.0 to a restaurant for its food. As I almost never eat at restaurants of this quality, I am uncomfortable giving a rating on the food as I do not know what a 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0 is at a French restaurant in New York City.
Our reservation was at 6:30 p.m. and we were very promptly seated and there was no hint that they wanted us to "move on" as the restaurant started to fill. I am sure we were there longer than 2 hours.
I came as a result of asking the concierge at the Omni on 52nd for a recommendation for a very romantic hotel. With the exception of no piano music in the background, it was every bit as romantic as I expected.
One of the BEST Meals we ever had!!
One of the best meals we ever had. My appetizer was a snapper ceviche - beautiful and delicious - with grilled toast that made the dish perfect. Then I had a veal scallopine that was the BEST veal I have ever eaten - tender, delicious. Dessert was a chocolate souffle, yummy. My wife's salad, which I happily sampled, was made with crisp Romaine lettuce leaves filled with chopped cucumber and herbs - she loved it. She loved her fish. She loved her wild strawberry dessert. The next time we are in NY, we will dine at Majorelle. Our primary waiter was French and my wife, who is also French, communicated with verve. It is expensive ($122/pp for the meal), but worth it.
