Excellent Portuguese and wine.
Would suggest that people book, we did not and had to wait therefore missing the fireworks. But it was worth the wait and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Great dinner on a Wednesday night. Checked beforehand but didn't need to book a table in advance although the bar is members only. G&T was lovely with suitable measure, food was great and wine options were varied. Great guidance from the MaitreD and all-in-all good value for money. All staff very helpful and pleasant. Interior design slight dated in that the dining room is very plain with flat lighting, it still resembles an officers mess but lacks the colourful livery of dress uniforms.

Been there again, after 5 years, and apart from the fact that the club is reserved for members at peak hours, nothing has changed: still great service, wide selection of excellent Portuguese wines at affordable prices, good Port wines as well and delicious Portuguese dishes, with a very friendly and attentive service
Be the first to ReplyA Glimpse of 19th Century Macau with contemporary Portuguese Food
Clube Militar is a fantastic historic setting for an exceptional restaurant that serves traditional Portuguese food updated to the 21st century. It is a unique experience to have lunch or dinner at the Militar Clube, where one returns to the old colonial gatherings of local officials, aristocracy, and intellectuals. The environment invites to taste unique food served by very professional and helpful staff. Other than by list menu, the restaurant offers pleasant buffets where fresh flavored salads meet the best Portuguese gastronomy: codfish, duck rice along with chorizo, hams, and splendid cheeses. The desserts are lovely offering those sweet -- more than mellifluous -- Portuguese puddings, tarts, and milk creams. An extraordinary experience at a quite fair price. Well done.

We visited the Military Club de Macau during Christmas. We tried many dishes including their traditional Portguese soup and crab meat soup - nice presentation by pouring the soup into the dish.
The Bacalhau fish cake is excellent cooked and presented on the table. Sardine is fresh and yummy. Ducking rice is traditional one, beef tenderloin and suckling pogs are all good. For dessert, we tried the Basil souflet - inspiring and taste special.
The atmosphere is nice in Eurpoean historic building. Need to book in advanced. We visited the Macau Art show in the basement with 18 Macanese artists. Full of Macanese feel for the whole evening.
“That is Portuguese style” if cooked unsatisfactorily
I visited this restaurant for lunch/dinner more than ten years.
I went there tonight with my wife and ordered one of my favourite “duck rice”. However, they cooked the rice too long this time and the rice became dry and hard.
The manger “Lucy” took the rice back to kitchen after I told her the rice is over cooked. She came back with the rice and said “the chef told her that is the way this restaurant cooks the duck rice”. Then I told her although I am not a member of the club, I am not a tourist first time visiting the restaurant and I knew how the duck rice should be. And I told her just left the rice on the table if the restaurant felt it is the way to treat a guest as I can pay the bill without any problem. The rice was left on my table.
However, after few minutes later, Lucy started to discuss with the guests of another table and saying “people should not expecting a Chinese style cooking when ordering a Portuguese dish”. Although Lucy did apologise and not charging the price of the duck rice after my complaint on what she discussed with other guests, obviously she was totally not accepting my comments on their cooking.
As a restaurant guest, I can understand a restaurant cannot cook a dish satisfactorily every time. But it is unacceptable if the restaurant staffs (both kitchen and serving staffs) are not trying to listen the comments from guests.
Unless the restaurant can improve the training of the kitchen and serving staffs how to handle customers comments and respect each guest (even though not being a club member). Otherwise if people go this restaurant for meals, they should accept all the cooking and services as that is the “Portuguese style” providing by them.
Good food in historic environment
The Cube Militar is a private membership club that also allows outsiders to have meals there. I was invited for lunch and never having been there before I was surprised about the nice setting which is a time warp into the past era of Macau. For lunch a buffet is offered that has a small but nice selection, enough to have a nice meal. Price for non-members is very reasonable as well. A nice and unique lunch experience in Macau. Be aware that lunch gets very busy.
Be the first to ReplyNice atmosphere at best average food
This was a disappointing evening in terms of food. While the atmosphere is classy the food itsself is at the very best : average . Tough meat , cheap ingredients (potato chips as side dish, though home made, is not exactly grande cuisine) in some dishes and my suckling pig was just skin with bones ...a lot of the latter and almost no meat .
To be fair : prices are good but this place in terms of food cannot compete with "Antonio" at all unfortunately
a night to remember
A special menu dinner after a one-hour concert at Stanley Ho room.
And also a special table setting for a truly memorable night.
Highly recommended.
