Great service with amazing and creative, fresh fish options.
Setting in upscale market stall location added to visual interest.

We have been coming here for years - even when they were under the tents when they redid Ostermalms SaluhalleIts a must at Christmas (anytime really). Book; no point in just turning up - this is the time of year its super busyI suppose we do tend to have the same lunch each time...a skagen, a raksmorgas, sorbet and ice-cream and a double espresso apiece...with a glass of yummy Chantalouette (rouge) for me and a Riesling Tradition for my wifeIts busy, bustling with all the shoppers passing by, its noisy...but its so good, fresh food...and fun to wander around the market afterwards to try and walk some of the meal offIts not cheap but its a treat - you have to go at least once. £95 including tip

Stunningly fresh and delicious seafood is what Lisa Elmqvist specializes in. From the delicious bleak caviar appetizers, to the grilled fish entrees everything is prepared to perfection. A must try when in Stockholm.

This review is only for the takeout counter, not the restaurant itself. We got several types of smoked fish for takeaway, all of it was superb. Cold-smoked salmon and smoked eel were both sliced thin and had delightful flavors that I can't fault, though they were a bit oily. Smoked mackerel was also excellent.
Be the first to ReplyCame here cuz of the reviews for the shrimp toast.
To be honest, it was aite. Really expensive for what you get and not too memorable...

The restaurant is in an upscale food hall called the Ostermalm Saluhall. Lisa Elmqvist looked like the best choice because a sign said it had gotten a Michelin Star within the last couple of years. The history about the restaurant was interesting. It started as a booth that sold fish in a fish market long ago. The hostess was nice. We didn't have a reservation but she seated us at a table in the bar area. There were many choices of fish and seafood on the menu. My daughter got the special of the day which was a risotto topped with fish, a few pieces of lobster, white asparagus, and maybe a couple shrimp. I had the fish soup that came with bread, and my husband had an entrée of a fish that I can't remember. My daughter also ordered oysters for an appetizer. The best tasting dish was the special of the day. The food was good but I would not say it was delicious (except for the risotto, which was a great choice). The woman that served us was one of two female bartenders, and she was not pleasant at all. She did not smile and was actually pretty rude, I'm assuming because we were tourists. She wasn't helpful explaining the menu, and her facial expression seemed to imply that she was annoyed to have to wait on us. This unpleasantness lasted the entire meal whenever she had to come over to bring the food, the drinks, the bill, etc. We left disappointed with the experience. I would not recommend this restaurant for non Scandinavian tourists. She was much nicer, talkative, and even smiling to customers who spoke Swedish. Instead, head over to a place called The Fishery, where we had a lovely meal that was very yummy and half the price. I had the fish stew there and it was truly tasty and memorable. Plus .... The Fishery employees made us feel welcome.

I think I forgot to write up last year's visit - when this place was still located in the square - sorry....but it was good then too, if more rushedFinally, Lisa Elmqvist was back in its natural home, the Saluhallen having been restored at lastWe arrived (we had booked ages ago, knowing how popular this place is, especially at this time of year) to find a queue...and it all looked pretty full (there are a number of different areas within the building). Oh dearWe told the Maitresse d' and she put us to the other side of the queue....2 people arrived and stood beside usAfter a little wait, she returned and beckoned us to follow - the 2 beside us began to follow but she stopped them and asked if they had booked...no...so go to the back of the queue (quite right too! cheek! )Anyway, the meal was as good as we had expected and hoped for...both quality and quantity...we shared a toast skagen, I had the fish (large breaded fingers of cod) and chips, my partner the halibut. 2 glasses of the Reisling and the Ch Chantallouette (one was definitely not enough), a couple of very nice sorbets and 2 double espressos. All well served by one waiterIn between courses, we were very politely asked by the Maitresse d' if we minded sliding along to the next table so they could fit in a table of 6...in such a good mood, how could we say no...This is not a cheap place; you are easily tempted by the decent menu and there is no-one pushing you out the door; comfortable, lots of people watching, it is easy to just sit there and fit in another "little something"...and why not! 1,900sek including a decent tip. Well worth it. You leave feeling good, contented, full and thinking about what you could have next timeA must...and take your time...who needs to visit yet another museum...
Be the first to ReplyOur first meal in Stockholm was very satisfying.
We had several of the same dishes at other traditional Swedish restaurants in Stockholm but Lisa was the best! Big plus is that you can easily make a reservation on The Fork. We had:* 3 varieties of herring: normally I'm not fond of herring but these were the perfect, not too fishy, not too vinegary.* Toast Skagen: it's a pretty simple dish, comforting and satisfying. At the time I had this, I enjoyed it but didn't think it was that special but after trying it 2x more times elsewhere, I realized it was special at Lisa after all.* Fish soup of the house: a bit like a bouillabaisse with deep rich flavors. Solid but probably wouldn't order again* Whole fried lemon sole Grenoble: as an Asian I wouldn't call this whole as it was missing the head, but it was served with a light coating, with tons of bones but swimming in a delicious butter sauce. If you like butter this is for you!Service was typical Swedish, food simple and solid. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again, especially for the herring.

Excellent service, great central location and delicious seafood. The bouillabaisse and the whole fried sole were both very well done and beautifully presented. Their black bread is amazing. Wish there was more green on the menu - par for the course in Stockholm. 2760 Sek for 6 people.

Excellant traditional sea-food restaurant in the new market place building. Unbelievable tasty traditional sill and small potatoes from Gotland island. Nice sweden desert: strawberry with icecream and cream
Be the first to ReplyPretty low key for dinner (in the temporary location).
Food was good, put not 5 stars. I like the open market idea and would probably prefer doing lunch.
Be the first to ReplyWow as good as it gets.
Most amazing seafood preparations in a casual food hall location. Indoor, outdoor and bar seating but limited so make a reservation. We had the shrimp toast and shrimp sandwich both while listed as a starter we huge! The toast comes as a mayo type shrimp salad. The sandwich, open face is plain shrimp on sliced boiled egg, lettuce and brown bread. Both excellent!

Great restaurant in Östermalms! The market is fun to walk through, and the dill shrimp toast with roe was really good and the stuffed avocado was pretty good. There's nice seating outside. The plating was gorgeous!
Be the first to ReplyReally tasty fish.
Very creative flavor profiles without overpowering the delicate fresh fish. Wonderful service, especially if you're the proverbial table-for-one business traveler. Much appreciated.
Be the first to ReplyWent here on a Saturday afternoon.
We had the shrimp sandwich which was pretty ok but not wow. It's a pricy place but that didn't come as a surprise really. The low rating comes from the service being slow and very ignorant and grumpy. The waiters (we were served by three different ones) were all lacking enthusiasm and friendliness. No one smiled and they all seemed bothered by our presence.
