Liholiho Yacht Club San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
First and foremost the service was above excellent.
The food was excellent. Ordered the short rib and the mousse pate among others. All delicious. Overall a very nice place with non-boujie prices!
So many people have raved about this spot and after being
So many people have raved about this spot and after being on my bookmarked list for so long, I wish I came here sooner! an absolute must-go for locals and visitors. The interior was modern with bold patterns and warm lighting, creating a lively atmosphere for diners. They combine hawaiian flavors into their dishes, and all their food is served family style. everything we ordered here was amazing. Super friendly staff -- they were very helpful in explaining the popular plates and recommending food that best fit our tastebuds. - tuna poke: this was my favorite appetizer -- I loved the nori cracker and the tuna was delicious. the spicy aioli was so good - poppyseed steam bun: the beef tongue was very tender, kimchi was really nicely fermented while cucumbers added crunch. the poppyseeds made it a little messy to eat though - soft shell crab ukoy: I wasn't expecting this to be fried, but still very good. crispy and flavorful, with the tanginess of the ranch. The crab flavor wasn't as prominent as I expected though - pork shoulder chop: pork slices were very soft. I really liked how I could taste the savoriness of the beans and the sweetness of the blueberries. The polenta was the most interesting part -- dairy forward and almost a bit minty? Its texture reminded me of scrambled eggs - baked hawaii: most popular dessert on their menu and this lived up to the hype. the chiffon cake was fluffy and warm, almost marshmallow like on top but the gelato still ice cold inside. The mandarine slices on the side added a sour contrast, and crispy coconut chips provided a crunch We also ordered cocktails, which were refreshing and paired so well with our meal. Will be reminiscing about this everyday until I go back -- highly highly recommend!
I'm glad we finally had the opportunity to try out their
I'm glad we finally had the opportunity to try out their food! For many years (prepandemic) it was difficult to get reservations but we were surprised to check the night before and score some seats! They're super strict about being on time, and will send you essays about the importance of being timely, some reminder texts the day of, and some lecturing in their actual reservation page. Interesting way of driving that standard home. We took the cue and arrived 10 minutes early in fear of disappointing someone. The restaurant is spacious and clean. It's a bit weird that we walked by so many of their staff and were not greeted with at least a quiet hello or nod. They all just kind of stood around and chatted with each other. Glad they are staffed well though! Now onto the food! I think the let us feed you tasting menu experience is perfect for 2 people. You get to try all of the popular dishes in one go and decide whether you want to come back again. The food was served in relatively large portions and they were all tasty. I'm docking off a couple stars because of the awkward service when presenting the dishes as the food runners sometimes would describe the dish haphazardly and walk away mid sentence. That was weird until it happened two dishes in a row. The second star was for all the damn fees. The automatic 20% service charge with the additional SF mandate is just a little over the top for a casual restaurant. Our server was awesome; she was super professional and friendly. I would have no doubt tipped her 20% , but forcing that service charge down my throat was off putting. Starting July 1st, restaurants are supposed to display that automatic charge clearly on their menu. Is 10 pt font on the bottom of the page count? Lastly, just serve real spam on your menu! It's the true Ono way! The house made spam is not spam, doesn't taste like spam, the texture is off, it tastes like a marinated sausage patty, and the bones!! We bit into pieces of ground up pork bones and nearly cracked our tooth! Eating spam should be a happy moment with your senses with that surge of tasty MSG. No bones are allowed. The dessert was at least solid to end the meal.
Food and service were of high quality.
everything is fresh. See you again soon when I visit San Francisco
Overall a really mixed bag of an experience.
Food tasted like an imitation of fine dining (interesting dishes that are just interesting and are not fully developed). We got the "let us cook for you" menu, which was their version of a tasting menu. There were definitely really incredible food here (duck mousse with banana bread, baked Hawaii), but the quality was really all over the place. The tuna poke was mediocre, the shrimp was just a tad bit overcooked (the rice in the shrimp dish was amazing), the swordfish katsu was really dry from overcooking and had no salt, the homemade spam on furikake rice was... just that, the noodles were a bad imitation of cantonese chow mein. Also, for a tasting menu, they re-used a lot of their sauces, so a few dishes (served close together) tasted very similar. The level of service and decor suggested something high end, but most of the servers seemed really apathetic and unfriendly. I love eating at casual mom and pop Chinese places, so I'm not a stickler for service, but it was just super strange that they do some things super well (wiping the table between dishes, changing out the utensils/plates, folding napkin) and some things not as well (turning away before they finished introducing the food, etc.). The staff that interacted with us the most were amazing (our server + hostess). Drinks were great.
Liholiho Yacht Club is an incredible establishment in SF
Liholiho Yacht Club is an incredible establishment in SF and a classic must go to spot. Recommended to do shareable dishes. The ambiance is quite casual and really takes you to the islands to enjoy a drink and food. I highly recommend their kimchi fried rice, swordfish, and spring pea salad. The menu changes quite often so you're always in for a treat. My one ding was that service was slower than expected but in part due to a large crowd. Food: 9/10 Service 8/10 Price: $$-$$$
Amazing fine dining Hawaiian/Pacific inspired food! The
Amazing fine dining Hawaiian/Pacific inspired food! The staff was amazing and we decided to try the tasting menu which was delicious! Only complaint was that there was so much food we were stuffed by the entree but that's not much of a con. Loved the open view of the kitchen and colorful decor inside. A great spot for a special occasion!

Came here with my partner and another couple (who love this place and have come multiple times). Pretty excited to come here as this place used to be pretty difficult to get a reservation on the past. We looked at the menu and we all decided to do the tasting menu. This included the tuna tartar, the chicken liver mousse, the katsu swordfish, the gulf shrimp with forbidden rice, the ribeye, turmeric rice noodle, as well as some off menu items like their famous house made spam with rice, a cucumber salad, a crudo with cumquats, and an extra small bite at the beginning (it's eluding me what that small bite was). I'd say there were some highs and lows of the dinner, but everything was at least decent. The spam was underseasoned and with the underseasoned rice it was just ok. The 3rd small bite was underwhelming. The numeric noodles were also just ok. While I liked the katsu swordfish, half of my party felt it was too dry and not successful. The real winners of the night were the chicken liver mouse bite and the gulf shrimp, as well as the cucumber salad and the crudo with cumquats. For dessert we had the baked Hawaii and the galette. Both desserts were decent. The service started off very nice but definitely dipped after a bit. We wanted more drinks but no one was checking on us, even when they were dropping off the food. It was like once they knew we were doing the tasting menu they went into full autopilot. I will say that the tasting menu is an amazing value, not just for SF but for almost anywhere in CA. Given the value it does make up for Some of the food and service shortcomings. Our friends who had been before said that this was not as good of an experience as they've had in the past so maybe this was an off night. I would come back, but I'd probably do it differently based on this initial experience.

This place had a great vibe! The interior design was modern and beautiful, perfect for a night out with friends. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite as impressive. The service, however, was phenomenal. Our server was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, offering fantastic recommendations for both food and drinks. Overall I'd gave a 3 star on food and 5 stars for the service! The food itself was average, with a few misses. Here's a breakdown: - Tuna Poke (3/5): The seaweed was a bit tough and not crispy as expected. - Duck Liver (3/5): The strawberry topping was a nice touch, but I've had better. It needed a bolder flavor profile. - Steamed Bun (3/5): The kimchi added a nice touch, but overall the dish wasn't very memorable. - Ocean Trout Sashimi (4/5): This was definitely a highlight - flavorful and fresh. - Gulf Shrimp (5/5): The star of the show! Huge, juicy shrimp with a delicious sauce that complemented the crispy rice perfectly. - Soft Shell Crab Ukoy (3/5): Just your standard fried soft shell crab - nothing special. - Grilled Summer Squash (4/5): A great choice for a lighter dish - flavorful and refreshing. Dessert & Drinks: Baked Hawaii (5/5): his is a must-try! The dreamy marshmallow topping on the sorbet is the perfect balance of sweet and light. Marshmallow Tea (3/5): Unfortunately, the marshmallow tea was a bit bland. Everything Nice(4/5): This fruity and refreshing drink hits the spot but 3/5 of the drink is filled with ice. While I probably wouldn't return for the food, the cute atmosphere and excellent service make it a great place for drinks and hanging out with friends.
In short, I had a fantastic experience here.
I arrived an hour early for my reservation and was invited to grab a drink at the bar. When my party arrived, we sat in a booth with full view of the kitchen where the head chef/owner was directing and plating, always with a huge smile. We elected for the chef's tasting menu and we were blown away by the breadth of flavors and the execution of the dishes. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive; our water was topped off, plates were cleared, and each plate came with a detailed description. The highlights were the poke, pork, lamb, and the baked Hawaii. I loved this place and will be back soon!
Worth every penny
The food was insane. Amazing staff, great vibe and the best asparagus I’ve ever eaten. Thoroughly recommend. Worth the walk up the San Fran hills.
Unique Hawaiian
Not your typical luau Kalua pork, poi, lomi salmon or lau lau. Unique dishes, at least to us. Try as much as your budget allows. Excellent chips and dip with trout roe, trout sashimi, gulf shrimp with crunchy forbidden rice, shaved pig head - not what you might think, fried rice with homemade spam to start. Long cod plus pork chop and top off with baked Hawaii and panna cotta. Bring large family. Interesting cocktails too. Great service.
We had an amazing time at Liholiho! Been meaning to come
We had an amazing time at Liholiho! Been meaning to come here for a while and finally made a reservation for Saturday dinner. Would definitely recommend planning ahead to make a res as it gets quite busy after it opens and we've often seen people wait to walk in right when they open at 5pm. We started with drinks with the spring sling and sunbather. The cocktails were bright and light - the perfect way to start a meal. For food, we ordered a beef tongue bao each, trout sashimi, turmeric rice noodle, swordfish katsu, and gulf shrimp with crispy rice to share between 3 people and it was just the right amount of food. The highlight of the night was definitely the swordfish katsu which was perfectly fried and crispy but light and moist inside still. Swordfish isn't a protein I'd normally order but this was truly delicious and I loved the sauce served with the katsu. Would definitely order this along with the shrimp with crispy black rice and kombu-cured trout sashimi again. We were too full for dessert but wish we ordered the baked alaska as well. We'll have to come back for their $85 tasting menu next time!
One of the top rated restaurants in San Francisco, and it
One of the top rated restaurants in San Francisco, and it doesn't disappoint. The atmosphere is cool vibe with a fun touch. It's perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date. And, the food, well that's what we are here for. Our server convinced us to try the 10 course premix fixe option. And, I am glad she did. It was a taste journey. I'd say this is moderately pricey restaurant. But, treat yourself. It won't break the budget and you'll love it.
Been wanting to come here for years and finally was able to
Been wanting to come here for years and finally was able to come here. Service was great. We were seated quite quickly. Sat down and the gentlemen who helped us was nice and knowledgeable about everything all the way to the sauces and ingredients in the food. We order the ukoy, gulf shrimp, buttermilk fried hen, and, tumeric rice noodles. Ukoy: crispy veggies with sauce Gulf shrimp: shrimp with kumquat over crispy rice. Butter fried milk friend hen: cut in 4 and fried. Tumeric rice noodles: rice noodles with mushrooms Everything was so good! We got dessert baked Hawaii and the mochi. This was just perfor for 4 girls and got a taste of without feeling bad.

Liholiho is a restaurant that holds a special place in our hearts, as it brought back fond memories of our trip to Kaua'i during the COVID-19 pandemic. We had wanted to try this place for over five years, and the moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by its beauty and open concept. The open kitchen was mesmerizing as the skilled chefs prepared each dish precisely and carefully. The service we received at Liholiho was also wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and attended to our needs throughout the evening. What impressed us the most was when they remembered that it was our second anniversary, and they went above and beyond to make us feel special, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Liholiho is a delightful fusion of flavors and textures; each dish we tried was a culinary masterpiece. The beef tongue poppyseed bao buns were a revelation, and the braised pig head salad was a surprising and bold choice that exceeded our expectations. This dish showcased the chef's creativity and expertise. The kimchi spam fried rice, made in-house, was another highlight. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the katsu swordfish. This was a dish unlike anything we had ever tasted before. The swordfish was expertly breaded and fried to perfection, resulting in a crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. To top off the evening, we indulged in the baked Hawaii dessert. It was a delightful and satisfying end to an already fantastic meal. TL;DR: Our experience at Liholiho was nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant's beautiful and open concept, combined with the attentive service and incredible food, made it a true culinary gem. It's a place that reminded us of our trip to Kaua'i and created new and unforgettable memories. We highly recommend Liholiho to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience.
Came here last night for a belated birthday dinner.
My boyfriend and I shared the tuna poke, shaved pig head, fried rice, and swordfish katsu. We also split a baked Hawaii for dessert. Enjoyed it all but the swordfish katsu was definitely the highlight of our meal. overall, a fun experience and fantastic meal. Looking forward to trying the rest of LihoLiho's offerings very soon!
Absolutely fantastic! The food is excellent and treated
Absolutely fantastic! The food is excellent and treated with wisdom and combined in an unusual way. Excellent cocktails, the girls who take care of room service are all smiling and make you feel welcomed. Will be back
The last time we dined here was in 2018 and we are so
The last time we dined here was in 2018 and we are so excited to visit again after 6 years. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees and one dessert, which turn out to be a bit too much. The dish impresses us the most is Ukoy, a Filipino style "tempura". It's crispy and freshly fried with interesting seasoning that we never had before. The fried game hen is the second best and it's like extra crunchy fried chicken with unique seasons, and the best part is the corn bread to me because of its crispy buttery skin. The rest of the meals are good but not too amazing. The service definitely deserves star. The waiters are very friendly and they make you feel you are dining in star restaurant.
You have to go here.
We visited last night. Liholiho has a fabulous vibe & everyone was just lovely. The food is out of this world. Just vibrant & interesting & novel & utterly delicious. We had two fish dishes to share - the cod & the swordfish & both were so fresh & the accompanying elements made each dish unique. We didn’t order appetisers as we wanted to leave room for dessert but we shared the chips & kimchi dip which again were just delicious and unique. Desserts were sublime & beautifully presented. Would highly recommend booking a table here for whenever you can - they were rightly busy all night. Special shout out to Alejandro who looked after us so wonderfully and made the whole experience even better. We will definitely be back next time we visit S.F.
Consistent.
execution. every. single. time. Recently I came to LihoLiho for the fourth time (first time in 2015), and my appreciation and love for LihoLiho has only grown! Execution is consistent, everything I've tried is delicious, unique, interesting, beautiful, and fun. I would always get the baked hawaii for dessert It is a bit expensive and everything adds up, there is a 6% SF mandate added to your deck Service was superb as usual and super fun vibe For this most recent visit, we opted for the tasting menu which was $85 for 11 bites / items per person. It featured 6 things currently on the menu and 5 things on previous menus - we thought, why not? don't need to make any decisions.... Our favorites were: - duck liver mousse - tuna poke - ukoy (purple sweet potato, trumpet mushroom, sweet onion, old bay, shiso ranch) - swordfish katsu - baked hawaii (of course!) I thought the drinks were okay, they were fine, not impressive, but maybe I just didn't order the right drinks Overall, can't wait to be back again!

Yep it's pricy, yep the portions on the smaller side, and yep it's super tasty. Oh yeah, yep the cocktails are good
The best meal I've had in SF in a year.
Absolutely extraordinary food. LihoLiho got her groove back. We'd been back a couple times since they reopened, but this latest iteration of the menu (Fried game hen with brown butter cornbread, anyone?) has reinstated LYCSF as one of our top 3 spots in the city. Let's start with the drinks. Cocktails are unique and refreshing; I loved the herbaceous Spring Sling. They've got some great local craft beers that made my partner happy, like Tiny Dankster. And finally, the wines will invite you to try something new and we haven't met a glass we didn't like (mmmm Gamay). Getting into apps, do not skip the Tuna Poke and the Duck Liver Moose. I don't care if you're not a Duck Liver Moose person (I'm not); Get this one anyway. It comes on a fresh, warm pumpkin bread with pickled celery with pink peppercorn and it unlocked a new realm in my soul. Next up the turmeric rice noodle is unmissable, served with maitakes and a little seaweed that brings a delicious, flavorful, fresh crunch. But the brightest stars of the night for our table were the mains: the Buttermilk Fried Game Hen and the Grass Fed Ribeye. Beautiful, perfectly composed bites of food that you will never forget. There was not a single thing on the plate with the game hen that wasn't delicious: the pickled veg, hot sauce, brown butter cornbread, and of course the game hen itself. The brine on this little bb makes it the most perfectly seasoned borb I've met on the West Coast. When you get the ribeye, be sure to compose each bite with everything they bring you. The flavors have been so carefully quilted together to form a complete picture, from the horseradish to the hot mustard. Sadly, we were out of room for dessert, but we'll be back as soon as possible to enjoy this feast again. Oh, and on top of everything, the service here is just fantastic and the ambiance is relaxed yet elevated. LihoLiho is absolute gem. Don't miss it.
EAT HERE! Excellent.
Simply excellent food. Eat here when you can, and often. The sooner the better. We first ate here about 18 months ago and were overjoyed.
Outstanding Dinner
This is a truly outstanding restaurant featuring Hawaiian food. The cocktails were creative and strong, the food was excellent, and service was first rate too. I stuck to the vegetarian options and left very happy.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
