Aweful is too good for this restaurant
Heard about Hawker Chan’s restaurant and had to give it a go. What a mistake that was!! In my opinion, they are resting on their laurels from yesteryear when they still had a Michelin star but now it’s dreadful. The chicken fried rice they were renowned for was the worst I’ve tasted. Chicken was fatty and greasy, skin still on, with the bones still in and only just cooked, in fact it was all just luke warm. We also ordered dumplings as a side order but they took another 5 minutes to come when we were half way through eating. For those who don’t know this restaurant, it is self serve so when they call your number,it is up to you to collect from the servery… not what you want while eating. As for the restrooms, yuck. Located right next to the pot wash and only one cubicle each for male and female. We will not return. P.S the drinks were nice and cold which was a plus.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing
Very disappointing for a place that used to have a Michelin star. It won’t qualify for one on the meals we had. Both mains were cold and the chicken undercooked. Vegetables and dumplings were a bit better. Also, little or no atmosphere. Not recommended.
Be the first to ReplyHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
It's been the most disgusting chicken I've ever tried. Full of bones, not cooked at all and blood coming out from it. After I tried the first bite, I left the rest as I didn't feel hungry anymore. Michelin Star? I DOUBT IT. See the picture below.
Be the first to ReplyExpect to wait minimum 30 mins
Expect to wait minimum 30 mins for it. For rice, cost S$3.50 and noodle is $4. This is one of the cheapest or reasonable price for a whole chicken S$18. The chicken was moist and especially the sauce is not salty. Worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyDon't be lured by the Michelin star
Soy sauce chicken was dreadful, cold, rubbery and mostly bones and red veins inside had me doubting it was cooked properly.
Be the first to ReplyKeep away. Dreadful.
If I could give 0 I would. Cold, slimy and just a pile of bones. Don’t bother. Michelin star?! How? Luckily it’s cheap. Still have to write more… cold rice, cold noodles, cold chicken

I had read about Hawker Chan and wanted to try out his cuisine. I happened to walk by at 1.30 pm and entered his place. Surprisingly, there were only 3 people in the queue on a Monday 16th January afternoon. There were also many seats available. Many of the visitors were foreigners. I ordered a takeaway of crispy pork and rice. Whilst the food was palatable, I found the quantity far less than expected. Takeaways seem to be where caterers save on food by giving less – customers only know when they open the container! The pork was not crispy and there were only a few slices of it. Maybe I should have eaten in situ and chosen more dishes.
Be the first to ReplyBad experience and normal food
Chicken was average. Cashier was plain rude. Staff were busy chatting since they did not need serve customers. The staff was so impatient with calling the customer's number. Just keep pressing and pressing. NEVER coming again. There are many options in Singapore. Dont get scam.
Be the first to ReplyChicken is excellent (skip the rest...)
The chicken was tender, moist, and easily the best chicken we have had in the past couple weeks. The rest of the food was "just OK," which surprised me for a Michelin Star restaurant. However, I would go back again just for the chicken.
Be the first to ReplyMust try
It is a cheap food restaurant with a Michelin star, the staff is a bit rude with tourists, they do not have much patience, especially the cashier, but you eat very well and it has nothing to do with the chef who very kindly came out and took some photos with us

Chicken was tender and juicy, but the noodles tasted hard and food served a bit cold. Apple tofu very nice, pork so so only. Overall still didn't meet my expectation. Hope can improve the standard and the service, otherwise quite difficult to get back the Michelin star.

Food was decent and the price is ok. The chicken was really nice the pork was average. There were limited options on the menu.

Food taste like any other soya chicken, better try Maria soya chicken opposite 78smith street. Will never visit again.

So I cheated- I had it delivered to me via the Grab app. Food arrived in good time, I didn’t have to wait as long as with other restaurants.
Super awesome food, really enjoyed it, very yummy. Will definitely order again before I leave.
Dirty and food standard from bad to worst
Dirty and food standard from bad to worst. disappointed and over priced... not worth even a visit...
Be the first to ReplySadly very overrated
Sadly very overrated, chicken was even undercooked, a little but red. $5 seems cheap but this type of meal would be worth $2,5/$3 in any other hawker center. Great marketing though!
Be the first to ReplyIf There's Proof Michelin Stars are a Scam, This is it.
I appreciate Michelin Starred eateries.
But... the food here is so.. average.. it really puts the spotlight on Michelin's credibility on awarding stars to establishments that are not their usual fare, like French or Italian.
Honestly, you could blindly pick any other hawker selling the same thing and you'd have a decent chance of having a similar or better experience.
The best Chasiew Noodle
Chasiew noodle is my favourite dishes. I know which one is good and which one is not good. Hawker chan is one of the best in the world. I travel around asia and always looking for my favourite dishes. Hawker chan is one of the best
Be the first to ReplyWould give a GOOD rating if it existed!!!!
Had tried Hawker Chan when it used to be at Funan and found it very average. However when I was serving my SHN this year, a friend dropped off some goodies among which was Hawker Chan noodles and extra chicken. As there was loadsa food to eat we only had the HC stuff a few hours later. Texture of the noodles was still very good and it was very tasty. Decided to visit the original stall when I had a chance. We went not too long after the stall opened so there was a queue but not unmanageable and we didn't have to wait long to get the food. The menu was a bit confusing in terms of add ons and we went with the recommendation of the staff which was helpful as otherwise we might have ended up with too much food. The noodles were very good as always, the roast meat wasn't special & while the flavouring of the chicken was good, this was only on the skin rather than infused in the meat. While the overall price was reasonable, the veg was a bit pricier than other places we had been to. All in all, the braise flavour is really good but it's lacking on the meat of the chicken. Is it worth queueing for? Hmmmm....maybe up to 15 or 20 mins. Any more, I am not sure!
