Terrible restaurant! I found a hair in my food and they would not let me change my order or comp me for my meal. On top of the food being very bland, the service is awful. If I could give it negative stars, I would.
Be the first to ReplyDeeply anti semitic.
do not eat. Openly posts hateful messages on instagram denouncing Jews. The food was never that great. The service was always terrible. Now it turns out they are super hateful.
Be the first to Replyjust bad all around.
their prices are so high and the food is sub par. not worth the effort plus the owner is an antisemite.

The owner of this place is a nazi who hates anyone who isn't like him. I'd be afraid to even walk into the place. Absolutely reprehensible and frightening. I'd probably get poisoned.
Be the first to ReplyEverything about this restaurant is bad.
Bad service, bad food, bad owner. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else!
Be the first to ReplyThe owner hates Jews.
Would rather eat at McDonald's then give any of my hard earned Jewish money to an antisemitic prick

The food and service were atrocious and I will never ever come back! Also, the owner seems to think he can survive without any Jews as customers with his wildly disgusting public statements. Hope that strategy works out for ya!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible establishment.
Will never return! The owner is despicable and no one should set foot in here.
Be the first to ReplyHate-filled atmosphere.
Avoid at all costs. Absolutely disgusting! Please see referenced photo for proof of the garbage you're supporting by patronizing this place.

Published hateful post using F word to describe everything in the current conflict except for Hamas. If you like your food prepared by someone with so much hate in them this is your place.
Be the first to ReplyMan, what a fantastic dining experience.
Got into Rhinebeck last night after work as a stop on the way up to Vermont and this was my first experience while in town. This place does everything from A to Z perfectly. Amazing serving staff, food was absolutely phenomenal (I am a self proclaimed French onion soup connoisseur and the FO here was likely #3 on my all time list) and the bartender made an excellent Negroni. The server brought out the Negroni before the bartender had the chance to add the finishing orange peel touch, did that stop her? No. She came over to our table with orange peels and accented the glass with them and placed them in our drinks to ensure a proper Negroni experience. Final thought was that their bread was to die for. Can't say enough good things about this place
Be the first to Replybrunch there for a celebration with friends.
the ambience is lovely, though the seating is very claustrophobic, but luckily we had a booth. while the food was good, and the service Was "fine" the wait staff did act as we were just their latest customer etc., with no real enthusiasm...My biggest concern is the lack of options for vegan/ vegetarian diners. To charge 18$ for 2 pancakes and up charge for some "greens"- 3 pieces of lovely lettuce in lieu of bacon which must cost more is insulting. In this day and age it is archaic not to have appropriate replacement options for them, French or not. While this is Rhinebeck, a tourist destination, we happen to be locals. While I had a lovely time with my friends, and the food was "ok" we could have done quite as well at the local diner ordering eggs and pancakes for 1/4 the price. Sadly, I doubt I would return, with some many other local options. I hope they take this seriously. I am not very optimistic!
Be the first to ReplyWe have enjoyed dinner here in the past.
Sometimes they have offered small sweet oysters from Wellfleet and Canadian waters, which we love. We went for brunch today and they only had large oysters, which we don't enjoy. That aside, the brunch would have been much more enjoyable had the waiter not nickeled and dimed us. It made us feel very bad. We had a reservation and were promptly seated, but had to wait a long while for the waiter to greet us. That was ok. The three of us each ordered a cocktail, an appetizer to share, and three entrees. I requested that the waiter hold the bacon that came with the 18 dollars pancakes. He said ok. I asked if I could have a tiny bit of greenery or fruit instead and he said I could have a tiny bit of salad for extra cost. But the plate arrived with two pancakes and nothing else. When served I asked about the small salad and the waiter replied it would cost extra and I that I didn't confirm that I wanted it. I said I did so they brought a very mini but good salad and charged me for it. I think it is tacky that they would serve a plate of two pancakes without anything else on the plate for 18 dollars. I saved them the cost of the meat I didn't want. A slice or two of bananas or a few berries would have been what one would expect. Our friend then requested a bit of maple syrup for her plate of potato pancakes. They did bring it but charged 3 dollars for the tiny amount of syrup. These small greedy gestures do not become a restaurant of this style! Bad judgement on the waiter or the manager's part. Too bad. I wonder, did the original owner of this restaurant retire or sell to a new owner? I remember him from long ago greeting customers and spreading good will. I don't believe I would ever have this negative experience at the Canard, which has long been in operation across the river. I'm so disappointed in the pompous, greedy service that I do not plan to return to La Petit Bistro.
Be the first to ReplyLe Petit Bistro never disappoints.
You can always expect top notch service and exceptional food. Bryan and Kyle made our visit extra special. Can't wait to go back again.
Be the first to ReplyCute place and friendly staff.
Only 2 ppl on for brunch. Would have given 5 stars if not for understaffing and overcooked eggs. One waitress was covering the majority of the tables and they were busy for brunch. She took her time taking my order. Answered questions etc. I was excited we were off to a good start. Coffee was luke warm but scone orange pistachio scone was devine . I would buy 6 to take home and freeze but they only have scones on Sundays. The server never came back to check on me. I flagged her down after sitting at the table patiently waiting for over 20 minutes. The Shakshuka eggs way over cooked but taste was there. I would have let them remake these but they waited too long to comeback to me and let me know the options. They comped these. Diners who are willing to tell you their opinions aren't always looking for free food (some do, I don't). I would rather have a dish remade or just let them know there is a problem then just taking the easy way out of getting comped. I told the server that I wasn't looking for these to be comped and her response was "at least you don't have to pay for them". I'm sure she thought she was being helpful and nice but it was condescending.
Be the first to ReplyAmbience was classic French bistro.
We sat in the newer part near the bar on the banquette. Love the classic menu options on chalkboard. Had the French onion soup which was spot on, Gruyère was perfect. Steak tartare was decently made, but the steak frites was what i fondly remember- hearty and delicious, good portion too. Service was semi slow in the beginning with not sure who was our server but ended out fine. Would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and great service.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. I love eating at the bar and chatting with the staff and other customers. Fabulous place!
Be the first to ReplyThis is probably the best in Rhinebeck.
A modern French cuisine that's very affordable. The restaurant has two part of seating, the one by the entrance is more modern with big windows the inside room is the original building more a darker tone old country home vibe. Sunday brunch has the regular on the QR code and also have special written on the board. Highly recommend their fried oyster is not overly oiled, just lightly dusted and fried a little bit so it's not overly cooked. Topped with some fish rows and cucumber. The French onion soup is very tasty as well. The mussels are very fresh but a little lack of flavor. Service is not super fast like in the city so need to move patient to anticipate a longer dining time. They also have a good wine selection.
Be the first to ReplyThe service and food is always on point .
The bread that they serve individually is the best . I would skip the bistro salad . It's very plain but the dressing is decadent . I always get the hangar steak and sometimes substitute the frites for mashed potatoes but tonight I decided on the frites and it came with aioli and asparagus that was cooked to perfection . My hubby always gets the ny strip steak Au Poivre. The sauce is pretty heavy so he has a hard time finishing . If you have never been, you need to go. Make a reservation as it gets packed very quickly.

.... please STOP giving us giftcertificates to this beyond mediocre restaurant. Every time we come here it is so disappointing......we promise we'll NEVER come back. And then we get a gift card with too much value to discard. Wetalk ourselves in to giving it another chance. No BUENO! Though the service was good. The foodInedible.... other than the oysters. Burger way over cooked. Shrimp was so hard I chipped a tooth! Ambience was nice... drinks were nice... don't come for the food. And please NO more gift certificates.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon with three other people - we put our name down for a table and they told us it would be an hour wait, so we walked down to Bread Alone to get a coffee and pastry whilst we waited. We browsed some shops and headed back after an hour. The seating hostess told us the table would not be ready for another hour - we looked outside and there were three empty clean tables - she told us they were for people who had made reservations, even though we technically had put our name down and "made a reservation" an hour ago. We watched for 30 minutes and no one showed up to those three empty tables - finally she seated us at one of those tables. It made absolutely no sense. In addition to this extremely rude and illogical behavior, the food was bad.
Be the first to ReplyIt truly upsets me to leave a three star review for this
It truly upsets me to leave a three star review for this place, but our visit on Sunday evening was a serious disappointment. We had reservations for 5:45, and arrived a few minutes early. It wasn't very crowded, yet they started seating us in the middle of two very closely spaced, crowded tables. They agreed it was too close, and seated us in the other section that wasn't yet crowded. We asked for the wine list, as we always order a reasonably priced bottle of wine with dinner. We looked at the menu on our phone and decided on a bottle of Syrah. A few minutes later, we were told they might not have the wine. They came back and said they sold out the day before. We again looked at the wine list, and decided on another wine, a 2015 Pinot Noir for $55. The original Syrah was $45, so we already upped our normal $50 limit. We decided on our food, and ordered. He ordered potato leek soup, and we each ordered an appetizer and an entree. Since he was the only one having soup, he asked her to bring his soup first, and then bring our appetizers, so we could have our apps at the same time. They brought the wine, we saw it was the Pinot Noir, he (the wine steward, we assume) poured it and my partner approved. He then poured a little in each glass, saying that the wine cellar is a bit colder than he liked, so give the bottle time to come to temperature. (Huh? We expect $50 bottles of wine to be served at the proper temperature, but we let it go.)A bit of time passes, and our waitress comes over with my partner's potato leek soup, and french onion soup. What??? We definitely didn't order french onion soup. The waitress seemed confused when we told her I didn't order any soup. She took them BOTH back.A little while later, when she didn't come back, we asked where his soup was, and she said they were keeping it hot. What???? Why???? (While we were waiting for her to bring his soup back out, we saw her bring the same soup to someone two tables away.) We said she should bring it. A little while later, she said it was going to be crowded on the (tiny) table. Apparently, she was keeping the soup hot so she could bring everything out together. What???? First of all, we explicitly asked for his soup to come out first, and then bring the appetizers so we could eat them while they are hot. She said of course we want them hot, and she offered to SELL our mussels so we could eat them after his soup and my appetizer as another course so they'd be hot. What??? (Around this time, we saw her bring another bowl of soup to the same person two tables away, and he looked up at her and clearly it was another screw up.)Whatever. We agreed to bringing things her way just so we could enjoy what was already on the table while it was still hot! If the service thus far hadn't been a pathetic comedy of errors, we would simply have been raving about the food. The food, as usual, was incredible. My crispy fried oysters were as amazing as ever. His soup was fantastic, and his mussels were tender, flavorful and perfect along with the frites and dunked bread!A short time later, our entrees arrived. My lamb chops were perfectly medium rare, and just about the best I have ever had. His duck was just ducky...lol. Actually he was extremely happy with it. The Pinot Noir we ordered was a perfect accompaniment to our meal.We barely had room for dessert, so we decided to have coffee, and share the profiteroles. It was the end to a delicious meal. It was a genuine shame that service was such a disaster. Maybe it was her first day, maybe she was overwhelmed, maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe it was all of the above. Who knows. So we asked for our check, and the service mistakes just kept coming. The bottle of wine we ordered was supposed to be $55. (This was already after we couldn't get the original $45 bottle.). We were charged $85 for the wine!!!!! WTF??? My partner actually went to get the wine list to double check the price. Apparently, they brought us the 2018 even though we CLEARLY ordered the 2015. I decided that since it was my partner's birthday, and I was paying for it, I didn't want to argue about it. We never thought that we should have stopped the wine steward before he opened it so we could check the entire wine label against the wine list. Pulling the wrong vintage and then charging us double what we originally wanted to pay (had they not run out of the wine we really wanted), just added insult to injury for the night.Normally, we would not think twice about coming back here again, or recommending it to friends, but it seriously makes us reconsider. Spending over $270 for two people for dinner, and getting the service we did, just makes us reconsider returning or recommending this place. The food was 5 stars. The service was zero stars.I am hoping that whatever happened with the service on Sunday night is rectified. Quickly.
Be the first to ReplyJust ok.
I wanted to love it here given their reputation. But I left not loving the food or service. The food was fine, didn't knock my socks off. The best thing we got were the oysters which were perfect. The drinks were good too. Everything else just ehh. The service was strange we ate at the bar and interacted with pretty much every employee. There wasn't one person that was waiting on us so there was often a gap in service. For example, they never asked us if we wanted another drink...strange. Also had to ask for a few thing twice. Everyone was kind, just a bit scattered. I did love the atmosphere. I will be back to give them another try.

I want to love this place based on the atmosphere and service... the food left me wanting something more. Onion soup, blazing hot, in a crock, tasted good, personally like mine with more of a peppery taste as opposed to sweet. But it hit the spot for a cold dayBeet salad was fire, size was great, the orange and pickled onion made a nice contrast to the normal. Pork schnitzel was amazing, only ate half and can't wait to dive back in later tonight with the leftovers. The beef bourguignon was unfortunately pasty and dry, took a few bites and then stole my partners schnitzel. Dessert trio was good, they had to sub one of the items but it happens.

This review is a little overdue as my girlfriend and I went here in November but we had a great time and the food was fantastic. I had some of the best french onion soup I have had in a long time and the main courses were done right and delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be coming back for more.
