Awesome real French bistro food
Love this place, small - local, French, owner operated and authentic- consistently excellent bistro food with excellent portions at a fair price, their specials are awesome. 100% carry out currently, always a great choice for take home dinner.
Be the first to ReplyA delightful touch of excellent classic French cuisine at very reasonable price
My wife and I went there once (for Valentine Day's dinner) and enormously enjoyed the classic, delightful seafood preparations; location, atmosphere, and parking are OK, and the prices quite reasonable (maybe not for wine; we didn't have any so we didn't check on that specifically).
Be the first to ReplyWonderful little place--food and service very good!
Recently our group of 5 ate dinner at Le Petit Bistro. All of us really enjoyed the meal. Two of us had the chicken and it was delicious, tender, and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is small and cozy and the servers were helpful and very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific!
Small, reasonably quiet, white tablecloth’s restaurant. Good selection of courses. Lamb chops and Coquille outstanding. Courteous service. If you order wine by the glass, they pour at your table. How refreshing!, Not inexpensive, but nothing around here is. Good value. Will in definitely go back.

We spent a delightful evening at Le Petit Bistro. My husband had dined here with clients years ago and he liked it then. It's still as warm and inviting with delicious food today. It was my first time dining there. They made us feel special celebrating my birthday. There are many good restaurants in this area. There's a reason Le Petit Birstro has thrived all these years. It really is a bit of Paris in Mountain View.
Be the first to ReplyGone downhill since previous visits
We've been to this restaurant a number of times and have previously reviewed it. This visit was not too good. The service and cleanliness, was OK, but the food and ambience definitely has taken a downturn since our last visit.
We were the first diners so there wasn't any issue with understaffing.
FOOD:
Coquille St Jacques - Very good but the accompanying vegetables, identified by the waitress as eggplant and turnips, was heavily overseasoned with something unidentifiable. One bite was plenty.
Coq au Vin. Tender but also heavily overseasoned or overmarinated.
Dessert crepe. Mediocre, especially for the high price
AMBIENCE:
From the first moment we were seated, there were two staff members folding napkins and talking at a nearby table IN THE DINING AREA, easily within view of all diners. This continued thoughout the meal as the dining area filled with other diners. This prep work should be done off-stage and out of sight. The place is small so, if there isn't room in the back, it should be done during off-hours, before opening. Not very classy and definitely not upscale. They should know better. Sad!
A welcoming restaurant where you can converse!
I searched TripAdvisor for restaurants rated "quiet" near me. The decor is a little dated but the traditional food remains delicious. A simple menu with familiar choices.
Yes, we could talk and be heard. One of my newest requirements for a pleasant meal out.
Reservations on a weeknight, early, probably not needed but for a large group or weekend definitely needed. The restaurant is quite small.
The Vegetable Puff Pastry (Be aware takes 20 minutes) and Coq AuVin were very tasty comforting food on a "cold" night in Mountain View.
Place for romantic, leisurely meal
My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant on a recent Saturday. He had a salmon special, and I ordered the vegetable puff pastry. We were greeted warmly in French, and all of the servers were very courteous and friendly. We were allowed to split the Caesar salad for appetizer, and a complementary mini-loaf of sliced sourdough was provided. It did take awhile for the main course to arrive, but the atmosphere is so nice that it was great to just enjoy quiet conversation over our bread and salad. The main courses were beautifully presented and delicious. We also shared a dessert crepe filled with fruit and topped with chocolate sauce. I used the restroom after the meal, and it was clean but my only suggestion would be to add a hook for hanging a purse or coat.
Be the first to ReplyA favorite for good food and French atmosphere
This restaurant is our favorite pre-theater dinner experience. We find the food to be to be excellent; no one in our party is ever disappointed. The family service and french background music are a plus.
