TOP IN EUROPE
I consider La Reserve one of the top hotel in the world. Beautiful rooms, very well appointed, dramatic views, excellent services, high professional staff, super breakfast and dinner, beautiful beach service at La Reserve a La Plage. I came here for the 4th time and I will continue the next years
Be the first to ReplyClunky and Subpar Service
Truly confused by the service at this hotel and it’s status as the premier property in the region. I’ll start by saying that my wife and I have travelled around France more than once, and we understand French culture and how it may differ from what we’re often accustomed to. That said - at a property of this status and caliber we have been sorely disappointed. The service has been clunky and awkward at best, otherwise, downright rude and inattentive. We have only been here 1 night but we already feel strongly that we wouldn’t recommend it or come back unless things really turn around. We arrived very late in the evening, later than we expected due to travel delays. We let the staff know about our delayed arrival and that we’d like a speedy check in so that we could still make our 9:45 pm dinner reservation. The valet and a gentlemen from the front desk (not a concierge) greeted us immediately by name, took our bags swiftly, and they were incredibly kind and welcoming. We also had an excellent dinner at the Japanese restaurant - the food is delicious. That’s where our positive experience with the service ended. The next morning we asked to speak with the concierge to firm up our beach club and dinner reservations. When we sat down at the desk and introduced ourselves he never looked away from his computer screen. Noticing this, we asked if now was a bad time as we would be happy to come back later when he’s free, and he responded with “no” but he still never gave us his full attention. Because the weather was looking bad one of the days and because we missed the sunset our first night due to our travel delays, we wanted to switch two of our reservations. When we asked for the second change, the concierge very rudely said “a lot of switching reservations, huh.” I’m sure he meant it as a joke but it came off biting. We were appalled. No apology. Our overall experience with him was so sour that about an hour later, my wife wanted an extra room key (they only provided one), but she didn’t want to ask the front desk because we felt like we were being too much trouble. And we quickly realized what a shame that is and how truly unacceptable is it for a hotel of this caliber to make us feel that way for something so minuscule. That same morning, my wife wanted to send 3 few items of clothing to be dry cleaned or pressed. Knowing that same day turnaround requires an early drop off, she went to the lobby at 8. When she inquired about dry cleaning because we didn’t see a form in the room, concierge rudely told her just try looking again or call housekeeping. Even though she brought the clothing items with her to the lobby and they were literally in her hands. For $2,000/night, I would expect them to take them directly and say “of course, we’ll take care of it.” But no. So back to the room she went. Called housekeeping, filled out a form, and left the items outside the room at 8:55 am. The housekeeping manager said they’d come pick it up right now. When we came back to the room after breakfast at 9:50 am, a full hour later, it was still sitting there. Also there seemed to be a number of people working in the lobby, but when we asked a question we were directed to someone else. The property is beautiful, our room is spacious and the views are stunning. The food is also very good. But we believe that service is what makes or breaks a property, and for whatever reason, they really miss the mark here.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful service in serene setting at La Reserve
As others have described, La Reserve Ramatuelle is situated on a hillside outside of Ramatuelle overlooking the sea. The neighborhood has some small wineries, a campground (mostly staff housing) and further down L'Escalet. I do not recommend walking on the road as it's narrow and very busy.
We stayed in a junior suite for 12 nights and everything was perfect, especially the concierge team of Arnaud and Phillippe who made bookings, proactively checked on our stay and more. The staff was universally friendly and nice. My wife, myself and our friends had multiple massages and spa treatments in individual rooms, they were some of the best massages we have received! The property has 2 pools, one next to the gym which nobody uses and the main pool at the edge, it was ok and didn't have any life.
All meals are served in the main dining room. Breakfast service was delicious and fast. Dinner (La Voile) was good, our party liked the main dishes but the side accompaniments were meh. Room service, especially the caesar salad w chicken & prawns, became our favorite lunch. The Japanois rooftop restaurant offers decent sushi and plenty of wine options. Unfortunately, La Reserve's beach club didn't carry the same standard of food or service (will review separately). The hotel offers a shuttle to St Tropez but having a rental car aided in exploring other towns and the area.
Comfortable and luxurious
The hotel sits at the top of the hill and offers some breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The rooms are modern and spacious, the quality of the pillows, linens, towels and other amenities is very good. Rooms are serviced twice a day and the cleanliness of the property is excellent.
Service was very good and personalized for the most part and all requests were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
The restaurants in the property were excellent. The service and overall feel of the Beach Club though were a bit disappointing.
Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone going to the region.
Lovely property in the surrounding of Saint-Tropez
Very happy with my 4 days stay at La Reserve Ramatuelle. Indeed I do appreciate very much the atmosphere at La Reserve (I visited also La Reserve Geneva last year), relaxed and not show off as in other places. The service is also at the top, especially the concierges who took care of every details for all of our activities during the stay.
Very beautiful estate overlooking the bay and Cap Camarat on the left. I booked a junior suite which is spacious, with a large terrace. Gorgeous sea view when I wake up each morning.
Exquisite dinner at restaurant La Voile, which ranks among the top places in the list of fine dining restaurants in the area.
Spa installation is nice and spa treatments are also very good.
Did not have time to enjoy the pool and pool service, due to lack of time.
Definitely a place to stay if you plan to visit the French Riviera.
Will never stay here again!!! Absolutely never again
Arrived at the hotel for a 3 night stay. 1900 euros per night room rate.
22-25 July 2021
Amex confirmed an early check-in at 10:00 which I especially asked since my wife is pregnant and has to lie down after standing too long.
This was completely overlooked by the hotel so we had to wait until 12:45 to get into the room. We needed to go to a birthday party at 13:00!!!
What followed was a bunch of excuses and lies you can’t imagine.
First was that the previous client had
not checked out.
Client had checked out at 8:30 because no client had checked out since we were in the lobby all this time…
Then they said it would take until 12:00 to get the room ready. Ok so to kill the time we took breakfast in the mean time.
Then some guy from reception came ond told us while we just sat down at breakfast that we had to pay extra for this breakfast because we checked in early.
I said obviously I would pay for it! What question was that!
>>> But this immediatly sat the tone for us while all we wanted is 3 days of relaxation and good service.
Then it al started:
At 11:50 they came to us saying there now was a technical issue with the aircondition. I said to them: please deal with it later as we needed to go to that birthday party and we just wanted to change.
We had to ask again and again until 12:30 they said there was now a paint issue in the room. This pushed my wife over the limit and had to cry…
I again said to them can you please deal with it after we leave for the party at 13:00
Somehow they really only wanted to delay our entry into the room at which point my wife became very displeased and told them she really needed to lie down since being all this time waiting.
Then they told us we would need to move rooms the next day at which point the whole discussion got really heated and the rooms director blackmailed us in front of the room;
« you must now confirm that you will move rooms tomorrow otherwise I will not let you into this room »
This was already 12:45. I asked them: is this
blackmail because I sure don’t like this and these are not my values. My wife had to confirm this 3 times that we had to move the next day at 12:00 and then wait again until 16:00 to get a new room until we were able to get into the room.
Then the bell boy was actually laughing with my wife because the door accidentally fell against her when moving inside at which my wife said; is this the kinda service we are to expect from this hotel?? He laughed some more at which point for me there was no way back and the next day we would check out.
I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone after this terrible experience. This will happen again with a mentallity like this.
Asked the general manager to call me on numerous occasion to his staff. ‘Never got a call’
La Reserve is simply WOW!
My wife and I stayed here for several days to celebrate our Anniversary, before moving on to Antibes. We have stayed in St. Tropez before at other resorts. I highly recommend La Reserve for many reasons. The staff is simply exceptional in every respect, the various concierge individuals we worked with go above and beyond to arrange whatever you need and the food and rooms are outstanding. The workout facility is large and well equipped, the spa is beautiful and peaceful, with its own resting pool and meditation area and the complimentary shuttle service was invaluable. The view from the lobby and two restaurants on this property is literally unparalleled as well. It allows you to have a cappuccino or before dinner drinks and feel like you are in heaven. This is truly a world class property yet, at the same time, very small and personal. The Gold Coast has many fine properties to stay at, you can’t go wrong with some of them, however we will always return to La Reserve when in St. Tropez. We felt like family and were continually amazed at the thoughtful attention to detail the entire operation exhibits.
Be the first to Replyvery good luxury option for the area
This is what it advertises itself to be. Ramatuelle is more relaxed with more space that Saint Tropez. It’s maybe a 15 minute drive if you want to be in Saint Tropez (which is small), less to the beach. Service is excellent. Rooms are on smaller side (we had a junior suite) but work well. Views are nice. If this hotel were elsewhere it would feel very expensive for what it is, but here it feels like the cost of doing business. I’ll write a separate review for La Voile, but our quick take was that the setting was amazing. The food felt uninspired but perfectly executed. The sommelier was terrific.
