La Petite Grocery New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
We left the restaurant with mixed feelings.
We ordered 3 items: a salad, an app, and an entree. Of those items, one hit the mark, the other was barely edible, and the last left a taste so bad it lingered for some time. Blue Crab Beignet: delicious. Perfect ratio of crab meat/cheese and a great aoli sauce. My only criticism would be a slight bitter after-taste from the beer batter. Salad: $22 for barely a quarter of a tomato is ridiculous. The sauce/crab dip that came with it was inedible and left a dishrag/wet mop flavor. STAY away from the Turtle Bolognese. The red-sauce itself was great, but the taste we got from the actual protein was, in no better words, disgusting. It was the sort of earthy/swampy flavor that I couldn't forget. The moment I tasted it, I stopped eating altogether. This wasn't a restaurant we'd expect from a James Beard award finalist. The menu is certainly ambitious but sadly falls extremely short. Great restaurant, but I wouldn't eat here again (or recommend it to anyone) Edit: we did have a conversation with the management and they accepted our feedback gracefully. Apparently turtle was a new item on their menu.

I was just reminded the "other" dish I could not recall was the Alligator Bolognese. The pasta tasted housemade, it was delicious!
I was in town for a conference and went for dinner on
I was in town for a conference and went for dinner on Tuesday night. The service was excellent. The ambiance was as well. I was excited since we had never been to La Petite Grocery before despite having visited New Orleans many, many times, and often just for the purpose of trying new restaurants. I had hanger steak frites. I ordered medium and should have revised when I described the color and the server suggested maybe I should try medium well. The steak was much closer to rare than medium... no problem, I'd switch with my husband since he loves very pink /bloody steak. The cook would have been okay for him but the steak had NO seasoning. It was like the chef forgot to add salt! It was like chewing (and chewing and chewing) on a piece of rubber. On the other hand, he ordered pork tenderloin and it was *much* too salty. It also was prepared with country ham so salt could have been lessened... ultimately it was difficult to eat for the opposite reason. We were so incredibly disappointed having finally made the decision to go there. I should have returned my steak. Instead we requested a salt shaker and suffered through.
A wonderful culinary experience.
Attentive staff and high quality foods. Knowledgeable about food allergies and suggested cocktails to pair with the meal.

A wonderful taste of New Orleans! Had the crab beignets, shrimp and grits and butterscotch pudding. First two courses were accompanied by a glass of Veltliner, and the latter with a cappuccino.
Exceeded our already high expectations
Blue crab beignets were beyond the praise we had read about them. Other highlights were the pan roasted chicken breast with gnocchi and the shrimp and grits. For dessert, the peach tart with cardamom ice cream were exquisite. The loveliest element, though, was our server, Lucy. Her knowledge and personality were the crowning elements to the evening.
Amazingly consistent after many years of going.
Great service, always love weekend brunch.
I had another great meal at La Petite Grocery.
I have been to La Petite on numerous occasions over the years. I've never had a disappointing meal, and my most recent visit was no exception. We came to celebrate my wife's birthday, which happened to be on the night of the Magazine Street Champagne Stroll, one of our favorite events. Magazine Street was bustling and festive and full of laughter and good times. We visited a few boutiques before arriving La Petite. We were greeted at the door with a friendly smile and then shown to a beautiful two-top in the front window. The location could not have been better for witnessing the festivities outside. We ordered cocktails then alternately sipped and watched the world go by. After studying the menu and after much anguish over which of the many interesting looking dishes to order, we made our choices. My wife chose the ricotta dumplings as an appetizer, and I had the pork belly. Both were outstanding, but I preferred the pork belly. It was an unbelievably creative dish full of contrasting yet complementary flavors, textures, and temperature. For entrees, my wife ordered the alligator Bolognese with a fried soft boiled egg which she enjoyed thoroughly. I selected the paneed rabbit with sauce Grenobloise. Again, both dishes were executed to perfection although I enjoyed my rabbit a little better. The wine selections were reasonably priced and delicious. Our waitress was outstanding, fabulous, and very helpful. I can't wait for my next visit. PS The prices that appear in the photos are way wrong. Look for a current menu online.
We've been meaning to try Le Petit Grocery our last several
We've been meaning to try Le Petit Grocery our last several trips to NOLA. I'll have to say I was a bit disappointed. Great setting, good (but not great) food and service, - and we felt rushed, as if they wanted to turn the table more than giving a great dining experience. Honestly have had much better meals within a block or two of LPG. Doubt we'll go back again.
We come here often and love the food but had an awful
We come here often and love the food but had an awful experience this past Saturday. We were seated at 9:15 and immediately ordered drinks and food. The waitress never checked in and finally we just had to wait by the kitchen and ask for the check as it was 10:45. There was no apology or attempt to make it right. 90 mins to turn out a burger and pasta is unacceptable. We had friends in town and they were excited to eat here but will be going elsewhere next time. Never a good look if a table has to get up and track down a server I would come for lunch maybe? They struggle with service but have good food.
Laissez les bons temps rouler! My wife & I kicked off our
Laissez les bons temps rouler! My wife & I kicked off our New Orleans vacation with dinner at La Petite Grocery. La Petite Grocery is a French restaurant located on Magazine St. The restaurant boasts many high accolades including the 2016 James Beard Award for Best Chef: South. We started with the Blue Crab Beignets with malt vinegar aïoli. Crab + beignets = an irresistible choice! Trust me, they're as delicious as they sound. The savory & succulent crab beignets melt in your mouth while the malt vinegar aioli enhances an already perfect dish. We then tried the Alligator Bolognese featuring tagliatelle, sherry, parsley & a fried soft boiled egg. The alligator was mild, but not "lost in the sauce" literally. I found the sauce to be robust with an adequate level of spice. I'm nearly certain the tagliatelle pasta was made in house. The fried soft boiled egg added a velvety lusciousness to the bold sauce which created a harmonious balance. A beautifully executed dish. The Panéed Rabbit featuring spaetzle, wilted greens, turnip puree & sauce grenobloise was quite the treat. The rabbit was prepared perfectly. It was lightly fried & delicate. Sauce grenobloise is a French sauce made with butter, lemon & capers & is usually served with fish. However, it paired superbly with the slightly gamey rabbit. This dish also featured the correct amount of fresh sautéed garlic. Dinner at La Petite Grocery is going to be exceptionally hard to beat! Service was as good as it gets. They have an impressive wine selection & an exciting cocktail menu. The ambience is charming & sophisticated, but not stuffy. I felt immensely relaxed in this more than century-old building in The Big Easy. I cannot recommend this place enough next time you're in town.
Delicious and creative food
Excellent restaurant with friendly staff. Service was very good, food yummy and chef used local, fresh ingredients in a more healthful way. Something for everyone at this cute corner store turned restaurant.
Wonderful Experience - Delicious Food
Excellent service. Beautiful room. Amazing food. For appetizers loved the ricotta dumplings, crab beignets and steak tartare. Entree the Gulf shrimp and grits delcious. Save the best for last the butterscotch pudding was incredible. Dinner for two with a $90 wine bottle, came in at $340 w/tax & tip.
Excellent Meal in New Orleans!
This was one of our favorite meals in New Orleans. The wait staff was really nice, and our entree was excellent. We’d recommend it!
Best in New Orleans, and that's saying something
I'd heard that La Petite Grocery was top tier, but this was my first time there. I was told to get the rabbit, but we were there for brunch - next time. What a magnificent meal. Everything on the menu is elevated to the finest quality and edited to be an impactful plate. Everyone has the crab beignets, apparently. They're really good, but the boudin hash was even better. Oysters Benedict moved into the #1 position on my "best of" list. As an oyster aficionado, I always sample what's offered. This is an exemplary fried oyster. The dish is a master class of the benedict genre, crowned with fried bivalves that I will remember fondly for years to come. Ryan is a fun, cheerful guy. Helpful without any condescension. Obviously adores his job and the restaurant. What an ambassador for your kitchen.
Great Menu and Food
We dined here while visiting NOLA. We had been referred here by friends. Small and intimate setting. It's NOT walking distance from downtown where we stayed. Great menu. Reasonable corkage. Wine/drink list good. Variety of menu offerings including locally styled cuisine. Our server was very good but had a strangely flat affect. It did not seem to affect her performance. Overall this place was busy with locals - must be consistently good.
Great restaurant on Magazine Street
For everyone, this was our best meal in New Orleans. The restaurant is beautiful. We started with the blue crab beignets, that were excellent. For our meals, we had a combination of the burger, roasted chicken, and shrimp and grits. All were great.
Great charm
What a fantastic experience in cuisine and friendly atmosphere. My wife and I booked for a 5:30 pm sitting and had the fortune to be able to sit at the bar, listening and watching the great cocktail waiters do their business. We ordered the fish stew and shrimp on grits plates paired with some orange wine. The taste was exceptional and left us feeling good about our choice for dinner. The atmosphere of this restaurant is second to none, it has a genuine feel of Southern hospitality and charm. I do not think you’ll be disappointed.
Excellent food but somewhat noisy
This is a small restaurant located away from the center of New Orleans. It is a restaurant converted from my old grocery store. It had 10 ceilings and wood floors. We had to ask for a quiet table and receded next to the bar and the window overlooking the street. The service is lovely. However, it must have been very full because we had to wait a long time for the main course to be served. The roasted broccoli is quite spicy. I had the roasted T-Bone Lamb chop which was done medium rare to my satisfaction. Butterscotch pudding for dessert. Quite unusual and delicious. Overall it was a very satisfying evening with nice ambience and very good food

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
