The next big thing?
Delicious Philippine specialties at bargain prices. Pho hit the big time. Peruvian food became a goody favorite. Time for the Philippines' turn? Worth seeking out!
Be the first to ReplyWe're impressed this time, but....
Having skipped breakfast, we were hungry when we reached this restaurant at 11:45 a.m. We ordered Lechon Kawaii Combo that was served with Fried Egg and Rice, Pickled Papaya Salad plus slices of Lechon. We also ordered Pancit Noodles that were served with slices of sausage, chicken and shrimps. Also ordered were 2 empanadas and 1 side order of Sausage. Total of our foods and drinks was about $60.00 plus tip. For desserts, we bought Sticky Rice, a slice of Pandan Cake, and a slice of Mango Cake. We took home our leftover foods and had them for dinner. CONCLUSIONS: Pancit has lots of garnish this time: shrimps, sausage, chicken and some cabbage. Desserts - we gave them a score of 5. Note that these desserts do not have price stickers so be sure to ask for their prices to avoid being surprised! Empanadas - we did not like them, tasted more like those of Central America. They are soggy inside and spicy. Meats of the Langonisa are different from a typical one from the Pinas - appeared to have been grounded too much.

My wife and I dined in on a Saturday afternoon. Never had Pilipino cuisine before so we felt adventurous. The pork was delicious. Mild seasonings but super juicy and tender. Highly recommend.

This Filipino restaurant is in Rockville, MD. The lechon and sisig are good. The arroz caldo will take you back to Manila. The tortang talong is done a little bit over the top for me and it takes away the real flavor of the original tortang talong. The staff are always great. The place can get cramped at times.

Waiting for a long time to get a table but was happy to as was looking forward to the food. All the waiter /waitresses were very nice. After an hour we query where our food was and no one seem to know. After then making a point we finally got the arrival of 3 dishes. Sadly one was cold mention this to the head person and he seem to get annoyed with us and the situation. They did not handy this very well just need to sort the issues out but just made it worse dish come back and had no taste should have cancel it but was hoping for the best. Liked this place if all goes well then it will be great but I’d you have any issues they have no experience to deal with it at all.

Excellent Filipino food in a casual setting. This is my second time here- lumpia very tasty and large portion. Sisig-Rito a fun twist on two favorites. Save room for dessert or take it home.
Be the first to ReplyDISAPPOINTED THIS TIME!
I stopped here to buy our take-out dinner for tonight: Pancit Gisado and Lechon Kawali Combination Platter. Noted very few garnishments for the pancit such as 8 pieces of tiny shrimps, some slices of chicken and sausage. Cost is $13.99 for the small serving of this noodle dish. This dish can be easily ordered from any Chinese restaurants for cheaper prices and bigger servings.
Also disappointed with the Lechon Kawali dish: 8 pieces of meats that were dipped in sauce and not crunchy, some rice and some pickled thin slices of papaya and carrots. Cost is $13.99 as well. This dish can be easily ordered from another Filipino Restaurant located in Rockville for $9.99 and bigger servings of delicious, crunchy lechon kawaii.
Was surprised to see a container with Leche Flan (dessert) inside our take-out bag. It was included FREE with our order!
Will continue to order foods here but NOT these dishes! Hopefully, we shall NOT be disappointed again when we order their other dishes.
Great walk up counter meal
First time here and I would definitely like to go back. It’s my first time eating this type of food and I really loved the meal. Can’t wait to try it again
Be the first to ReplyWheelchair Accessible with One Hiccup
The parking lot has two handicap spots adjacent to the restaurant. Once inside you will see movable chairs and tables. However, this is more of a fast food place than a restaurant so it is a little tight.
The one hiccup is going back towards the accessible restrooms as there are tables along the wall so you may need to ask people to move so you can pass. Otherwise, the two one-room restrooms are accessible with grab bars.
The food was served on little cookie sheets which I thought was quite unique. You must like pork because most of the meals come from the many parts of the pig including his brain.
We all ordered different entrees and enjoyed them. The service is quick and the staff is welcoming. So if you need help filling your glass or getting napkins, they will help you. The food is delivered to your table. They do take out orders. Plus they have an ample supply of bakery items to eat there or take home.
OMG.. so this is what its all about... and I like it.... Pork Belly:)
Kuya Ja? Lechon Belly?..... WHAT?. ......you might say what the heck is this . Man... its alittle expensive I thought for one dish but.....Well, it won't take long for you to figure it out when you order this stuff.... Get the pork belly platter with the white rice and all of the sauces.... I thought it was tremendous... very crispy skin.. very delicious meat.... now I know why Tom Sistema (restaurant critic) put this into his top picks for new places. We loved it ... You must try the wings too... we are definitely going back very shortly to try other dishes plus another Pork Belly platter. It was great.. very busy hole in the wall joint with no tables available.. like fast food joint lol... I guess that tells us something doesn't it? Go now ... go soon... It was a fun place to visit and very a la casual!
Be the first to ReplyOUTSTANDING GEM!!!
I've been meaning to try Kuya Ja's ever since they were over on Nebel Street but they were only open on weekends. Finally got around to trying their restaurant and I'm super glad I did. It's become one of my new favorites here in Rockville, MD. Heck..........it's worth the drive if you're in DC or NoVA. Their Lechon Belly Platter is FANTASTIC!! Scumptious!! (Hint.......swap out the white rice to Garlic Rice). I tried the Lechon Belly sandwich but it's much better as the platter. I've taken a couple of co-workers and they also really liked it. Not your fine dining but it's easy to see why Tom Seitsema (Washington Post) rates this place so high on his Top 10. Hurry on over and I'll guarantee you'll be back again and again. I know I have and will continue!!
Be the first to ReplyOption B for my lunch on June 12, 2019!
Invited by friends to dine at the newly opened Korean Grill restaurant, I drove to Rockville, Maryland to join them. In my haste, I forgot to "Google map" the address as well as the name of this restaurant! I kept driving to various shopping areas along Nicholson Drive and was unable to locate this new restaurant. None of my friends called me back for directions so I decided to drive back home.
I saw this restaurant on my way home and decided to stop here. Feeling hungry, I ordered the Pancit Bihon/Noodle dish and siopao for take out. There was about 10-minute wait for my foods to be ready. The noodles cost $12.95.
I ate some of the noodles inside my car at the Parking lot. There were lots of ingredients in the dish such as shrimps, slices of chicken, sausage, squids, etc. Very delicious and well-seasoned. Finished them as soon as I reach home!
They also sell different kinds of Filipino desserts, pastries, etc. I'll come back and dine in next time here!
Good lunch
Very good food, but quite small, so seating is tight, even for an early lunch. Our son had the Chori-Burger, which my wife & I really liked, and we split the veggie and the pork & shrimp lumpias, which were also very good. We would return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Filipino food
We was looking for a good Filipino spot to eat at and it lead us to here. There food tastes just like the Philippines. Great place to grab food at.
