An unpleasant surprise
Read a few good reviews and expected - tasty, casual dining experience. The dishes ranged from an unpleasant soggy bhel puri to an inedible kerala chicken which was violently over-salted and had a strange sour taste. The chicken was served with a curry flavoured mayonnaise which is as appetising as it sounds. The cod was another highlight and consisted of a tasteless budget supermarket grilled cod dumped on to some baked beans. This experience cost £85 for two people (one cocktail + food) and was my worst dinner in London over the last few years. Inauthentic, low-quality and unhealthy.
Be the first to ReplyNice ambience, bland food
Nice ambience, but the food is very, very bland. It's catered to an entirely english palate and doesn't taste authentic in any way. Also hugely overpriced. Would recommend going elsewhere
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
The venue was lovely The kebabs, bhel puri, paratha, chicken naan were nice but disappointed with the taste of the hake, butternut squash and dhal . It was very bland. Tea was very sweet.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Superb!
What a warm welcome we receive every time we return to an exceptional restaurant. The cuisine is phenomenal and the service out of this world. Where do you go where they even remember that you prefer eating rice with a spoon - thank you Eldis, it makes such a difference! and takes the whole experience to another level. Recently they introduced tapioca papads - one of our favourites. A real tempting selection not found elsewhere. London finally got its version of mishti doi - Kricket’s Bhapa doi. Sublime! Looking forward to another meal tomorrow!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant
Amazing food and outstanding service. Food was tasty and flavourful and the potion size just enough for sharing. Will definitely be visiting again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location but food not even average, over-priced, stale and poor quality
Restaurant is in a superb setting and to be the fair the interior is pretty nice too. But that's where the good bits end. We had a table for three early Saturday evening and the restaurant was really quite. The menu offers simple choices but what you get is a far cry from the menu. The Keralan fried chicken was shocking. It was dry, shrivelled and tasteless and I've had better chicken at KFC. The lamb dish was also poor and just swimming in too much sauce to try and hide the poor quality of what was underneath. And well the croquets....not sure what to say on these apart from they seemed like they were prepared weeks ago and then stuck in microwave. The only good things was a couple of bread options which seems relatively fresh compared to everything else. It's a shame, it's a good concept, in a great location and staff were pleasant but unless I get sense that things have improved dramatically on food preparation and quality, I can't see me ever going back.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced and cold dishes
Ridiculously expensive for the food we ordered. Lamb dish was cold and tough so give that a miss. Butternut masala cold too. I can’t recommend as it’s over priced and not good value
Be the first to ReplyPathetic food for eye-watering prices
Very expensive for very average food and pathetic portions. The waiters are very push to get as many dishes as possible. We were a table of 8 and the waiter was very sketchy with the bill and how it was supposed to be split. I live in the building where the restaurant is located, but will never again dine with them.
Be the first to Reply5 stars for Service only. Food was lacklustre. No healthy options. No Flavour (1 star)
Service from the team was excellent. George in the bar made some great cocktails. ! Great selection of spirits Serving team were very polite Menu was limited - no issues about that Tried the samphire dish - fried - no taste the bhel puri - i have had far better and felt stodgy the fried chicken - was palatable nothing to shout about the tarka daal - was better than above - it mad more flavour than any of the above dishes no healthy options. no salads. alot of carbs and fried food food really was bland and lacked flavour would i go back ? only for the cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyGormet, with an inventive menu
Delightful Anglo-Indian fusion, with a varied, inventive menu. Masterful balance of flavour. I had a (now-gone from the menu) rabbit kebab - to die for. Set in a thin sauce of mustard wearing a new persona of immutable flavour, the gamey shish kebab both celebrated and outshone British and Indian presentations of meat.
Be the first to ReplyDecent fancyish vibes if you're in the area
The decor is lovely, staff is nice enough and they have nice drinks, unfortunately the food just isn't as good as it is hyped up to be. Everything is overly salted and sugared - for posh Indian there are many better options in London, though perhaps not many in the area. Expensive for what you get.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful experience
Wonderful experience at the White City Kricket branch which in my opinion is the best branch now. Lovely proper seating at this branch unlike the soho branch which has shared benches making it difficult to get in and out with strangers next to you. Food was superb as per usual with Kricket. This time we had the quail, the pork neck curry, and the lamb ribs. All perfectly executed. Would most definitely come back again! Highly recommend the baked custard for dessert too!
Be the first to ReplyFun place for dinner
This was our first time here and it was good to share it with friends as this is what the menu is made for. Some of the dishes were unknown to us so we very much relied on our knowledgeable waiter who advised on a mix of veggie and meat dishes for sharing, In the end, I reckon we ordered practically the whole menu between us, some dishes more successful than others. Average = whole sole which really didn't take to Indian flavours; spring vegetable - eye wateringly over garliced and a strange tomato dish. Best = fried chicken, lamb ribs, the kulchas and dahl. All this worked out at about £60 per head including beer and wine. I'm not sure I'd go again as the menu is fairly limited so we'd have the same choices but I might try the central London Kricket if it has a different or expanded menu.
Be the first to ReplyLively atmosphere but thats it
This is a case of the emperor's new clothes as the food just doesn't live up to the hype. I don't understand where £180 for two people actually went. I'm a vegetarian and the sweet dishes they gave to me really didn't make me feel like I'm in a high-end restaurant chain. Also coupled with sitting on high stools, or the 'chefs table'?! didn't help.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous meal with a great atmosphere
Kricket serves wonderful meals with generous portions (which is a rare find in London at nice places). Love their service, atmosphere and quality food. Nothing is greasy or sloppy. Loved the fried chicken and the paneer along - the vibe was lovely with good lighting (which sounds peculiar but a relaxed date night or with some pals, this is perfect, gaudy settings are the pits). Non pretentious place too which I really love while not compromising on the food and you are not paying extortionate London prices for a tiny plate. Everyone was really helpful, chatty and assisted us with the menu and what to choose. Outdoor area too for a beautiful evening - inside is cosy without being cramped. We had a fab time. Wine list can be improved but it's not a big deal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, atmosphere and good service.
I visited two branches of Kricket in the space of a few weeks, and was suitably enthused by the first - with work colleagues to the branch on Soho - that I persuaded my wife to come with me to the restaurant in White City. This one is considerably larger (and so perhaps less intimate) and I suspect has a more limited menu, but still offers a very enjoyable and interesting experience. I say interesting because the food is definitely not standard Indian restaurant fare, rather an interesting mix of tastes, texture and flavours. On both visits, there was definitely more to be had by choosing a selection of the 'sharer' plates than there was the mains, from bhel puri, a very tasty cold mango salad to malai tandoori paneer. Having said that about the mains, my wife chose the Keralan Fried Chicken, and enjoyed it hugely. Service here - as at Soho - was very friendly and helpful, with our waiter explaining the different dishes and at one stage cautioning that we might have order too much (we hadn't, but it was a nice touch). Has to be said, that this is not the most inexpensive of restaurants, but if does offer a great experience to which we will return.
Be the first to ReplyScammed on the drinks!
Came here for a quick meal food wasn’t bad service was decent. Asked for house white wine whatever was cheapest. Looked at the bill next morning. £78 for two bottles! They have wine for £26 a bottle I saw in the menu. Looked on line the wine is £10 so 4 x retail! What a horrible scam. Shame I wouldn’t go here again!

Hey I was a walk in a couple of days ago, wasn’t sure what to eat but Celeste was utterly amazing and recommended your chicken. Which I shall be returning for, please thank them and the chef!

Indian for Conoisseurs
This is the third and most substantial branch of modern Indian restaurant, which from its humble beginnings operating out of a metal container in an embryonic sort of Boxpark in Brixton it now has three permanent sites, ambitious plans for international expansion, and, of course, its own cookbook. Although the menu is currently somewhat pared down it means there’s very little on it whether from the vegetarian, fish or meat sections you wouldn’t want to choose. Lamb raan eventually triumphed if only because I had to google to discover it’s a sort of Indian version of roast lamb. Served in a huge ceramic bowl in a gravy it easily accommodated both the rice and dal I ordered on the side not to mention the raita to go on top. A glass of Kricket’s own IPA was a refreshing and frothing accompaniment. A caramel and coconut ice dessert made for a refreshing conclusion.
Be the first to ReplyMouth watering dishes……errrr
Pretty much nothing of what we had particularly stood out or was memorable. As I write this I have struggled to recall any mouthwatering dish I can recommend all I recall was brown oily and oversalted dishes. Was it the general ambience? That was nice and the extortionate price for what seems like a measly amount of food. That was particularly memorable.
As mentioned by other reviewers there are so many better places that are reasonably priced in the local area.
Service was good! Well done
Great ambience but food seriously lacking
The place looks the part. Great ambience, great staff. But very very average food, not piping hot and for that it seems overpriced. Fried chicken looked and tasted like something you can pick up from
Any fast food restaurant. Dishes lacked flavour and imagination. Were looked after by staff but wouldn’t return as there are much better places to get a good meal.
Indian with a difference
We went after catching a show at the TV studio nearby. An innovative take on Indian food which we all enjoyed. The idea was lots of small dishes to share and sample - which worked very well.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing lamb curry
We went here late after a show at the BBC studios in White City. We rushed in at about 10pm and luckily they were serving late night still. The drinks and food were amazing with service to match. We ordered a lot and enjoy it. The lamb curry was particularly delicious and I would totally get this again.

Had been looking forward to try this place for many months. Had seen Will Bowlby I think it is on TV and wanted to try the chicken dish. Lovely person greeting me and shown to what is maybe a little grandly called the chefs counter. It is a counter and looks over the chefs so it is what is says I suppose. Waitress come over and asks if I was waiting for someone. I wasn't as was on my own so slightly unprofessional there. She then came and asked water I wanted. I did, slightly rudely in retrospect, interupt and said I did not want water. I saw later it was unlimited for a pound and that pound went to good causes. She was very slightly off with me from there so maybe that was why. She was professional but slightly unfriendly from then on.
I ordered bel puri, mackerel, fried chicken and dhal. The chefs counter is below some strong air con. It was a good tempreture but very breezy. This cools the food very quickly and it was not hot to start with. Bel puri is cold as expected and so was the makeral. Maybe it was meant to be like that I don't know but suspect not. The dhal came out warm in places cold in others and with fans quickly became cold. The fried chicken was not so cripsy albeit was in places but again got cold very quickly. There are blowers are across the whole counter so moving would not have helped. The dhal was a bit salty for me and I like salt. I left 30 % of that and about 20% of the chicken as cold fried chicken is not nice. I don't look like someone who has ever left food on their plate once but was not asked if the food was OK. The plates where taken I paid and left. If I had been asked once what I thought I would have said but no one did hence this review.
.
For me the food was OK and I was really thinking it was going to be amazing with press the restaurant has had . Clearly not helped by food not hot to start with and being near the blowers.
Stylish but lacked heat 🙃 🇮🇳
Dishes were presented well however I was disappointed by the eggplant dish which was just very coconutty. The breads were tiny for £5 this was a rip off. Dishes were too small and left us feeling hungry. Okay service and nice open kitchen.
