Komodo Dallas Reviews from The Last Year
Honestly.
..a lot of hype and this was just ok. Pushy waiter that offered a lot of things we didn't want and then they disappeared at the end. Was expecting something amazing from Miami location.
The restaurant itself is beautiful.
Definitely lots of great photo ops. The staff is dedicated and handles a full house pretty well. We attended a birthday dinner. And though we knew it was expensive once we saw how small portions were we kept it light and had cocktails. The tacos are good but there's only two and they are tiny. The Surf N Turf rice was also good. The Lobster Dynamites were pretty good, however as I said before portions are small. Our waitress was nice however once we kept our ticket to a minimum the service declined a bit. Fast forward gratuity is included in your final bill, so this may be the cause to our waitress' demeanor switch. Overall if you wanna go for the experience do so. Valet is awesome. There is a DJ although I enjoyed the music it is loud. The Pretty Fly For A Cacti was nice but so much ice packed on top it gave sno cone vibes with little liquor My friends also loved the Lychee Martini & East Meets West
The worst dining experience for the amount of money spent.
Wait staff completely inattentive. Ordered signature dishes on the menu and no one even bothered to provide cutlery. And no one even bothered to check in about the quality of the meal for at least 20 minutes. The Peking duck looked like it had been cooked days ago. It wasn't even warm. The steak, ordered rare, came out medium. Again, the worst part of the experience is that the weight staff didn't even bother to check on or explain any of the dishes. It was like they walked by, plopped down, some food and decided to bring the bill later. And the bill was huge for some really incredibly mediocre service. And by using the word mediocre, I'm being complementary.

Our waiter Jared was amazing and your beverage manager made the experience top notch. Their customer service was impeccable. The food was 5-star! Would suggest your social media pages reflect the diversity of your patrons in the future.
Overall, disappointed in service, but good food.
We came for the "sushi masterclass" which was fun, but it was more of a nigiri class rather than making sushi rolls and what not. After the class, we got sat down for dinner and did not receive any service in a timely manner. It was fairly crowded from the class, and we did not receive water for around 15 minutes after being seated and it was from a help staff. Unsure if the table next to us were people who worked there or the owners, but they were visited by 4-5 different staff members multiple times before we even received our water. A waiter did not come to greet us for 30 minutes, but he was helpful when we finally spoke to him. The music was loud, but the ambiance was nice and a had a cool, lounge vibe.
It was a terrible experience.
We did a sushi class and it was a joke. The archive was terrible and food super marginal for the price
Lengthy Review Beware Decided to check this place out,
Lengthy Review Beware Decided to check this place out, with a group of ladies, for brunch. 2 star rating because of the food! Other than the food, I was highly disappointed with this restaurant staff to the point where I will never go back here (zero stars) - Waitress RUINED OUR EXPERIENCE!!! The atmosphere is quite welcoming. Decor was pleasant, place is spacious, you're not on top of each other, and booths are comfy. The music is waaayyy too loud. Another one of these restaurants . Not sure why the new fad is "extremely loud music" in these new restaurants but it's not everyone's cup of tea. This was my groups very first complaint. We had to yell at each other to talk and constantly had our server repeat herself because we couldn't hear her. Brunch is $65 - comes with one entree and buffet. My entree, I ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken was good, very well seasoned. Waffle was flavorful but too soft for my liking. Buffet had great options, from sushi, crab, fried rice, biscuits, croissants, fruit and more. I enjoyed everything I got from the buffet. So zero complaints on the food. Now - zero star rating explanation!!! Our waitress started out cool for the first 5 minutes with good suggestions. After that, we saw her every blue moon. Her excuse - I have other large parties to attend too. Ma'am, it doesn't matter if you have other large parties, you never let your tables go unattended for lengthy periods of time. If you can't handle it, ask for help - which most waiters are willing to do. This girl popped up every 30-45 minutes to check on us. So half our time at this restaurant was WAITING. A few of the ladies ordered the unlimited drink package for 2 hours. Ordered mimosa for first drink - she filled glasses with champagne only, brought no juice - took her 30 minutes to bring the juice after we had to flag someone else down to go get her. Probably got served 3 drinks in those 2 hours because she was a rare sight. We constantly had to flag other people down, even the manager started assisting with our table since we spotted someone with a suit walking the floor (which was manager). One of the ladies arrived late to brunch but knew exactly what she wanted to order. Took our scarce waitress 20 minutes to visit our table when our last party arrived, then another 45 minutes to bring out a noodle dish and 1 glass of champagne drink should have been brought out immediately ma'am. Rose was flat, had to send back. Espresso martini, I would not recommend. Then bill time comes - everyone's eyes are bucked at their receipts. This place is ridiculously expensive. My tab was $113 for the brunch and 1 drink (espresso martini, would not recommend). Then 3% service fee and 20% gratuity. Not worth this price in any type of way. It's ANNOYING and Highly SELFISH of these new restaurants to automatically charge 20% gratuity when the overall biggest complaint is the staff - who don't deserve it. Customer Service is EVERYTHING FYI!!!!!

Went in for brunch on Sunday, the staff was great very friendly and explained that there was a $65 charge for the brunch special. Great selection although some of the food that was suppose to be warm was a bit cold. Drinks were good the ambience was good for an early Sunday afternoon. TIP: double check your receipt for additional charges beyond the brunch charge. We had to get a correction on our ticket.

My experience at Komodo Dallas was nothing short of a disaster. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place has no respect for its patrons. Despite having made a reservation well in advance, we were left waiting at the entrance for a staggering 45 minutes. The environment was far from inviting; it felt more like a chaotic cafeteria than a restaurant. The seating arrangements were haphazard at best, with no clear indication of where one should go. We were left to wander aimlessly, trying to find a spot amidst the confusion. As for the service, it was abysmal. The staff seemed overwhelmed and indifferent to our plight. There was no attempt to communicate or apologize for the delay. It was as if they expected us to be grateful for the privilege of dining there. In the end, after nearly an hour of frustration and growing hunger, we decided to cut our losses and leave. Komodo Dallas managed to ruin what was supposed to be a special evening out. I would strongly advise anyone considering dining here to think twice. Save yourself the disappointment and find a place that actually values its customers.
Food was delicious.
Serving sizes could have been bigger but they were fine. Ambiance was super nice. We didn't want to have a boring date so the ambience definitely livened it up a bit. The service is what we will be returning for though! Zane was our server, and he gave us the best service we have ever had! He knew the menu inside and out, made sure there wasn't a dirty dish on our table at any time, made great recommendations, kept our drinks full always, and would even rearrange the food on the table to make sure the eaten portion was away from us while the food portion was closest to us for appetizers. Five stars. Will be back. Thanks Zane!!!

Celebrated my 41st birthday here and had a great time with my fiancé. We are grateful that we were able to be served despite not having a reservation. We were treated very well by our server Josiah. I love the decor and ambiance. The food was delicious. The drinks that I got were ok. We parked in the garage, which cost 7. I would go back and definitely recommend to check out this restaurant. Oh, and going to restroom is getting the VIP treatment. Don't forget your cash to tip.

Great after dinner spot! (Okay, you should come for dinner, but I did not se this place until after) it has a very cool Asian vibe!! SERVICE: The bartender was very nice and friendly and talked me into "after dinner" food. Thats a keeper!! FOOD: I had the soup dumplings and the rainbow roll.....very yummy and tasty!! If you are downtown near Deep Ellum or staying at the Kimpton....definitely give this place a try!!

Visiting Komodo was a great time, when you walk in, you're immediately immersed in Asian decor and the restaurant's above par hospitality. The experience you receive while dining is priceless. Several waiters ask how everything was, not a detail is overlooked, i kid you not. I had the Surf and Turf Maki for an appetizer, and it was delicious, with a great combo of acidity plus the umami wagyu. Then i had the ox tail chow fun, which was definitely not what I expected in a good way. Perfect portions of ox tail braised mixed throughout fresh flat pasta and veggies, with just the right amount of sauce. It had a little spice kick to it, too. Then i also had a cocktail called the Thai Mai Tai, and it was divine, they are definitely not selfish with the liquor. Overall, i enjoyed the experience and I would definitely go again!
My boyfriend and I signed up for the sushi making class.
First off, the class started late. Second, the first 10 minutes were with some guy advertising sake. I couldn't tell you. what he said about it because we were all in a space where only those in the front could see the instructor/hear anyone speaking. When I let the manager know that we couldn't hear anything (seriously, the set up is ridiculous), he joked that the sake guy could come repeat his presentation for us personally. No apologies or acknowledgement of the fact that they set this up horribly. After the sake guy finished, we gathered around a sushi chef and were instructed on how to "make" two rolls. This is the second sushi class I've taken in my life, and I can assure you that with this class you don't MAKE anything. They give you precut cucumber, pre-measured spicy tuna, rice and the roller and simply place everything on the seaweed then roll. There is not soy sauce or sesame seeds on all stations so you have to walk to other people's stations and walk back to yours with a spoonful of what you need. The Omakase doesn't start until almost. 2 hours after class. does, and requires you to go sit at a table and order, which is not true Omakase. All of this for only... $260. Save your money if you REALLY want to learn how to make sushi and either go to Sur le Table or YouTube. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE SUSHI. The class is only for people who want to take Instagram and Tiktok videos for likes. BEYOND disappointed. Total ripoff.
I've been to Komodo 4 times now.
Last night I had the unfortunate pleasure of being served by the brunette female bartender again. She doesn't have an ounce of hospitality in her. She doesn't check on you, you have to ask her to do everything, and she's constantly on her cell phone. She forgot to put in my spring roll appetizer and then tried to belittle me that I didn't understand how long things take to cook. The spring rolls were ordered first and my other appetizer and sushi rolls came out 20 minutes before I inquired about the spring rolls. Everyone makes mistakes but to make your customer feel stupid is not cool. The food is pretty good and the restaurant is beautiful. But the majority of the weight staff is pretty bad while they last night the bar back and another server were complaining about how they couldn't wait to leave. It's really tacky to behave this way in front of guests. I wished they could up their service because it has a lot of potential to do well..

Food was so good, definitely enjoyed my outing with the girls. Will definitely come back. Recommend for all ages. Picachu cups were so cute. Love it!!!
WHAT I ORDERED: Money Bag dumplings, Soup dumplings, Daring
WHAT I ORDERED: Money Bag dumplings, Soup dumplings, Daring Chicken Dan Dan, King Crab Lo Mein, Sizzling Black Pepper Beef, Ox Tail Chow Fun, Crispy Mala Potato, Surg & Turf Fried Rice, Fortunes Told Cocktail, Pikachu Cocktail PARKING: Paid Valet, Street Parking, Parking Ramp INSIDE: The entrance inside the restaurant is spacious and you can see the chefs through the glass windows. The décor was pretty and service was great. The bathrooms are down a long hallway. Would recommend coming here more so for the ambiance than the food. Also, would only go here for a celebration of some sorts. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The two cocktails I tried were tasty but nothing that truly stood out. As for the foods, the dishes I enjoyed were the King Crab Lo Mein, Sizzling Pepper Beef (tender), Surf & Turf Fried Rice. The dumplings were alright and the noodles in the Ox Tail Chow Fun were too al dente for my liking. While most of the food was good, considering the portion sizes and price point, it's overpriced in my eyes.

I dined on 2/2 which happened to be their re-opening night after having to shut down for a month due to broken pipes. I got food poisoning from my dinner. If I had to guess it was either the quail or the brussels. I reached out to the business via email but received no response. Potential diners, consider yourselves warned!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
