Excellent restaurant
Excellent restaurant, highly recommend it. We had the lamb chops and rib eye steak. Friendly waiter whose father’s family came from Louth, Ireland, where we are from.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful, delicious dining experience…
This incredibly beautiful restaurant was such a yummy treat but having Moises, at the bar, as our expert guide just took it over the top. His food and wine selections were just spot on and always served with his warm demeanor and fabulous smile. Kudos to the kitchen…every dish was made with care, seasoned perfectly and presented so beautifully. We will most certainly be back next time we are in town
Be the first to ReplyDon’t waste your time and money
One of the worst restaurants I have had the experience to visit. What a waste of time & money. Food is bland and standards need improving.. The manager, William, is arrogant and insincere .. he displays no authentic customer care skills and is rude. The staff are no better.. they talk behind customers backs as lack the courage to voice their concerns to you in person . How this establishment has a Michelin rating goes beyond my understanding as I have visited restaurants around the world offering such better food and service. I would rate this establishment as a 1 STAR for the decor only.

Do not touch this restaurant with a barge pole Food ok Service and manager (William) absolutely abysmal Including stomach upset which we are reporting to the food authorities Go at your own misjudgement 😔😔😔
Be the first to ReplyCharming room, excellent service, good food
We were seated at a lovely table in front of the fire. The room is charming and cozy. Our server was very attentive. Service was leisurely and we never felt rushed. Meals were food chocolate cake was great.
Be the first to ReplyOne of SF’s best
Went for a business lunch based on the reviews and lived up to its reputation. It is packed, so book ahead, but always a good sign when a place is packed. Started with the daily special, a sausage with cheese which had really nice flavors. I then had the petrale sole, which was great (and I’m not a big fish person). Very fresh fish, nice flavored sauce and the chef get rid of every bone. Some of the best fish I have had. Would love to go back.
Be the first to Replygreat experience on four different occasions
fabulous restaurant with great selection on menu, drink list and bar, and service/ ambience in the front room. this is our fourth time at this restaurant and it never disappoints. we continue to try different dishes on the menu and they continue to be wonderful. we have had the chili roasted shrimp, large beans, brussels sprouts, grilled artichoke as appetizers at different times, and kokkari and greek salads, and grilled whole fish and grilled halibut as mains, again at different times. there hasn't been a marginal dish that we were ever served. also the service is excellent: friendly and engaging in conversation but also unobtrusive. we will always go back to kokkari. my advice is to go early or late so you can get a table in the front room. otherwise you will be in one of the other areas which are larger and noisier. and if you're in the front you may see some recognizable figures dining at the lead table!
Be the first to ReplyBad Night for the Kitchen?
I hope that it was just a bad evening for the kitchen. I have been to Kokkari several times over the last 10 years and have always enjoyed their moussaka. Unfortunately this was not one of those times. The lamb/ beef layer was dry, there were no layers of eggplant, ( if there had been, they were cooked to oblivion,) and there was a 2 inch lump of cooked potato at the bottom of the dish. So disappointing. For $37 I expect better quality.

Beautiful ambiance, great food. Good service. Order a bunch of plates and share everything family style. Great flavors. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyJust not worth it
Was here for dinner with my family. The menu selection was adequate and the service was good. The restaurant is nice. The food was ok but nothing special for the price you are paying. Our bill for 5 people was $645 (tip included) for a plain average meal. Simply not worth it and would not recommend for these reasons

We dined here for lunch. Really nice restaurant. Great menu. Awesome service. Greek dishes. Wood fired ovens. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyVery good Greek restaurant
Very good food in this high end Greek restaurant. Staff is courteous and swift, the dining room is spacious and welcoming. My lamb chops were excellent and I certainly could have eaten more than the two that were served. Original dessert of ouzo flavored sorbet with cucumbers was delicious. Not cheap obviously.

The best Greek restaurant in San Francisco. I was interested in the dishes and drinks on the menu. Your manager was very polite in giving me a piece of advice on the signature dishes, starters, and desserts. Time to call it a day, and my final say is that you have a nice staff! thanks
Be the first to ReplyGreat Greek food!
We stopped in during a weekend girls trip and we’re looking for a quick late-night bite and glass of wine. We were pleasantly surprised to find an expansive yet warm and hospitable ambiance. The few plates we ordered were spot on! The flavors, the textures and the portions met all of our expectations! Also, great selection on the wine list—we’re super excited to find a Diamantakos xinomavro on the list!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food, Rude Staff.
I have always loved Kokkari. Had dinner at the bar 10/7/23. We like to dine at the bar for the interactive experience. The bar tender was cold, unattentive and borderline rude. For example: when we sat down he was making a drink that was beautiful and interesting to me. When I asked him what it was he told me the name of it with an accent that I didn’t understand. When I asked him to explain it In English, he slammed the cocktail menu in front of me and pointed to the drink. The server was also a bit cold but warned up after chatting with him. Food was excellent, as it always has been. Though a bit soured due to the staff experience.

Romantic restaurant with good service and excellent food. There were several whole lambs spinning in the fireplace that looked awesome, we went with a sea beam anyway and completely enjoyed it. A nice wine selection too.

Lovely lunch spot! The server and chef worked with my dietary restrictions and modified what I wanted! Service and staff were very friendly and food was delicious! I ordered the octopus app and the lamb entree. My dietary restrictions are allergies to gluten, dairy and eggs
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Greek Food!
This restaurant is beautiful, the food is superb and the service was great! The lamb chops were amazing and the baklava was the best I have ever tried!
Be the first to ReplyThe best restaurant in San Francisco. You will love this Mediterranean food!
The best restaurant in San Francisco. Mediterranean food in high class. Delicious appetisers, main courses to die for, and perfect dessert. Service was above any expectations. The flavours are unique and make it a one-time experience.
Be the first to ReplySo delicious.
This place one of our favorite in San Francisco area, the food had a perfect balance of texture and taste. The baklava wasn't as good as mine, but it wasn't bad. :) Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The service is courteous and professional. Great ambiance. So delicious.
Be the first to ReplyElegant and Excellent
Everything about this restaurant is superb - from the food to the solicitous service and the lovely room. Every time that I stood up, the waiter was there to reseat me, and when we drank a few sips of wine, the waiter refilled our glasses. We were at a bachelor's dinner and the menu was pre set. We started with excellent, tasty meses. The baklava was to die for.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Greek food
Great restaurant, the interiors are warm, love the wine wall especially. Welcoming and helpful staff. Unfortunately had crippling jet lag and really struggled to eat much food which was made so much worse by the fact that it was all so ridiculously delicious. The halloumi was my favourite, the sweet glaze was the perfect contrast to the salty cheese. Everything really was perfect so make sure you come very hungry so you can experience as much of the food as possible!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing birthday dinner experience
My husband took me here for my birthday. First impression was the packed in seating situation. At first they tried to seat us at a communal bench table. This felt weird since we were there to enjoy each others company for my birthday (we were hoping for something a little more romantic). When asked if they had any other tables the hostess was completely annoyed and seated us at a table that was basically a 4 top with another couple seated at the table (again wasn’t expecting communal seating at a nice restaurant). There was literally 2 inches between us and we could barely hear each other over their conversation. Every waiter and patron had to pass by our table to move about the restaurant (we were seated in the main isle) resulting in being bumped into the entire meal. At some point the situation was so awful it was comical, the cheap creaking wicker chairs just added to the comedy of it. My 2 star review comes from my meal (I had the salmon and lamb meatball appetizer) it was delicious but my husbands goat was full of bones and he wasn’t able to finish it. I’m assuming their michelin star was awarded when they first opened because I don’t think they’d earn it now.
Be the first to ReplyOur new go-to in SF
We have eaten in many Greek restaurants around the country and this one definitely ranks up there with our favorite, Kellari in NYC. The rustic but elegant atmosphere accompanies well crafted and prepared food. Our dinner experience started with a warm greeting and being seated promptly by a hostess . Our experienced and reserved server recommended an outstanding bottle of wine which accompanied our delicious appetizers and salad, We then shared a perfectly prepared Lavraki accompanied by the gigantes beans. We were so glad we found room for the scrumptious flourless chocalate cake and a bowl of yogurt. This is our new go-to restaurant in SF.
