Best Restaurant in the World- in our humble opinion
The overall experience is perfect. Relaxed elegance. Outstanding food and service. Great entertainment watching and communicating with the chefs over 4+ hours. It is extremely expensive but absolutely worth a visit for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplySimple magnificent evening
Last Friday we went down to this 2 star Michelin in central london. We knew we were in for a treat as Kitchen Table is more than just about the food, it’s about the experience from the moment you are welcomed into their lounge/bar., where all guests are wait, enjoy a cocktail or two, and where the first of our snacks are serviced. After taking our seat around the U shape table, the chefs and front of house begin their journey of serving up plate after plate of innovated and locally sourced produces, and amazing wines. We loved that throughout the evening, everyone interacts with you, making it an a dinning experience not to forget. Yes, this is at the higher end of the price point, but in our opinion, well worth it We will be back later is year.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful and somthing different
Never tried out the kitchen table concept before and I was fantastic. The stand out and favourite course for me was the squid / peanut / goan spice dish. Of course almost all of them we're incredible, which is what you'd expect from 2 stars, and of course there were strange pairs that work shockingly well. I never knew I wanted wagu + walnut until I did that evening. As for the format of the table, I found it a delight to pass the time watching all the chefs work away on the dishes, I've never done a chef's table before but I think I will in the future. It's a little cosy in the room, however the chairs are massive so you have enough space of your own, and the staff will always help you get comfy if you need to move adjust yourself a little. So again I'm usually used to big open restaurants but this is a little different, it's a bit like the theatre, packed but enough room, and it adds to the atmosphere. The best part above all of the whole meal was the soft parings drinks with the courses. This is the first time I've seen this, and a huge amount of effort was put into coming up with non-alcoholic parings to go with each dish. There was a dealcoholized red wine with the duck course and it could not have matched more perfectly. I think they'd added missing notes back in to round it off. There was also a rich barley drink that beginning that tasted so dense and rich. These were not some random soft drinks they’re found, the were expertly crafted. I could not recommend this place enough. The decor, the bustling but relaxed atmosphere, the care and quality, it’s exquisite fun.

Special Special restaurant. Just dive in and go! You will not regret it Teamwork makes the dreamwork!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely phenomenal
My husband and I had one of our most exciting and engaging dining experiences this week at Kitchen Table which takes the Chef’s Table concept to a new level. Within the beautifully intimate restaurant, friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable staff served up some of the most fantastically well thought out dishes we have ever eaten. The chefs take time to show everyone the fresh ingredients they will be using and explain the processes used to create certain elements of each dish. The personal touches and effort all of the staff go to engaging with each guest make this a truly special location. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience amazing food and a really entertaining evening out.
Be the first to ReplyA FABOULOUS EVENT
AMAZING the whole experience was truly FABOULOOUS. from the we starters and drinks in the lounge to the meal itself in the dinging room it was a truly amazing experience the food was DELICIOUS and we had the Champagne flight which made and brilliant meal absoululty FANTASTIC. the service was superb and the theatre excellent
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing. Overpriced and flavourless.
Just for balance, lets start with the positives: Lovely dining room and setting, really friend bartended who made some exceptional cocktails and was a general delight, cool wine cellar. The negatives: Incredibly expensive for what it was, I found the sommelier a bit disinterested and a complete lack of flavour in the majority of courses. There were a couple of highlights (BBQ lobster was excellent). But the food was broadly lacking in flavour, seasoning etc. I almost went home and tested for COVID. A spaghetti that seemed to be in a water sauce, cucumber from Matts farm (i challenge you to taste the difference between this and tesco cucumber), venison that had been improperly rendered. I could go on. I really don't know what Michelin are thinking giving this two stars, its barely on 1 star level (and that's being generous). Save your money and go to the plethora of other options in London.
Be the first to ReplyCompletely overpriced and not worth it!
o be completely honest and frank it was outrageously expensive for an evening which really wasn’t that worth the cost because a bill of 1200£ For 2 pax under no circumstances would make you feel like it was “worth it” for 1 meal. We feel like there were a lot of “hidden costs” and the restaurant hasn’t been upfront about charges in general. Firstly, the menu is priced at 250£ per person for food. However, at NO point nor anywhere on your website does it say what the menu is priced at. I think when we booked at resy it gave a range but that was it. There was no email either from KT stating this is the menu price. When I got the email of the wine pairing again I had to ask - what is the cost for the soft pairing / cake supplement etc. Basically if you don’t inquire it’s just blank emails being shot out. However the email sent by Sarah said the wine pairing you don’t need to book in advance only the soft pairing which we weren’t interested in. Even the cake that was provided and the truffle supplement - I had to ask how much these were which is quite awkward to do at a Michelin star restaurant and I cannot understand why it isn’t provided in the email / written down and provided to the client rather than them asking the questions. And to be completely Honest - 30£ for a SLICE of cake is outrageous. The cake really wasn’t worth that nor was it written happy anniversary anywhere like Sarah had said on email as I said it’s not for a bday but an anniversary. Then on the day..whilst the experience was nice like I said above definitely wasn’t worth 1200++ for 2 persons. The stools in the main restaurant are EXTREMELY uncomfortable to be sitting on for 3-4 + hours! I myself got off and had to “stretch my legs” 3 times and then it blocks the passage for others to exit and enter. I mean for the price you are paying surely a restaurant of KT’s calibre should have made this much more comfortable? It really felt like a pack of sardines in a small room. Very intimate and close to all other guests when you are there with your other half / your group. It isn’t an experience I am going on to get to know other guests… which I felt the way the seating was I was forced to do as I couldn’t sit in complete silence without interacting with someone sitting so close to me. We then get to the end of the evening (I think it was one of the last few courses) when Jim (I think?) was telling the wine pairing guests that there was a premium wine for one of the courses. So I asked Jim if we could have a glass to try. He gladly obliged. At no point we’re we bought a menu to show us the price for this and in our naivety we did think that even if there was a charge it would be minimal given not only the amount we are spending but also because we were celebrating an occasion that would be at least one thing that KT would be doing for us. Anyway, like I said before it is extremely weird and strange to at that point even ask saying “oh before you bring a glass, how much is it for” given we have NO idea that it would be £110 for one glass?! For one glass? I understand it is a premium wine but if the wine pairing cost was provided to us as £160 (again different to what our friends were told) how is it that 1 glass of that is 110 and the rest is 50£? Makes no sense even then. Like I said reading the reviews on Google / tripadvisor AnD our own friends telling us their experience of the “glass” was slightly different. Therefore I genuinely think not only will I definitely not be coming back to KT but it ruined our anniversary evening as well and I doubt I would be recommending KT to others too which is a shame because some of the courses were really really good and we were thinking we could come again till we got the bill. So this is really to tell KT that you should be upfront with your customers being a restaurant of such a high calibre. Because I truly truly feel cheated and misinformed. I informed KT management of this as well and they didn’t care or take any action.
Be the first to ReplyReal shame to write this review
It's such a shame to write this review but it's worth people noting the pitfalls of the new way they take your booking. The Kitchen Table has been my favorite restaurant in London for many years, I've been many times and have supported them through their early years. I had a table booked for this evening for 3 people at 6pm. Two things happened, one I misjudged the booking and thought I'd booked October, secondly my step father was taken ill and I wasn't able to make it at short notice. I know both these things are my fault but... £1,035 taken, they even wanted the service charge!!! No discount offered for a re-booking. I accept they have to cover themselves but that's greed of a whole different level. Anyone that can't offer a small solution to that mistake quite frankly shouldn't be in business. The foods good, the fella that owns the place is a nice bloke but this is just a joke, sadly another London restaurant that's got lost up it's own backside. Make sure you can 100% go on the night as there's no room to cancel.
Be the first to ReplyExceeded Expectations
I had high expectations, and Kitchen Table greatly exceeded them. The food here was fantastic - fresh, creative, and delicious. Chef James Knappett worked magic right before our very eyes. I loved the open kitchen concept and the theater-style seating. The service was also impeccable. Every staff member was incredibly gracious and welcoming. Best of all, the restaurant didn't feel stuffy at all. Contrary to what you might normally expect from a two Michelin starred restaurant, Chef Knappett playfully chastised me after I stirred one of my sauces two times after he had instructed us to stir just once. He then pointed to a tiny flower petal that was still on my plate and said "that's edible." I loved the playfulness and irreverence. The entire meal took 5 hours. So, prepare yourself for a marathon. But it's well worth it and I would highly recommend grabbing a seat at the Kitchen Table.
Be the first to ReplyVery poor value for what you pay
This was my second visit to the restaurant; after a renovation, they made the stools more comfortable. Unfortunately the restaurant did not represent any sense of value in the first or second visit. I have been to a total of 62 Michelin stars in 43 restaurants (ibout 30 restaurants being at 1 star and another 15 restaurants with 2 or 3 stars) across the UK and Europe. Kitchen table is far too expensive for the food that you get, even if the glassware is fancy. This is immensely exacerbated by the fact that, from July 2022, they are imposing a minimum £150 spend on drinks ON TOP OF the £300 on food. In short, they are forcing you, whether you like to on not, to go for the wine pairing or other drinks package. This goes against any customer-centred approach for those that don't want to drink more than a glass or frankly some water.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely glorious!
There's a reason you have to wait months to get a table, it is totally divine! The food is out of this world, the chefs are incredible, the sommeliers know their stuff and are just wonderful! The wine is very reasonably priced, not overpriced at all! It is an expensive dinner for us normal folk but I think it is well worth the money as a treat! I cannot wait to go back.... when we can get a table in another 6 months! Keeping an eye out for when James Knappett get his 3rd star! * * *
Be the first to ReplyAmazing amazing food and evening
Food simply incredible ... sitting round the kitchen it was wonderful theatre as well as breathtakingly good food. The work that goes into each of the 22 courses/dishes was incredible and no course/dish disappointed.
However, one thing left a very sour taste. During the meal we were asked if we wanted to have a glass of red (2006 Stellenbosch) to go with a particular course and we said yes. The bill came and they charged us £80/glass. Maybe my mistake for not asking, but if you are going to charge that amount for a glass of wine, then you should tell me ... ridiculous.
An amazing evening and while the food at £250/person is most definitely at the high end, it was worth every penny.
I cannot recommend an evening here enough, but beware of surreptitious practices with the wine!
Wow! Wow!
What an amazing experience. We got luck with a last minute reservation but you must book in advance. The service was excellent and the food was so delicious. A very unique and special evening out in London.
Be the first to ReplyImpressive indeed
Prob in my top five in London so far, this place definitely worth the two Michelin stars and I would say sits around the benchmark for that level of cooking. Lots of care and attention into every dish and every diner. The beef course possibly the best beef dish I've eaten.
I would say that for a 2* place we are starting to push the boundaries of acceptable pricing though - getting on for 3* cost wise.
Birthday meal at home!
We were trying to decide what to order in for my birthday and liked the look of Home by James Knappett selection of dishes, so this is what we went with. Delivery arrived am on Friday and we were not disappointed with our choices of food. It took us 2.5 hours to get through all the courses but was great fun and something you have to just get on with in our current climate. This is somewhere we would visit once this lockdown is over.
Be the first to ReplyKitchen Table ‘&Home’ Service was Lacking
I ordered the £250, 11 course tasting menu as a special ‘at home’ dining experience for my girlfriend’s lock-down birthday.
The box was beautiful, but inside the items were placed in a haphazard fashion and were numbered with marker-pen by hand. Deciphering the different ingredients for each dish was tricky because the handwriting was so bad and some labels had come off completely. When we did arrange each dish’s ingredients we found that fudge and ravioli were missing. Eliminating two dishes from the menu, and leaving us somewhat disappointed from the start. We replied to the restaurant’s email and received no response. Perhaps it’ll come today.
But it was a special day so we did our best to enjoy what food had been delivered.
Delivery takes place on Fridays only and our meal was scheduled for Saturday but no instructions were provided in relation to storage of the box - we transferred everything to the fridge just in case!
Firstly, the wine was excellent. A very delicate refreshing champagne that slips down too easily.
Parker-house rolls with truffle butter were very good, but we felt that they probably would have been better the day before. There’s no point baking everything fresh daily then only delivering on Fridays!
Crispy Chicken skin was interesting in flavour but hadn’t travelled particularly well and was partially crumbled. It was not possible to achieve the restaurant appearance in the photos. I found the bacon jam oddly under-seasoned but my girlfriend did not. The dish was enjoyable regardless.
Pumpkin soup wasn’t very special - a bland orange emulsion paint with little flavour. The croutons and sauce were good but I wouldn’t rush out for the dish again.
Scallops were big, fat and juicy. These were the star of the meal.
Mushroom Ravioli was missing so we ate the Parmesan sauce and truffles etc. with Tesco’s dried fusilli instead. We were left wondering whether the salty sauce was designed to enhance the flavour of some unknown delight. This dish is listed at £25 per head so we were left feeling robbed.
Brill en pappilotte was OK, but cooked unevenly possibly due to our oven. My portion was slightly under. The subtle flavour of the fish was overpowered by the leeks. My girlfriend said she enjoyed the dish but it wasn’t very good in my opinion.
I enjoyed the dish with pears, but my girlfriend found the combination of textures a little too strange and questioned the freshness.
The wild garlic sauce was a bright colour, but again the flavour, like the soup was lacking flavour and more like paint than food. These soups/sources need refinement in my opinion.
The Canelle’s were nice but not a patch on the freshly cooked ones from a coffee-shop I know, and the fudge was missing completely.
I had to do all the washing-up.
This could and should be better. The box needs to be delivered when you want it, not on Fridays. The dishes need to be properly labelled, sorted and subdivided into dishes to make it as easy as possible for the diner. Items should not be missing. Some dishes need rethinking, or repackaging for travel and storage. Storage instructions are required for the box. The price needs to take into account that the restaurant service is not being provided.
On the whole, problems aside, we had fun and that’s the main thing. But we could have had the same fun without disappointment at a much lower cost if we had gone elsewhere.
I won’t be ordering another box, and will probably stay away from the restaurant as a result of this experience. Sad-face!
A great experience
We placed our order over the weekend for a delivery at home last Friday. This is how this works during the C-19 crisis.
We are delighted with the dinner we had last Friday.
We quickly forgot a somewhat delayed delivery and had lots of fun preparing the succulent dishes which we enjoyed very much.
Really a great experience based on excellent quality ingredients and professional preparation.
This was very well packaged with clear recipes leading to great fun.
We felt our home was like a 2 star restaurant for one dinner.
We look forward to doing it again at home or at their place when they reopen
Fantastic!
Amazing dining experience. Very friendly staff on arrival and the whole experience is exceptional. We booked the "12 course tasting menu" but once counted, we realised we'd eaten 17 different courses! Every course is amazingly tasty and speaking to and watching the chefs in action is magnificent.
The only negative thing about the experience is the trick the staff play at the end of the night to make more money. We were told by the staff; "to round off the meal is a selection of tea or coffee" and then again "with a choice of aperitif". Little did we know that these were NOT included in the meal and we were charged for both!
Awesome culinary experience
We had a choice of 12 or 14 courses, the 14 was courses was around £200/head. You will need to book several weeks in advance as they only sit 20 people (around the kitchen table). To be able to watch the a dozen chefs cook and prepare 14 courses in front of you is an incredible experience. It’s got 2 Michelin stars, and both very well deserved. As you sit around the kitchen table (for 2-3 hours) the experience works best for couples.
Be the first to ReplyXmas Taster Menu
This is an amazing dinning experience, the layout is like watching the chefs on a stage! The food was top quality and the main man cane out and had a chat with us!
Be the first to ReplySerious fun
My first visit to Kitchen Table. You can't see the restaurant from the street, instead look for the bar Bubbledogs. Inside the bar and at the end of the room you find the entrance to Kitchen Table, which is also a "bar" with 20 seats around the open kitchen. From your seat at the counter you can watch the chefs working and have a chat with them.
There is only one menu (12 courses) with the option of upgrading to 14 courses. I chose the short menu with matching wines and added the optional shavings of white truffle to my main course.
I will just mention a few highlights from the menu, though everything was a delight: every (small) dish was cleverly constructed, and for me there were no disappointments at all. Chicken skin is - so I understand - a classic, while the bread serving is extraordinary: bread is soft and light as a feather, and the butter is based on beef fat and onions really adding to the flavours. A true delight indeed.
Also the trout served on top of a piece of toast was great: crispy bread, soft fish and both sweet and slightly sour "condiments". Turbot was served with a thin slice of foie gras on top, which was very delicious. From the selection of desserts my favorite was pear with a custard, celeriac, white chocolate and praline on top: sweet, crunchy and light - exactly like a dessert should be.
Wines were also very good, chosen by the sommelier, who knew exactly what he was doing! A gentleman with a vast knowledge and passion, and with a good sense of humor too.
After dinner espresso was served with a few sweets.
I sincerely liked this dining experience. First of all the food was on a top level, and every single dish had so many details both in terms of flavours and textures - extremely impressive. Furthermore I liked the ambience: quite intimate and a good interaction with the chefs, who all took part of presenting the dishes. I really understand why this restaurant within just a few years has become one of the few two-starred restaurants in London. Thank you to all of the staff for making it a great evening.
