Amazing hand rolls but sometimes a very long wait! Don't hesitate to go this spot is amazing! Energetic and lovely ambiance!
Be the first to ReplyA gem for sushi handrolls served at bar seats.
Minimalist, yet welcoming decor for a casual dining experience where you can watch chefs craft each handroll so that you can eat them freshly made. The menu is short, but greatly focuses on quality and freshness. Each handroll has perfectly seasoned rice and nori is crisp as they make it when you're ready to eat the next one, never before. The eel handroll is my favorite. What sets Kazunori apart in NYC is not just the food, but its value. Pricing is reasonable, especially considering the high quality ingredients and the price includes tips. Service is very efficient; they are friendly and fast to ensure an enjoyable meal. Definitely a must visit in NYC
Be the first to ReplyKazuNori has stayed consistent with their quality after all
KazuNori has stayed consistent with their quality after all these years and continues to be one of my favorite places! They do not take reservations so you can expect to wait at busy meal times. It is all counter seating and a good spot for a quick meal. Recently I got the 6 hand roll set which consisted of Toro Hand Roll, Yellowtail Hand Roll, Salmon Hand Roll, Bay Scallop Hand Roll, Crab Hand Roll, and Lobster Hand Roll and they are all delicious! They make it on the spot so the seaweed is crisp, and the fish is fresh and nicely flavored.

Came here on a Tuesday for a quick dinner since it's been on a list of places to check out. Arrived around 7:30 and there was a line going out the door. The wait itself wasn't horrible, probably waited 20 min on line. It helped that the weather wasn't bad. While on line someone came out and informed us that we were limited to one piece of salmon and that cucumbers were out. Interesting that they ran out of ingredients during peak dinner.. regardless, I still stayed for dinner since there were many other options. Once you get to the front of the line you fill out a form on what you want. I got the four piece set which had one of the pieces swapped out because they were out. Seating was all on high stools, something to keep in mind if you're with someone who can't sit on one of these chairs. Food itself was pretty good, fresh ingredients and the rice was warm, soft with just the right amount of stickiness. I like how you can choose to eat just enough for your budget or if you wanted something not too filling for a snack. I do wish that there were more garnishes inside the hand roll, but that might just be a personal preference since I feel like garnishes make each bite a little.more interesting. Overall I'm glad I got this crossed off my list but there are so many other similar places in NYC to check out.
Be the first to ReplyFood is great.
You can get 4 hands rolls for a little over $20 and tipping is included in the total price you pay. Only thing is there's usually a long wait outside and no reservations.

WE LOVE KAZUNORI!!! Sometimes there is a wait, but it's worth it. They are quick and have a small, but delicious menu. Everything we've tried is delicious. We went 2x in one NYC trip because it's that good. The sushi rice and seaweed is very fresh. My faves are the eel hand roll, scallop hand roll, and cucumber hand roll. The staff is wonderful and friendly. We love it here!!!

The service here is pretty good, they don't do tips at this location. The line can get long but I'd say move pretty quickly. Ideally for two people per party just the way that it's all bar seating. The rolls come out quick and the service is short and sweet. The hand rolls were yummy I would probably come again but maybe try the to go box. The fish was fresh, the hand roll is easy to eat because they don't press the rice down (not overdoing the rice). For the hamachi roll they had chopped up scallion which made it really tasty. The ambiance is pretty dark. The sushi chef is attentive and times making the roll with how fast you're eating.

KazuNori was a great experience! I came to grab dinner with a friend on a Monday night. I arrived at 6:30 PM and the line was still inside the building, but the line was quickly getting longer around 7 PM. You come in, mark what you want on the menu, and hand your menu over when seated. You'll be seated at a bar area and can watch them make the hand rolls! This place also seems good for solo diners and travelers! Small note: they have hooks along the wall for jackets/coats and small hooks underneath the bar for bags. I ordered the preset menu of 4 hand rolls and it was a perfect amount for me! The chefs keep an eye on you and make your next one as you finish up the current roll. It's a great price for what you get, especially considering how fresh the proteins are and how attentive the service is. Lastly, KazuNori is a no-tip establishment which is nice, simply because I don't have to calculate a tip at the end of a meal. I would definitely come back here and highly recommend it!

I knew that my triumphant return to NYC must include at least one trip to Kazunori. I love love this temaki chain and I need them to open one in NorCal because I will be there daily. No stranger to the quality and the taste of Kazunori so we were definitely hype. The line was long but moving steadily. The other guests around us could stand to be more patient though. Case in point we were at the front of the line but we were skipped because they had a 2 seater instead of 3, so we were communicated that we will be sitting next. The 2 girls behind us tried to shove us out of the way to launch themselves forward for no reason which was so incredibly awkward like who is raising this generation. We get seated and unfortunately they soon follow sitting next to us so it's a big yuck but whatever I'm going to get my temaki on. We were trying to decide if we wanted to get the monk fish liver hand roll or not because it's kind of not something I try often so wasn't sure how to feel about it. Then we noticed the Nozie combo which is a self combo so I said let me try - then all my friends said ok let us get the same thing . I noticed the two snob next to us returned their monk fish liver plate (not hand roll) so I'm like shoot! They also left after like 15 minutes of sitting down so not sure what was happening. Wondering if the Nozie will include it and if we would like it. One of my friend is a little bit more sensitive to different type of fish so was kind of worry there. But everything and I meant absolutely everything was perfection. No lie. 0 . I won't spoil what comes in the Nozie for you but you'll be impressed. Ok small spoiler this Nozie got the monk fish in it! So probably all Nozie will get at least one of the special of the day roll. The ankimo was amazing - perfectly balanced and sauced. Like ugh I think about it now. Like you taste something so damn beautiful it's going to stick with you. Also got free refill of my ice tea!! So good. Not sweet. Very nice matcha notes. Ok we are six rolls - each - and one of my friend and I was like hmmm k let's get another one so we both got another bay scallops. Chef kiss way to end a meal at Kazunori. Like I could have add another one I was full but it was soooo good. Service was good. Just one dude was a tiny rude because my friend ask for another chop stick and he didn't say anything but told someone else to get her a new chop stick vibe slightly off but it's fine. Our actual server was a nice sweet lady who gave me more ice tea so no complaints I am a Kazunori stan.
Be the first to ReplySeriously this is THE BEST tasting sushi I've ever had.
The wait outside is ridiculous. BUT I will say that I was thinking about the flavors for like two days. AND I refused to order sushi from anywhere else because I didn't want to ruin the memory. lol!! Soooo ya wait on the line, enjoy and savor the flavors, just have a snack and wear comfy shoes because you will wait for 1 hour outside. The warm rice, the fresh fish, the flavors infused....Totally delicious!
Be the first to ReplyWent there for a dinner with a friend.
I got there at 5 and there was a short line, but we got seated pretty quickly luckily. It was my first time at a hand roll bar and the server said the 5 and 6 sets were the most popular choices, so we each got a 6 set. However, the server did not warn about the portion at all, they were 6 pretty sizable rolls. Half way through the course I realized I could not finish the rolls, and asked the server if I could take them to go. Maybe this is a well known fact in the hand roll world, but apparently they don't allow you to take them to go - you can only cancel the rest of the order, and they will charge you the a la carte price for what you've consumed, even though the items match with the 4 set. I felt this wasn't really fair. They knew it was our first time and we weren't familiar with the policy, but gave no warning before hand. And the server's attitude towards the whole thing was fairly arrogant. The food was fresh, scallop roll was delicious, and the price is affordable, but overall found the hype to be half worthy.

Pretty good deal for the money if somewhat bland and repetitive. Hand rolls are heavy on the rice and if they didn't tell me what type of fish it was i wouldn't really know. They have a good system of getting people in and out fairly quickly so the wait on line wasn't as bad as it looked. Definitely not the type of place you want to linger after you've eaten.
Be the first to ReplyIf you have ever been here then you are lucky, this place
If you have ever been here then you are lucky, this place is small but to the point, a great dining experience. We had such a great time here, that after spending a day in the area, we needed to stop here again for a small bite before we left New York. Our visit for lunch we both opted for the 6 hand rolls, while for our second stop we picked a few rolls and had 3 or so. We also tried the daily special of sashimi, the Sea Bass. I think we both agreed we loved the Yellowtail, and everything else we tried was amazing as well. The best way to eat the hand roll, is fresh when it is still crispy and warm. I really appreciated the staff and how helpful they were. They don't accept tips here, but they are amazing and their service is beyond. When they gave us specialty rolls, they always told us the best way to enjoy our rolls. I will go out of my way to go back here again! Might even fly all the way to New York for fish this good, and service that is above and beyond.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place if you want to meet up with a friend but not
Great place if you want to meet up with a friend but not have too long a meal. Given efficiency of concept, can have your 5 handrolls in 45m and be off with your night. Enjoyable to sit by the bar and watch chef make hand rolls.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service are amazing.
Very unique NYC experience. Don't be deterred by the line it's goes quick and worth a little wait.
Be the first to Replyhand rolls are okay, sashimi isn't worth the price imo.
the menu selection is tiny and it's not super impressive nor awfully bad. service was slow the night i was there. it's very alright but i don't think i'd come back
Be the first to ReplyGreat rolls and loved the daily special the day I was there.
As usual bar service style good and fast. Best no fumbling to calculate tips. Everything included.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here and I understand the hype now! Super quick
First time here and I understand the hype now! Super quick dinner and everything tasted so fresh. We had a party of 4 and stopped by the restaurant around 6:30 on a Friday and weren't waiting very long so I'd definitely try to beat the dinner rush. Parties of 1 and 2 got seated super quickly too. I see some people mentioning that the amount of fish per roll is small and that there's too much rice. While that is true, I do think the quality and freshness is better than your average place. Rolls add up if you're not ordering the combo. I was a bit hungry and felt like 6 was a good amount for me. You can always start with a smaller combo and add on more rolls until you're satisfied. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyAs good as SoCal locations? Absolutely, the consistency
As good as SoCal locations? Absolutely, the consistency they have on this chain is amazing, tiny variations from chef to chef on rice levels, but consistent enough where it doesn't change the experienceThe rice is always warm and compliments the crunchy nori perfect toy. Scallops are a must try here, a bit of creamy goodness and a pinch of wasabi makes it perfect!

Went to KazuNori Sunday afternoon slightly after it opened and there was already a line. It was about a 30 minute wait. I ordered The Noize along with the two specials and my friend ordered the 6 hand rolls with the two specials. Each hand roll came out pretty quick. Each piece tasted fresh. Would recommend 10/10.

What a cool place!! The line for this restaurant was out the door on a random Wednesday evening. There are only two bars with seating inside- no tables. Everyone sits at the bar and watched the chef make the hand rolls in front of them. I would recommend the set menu of 6 rolls which was filling enough for me, but you can also add individual extra rolls on top of that. Overall, not very pricey. It's a great deal for delicious sushi and a cool experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat sushi for great value.
It carries well and arrives so quickly for delivery.
Be the first to ReplyThe line was definitely intense but we did eventually get
The line was definitely intense but we did eventually get seated at the bar (about 45 minute wait on Tuesday right around 6:30). Service was fast and the food was good. It was a fun experience, but I would probably order fewer hand rolls next time. I ended up missing the variety that sugarfish offers. The no-reservation feature is a real downside.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing spot to get some handrolls as their fish is really
Amazing spot to get some handrolls as their fish is really fresh at a reasonable price.Note that they don't take reservations so you'll usually have to wait. On a weekday, the wait is usually pretty minimal. On the weekends, expect at least a 30-45 minute wait unless you're the first round of seating. There's not a ton of seating as everyone sits around the bar, but it goes by pretty fast as the sushi chefs pace the rolls.Sitting at the bar, you're able to watch the sushi chefs make your handrolls right in front of you which is always fun. Since everyone's sitting at the bar, this is a great place to dine solo -- I've seen folks reading a book or watching tv during the meal which seems peaceful. I usually go with 5 rolls or 6 rolls (makes the most sense $$$-wise to stick to their set menus) and it's surprisingly super filling even though it doesn't look or feel like a lot. Suddenly, you'll have one roll left and be like damn, I'm actually really full now.My personal fave is probably the scallop roll because it's so creamy, but they're all good and it's definitely a personal preference!
Be the first to Replyokay so I love hand rolls, but this was so fun and chic.
Very limited menu, but oh so good. the rolls come out warm and perfect.I'm not sure if I'll be a "regular" there, but definitely the two times I have already gone have satisfied a deep craving 100%. Yumm!Great date night...
