Nuanced flavors and platings.
Really enjoyed the experience. We appreciated the depth of the tasting menu -- we were presented with so many options and interesting combinations. We each ordered something different and had a chance to try a wide range of complementary flavors.

I have been here few times before and last night was a pure disappointment. Giving 2 stars for the ambience and service. The food was bland, tasteless and the biryani chicken smelled funky, especially the meat, below expectations, never again.

I enjoyed the cheese zataar naan! Most of the food was enjoyable minus one dish. I think it's a little too expensive for what you're getting, but overall not a bad experience.

We had an engagement party at Junoon and overall we are very happy with our choice. We were a party of 40+ Drinks were amazing and service was at par. Young was the event co-ordinator who worked with us from the beginning. Canapés and main course was excellent. Server also helped guest us choose the drinks, which was great. Space is limited but we were able to mingle with the guests and then everyone was able to sit down and enjoy buffet style dinner. Only suggestion I have is to serve warm Naan/Roti, just out from the tandoor, which makes a big difference when served with Indian food. In our case naan basket was already on the table before people had food in their plate. Overall we had a great experience.

Food is creative! Tasting menu was delicious, please bring your appetite. I can still taste the yum from last week and will definitely be back! This place has maintained quality over the years.

Our party of four opted for the 2-course prix fixe menu for a special-occasion dinner recently. I've been to the old Junoon years ago before they moved, but not since. Things look a little different now, but high level of service and quality is still there after all this time. They continue to earn that much-coveted Michelin star. The Junoon Chaat appetizer was a standout dish in both presentation and flavor - highly recommend that one. All of our other appetizers and drinks were especially tasty as well - my Mumbai Margarita had a delicious kick that did not disappoint. One thing I miss from the original location in the gorgeous spice room that was downstairs. It had the most vibrant and beautiful assortment of spices, which I believe they mixed and perhaps even dried themselves. It was one of those truly special and memorable things you'd experience at the old location, like a little hidden secret. Still, this was a delicious experience from start to finish. Definitely visit for that special meal if you can.

After watching seasons of Masterchef India, we were keen to try out Chef Vikas Khanna's Michelin star winning food and found out that he was associated with the restaurant Junoon in New York. Some friends went there last year and gave us good reviews. So we did not think twice when we were planning a celebration for our 6th anniversary. We planned to go for a 3 course menu and made reservations a week in advance. The appetizers were smashing and so delicious! I had not tried haleem before in my life, but couldn't stop eating even if it was a little bit spicy for me. The chicken was very well cooked and looked so beautiful. Achari Paneer in the main course was ok-ish but the konkani shrimp was super yum. I must give an extra star for the side rice- I couldn't believe how a simple dish could be made so well. It went very well with the shrimp curry. The dessert was definitely the highlight of the meal. I loved the many flavors of the kulfi pop and my husband enjoyed the pistachio ice cream with the banana cake. We were also treated to a small but delightful anniversary cake. Also, we took the junoon special naan with zatar spice to-go and finished it with some leftovers later in the night. The restaurant is spacious and pretty. The service is warm and kind. Also, the restaurant is nicely located near the Madison Square Park where we took a satisfied and blissful walk after lunch. I highly recommend!

....I have dined at Indian cuisine restaurants all over the world. This is by far in the top 10. Amazing. I came here on a whim, having gotten stuck in Manhattan for an extra night when my client issue was resolved and the need to stay longer was obviated. I googled "best Indian restaurants in NYC," and this place came up as number 1. So, feeling intrepid, I decided to go it on my own and check it out. I am so happy I did. I started with the "Flight to India," a transportive flight of three of Junoon's legacy cocktails. Aromatics, spices, and spirits abounded. All I can say is.....you HAVE to try this. I was transported. Do you know how tastes and smells can send you back in time? I first tried the Junoon in Manhattan. It was simply delicious and complex. With an amazing cherry that had soaked for days in alcohol served on a spear. It reminded me of when I used to steal sips of my mother's Manhattan at age 10 at Aunt Rhoda's house. Full of citrus! A stolen pleasure of my youth. So pungent and prophetic! It portended of the warmth and flavour to come. Second was the Masala Whiskey. Yum. Made with house made Masala syrup and orange bitters---sweet and smoky (real smoke). Just tantilizing. I even enjoyed the soaked orange peel. Last, the Stinging Vesper---Indian Gin with other liquors, including Lillet blanc---clean, light, crisp with a soaked lemon peel. The restaurant offers ala carte options but also two, three, and five course tasting menus. I decided to try the five-course chef tasting menu and since I had choices (see menu in my pictures accompanying this review) I chose Tuna Puchka (tuna, black salt, caviar, cilantro and Jaljeera) followed by Duck& Truffle Kozambu (seared royal trumpet mushrooms, cabbage wrapped mushrooms, winter truffles, poppy seed & tomato sauce), Maacher Hara Gouri (banana leaf steamed tamarind, jaggery marinated red snapper, smoked salmon roe, basmati rice) and Lamb Pasanda (tandoor roasted lamp chop, cranberry, saffron walnut sauce). I sat at the bar and was served by two lovely bartenders, Deepak, and another older gentleman's whose name is escaping me now. Deepak said that the kitchen would allow me to trade out the dessert choices on the fiev course meal to something more of my liking...Kulfi Pops (small stocks of ice dessert in Mango, ube malai, rose petal and saffron-cardamom). Everything was really, really fabulous, with the standouts being the lamb (succulent!) and the Maacher Hara Gouri--just amazing. I also loved the Kulfi Pops. I can't wait for my next trip to NYC!
Be the first to ReplyHands down the best Indian food I have ever tasted.
Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors and presentation were completely unique. I had the Junoon Chat and the lamb chops with the spicy naan. Service and ambience also very nice. Very expensive for Indian food but definitely not your everyday Indian restaurant.

I recently had an amazing dining experience at Junoon restaurant, where I celebrated my first salary with my husband. We opted for the 3-course meal, which turned out to be an absolute delight for our taste buds. Each course was exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented, but the real showstopper was the dessert. I have to say, Junoon's kulfi was simply out of this world! It was the perfect ending to an already wonderful meal.We thoroughly enjoyed our entire dining experience at Junoon, from the ambiance and service to the delicious food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable and flavorful dining experience.

Food was fantastic and service was impeccable. I really appreciated the recommendations from our waiter. I would recommend and definitely go again the next time I'm in NYC.

This indian restaurant truly lives up to the hype (I've recently been to a few others that don't). The food was unique but also nostalgic, the cocktails are what you would find at a high end cocktail bar, and the service was outstanding. I look forward to going there again!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant was unbelievable, so good.
The best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. We ordered the eggplant chaat, ghost chili murgh tikka, murgh lababdar & tellicherry duck. Everything was amazing, highly recommend. Definitely coming back for more! The staff was incredibly friendly as well. After reading reviews I decided to order a cocktail, season of love, and it was delicious!! Point is you will not regret coming!!

Absolutely wonderful dining experience with incredible service that deploys the constant monitoring for comfort of the guests without being intrusive. A beautiful location with warm and inviting lighting. And brilliant food that makes you want what he other person has ordered. It is worth the visit. The complex mix of flavors really highlights why they have gotten Michelin stars in the past.
Be the first to ReplyI was seriously thinking about going to this restaurant.
But after watching Mr Vikas Khanna judging MasterChef India, and his biased views towards certain contestants, decided not to visit this restaurant. He was seen favoring Aruna,Kamaldeep unnecessarily. I know this is not a review of restaurant but how can food be good if chef is so biased.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a mitchelin star place.
We did three course and were a group of 7. The wine pairing recommendations we good. All the apps and mains were cooked perfectly and nicely flavored. It's a prix fix place.

There are many other better places with better quality food around NYC .
Be the first to ReplyWhat a wonderful dinner at Junoon.
We had the chef's (non veg) tasting menu. Inventive but still retaining the essence of the food we've grown up eating. The three course option also seemed like a great choice - especially for a larger group. The courses perfectly complemented each other, without being too heavy or light. My favorite' s were the tuna puchka, and the Uni Moilee - which somehow reminded me of my mom's kerala meen molee despite it's elevated/different flavor profile. They kindly let us choose dessert off the regular menu if we desired instead of the planned tasting course, and we had the cricket and ma's rice pudding - both winners, and adorably served. Cocktails are a must if you drink alcohol - I had the sparkling saffron which was light, airy, and just the right amount of sweet. Ended with a bomb masala chai - but they have a great varied tea selection as well. Service was excellent - and quick without being rushed. This is definitely one of my favorites. Thank you for an amazing dinner Junoon!

Expensive, Americanized Indian food whose restaurant decor is what truly shines. Roughly $60 a person. 3/5 stars as a dinner spot.

Have been here a few times , although I love their food , ambiance and presentation, I was disappointed with the service of a particular male employee who takes care of a couple of tables at the entrance, last time I chose their main dining room and the service was perfect and the whole experience changed, goes to show how important a role service plays in a restaurant!!! Having said that it's still a beautiful place with amazing food !!

Came to this restaurant last week for the first time (small work dinner) and loved it. This place makes elevated food, but the atmosphere isn't pretentious at all, feels like anyone can come and enjoy. We started with a drink at the bar and I had a great Riesling that was crisper that I expected, which was really nice. The three of us then each ordered off the 3 course menu as well as ordering a sampling of all the breads (all were amazing) and the crispy eggplant that I'm still thinking about. Their sommelier was really great as well, she seasoned the glasses and gave us great recommendations. For my meal I ordered spicy paneer, a root vegetable dish and ma's rice pudding- first time I have ever had rice pudding and it was delicious.Overall- I recommend this place for sure. Staff was kind, spot was cozy, and the food was fantastic. Looking forward to coming back soon!

I heard so much about this place but it was such a disappointment! The food was served cold. We ordered Junoon spice chat which was very average. We also ordered Lasooni Palak, paneer pasanda, dal makhani with garlic naan. 10/10 for presentation and 1/10 for the taste. I understand that taste can be subjective but serving the food cold is not acceptable. Portion size was also pretty small compared to other Indian restaurants. Our server was great. He apologized for the food and removed it from our bill. I was really hoping for a good experience!

We had an outstanding experience. The service was totally attentive without being intrusive. The food presentation was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious . We enjoyed the salmon and eggplant chaat as appetizers and the tandoori chicken for our main dish. Wish they would bottle the sauce!!! Our choices for dessert were ma's rice pudding and assorted sorbet. Looking forward to another visit very soon. Looking f

During our short trip to NYC, me and my wife wanted to experience a gala dinner night at a Michelin star restaurant. It goes without saying that we were fortunate to make the best decision to dining out at Junoon on last Wednesday night. We ordered their $95 per person menu offering which filled with some exquisite and delicious Indian cuisine items. Each dish was a perfect blend of Indian spices and other ingredients which not only fulfilled our appetite but it also lived up to our expectations. The restaurant ambience was quite perfect though we decided to sit in the outdoor patio area as that arrangement looked more appealing to us. Overall, I can not provide anything than 5 star ratings to Junoon for making our dining experience quite memorable to say the least.
