Be the first to ReplyThe Local Bites Cafe in Dubai.... an intimate culinary delight of local cuisine.
Like so many Australian tourist travelling from Oz we arrived in Dubai on a flight just as the sun had just come over the horizon. It was alreday hot and time for something to eat! We had seen a good write up for the 'Local Bites Cafe' in an Australin newspaper and thought to give it a go. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and truly local. The service was courteous and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. My recommendation is to go by cab. Cab travel is cheap and beats walking in Dubai's very high temperatures. For a taste of the local cuisine in a very intimate setting with great coffee...give it a look in!
Be the first to ReplyGood food taste and quality
Though the place is quiet small and not sufficiently able to accommodate groups at same time, I would say food was amazing and quality was high ... I would recommend the Jumeria Platter where you can enjoy "Khameer" & "Jabab" bread along with Indian "Keema Mutton", "cheese" and "Balaleet"... Adding the"Karak tea" and "Logaimat" is worthy:)
Be the first to ReplyLocal Bites - Arabic bites!!
Local Bites Cafe is one among the fine dining cafe servicing local Arabic cuisine at its best. Rare to get some authentic local cuisine and i was excited to get an invitation from the new owners of this cafe. The restaurant is not new to Dubai. It was recently got renovated and was opened to provide a new experience to Dubai residents. [gallery ids="1123,1124,1125,1126" type="rectangular"] This branch is in Jumeirah road and to get there is pretty easy also. It's a cozy place with historic interiors showcasing the local theme. I was longing for a long time to try the local breakfast and Local bites gave me an amazing chance. [gallery ids="1131,1133" type="rectangular"] We were welcomed by the staffs and had offered us with the drinks first. We had their Signature drink Jumeriah Special, Vimto & Jumeirah Mint Lemonade. [gallery ids="1130,1129,1127" type="rectangular"] Jumeirah Special is cold brew blended well with chilled milk & date syrup. As a coffee lover i loved this drink totally. A perfect start to an amazing morning. Mint Lemonade was very refreshing and rejuvenating drink with the strong mint flavor. Vimto is another drink with amazing flavors blended together. We then had their Local Bites platter costing AED 75. It has 2 paratha, 2 chebab, 2 khameer, Balaleet & kheema serve with Date syrup & cream cheese. It can be shared among 2 and has a good platter of selected local dishes.Loved each item served in this platter. Amazing dishes and highly recommended at Local Bites. [gallery ids="1135,1134,1128" type="rectangular"] Moving on we had Pizzatha from their signature Parathas. Ohh my god that was an amazingly executed dish from the chef. A good move with our local paratha. Loved the cheesiness & flavor in it with chicken cubes. Again a must try at this place. Next we tried the Pasta Alfredo. Penne Pasta cooked in creamy bechamel sauce tossed with grilled chicken, mushrooms & Parmesan cheese. Pasta was perfectly done with nice creamy textured sauce. It was delicious. Then we had the server suggested dish Jumeirah Khameer Sandwich which is freshly baked Khameer sandwich stuffed with specially marinated chicken. The Khameer was freshly baked and served with an amazing mix of chicken. It tasty and filling too. We couldn't leave this place without trying the emirati delights. We chose to have their signature dessert Lugiamat. It is one among the most loved emirati desserts. It is sweet fried dumplings in date syrup. It was presented in red color small pot . It was fresh , hot & soft with medium sweetness. It was very tasty and loved each bite of it. [gallery ids="1139,1138,1137" type="rectangular"] After our grand breakfast we were feeling very content with an amazing weather outside we went for a peaceful walk to the kite beach which is just a 5 minutes away from the cafe. It was a well spent morning with good food and family round. Thank you Local Bites for having us over there. Will be coming back to you soon. My Rating: Food:Excellent Service: Good Ambience: Good Pricing: Reasonable Eat to you heart's content & stay healthy!!! Local Bites Cafe Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
Be the first to ReplyEmirate Cafe popular for short eats.
There is always a special excitement when you know the old cafe that has undergone a renovation is back & reopened their doors. You soon try them with their best foot forward. The local bite that has titivated in their Emirati appearance, with a splendid fusion menu in the house. Menu went through a makeover too, keeping the popular local dishes on the menu and introducing new modernised platter on board, with Emirati and Desi favours. We were all summoned up to try out the new menu and we couldn’t stop to dig in. Beverages – We started off with drinks, Cold Coffee made with organic coffee using purely date syrup as a sweetener, it was smooth, mellow, date syrup made it taste much richer. It is a must try when u visit. We also had locally produced refreshing drinks “Namlet” in glass bottles with flavours offering from rose, lemon, and mango. These were pretty good not much of sweet yet refreshing. Appetisers – Salad Trio – Locals favourite, the classic Fattoush salad dressed slightly with sweet pomegranate dressing, along with Tabbouleh had kept its traditional touch with flavour spot on. A new addition to menu and my taste buds was stir fried cauliflower salad with soy garlic seasoning was quiet delicious. Then on the list was Mediterranean platter that had traditional house baked pitta bread with perfectly grilled soft halloumi cheese, alongside two ramekins filled with was labneh which was creamy and hummus with olive oil and sprinkle of coriander on it to offer a Indian touch last but not the least crispy falafel on a toothpick inserted in pita. Mains – We had assortment of Paratha’s presented to us, which were quiet innovative and truly divine for taste. The crispy Oman chips & cheese roll was quiet cheesy and tangy. Pizzatha a combination of paratha and pizza. A flat bread with pizza sauce with tender chicken pieces stuffed presented in triangular cut was blast of flavours and yummy. Mash cheese paratha were mashed potato along with cheese; very similar to potato cheese toast. There were many more paratha to list, as Stuffed paratha with mashed potato & chilli chutney, and tikka roll. Next on try was Khameer Platter a popular old-fashioned Emirati snack khameer stuffed with mildly spiced chicken was served with Tzatiki sauce which went very lovely with khameer. They do a vegetarian option instead of chicken is Crispy Falafel. Desserts – No one leaves a cafe without a sweet note so, here we were heading to last step of meal the dessert going with the tradition of UAE came the Lugaimat small round fried dumpling topped with date syrup which were super soft and wonderful. Hold your heart, as the next sweet will make your mouth water because it is Nutellaaaa, a crispy paratha oozing out nutella from sides with cream cheese, strawberries & drizzle of date syrup made it look so attractive that I couldn’t keep my eyes out of it, it was delectable. It’s definitely recommended. Local bites cafe is a definitely a spot to try local delicacies with touch of Asian flavours. The dessert along with the paratha platter will be among your favourite cafes in Dubai. People can also grab food and have a stroll on beach. I will definitely revisit it with family and friends. Value for money too. Address Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim, Dubai Tel: +971 4 3883659
