I was transiting in Manila for 9 hours and couldn’t wait to try Jollibee’s and their legendary spicy chicken joy. The whole experience was not joyful and I’ll certainly avoid it.
The ordering process is strange for a fastfood restaurant chain. When you place the order, the cashier gathers/packs your food and sometimes cooks also while you wait. Once you get your meal, then the next customers order is taken. The queue moves very slowly. A very inefficient, time consuming and frustrating process.
It also took time for the cashier to enter the order in the terminal. I ordered four individual items. I thought entering my order details would be quick.
I was served two items and was given a plastic stand with a number and told that the other items would be delivered to the table. About half an hour later, nothing arrived so I went to the cashier. They told me to wait for a few minutes. I waited 10 minutes, no joy. I went back and said I have to leave and catch a flight. They gave me the remaining items few minutes later. From ordering to receiving the last items took almost an hour.
Not the end of the problem. One of the items was not what I ordered. It was too late to complain, I was already at the checkin counter. The other item was piping hot, probably just came out of the fryer.
I haven’t been to other Jollibee’s. Perhaps the issue is only with the airport branch. I hope so. Jollibee’s was crowded. There is a KFC near and its less crowded. If in future I am transiting in Manila and feel like fried chicken, I’ll go to KFC. Better chicken (in my opinion) and I presume the ordering process will be seamless, quicker, less stressful and accurate. The staff at Jollibee’s didn’t have the decency to apologies or offer something complimentary.
