The service as always was impeccable.
The server was courteous and interested in our party of 6. They had a special that most guests ordered.

Been here a few times and the food and service has always been great! Forgot to take a pic of the apps until we were almost done and then completely forgot on the dinner and desert.

A relaxing atmosphere and tables were spacious with a nice distance between them. Low noise level. The food was good overall. I had the filet and it was skittle too chewy compared to other restaurants I have dined at through out the USA. Service was excellent and on the spot.

I had a really disappointing experience at Jeff Ruby's on Friday. This was actually the third time that I've gone there and my steak has not been cooked properly, but usually they seem to go out of their way to correct it. This time was different and a very lackluster experience. My steak was overcooked and gray all the way through. I brought it to my servers attention and he seemed a little irritated but agreed that it was way overcooked. I was eventually brought another filet but I had been butterflied and it came out way after the rest of my party had finished their meal. It was a very disappointing experience overall. I've been to Ruth's Chris and there the servers will point out if a steak has been prepared incorrectly before you even have a chance to bring it to their attention. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Louisville to go to Ruth's Chris. Jeff Ruby is not worth the exorbitant price.

Who wouldn't give this restaurant 5 stars? From the moment you walk in you are treated with the utmost care. I loved the décor and was stoked to get seated in the Gatsby room. Our wait staff was incredible! The food was phenomenal, to the point that I thought about it for a month afterwards. It is probably best that we live so far away.
Be the first to ReplyCame here a couple times- the first was amazing.
Got the Wildcat cake and it was delicious. Loved the decorations and the chandelier in the main dining room is gorgeous. The service the first time we went was strange, the waiter always forgot something. He brought the appetizer but no plates. He brought dessert but no spoons. He brought the check but no pen. However when we went back a second time, the service was above and beyond.

Everything in general is great at Jeff Ruby's, and the first half of my steak was a very good medium rare, however, it wasn't evenly cooked as the second half was medium well. Ended up eating 2/3rds of it but the last third was too overcooked for my liking and I was already full.

Meh. That's how I would describe my experience here. My wife has had many business lunches and dinners here, so she wanted to take me for our anniversary. The ambiance and live music is good, a bit much and a bit gaudy at times but no biggie. The food was great, my steak was cooked perfect, the Brussel sprouts were to die for, no complaints. Now for the bad. Service...it sucked. Our waiter was for lack of a better term, stuck up and unconcerned about us. He spent most of his time 2 tables over entertaining a group of 8 older ladies, probably lobbying for a good tip, I won't fault him for that, and smoking, I will fault him for that. Drinks sat empty, cocktail orders took 20+ minutes, he checked on us twice, he was passive aggressively rude, it really detracted from the entire evening. If it wasn't for his trainee, we wouldn't have gotten our food, cocktails, water refills, or the bill. He was great, so nice that I ran across the street to get more cash to give him a substantial tip, mainly for saving our disastrous anniversary dinner. I may be biased because my wife hyped this place up and I expected more than I should've, but if I pay $600 for dinner, I expect good service. If had to do it again I would go to Carson's, Tony's, Cole's 735 Main, even Malones...for similar quality food, similar ambiance, drastically better service, all for much less money, thus making the cost/benefit analysis a no brainer. Food: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Service: 2 Stars Price: 3 Stars Averages out to 3.5 stars, which I think is fair.

Do not go! The most rude management team ever! We have four people that go to Jeff Rubys after a basketball game.... we are told upon arrival there are no tables until 10 PM. However, you are welcome to go to the bar... We walk over to the bar and nearly every bar chair says "reserved". Sort of weird since you can't reserve bar chairs, right?... Unless you're friends of Jeff's... We were told. So wow the entire bar chairs nearly all reserved... Even if you stand there and wait for someone to get up... Once they get up a staff member throw down a big sign that says reserved the people that have been standing there waiting for an hour and a half, Can't even get a table... I speak to a female manager... To complain of the issue... And she's part of the team... And tells my party of four that we will need to leave... Obviously, at first I refused to leave because, mind you . We have waited for a table for about 45 minutes... Just as I was told... But the rest of my party insisted we go to Tony's restaurant where we can get better service... I finally agreed to this scenario... Couldn't have been better plan as our service at Tony's was remarkable... not only is the service better at Tony's, their espresso martinis, but Jeff's to shame! Not sure if I'll ever go back to Jeff's to deal with such rude and inappropriate behavior from team members, including the female manager. Or maybe I'll try to, on the game night get a bar chair reserved for me. So in the future, if anyone ever needs a bar chair at the bar, keep in mind Jeff Rubys does reserve chairs at the bar, so do not let them tell you any different... Let them know you are just friends of Jeff's and see where this goes! Simply explain to them the last time you were in Jeff's nearly over 50% of the bar chairs were reserved, so why can't you get a reservation?
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, beautiful restaurant.
Food was very good. Steak was in the top 3 I've ever had. Wine list was impressive. Cocktails are top notch h

I have been to Jeff Rubys at other locations and enjoyed it quite a bit all around. This location wasn't the norm. First off the servers dresses were so short they couldn't even bend over without everything hanging out. The drink I was served wasn't made right and they commented on it saying they weren't sure why it wasn't like it usually is. When they should of made it the right way. I was not impressed so ended up leaving without getting food and going back to Tony's steak house instead. Not up to Jeff Ruby's standards at all.

The decor and ambiance is unbelievable! The service is top notch. The downside is the food is not as extraordinary as I'd hoped. The baked potato is a 2. It is just an average size potato without any rub or anything on it? The baked potato is just as important as a steak! Also I don't like the family style dining. It doesn't go well with a classy restaurant like this. Mr Ruby please hire new chefs that's can make a baked potato like Malones, and salad!

It was difficult to get a table reservation, so I went and had a couple of Manhattans at the bar. The bar is classy and on entering the restaurant you notice a huge chandelier. Patrons were well dressed and it felt like you were in a stylish setting. The drinks were well done by the bartender. I liked the live music set up on an elevated platform behind the bar.Good experience. Will try the food next time.
Be the first to ReplyI have been to Jeff Ruby's several times.
I have usually sat in a booth and received excellent service. However this time felt a little different. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and while all of the bar tenders, and helping staff were all very nice, the service seemed, sub par. Was that because we were at the bar and the standards are lower? I'm not sure. We both have worked in a restaurant for a decade now so We we're both empathetic to the demands of being a bartender. However, I will say this. Being a bartender, I was very disappointed to watch the bartender make our drinks (French 75, manhattans and old fashions) and simply build them in a glass and serve them as opposed to building them in a strainer, stirring them, and then straining them over ice. That really dilutes the quality of a drink. In my Opinion, small things like excellent, attentive service, and mixology is something that separates regular steak houses from places like Ruby's. The food was excellent. The staff were all nice. But to spend the amount of money that you spend at an establishment like this, should you receive anything less than perfect? Either way, we would both come back.

We went for an early valentines since everything was booked a month in advance. We wanting to try it. The decor is impressive and wait staff seemed well trained but overall experience was just ok. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but came medium. I didn't want to say anything because we were with another couple. But overall the consciences were 7.5-8 out of ten. When you drop 250 for a meal for two you expect more than we got. Food was good just not outstanding
Be the first to ReplyNice meal, wonderful servers, pricey but worth it.
The only problem I had was that we requested a quiet area to celebrate a special gentleman's 80th birthday and this was ignored. There were quiet areas in the restaurant--we just didn't have one. We were seated closer to the front where people were walking by us. But the food was worth the price!

Was contacted by DJ a manager at the restaurant and he was super nice and apologetic about our experience. Wanted to make sure we would be returning and give them an opportunity to make things right. We will be returning for sure, just based on their concern for their customers. Will update again as soon as we make a return trip.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dining experience you will not be disappointed.
Large shareable portion definitely worth the money.
Be the first to ReplyAlways excellent food and customer service.
The ambiance is perfect for a night out! My favorite steakhouse in Lexington to frequent by far.

Yes the food is great overall and the ambiance is fabulous, but for the price point it's not my favorite restaurant. You can get better steak at a better price point. Again, the food is definitely good, but for the price point I expect it to be far and above other options. That's why it gets four instead of five stars from me.
Be the first to ReplyThis place goes hard tbh.
I am rich asf so the food is actually cheap to me tbh lol. I know most people can't flex that, but I am seriously super rich so this was nothing for me. Jeff Ruby can kiss my ass, he will never be as rich as me. Great food, I am very rich.

I went here on a Saturday night and the vibe was amazing! Live music from a great cover band, great drinks, and the steak was top of the line. I would definitely come back!

Last night I tried Jeff Ruby's for the first time and it was fabulous in every respect. The food was perfectly prepared and presented including splitting dishes as we asked. Also the service was superb. An excellent team effort.
Be the first to ReplyJeff Ruby's man.
Surely I've rated before but I always love it. Favorite restaurant in Lexington. In terms of atmosphere it's obviously elite. Steak is in my humble opinion best in Lexington, top 5 in the country, sides are amazing, and desert is world class. Is it possible to beat the butter pie? I think not!
Be the first to ReplyThis isn't the place to go for a cheap but alright steak.
This is the place you go for an absolutely amazing steak experience. The prices are not remotely cheap but the food and service are astounding. I've worked in catering on and off over the years and still find their service to be impeccable. One word of caution, their sides are enough for two people so you want to plan to share them with whomever you bring as there will be plenty.
