Ernesto Montes is an ACTUAL monster of a human.
After dealing with months of depression my best friend convinced me to come out tonight and she brought me to Javier's. We asked to be seated outside because we had dogs with us but the hostess refused and sat us inside. Then, the manager comes up to us and tells us we'll be asked to leave if our dogs continue to make noise. I reminded them that I asked to be seated outside and when I went to the manager, ERNESTO MONTES, he refused to hear my concern and KICKED US OUT OF THE RESTAURANT. I had a full blown panic attack after this. Honestly, it is CRAZY to me that there are such horrible people working in the hospitality industry. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I've already contacted corporate and my attorneys.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunate Experience at Javier's Century City
I want to share my horrible experience with trying to make a reservation for my birthday. I have been going to Javier's for years. In fact, I had a birthday dinner there a few years back spending a significant amount of money and leaving a hefty tip. This year, I decided to make a reservation for 12 friends for Saturday evening. I called to make the reservation and was told that for a party over 8, that there would be a $1,200 minimum. Keep in mind, I told them that I had a party of 12 and needed a reservation for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. The manager said that he was going to email a contract for the reservation and that I would have to respond with my Identification and Credit Card. I stated that I live in the area and would prefer not to email my information. I said that I would be there in the next 15 minutes. When I arrived, the manager (Luis Perez) changed the amount from $1200 and said that it would be a $1500 required minimum and that I must have misunderstood the previous manager. I assured him that this was not the case and that I had actually talked to the manager and hostess more than once that day with all of the specifics for the reservation. His response to me was that it would be $1500 and that I didn't have to eat there. I was absolutely shocked and told him that I wanted him to honor the amount that I was quoted and that I did not misunderstand anything the original manager (Ernesto Montes) quoted me. I told him that he actually changed the price within 15 minutes of my arrival. I might also add that I am African American and do feel that this impacted the pricing. I do plan on following up and filing a complaint. Unfortunately, my patronage of Javier's has ended and I will discourage anyone that I know to support another establishment. I will also make a recommendation, to those interested in a restaurant that respects customers and would make a person trying to celebrate their birthday, feel welcomed.
Be the first to ReplyNO RESPECT FROM MANAGEMENT (Poor service)
Spent over $2000 here for a group (PAID CASH). Reserved a private room on 11/18/23, Armida the restaurant manager did not have the decency to call after several emails were sent to her for follow up. DO NOT SPEND CASH HERE, so you can make a LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT to your credit card company if you have to. When someone spends this kind of money it is common courtesy to call any guest who has an issue. We paid for servers and issued a large tip. Our waiter's disappeared for long periods of time. We had to go outside of the private room numerous times for them to take the orders. The manager Arminda was not the most responsive when it came to sending over any of the information requested in order to book the room (the first red flag). Luis another person who identified as a manager was very rude and over the top with his attitude (I mean over the top). The bottom line is Mark Post the owner, needs to be aware of the customer service and the reviews on every posting site. He should let go of any performers who bring down the business. We will make certain not to ever come back here again. PLEASE KNOW, there are many other things to be said about this place, but we don't have the time to write a book. Next step here is to connect with the owner regarding these issues. They are getting a 2 from us because of one-person out of the group made an attempt to be respectful and personable.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible, none existent service
Ambiance is nice and transformative. We sat at the bar and received a serving of chips and salsa rather quickly. Thank you the bar back. Unfortunately good things changed soon after. Salsa is very spicy, even for me. I like spicy salsa, but this one made my nose run. The guacamole is tasteless and overly oniony. We must have waited 15 minutes, at the bar, and tried to get someone's attention to get a pair of drinks. Even the manager was standing at the bar getting a drink for himself and did not notice us sitting and looking at his staff to get one of the bartenders attention. I see where the lack of 5 stars comes from - it is well-deserved. We are one and done!

Okay I have been to Javier’s a dozen times. Maybe an off day. But we had the worse meal ever. Chips were cold and rotten. The shrimp had bad bacteria tThan I ordered chicken toco’s The chicken was hard and stringy. Not sure if I will return for that money. The food USE to be great. Even the woman at the valet parking told me people were complaining Try at your own risk. Drinks good
Be the first to ReplyNice Dinner
The setting at Javier’s is quite nice, though the restaurant is quite loud. Service was friendly and quick. The food was good, and so too was my margarita.
Be the first to ReplyVery poor attitude

We had the worst experience here yesterday! Manager who spoke to us "GRACIELA" was not helpful whatsoever and had no consideration for her guests. We arrived to celebrate my brother in laws graduation and going back home lunch. My in laws traveled from Seattle to visit us in LA. They love to go to Javiers and we usually go to the location in new port. But after yesterday we will never come back. We felt so humiliated and disrespected by the staff. Our reservation was at 3:30pm we arrived and there was less than 10 tables in the whole restaurant we sat near the BACK of the restaurant and ordered cocktails, chips & guac for the table. My 8 month old son started to get sleepy and he went down for his 4pm nap. My husband went down to valet to grab the stroller out of the car and walked back up the hosts greeted him normally. I laid my sleeping baby in the stroller and put him off to the side (AGAIN THERE WAS NOT ONE TABLE SAT NEAR US) and a supervisor or such came over about 10 min later and told me they have a no stroller policy this needs to be removed. I said my baby is asleep he's not bothering anyone WTF? He said I can lay him down on the booth, THE DIRTY BOOTH where people sit their butts on and where he can roll off easily.... Said no im uncomfortable with that. He said okay ill go talk to the manager... she comes out to tell me the same thing. I ask her why do you have this policy? She said she has no idea why she just works here and follows the rules? Okay I explained, Im assuming strollers could be a hazard for servers at night when its busy and tables are sat everywhere maybe, its the aesthetic but NOT when its dead?? Like seriously use discretion and make a decision that is for the GUEST. We had already ordered our food our bill was easily over 600$ !!!! and she told me if i didn't get rid of the stroller she would not serve me. So we decided to WALK OUT still paid 85$ for drinks and chips. She mentioned i could either hold my baby or put him in the high chair .... HES ASLEEP like, come on man. This is unacceptable. I used to manage a high-end steak house restaurant in Santa Monica on the water so I understand and respect policies but we were NEVER told we could not have strollers, it wasn't on any menus, the host didn't even say anything to my husband as he rolled it inside? There was no one to be bothered by the stroller... and you just let a party walk out and miss out on $$ for your restaurant and server ...when its already dead... FOR NO REASON?! THAT YOU DONT KNOW WHY THE POLICY EXISTS?? WE WILL NEVER BE BACK THIS PLACE IS NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY GRACIELA AND MANAGEMENT NEED TO BE FIRED/RE-TRAINED DISCRETION FOR APPROPRIATE USE OF POLICY SOMEONE ELSE HAD A NEGATIVE REVIEW SIMILAR TO OUR EXPERIENCE YESTERDAY AS WELL? WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU ?
Be the first to Replypretty good food but WOW this was expensive
Dropped in for bar bites and some cocktails with a friend, and the total bill was well over $200. That's nuts. All the margaritas are $20+ so be careful! Service was a little persistent, but the ambience was nice.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent everything
Wow, not familiar with Mexican cuisine, but our fabulous waiter eased us into a brilliant meal. Recommended different margaritas for my husband. And carefully explained the menu. Chopped salad was good. The prawn dish I had was brilliant, in fact the prawns were probably the best I have ever eaten. My husband had Lobster and Dungeness Crab Enchiladas, and that too, was excellent. Wished we had time to return. It was a truly great meal.
Be the first to ReplySolid food, even better atmosphere
A pretty decent Mexican restaurant right on the Westfield shopping center in Century City. Great space with an amazing indoor/outdoor flow that really makes it feel like you’re eating outdoors even when seated inside the core of the restaurant.
The menu keeps going on and on with options to choose from, and all the food looked really good as it was passing. Enchiladas were solid, and good portion to not leave you feeling hungry. The guacamole was just okay… lacked any flavor or heat. But otherwise, solid place for good food and good drinks.
Sabor a Provincia
We had the Sabor a Provincia with margaritas and everything was delicious! Enjoyed the quick service and attentive waitress who regularly checked in on us. The booth facing the bar was a great location to feel the air flowing in from outside. I love the design of the place and highly recommend for friend groups, dates, and business happy hour with colleagues.
Be the first to ReplyPleasantly Fun
Went here on a weekday late afternoon and dined at the bar. Chips and salsa were served the moment I sat down and chips were fresh, warm, and tasty, and salsa was HOT! Margaritas were delicious and potent. Had the taquitos and they were delicious and served in a unique and pleasing manner. Service was attentive. Pricey. Watching the clientele was well worth the cost as people seemed to be right off from a movie set or wishing they were. Fun and entertaining experience.
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE manager
I was sitting at a table at the Century City location and witnessed the general manager get in the face of TWO different men. He was cursing and seemed incoherent. He was shouting and completely ruined our dining experience. Regardless of how rude a customer it, it is the general manager's job to handle the situation calmly and effectively. I have NEVER seen such terrible customer service. He was completely unhinged and has no business being in the restaurant industry.
Be the first to ReplyABSOLUTELY HORRID service and food. Also got food poisoning on my birthday from them.
I do not understand where the good reviews and hype are from. Came here to celebrate my birthday tonight and that was huge mistake.
The margaritas were the worst I’ve ever had; and for $20 at that! Tasted watered down and barely contained any alcohol. We all ended up not even finishing them and ordered shots and patron on ice instead. The food was awful. No one in my party enjoyed anything they ordered.
The queso fundido was just melted mozzarella topped with one dry olive and one small chili on a plate; completely unable to scoop or eat. It was in the form of a cold, cheese pancake when it hit the table. I had to saw a piece of cheese off just to taste it. It was disgusting.
We sent it back and our server made sure we knew he was annoyed by the fact we were dissatisfied. Rushed us through our dinner and replacement drink orders; my In-law had to ask him to wait multiple times. He then later dropped our drinks off with an intentional attitude making no eye contact nor speaking to us.
We ordered enchiladas, sopes, and the tacos de hongos— ALL BLAND and unflavorful. The only exception was the damn complimentary salsa and the slight good flavor the sauce on the enchiladas had. The food was not hot nor warm.
Not worth any amount of money.
What a waste of a birthday dinner. What a disappointment. What an unenjoyable experience.
I will never be returning here. I recommend and warn others the same— this place is trash with bad service and a pretty aesthetic.
UPDATE 9/22— I have been sick to my stomach all day from the food. My sister tried to call and speak to a manager about the situation. She spoke to someone named Luis. He yelled at her, wouldn’t let her speak, and did nothing about the situation, gave her a fake number to escalate to a higher up, then hung up on her. Spent $300 for horrid food, service, and food poisoning. 0 stars if I could. This place is disgusting in every way.
Expensive but tasty
We felt it was a bit pricey but the food was great quality, though lacking in spice. Yummy chips and salsa, excellent enchiladas (lobster one was amazing) and stuffed peppers. Great ambiance too

Yes it's Century City and Yes, it's overpriced, but the food is very good, the cocktails are great and the service is terrific. Come on a nice day, and you may never leave. 😉
Be the first to ReplyGood food great Service
The ambiance of the place is really nice but the food lacked flavor, the drinks were great. Not a bad option if you are out of them.
Be the first to ReplyBest Salsa and Guacamole
To get the negative out of the way.... I went with my family, including my one- month-old grandson. We were told that strollers are not permitted in the restaurant. Assuming that the issue was one of ensuring easy movement between tables, we said we were happy to sit outside. We were then told that no strollers were permitted outside either!!!! After some discussion and explanation that a one-month-old is not capable of sitting in a high chair (their recommendation - have they never seen an infant?), we were allowed to detach the upper part of the stroller and bring it to the table, while they stowed the bottom part with wheels - very peculiar.
Now on to the happy part....The restaurant is lovely and a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal. Our server was excellent, efficient and very kind and patient (some members of my family don't speak English well).
The salsa and guacamole were absolutely FANTASTIC. I might have licked the bowls, but my mother taught me manners! Our fish tacos were only okay, but we spooned some salsa over them, significantly improving them. My margarita was refreshing and not overly sweet.
Except for the unpleasantness concerning our stroller, our experience was very, very good. I'll be fantasizing about their salsa and guacamole for some time to come.
Unprofessional way of dealing with customers!
Unprofessional way of dealing with customers.
Starting with the manager and specifically in Irvine spectrum branch. Too bad in didn’t take his name, he was wearing a light suit, all the other staff were wearing black.
They refused to give us the table, that was supposed to be ours, cos I wasn’t standing next to my husband, I was inside the restaurant, in the washroom. It took me 2 min to get back. What a service !
We informed the manager that we will mention it on TripAdvisor. All what he said was “have a great day sir” and he turned away…
What a service !!!
