Ivan Ramen New York Reviews from The Last Year
I recently visited Ivan Ramen, the well-known restaurant
I recently visited Ivan Ramen, the well-known restaurant featured on Netflix's Chef's Table. I arrived right as they opened and was immediately impressed by the super nice servers. Their warm welcome made it feel like a classic diner experience. I started with the Wagyu Pastrami Bun, which was hands down the best bun I've ever tasted. The flavors were like a symphony in my mouth, melting with every bite. Absolutely delicious! Next, I tried the Chicken Paitan Ramen. The rich, creamy chicken broth was smooth and flavorful, and the addition of a raw egg added a velvety texture that enhanced the overall taste. While it was good, I didn't find it particularly special compared to the bun. I also ordered a half-and-half iced tea and yuzu lemonade. Not sure why I did this because I don't even like iced tea, but the yuzu lemonade was refreshing and tasty. The aesthetic of the place is super cute, like stepping into a comic book diner. It's such a fun and unique vibe that adds to the dining experience. All in all, I'd definitely go back just for that Wagyu Bun and can't wait to explore more of their ramen offerings!
Modern ramen bar
Modern ramen bar. The dishes are excellent, especially the starter wagyu-bao bun. Friendly and well-informed service.

Delicious and the food came super fast! It was a very cute New York style restaurant! The servers were al very friendly and helpful.
Was on my son's bucket list and it was spectacular.
He had a savory ramen dish and mine was vegetarian. Both were excellent, but I liked his more than mine. Excellent service and they brought more ramen. Definitely going back.
Ivan Ramen is one of my top 3 ramen spots in NYC.
Their food never misses and their constantly changing menu keeps it interesting. I don't usually write reviews but the service was so stellar it required one. Diana is truly a gem. Amazing place.

It's been a while since I first ate here on my trip to NY but I loved their ramen , very rich in flavor . Can't recall if what I ordered was the chicken paitan or ?? Just risk it all and order any , it's worth it !
Let me start off by saying the food and service is great.
My favorite dish is the chicken paitan and their beer selection is always great. I have been here a few times and have never had any complaints. This is where my 2 star review comes in. This past Saturday I stopped by for dinner and I noticed a manager being very rude and belittling one of their staff. I have been here a few times, I believe it may have been a manager or supervisor by the way they were talking down to their staff. I have seen this manager here before and she always seems to be in a bad mood or angry. As someone who has worked in the service industry in the past, this was very unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable to say the least. Not sure if I will be coming back to dine in any time soon.
food was subpar.
broth was too salty to drink. service was good, ambiance was nice. nice for a fast sit down dinner i suppose. but the food was too expensive for how disappointing it was wouldn't risk it. go next 1 star for the food. 4 for the service. too bad good service doesn't make food taste better
I came here with my friends the other night.
We had a reservation but one friend was about 20 minutes late. Luckily they were accommodating and still sat us. We dined on the patio which was roomy and private. We started with the gyoza and curry flower. I had the triple pork triple garlic mazemen. The gyoza was good, pretty standard. The curry ramen was amazing. The sauce was delicious. It tasted cheesy but there was no cheese. My friends had the chicken paitan, Tokyo shoyu ramen and the Tokyo shio ramen. My dish was a hearty dish, similar to a pasta dish. It was heavy but I enjoyed it. My one friend said her ramen was a little salty but everyone liked their meals. We shared a slice of yuzu cheesecake which was light and tasty. Our server gave it to us on the house since the curry flower app came out later - what a nice suprise! Our server was great the entire time. From suggesting things on the menu, to continually checking in and always making sure our water glasses were filled, he didn't miss a step.

Went here on a weekend date, and I'd say getting a reservation definitely helped as it was almost completely packed as we came in. Tables seemed to be turned pretty quickly as we saw many people come in and out during our short dinner. Menu was definitely a but much. We got a little QR code menu which as others mentioned, makes you click through a instagram story-esque video about each dish when you select. It made looking through the menu cumbersome, but (at least?) the waiters were still taking orders down manually so we were able to sort it all out. Food came quick, and with a good amount of time between to finish the apps. The curry cauliflower was delicious and definitely worth it: each flower was still crispy and the sauce was so indulgent and buttery. We got the Tokyo Shio & Chicken Paitan, the ramen itself was pretty good, but felt a bit separated as a whole. Each component individually was great, but I felt as though it was a bit difficult to get most of the components in one bite. We both agreed that it was filling nonetheless, but will say the meat (pork belly & minced chicken) got a bit grainy by the end and that was where we felt the dishes fell the most flat.

AMBIENCE: (5/5) - Very narrow entryway with tables down the hall that leads into another outdoor area. The narrow & close seating reminds me of actual ramen shops in Japan - The wall is decorated with images & drawings plastered on the brick in a street-style graffiti fashion SERVICE: (5/5) - Came as a walk-in with my cousin on a rainy day & was able to be seated right away - Waiter was great, greeted us with a smile & checked in on us when appropriate - Food came at a good time, didn't have to wait too long FOOD/DRINKS: (3/5) - Crispy Eggplant (5/5): Came out piping hot & breaded lightly to give that perfect crispiness on each side. The white sesame puree was very unique, acted almost like hummus in a way. Quite an interesting dish & well worth ordering again - Brussel Sprouts (2/5): I love brussel sprouts and these are cooked nicely but they were drenched in the oily chilly sauce. The sauce itself wasn't bad, a bit spicy to kick off the taste buds but the entire dish was just completely soaked in a layer of oil that has separated from the sauce - Tonkotsu Ramen (3.5/5): noodles were cooked to perfection & the perfect texture. Where it fell short was the broth, wish it was a bit more rich as it had promised & more layered in flavor. It felt like it just needed... something. Felt a bit flat. The chashu was tender & the rest of the toppings were fresh. OVERVIEW: (3/5) - Wish I liked it more than I did. I think the place is good but it must've been overhyped & so the expectations were high - Gave it an overall 3 since the ramen is weighted heavier than the other components given this is a ramen restaurant - Would be open to giving it anther try but I wouldn't say it's worth all the buzz & it's definitely not one of the best ramen I've ever had
The locals know!
Not only was the Ramen really good (Tonkotsu and Chicken Paitan especially) but the Broccoli and Aubergine starters were to die for. Slightly spicy, delicately balanced, beautifully crispy flavour bombs. The locals know! Great place for lunch.
A classic!
So good and so cheap for a restaurant on this level. Theres a great chefs table episode about it. It's nondescript and welcoming, the servers are super helpful. Enjoy!
Ramen in NYC
Great experience of Asian cuisine in the land of Uncle SAN, I'm not the number 1 lover of ramen, but I was surprised. Great service and quality food!
Great ramen!
If you like ramen, this is a great place to go. Different types of ramen, and the appetizers are delicious. Good prices and excellent service.
Perfect
My tireless lunch break stop in New York, tasty and brilliant soups. I always come back with pleasure of their taste, typical oriental and imaginative environment
Super quality
Excellent ramen, superb chicken. Excellent cucumbers, impeccable service, normal prices if you consider that you are in New York
A bowl of heaven🥣
Staying in lower east side and just walked past Ivan Ramen the other night and saw it busy...always a great sign. Got a table booked for a few nights after and fell in love. Kind attentive staff and regular water top ups without prompting. Beautiful crispy egg plant to start and curried cauliflower. Then the chicken paitan for me which was just superb and my wife really loved her tonkotsu ramen. Thank you a really special night tonight for my 30th and first trip to NYC. Thanks guys x
The starters was amazing
Japnese fried chicken and my big surprise, the Lemon-Miso Brussel Sprouts. Wow, really excellent, generous portion and the flavors were on point. We regretted not having tried another starter. For the Ramens dish, we followed the waitress's recommendation with the chicken paitan with shio kombu. I'm not a big connoisseur of Ramen, but it was fine, however, for me it didn't stand out like the starters. Place and friendly service, clearly a place to return.
Tasty ramen in a funky atmosphere
The experience at Ivan Ramen did not disappoint. The service was fast and friendly. The Tonkatsu soup was incredibly flavourful and very filling. We also shared some spicy pickles that my wife adored. Highly recommended and worth the trek for ramen fans!

How do you set a timeline for getting your bid accepted? I can’t wait till the actual time I want to go. I want to know at least eight hours ahead of time. How do you do that?
