Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone - since 1957 Milano Reviews
To avoid when Il Salumaio has lost all what was the identity of this place…now focus on tourist only
Really Il Salumaio is now just place for tourist making shopping in Quadrilatera della Moda… This Winter they will turn back to real life and clearly without me anymore…better to go in Paper Moon or little bit far in Giacomo Bistro…
A friend booked Il Salumaio for my wife and I on the last
A friend booked Il Salumaio for my wife and I on the last night of our honeymoon. We didn't know much about the restaurant before dining there, other than it was featured in "House of Gucci". We were lucky enough to sit at the same table they did in the movie, which is located in their beautiful courtyard. The restaurant is on a beautiful street in Milano, close walking proximity to many of their main attractions, hotels and shopping! Food is very good and traditionally Milanese. Wine was also very good!
Ready to go back and back again!!
It doesn’t get any better than this. Delicious food, excellent service, the most incredible ambience mid 19th century architecture and antiquities. I could eat here every single night. We each tried something different and sampled all. The pasta was so fresh and house made, the meat sauce had been cooked down until it was tender and rich, the veal was as good as I’ve ever had, and the Apple tart. Well I would’ve liked to had the whole thing! I cannot recommend this place any higher than I do. Please make a reservation before you even think of going to Milan as it is always always crowded, and you will see when you go there
Terrible service!!!!!
The food is reasonable, the atmosphere/place is beautiful but the service experience was terrible! I'm on vacation and I had a bad experience at the restaurant. I tried to order wine and a dessert and it took more than 30 minutes for the waiter to bring the menu and I ended up giving up. In the end, another 15 minutes for the bill to arrive. Honestly, it was a terrible experience with my family on vacation!
Don‘t come here if you are not Italian!
Don‘t come here if you are not Italian… we booked a table far in advance but had to sit inside, although there were a lot of tables available outside. But we shouldnt complain, all foreigners had to sit inside, outside was Italians only. Food was good, but still the evening spoiled due to this kind of discrimination!
The food is amazing.
The service is great. Sunny today after days of raining so we lucked out. We had outdoor seating.
Lovely meal and evening out
Food was superb. Sea bass was perfectly cooked as was fillet of beef. Old Fashioned cocktail was excellent too. Service was perfect - friendly and not rushed at all. Lovely ambiance. Was expensive compared to some, but certainly got good value. Certainly recommend to anyone wanting a wonderful night out
Food was delicious.
Service was amazing. Roberto was my server and he was awesome. I don't speak much Italian and it was so helpful to have someone speak such good English. The tiramisu melts in your mouth. The pasta is everything you want in Italy. If you are visiting Milan and want authentic, tasty, upscale food, this place is a must.
Tasty but costly
The quality of dinner was excellent . We have tested pasta, and for giving 4 out of 5 was not due to the taste of the taste but due to price. Ok, having a good dinner is always costly, but would you visit second time, this is the question.
My dad who visit Milan regularly recommended this place.
. and it did not disappoint! We came here for dinner, family of 5 and showed up with no reservations.. apparently it's not as busy at night it's more of a popular spot for lunch being in the midst of the shopping area. The courtyard is so historic and classy.. service was super friendly and helped us customize plates for the kids.. we enjoyed every bit of our dinner here.. we ordered simple last dish and were delicious and the dessert was amazing too
Repeat visits when in Milan
This restaurant is in the heart of the shipping district. It offers a choice of outdoor or indoor seating. This restaurant is very popular so reservation is a MUST. It serves traditional Italian food. We had the crepe with porcini mushroom. It had 3 pieces per plate and you could share. Freshly baked from the oven and was piping hot. I sprinkled a bit of chili flakes onto it to add some zest to the flavour. The other dish we ordered was fish baked in salt. It was delicious and the fish was still moist. While the fish was deboned, be careful as there could be small bones inside.
Pure Italy
The place is amazing pure Italian luxury cuisine Really enjoyed my lunch thank you so much Thomas for the excellent service sure coming back
Beautiful restaurant, only ok for gluten free
We went as a business dinner while in Milan. It is a beautiful restaurant and the staff very helpful. They gave advice on our wine selection and starters. As a coeliac their gluten free options was quite limited, they do not have a separate menu and the waiter told me I could have the risotto and a couple of other mains. Which was fine for me as I was happy with the Milanese risotto. We got the cheese, Salami and Buratta starters to share (all gluten free) I was not offered gf bread though. The food and wine was lovely
Great foodLousy not friendly service .
Cesar salad is very good.Burata is out of this world
