Food is ok.
Serving staff needs improvement. They are not focused on their jobs. Had to remind them to bring our food and drinks. To my surprise, server never placed drunk order, when they finally arrived, server spilled drinks on table and unfortunately, food was served in disarray, not a favorable dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyCan we just start off with how AMAZING their food is!? Wow.
I was not expecting the dining experience I received. Their food is very good and definitely something to write home about!! The fish tins, A+, the bread A+, everything A+. Also have an eclectic wine selection and the server is very good at offering a glass based off your likes. Our server was great-he did a great job of explaining the menu and the wine.(he had a beard). The ambiance is also quite nice and modern.

Food is ok at best; it's Italian it is hard to go wrong: Stephanie; amazing bartender and person, extremely sweet and keeps it real. Manager was such a weird terrible person. Did not enjoy the "vibe" or attitude at all. This was during a dead time during the day. A grown man with a beard is all I have to say about him. Stop in for Stephanie and the bar team and good food; not necessarily the upper management. *I also don't usually do reviews I just got absolute mean level service from the manager specifically; which I think is unacceptable.

Such a welcome addition to The Hamptons, where there are too many boring and overpriced restaurants. Il Buco has interesting dishes; I tend to order a lot of appetizers for the table. The clams and anchovy dishes are both delicious. We love the wine list as well. If only they could open a second location on the beach...

Be the first to ReplyWe had a very enjoyable meal here.
The foccacia is like a whole pizza. The branzino was excellent. Our waitress was fab. Even when she forgot to bring us another fork, she realized, apologized and brought it out right away. They have a good wine and cocktail selection as well.
Be the first to ReplyFocaccia, small plates and pasta were great.
Duck disappointed and no pasta although their ig page shows it Cute location for a drink nothing more

Authentic and well prepared food. Come here often. Whole fish is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyI'm conflicted.
The food is amazing as always. Our waiter, Micheal, was absolutely the worst waiter I've encountered in my 40 years as a restaurant customer. He didn't ask if we wanted drinks, didn't ask if the food was satisfactory, didn't ask if we wanted dessert, etc. I asked to talk to the manager and believe it or not, they sent Michael to talk to me. He really needs to consider if working in the service industry is for him. He needs either a new attitude or a different job.

We came for a long weekend and loved our food so much on Friday that we had to come back again Sunday night. The service was incredible both nights- with both waiters being attentive even while managing a very busy full house, and our food came out very quickly. The ambiance was cozy, and the natural wood interior added such a beautiful earthy touch to the experience. We started with the Margherita Foccacia that had the perfect blend of sauce, cheese and spice. We followed that up with oysters that were already garnished with vinegar and tumeric, and for being my boyfriend's first go at oysters ever, even he was impressed. We then pivoted over to the carbonara that was phenomenal with the shave parmesan, thin, crisp pancetta, perfectly light sauce (which is hard to accomplish for a carbonara dish) and perfectly cooked al dente noodles. When browsing the online menu we had no clue that carbonara was going to even be offered and now will be returning to the city yearning for our next trip out to Amagansett for this delicious dish. We finished the night off with their chocolate cake, that they lightly dusted with cocoa powder and garnished with cherries. Overall an amazing dining experience and we highly recommend to anyone who is visiting town for a night. Make sure to snag a reservation beforehand as the restaurant books up quickly each night!
Be the first to ReplyWent in a Monday Night.
It was busy. Sat outside which turned out ok because the weather cooperated. They do have umbrellas. But if it's raining hard. You can't sit outside. The food was very good. Had the mushroom pizza. Excellent. Margarita pizza was good. Oysters. Very good. Tuna appetizer was ok. Shirt steak. Excellent. Half and chicken excellent. Broccolini delicious. Had two cucumber vodka drinks. Refreshing. It's the Hamptons. So it was not cheap. But within reason. Service was good. Went to see Donavan frankenreiter at the Talkhouse after. Super convenient. Recommended!

The ambiance was great, the server was super polite , however the food had NO flavor. We order the steak and octupus for dinner. Steak wasn't good at all had absolutely no flavor . The octupus was extremely hard to chew and definitely not fresh.
Be the first to ReplyIl Buco al Mare has 3.
5 stars on Yelp, which I would say is a pretty accurate rating. I would have gone with 4, but decided on 3 based on a few things from my dining experience:First off, my husband and I usually like to share a bunch of shareable things instead of ordering individual large mains. We ordered the following:Oysters - no complaints here, they were delicious. They were already dressed with vinegar and whatever else, it didn't come with condiments or anything.Crudo - yummy! So tasty. It also had little bits of mango in it and all the flavors really complemented well together. Margherita Focaccia - this was basically a Margherita pizza on focaccia bread. Really good! The bread was dense but delicious.Stuffed Squid Tin - this was interesting. It came with little slices of crostini with butter. It was just ok, but what was not so great was that as I was cutting into it on my plate I saw a small piece of hair- I was done eating after that. We told the waitress who took it off our bill, which was appreciated.Everything else we ordered: Prawns, Broccolini, and Roasted Corn - all of these were nothing special, but good!I would have given Il Buco a 4, but after the whole hair incident I bumped it down to a 3. The meal was good- not great, but not terrible either. Better than average I would say. Being in Amagansett where good restaurants are far and few in between, I would say this is one of the better ones. We also were able to make a reservation the day-of, and it was a pretty setting- good for an easy date night!

Had grilled octopus for the first time and it was amazing. Flatbread pizzas are interesting too

Ok we were in the area and decided to stop for dinner I was with my husband and 93 year old mom which is in pretty good shape may I say, with a name like that thinking at least there would be one pasta dish , ok no pasta then I ordered octopus what a joke they bring it in a thin can like u would be opening tuna fish at home!! I was ready to leave at that moment!!!, I can't even go on !!never again very disappointed!!!

First of all, this is a place you go to for fresh ingredients and brilliant tasting food. Every ingredient in your dish is there for a reason. My mouth is still watering post the dining experience. I would not bring my kids here to eat bc it's a meal you can really appreciate if you're able to enjoy it. Shout out to the awesome guys who took care of us (we sat at the bar). Corey and Christina, you were just as fabulous as the food! Thanks for making our night. We will definitely be back!!Class act all around.

Il Buco is the best spot in the area for a delicious dinner and great cocktails! Plus, we had a cool celebrity sighting when Trevor Noah was seated 2 tables down from us! A few other highlights:- The cocktails were a delight & special shout out to the cucumber vodka cocktail, which was - Food was all amazing and loved the clam appetizer, mushroom focaccia, octopus salad, & shrimp- The service was *incredible* with really attentive servers and great hosts- Awesome outdoor space that's perfect for summer timeDefinitely the place to go for an awesome dinner and drinks!

Great restaurant with the quality you would expect from the price. You could feel that the chef has put mind on the dish. Personally, would recommend the dessert, all three are amazing. Will definitely go again. But, it is indeed quite expensive. We have three people, and ate $150, still not really full after that...
Be the first to ReplyI'm surprised this restaurant has such low stars.
We had a lovely meal here on a Friday night offseason. I think it will be a lovely place to come when the weather is nicer and outdoor seating is available. The one down side to the restaurant is that it is really not gluten free friendly, so it was difficult for me to be able to share things with my husband. They could easily add gluten free pasta to the menu, but as of now they did not have many options for him. I would like to be able to return with friends so I can try more things, but I got: the white focaccia (essentially a pizza), which was delicious, and the potato was a unique addition. I took a couple slices home as I didn't want to fill up since my husband couldn't help me with this dish. I also ordered the cacio e pepe, which was cooked perfectly, but I wish it had a bit more cheese. My husband ordered the head on shrimp and the crudo. He also was able to enjoy a fish as his main dish. If they would be able to have more items be gluten free friendly, I thin we'd come back often in the summer.

In the way of great restaurants, I've generally found the east end lacking (not to say there aren't any, but there's a lot of mediocrity), but the food here was in fact really great! We shared a focaccia, the fluke crudo, the spaghetti with bottarga, the bucatini, the chicken, the broccolini and the sunchokes - everything was delicious. The potatoes that came with the chicken were out of this world- like candied yams or plantains but not in color or consistency - and the sunchokes were just beautiful. The pasta was perfectly cooked, really everything was perfect. We ended with the panna cotta but I wish I could've tried all of the desserts! Would highly recommend for a restaurant experience that is worth it, and will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyI don't understand the low stars.
This place is FANTASTIC! The ingredients are high quality and menu is thoughtful! One of the best places in the Hamptons. We love having late lunch here with our family. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.

The food was fantastic- it's been a while since I have been here so it's tough for me to remember everything we had but everything from salads to drinks to mains to deserts were delicious-- it's not an entree sort of place, it's more of a "shared plates" tapas style experience but all of it was very high quality and delicious. Tough during COVID restrictions and we had to show vaccination cards to be seated, but once seated we had a genuinely lovely experience with no stress. Just what we needed. Also nice to have the peace of mind that the windows and doors were open and breezy during the summer and everyone seated was vaccinated so relative risk was lower than in a closed in restaurant. The food was the highlight.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant that is thankfully open all year.
My colleagues and I stopped in and all chose to go with a focaccia (Don't call it pizza!) albeit different versions. I'd love to try the other menu items but if I had to live off of their focaccia for the rest of my life I'd be a pretty happy person. The combination and flavors were absolutely delicious. I went with the Roasted Mushroom and I chose wisely. My colleagues ordered the Eggplant and Anchovy and also a Bianca. They were both outstanding as well but I'm a big fan of mushrooms. I tried all three as sharing is strongly encouraged here. The wait staff were super friendly and we even got to talk with the chef for a bit of background on the restaurant and area. I hope to visit Amagansett again so I can return to this lovely establishment.
