Truly an unforgettable experience.
Service was 10/10. The A5 wagyu was fatty and melted in your mouth. It paired well with the truffle salt and wasabi. All the side dishes were complimentary and so refreshing. I would say it was worth it for $130 pp, but they removed that option from the menu..
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and great meat quality!! You get what you pay
Great service and great meat quality!! You get what you pay for at more than 100$ per person. If you are a carnivore then you will LOVE IT The meats are fatty. Succulent and umami rich. My favorite dipping was the truffle salt and the wasabi and my favorite cut was the marinated short rib. It was AMAZING. the meats are very very rich so unless you're built different you can only handle so many refills. My group only lasted 3 refills before we couldn't handle anymore. I had my doubts on the staff cooking for you but they do a very efficient job. It would be a lot better if they let the customer cook themselves since they are very strict on their dining time limit. A must try if you love beef but pricy. Good experience
Be the first to ReplyThe meat was amazing.
We were very full after going and wished we hadn't added any extras on as we were too full to finish our beef which was the star of the meal. The service was great.

The food was good, but they had some issues splitting my check. They managed to charge the whole bill to my card, then only split the check between me and myself, and then finally actually split the check. The whole process took ~40 minutes and they were not very apologetic.

I am confident that this was one of the best and most special meals of my life. Hyun knocks it out of the park with service and quality. Our chef did a great job explaining the cuts and recommending the pairings. The kimchi and scallion salad was delicious - easily the best kimchi I've had. Don't skimp on the meat - come with an empty stomach and prepare for rich and incredible bites of some of the finest beef. Worth every penny. Great spot for special occasions. I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyThis may be the best meal my husband and I have ever had,
This may be the best meal my husband and I have ever had, honestly. The service, food, ambiance were all excellent. Note that they only have one wagyu option now - 12 cuts and a marinated meat encore for $159/person. I believe they used to have a lower price option but this is no longer available. We started out with two of their cocktails, the Korean perilla mojito and the Cloud remedy. The mojito was fine, I probably wouldn't get it again. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing special. My husband enjoyed the Cloud Remedy. The Hyuanmakase comes with sides such as salad and kimchi that really help to cut the richness of the meats - great pairings. Also comes with accompaniments such as truffle salt and wasabi to top the meats, highly recommend the truffle salt on almost any of the cuts. The tableside chef will tell you the recommended accompaniments for each cut which was appreciated. You can get additional premium sides for additional $ but we opted not to (other than side of rice for $4). The chef will grill some square pieces of toast with some of the cuts - I wasn't expecting that toast to pair so well or be anything special but those were the best bites. We've had A5 waygu a few times before, but this was by far the highest quality yet. We ordered a bottle of sake about half way through and the recommended bottle was very refreshing to sip on in between courses. We got one full "encore" (pick your 3 favorite cuts) of the ribeye, filet, and shoulder cuts, and then they let us do an additional encore of just the upper cut (4th favorite) since we were too full for another full encore of 3. Loved the spacious seating and privacy of restaurant, and overall experience was simply wonderful. Bill came out to $610 after tip so definitely not an every day thing, but highly recommend for special occasions. The ONLY recommendation I'd have for the restaurant would be to label the different cuts somehow. They go over it with you at the beginning but after it's cooked and put on your plate it's hard to keep track of what is what which makes it more difficult to remember/identify your favorites for the encore(s).

The food was delicious but what happened at the end was embarrassing and disappointing. My husband and I went on a date to finally try Japanese A5 wagyu AYCE. The food and the ambience were truly great and so was the service DURING our stay. Once we were done, we received the bill which already had the 20% gratuity included. (I found that odd because that's usually automatically applied for parties of 6 or greater) Since we realized that the gratuity was already included, we did not add additional gratuity. As we were leaving the restaurant, one of the waiters stopped us and asked if there was an issue with the service and assumed that we did not include a tip. We told him to look at the receipt which said that gratuity was already included WHICH is the reason why we did not add on more. The waiter walked away and did not apologize. Our delightful experience turned into an embarrassment which is not fair for the very expensive price that we paid. Once again, the food was delicious but just be careful because the staff clearly isn't trained on proper etiquette and customer service.

Date of Visit: 2/8/2024 When I heard of an A5 Wagyu Omakase (Chef choice) in NYC, I knew I had to try it. Had many Sushi Omakase but never a meat one and even less an A5 Wagyu one! The restaurant is located on E 33rd street right in the middle of Koreatown in Manhattan ATMOSPHERE/DECO The deco is minimalist but very clean and modern. The restaurant consists of semi private booths and it did not have a smell or any smoke which can be a problem with Korean BBQ sometimes. SERVICE Being an Omakase restaurant, I actually got my own private chef that cooked all the meat for me. Can't complain about that. I do trust my cooking skills, but those cuts of meats were expensive and being that A5 can cook super quick, so I would hate to be my own chef and had to eat well done meat all night! I had several waiters came to the table to serve drinks, and side dishes, I never had to wait for anything and was very impressed by the service. PRICE This is a splurge restaurant, definitely not your Tuesday night Applebee's! It's a simple menu, one option, the 12 cuts Omakase for $159 but it does include unlimited rounds of meats (3 cuts at the time) after the 12 first cuts. There are several things you can add such as soup, salad, noodles or even truffle uni rice. FOOD Simply amazing, I can't remember exactly what the 12 cuts of A5 Wagyu were, but I do remember my favorites, the middle rib, the ribeye cap and the tenderloin, which are the cuts I got during my second round. You also get some lettuce leafs to make wraps, a side salad, a spicy green onion salad and some homemade kimchi. They do use white toast bread to soak the fat off the grilling surface and to rest the meat once it's cook and before you ready to eat it (as I know people will ask about the bread in the picture! Lol) The food also come with two type of salt, freshly grated wasabi (which is always a treat) and some Korean bean paste. I did order some Korean grilling cheese as well, and that was probably something I could have done without as it was nothing special. Now you do get unlimited rounds (3 meats at the time) after the first 12, but honestly the meat is so so rich you won't be able to do more than 1-2 extra rounds. I consider myself a hardcode carnivore and could only do one extra round. I highly recommend finishing with the homemade Shiso sorbet, it definitely helps cutting all the fat you just ate and it taste delicious and refreshing MISCELLEANOUS They do have a very good selection of sake, cocktails and a few beers (only one on draft , Ashahi super dry). They also have wines and champagne, and about 10-12 by the glass options. The restaurant has no parking but that is the norm in Manhattan so that is not a big problem, and while the sign on the building is small, it is easy to see and find! The bathroom was clean and well stocked. In conclusion, this was a great experience, the food, service , atmosphere, everything was top notch. But yes, unless you are one of those wolves of Wall Street or got into Bitcoin at $100 , that is only going to be a special occasion treat!! La note de Sebo Atmosphere/Deco 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Price 4/5 Misc. 5/5 OVERALL 5/5

All you can eat high-end meat in a gorgeous venue with private booths Yes, it's expensive but you're getting good quality cuts of meat. Yes, it's timed and the second portions of meat can be smaller. However, all of us were stuffed at the end, and we definitely got our moneys worth. This is not a light meal. You have been warned. Probably not the best venue for first dates. We love the accompaniments, including the different salts, sauces. The waiter/cook did a great job with recommendations for the different cuts and what flavor profiles work. We loved dipping the bread in the pan (yes we probably clogged an artery but YOLO) Overall cost was about 225 per person counting tip
Be the first to ReplyA classy & highly carnivorous Valentine's Day pick.
Location: Slow jazz & minimalistic, dark-wood decor lend to an upscale dining experience. Service: More hands-on as they cook all the wagyu for you. Starts off with a hot scented hand towel & involves frequent, friendly check-ins. Food: The Hyun-makase (w/ one encore) left me FULL. The two salads were delicious palate cleansers & the housemade kimchi was pungent in the best way. The 12 cuts are split into 3 sections: ribs, fattier/densier cuts, and lean cuts (clearly paid attention oops), paired w truffle salt, real wasabi, and wine-infused salt respectively. Ended w a round of marinated kalbi. My favorite were the ribs, which worked well wrapped in a ssam. The meat is cooked alone -- no oil or butter needed; it was rich, fatty, buttery, and filling. They surprised us with a V Day chocolate mousse, which was delicious but decadent. I left stuffed. Pre-tip/tax this was $159 per person. I personally wouldn't return unless someone else paid the bill again lol.

This place food was great , the experience was amazing until I was walking out the place and I was stopped by one of the servers because I only left a $30 tip . mind you I just spent $370 for 1 hour that I was there . This extremely unprofessional and will never return
Be the first to ReplySnatched the last reservation of the night for 2.
Very minimalistic and back-lit vibes. You could smell the wagyus cooking and couldn't wait to have it! The service was amazing. We had a dedicated person grilling for us, but the rest of the staff was very attentive, floating around filling our water and tea constantly and refilling our banchans. The banchancs were fairly good. Everyone was so knowledgeable and kind. Overall, great service! We got the hyun-makase A without the marinated wagyu. The first course had 9 different cuts of wagyu. Beautifully marbled meats. Our griller was very kind and explained everything and conversed with us. There were a few times we had to wait a bit since he was grilling for another table next to us. For our first encore you can only choose 3 different cuts at a time, so we asked for more ribeye, short rib, and neck. Then for the rest of the night we had him bring out whatever the chef chose. We were not disappointed. Our last set, we got extra cuts. Every piece was perfectly cooked to medium rare and melted in our mouths. The truffle salt enhanced the flavor so well!
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing experience with their ayce wagyu.
Be careful of eating too much or else your stomach will feel queezy from all the delicious fatty meats, certainly very difficult to do. I recommend upgrading to the ayce that gives you additional cuts. Very cool to see the interesting texture and taste differences in the wagyu. Service was really amazing too! The wait staff did an awesome job describing each cut and helping us get our value. The restaurant ambiance was also very sleek and modern. Definitely go but reservations are pretty much required.
Be the first to ReplyHyun is an experience that every meat lover needs to have.
The restaurant decor is minimalistic and sophisticated, but they don't have a waiting area if you arrive early to your reservation. Be warned, I have gone twice and both times I've interacted with the same 1 server who is incredibly rude. He's not hospitable or helpful at all. I'm not sure if he's a server or just does the drinks, but he deflates the experience each time I go. He looks and speaks to you with a RBF and a tone of annoyance. Each time I mean to complain but the rest of the servers are so kind that I don't. Aside from the one server, the rest of them are so kind and inviting. They explain everything in detail and have great recommendations. The wagyu gets really rich, really fast so I definitely recommend to pace yourself and pair each piece with something acidic like the salad or kimchi. My favorites are usually the ribeye and the top sirloin. The rice bowl is also very rich and pairs well with the rice. I'm not one for sea urchin when it's warm or cooked but it was still enjoyable. I would highly recommend the wagyu broth cold noodles. It's an amazing refresher during the meal and helps to cut rhe richness. The cocktails are good but I personally like getting sake or soju instead. I'm a sucker for their yuzu sake which is sweet and light to start with. I do highly recommend getting their desserts. You're definitely going to be so full but save room for the dessert. Their hojicha ice cream is delicious and their sorbet is so refreshing after all the protein. The second time I went as a celebration for residency grad/the start of fellowship interviews and they gave us their house mousse which was to die for. Overall I would recommend Hyun as a must experience in nyc!

Came here for my birthday and I must say this is a very expensive meal! When it's AYCE wagyu beef, of course it will be pricey. All in all, I would return again but probably only for special occasions. The service and food was great - no complaints at all. They cook it for you and all you have to do is enjoy the beef! After the initial tasting (9 pieces) they allow up to 3 cuts per order. We ordered probably 4x after the tasting and we were stuffed! We got the wagyu cold noodles too and it was perfect to balance out all the fatty beef. The side dishes compliment it well too to cut down the fat. 5/5 stars, definitely recommend!!

Very fair price for good quality meat! First time trying real thick slices of wagyu and it has completely changed what I thought about it. There is a personal chef per table to grill your meat and answer questions about each cut. Loved the meal!
Be the first to ReplyMy bf and I had a wonderful dinner here on a Thursday night.
Reservations were hard to get, but turn your Resy notifications "on" and keep checking! It will be well worth the effort to secure a spot. If you are celebrating something special, definitely mark it during your reservation. It was my bf's birthday and the staff gave us a warm welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. We felt like vip's during the whole experience.Food: We ordered the AYCE Set B - 15 cuts with marinated short rib wagyu (delicious!). The chef starts grilling the 15 cuts in intervals. Take special note of your favorites because the AYCE portion is you choosing your top "3" cuts for your next set. You can tell right away that the meat is fresh and high quality. The marbling was oomph. You get a small set of banchan with your order - kimchi, salad, bean sprouts and lettuce wrap. This is also unlimited so keep ordering more if you run out. It helped cut through all the meat and fat from the wagyu. We ordered the cheese as a side, but we would have been fine with just the banchan. The cheese is grilled and sliced - similar to Queso Frito. The waiter described it as the cheese you would normally get on a Korean Cheese-Dog. For drinks, our waiter recommended a Korean spritz (non-alcohol). It was very light and citrusy, a perfect combination as we ate the heavy wagyu. For dessert (because we definitely needed something sweet after), we ordered the bingsu - shaved ice. It was made in front of us and very light. I preferred this over the ice cream and sorbet options. We also got chocolate mousse (free) since we were celebrating a birthday. This was absolutely delicious. I don't normally like chocolate, but this was amazing.Overall: It was definitely a dent in the wallet, but VERY well-worth the price point given the quality of the food and experience. It is a LOT of meat. I couldn't finish my portion because it was so heavy. Take advantage of the banchan to help cut through all the fat and something citrusy for a drink. The staff was attentive throughout the entire night. Special shoutout to Tim and Shin who were absolutely amazing and made our dinner super special.
Be the first to ReplyI do not suggest this place for a group of more than six
I do not suggest this place for a group of more than six people. We had around eleven in our party and only had one staff member cooking the meat for us. Granted, he did a great job and was very knowledgeable about the wagyu. However, since he had to service both tables, we couldn't get the full ayce experience. The ayce experience is indeed timed to 90 minutes. Also, we had to wait a while for our drinks too. They got our mocktails wrong a few times, too. It was very strange. I do appreciate how they were able to accommodate the group even though on resy/ OpenTable, it didn't look like there were times available. I emailed them a couple of times to change the number of people on the reservation. They obliged, and I had to remember that it would cost $130 pp if one person canceled.Anyways, for the food review, all of the meat was really good. It was a great experience to have, as I've never ordered so much wagyu in one setting before. The entire group except three people got the B menu. It consists of 15+ special cuts and marinated meat. The banchan or the small dishes that came with it weren't much. You can order other dishes, and I did try the naeng-kalguksu, which tasted really different from other ones I've tried at other places. The broth did taste different, probably because it had no meat inside of it. All in all, I did like the meat and the seasoning on the side, especially the truffle salt.

The best food and service ever!! Their wagyu melted in my mouth. The best all you can eat. There are private seats that is beautiful and nice atmosphere. I recommend this place for a event like birthday or anniversary. I will definitely come back!!

The ultimate feast at HYUN is their all you can eat A5 Japanese Wagyu! This place is a great place to splurge and have as much wagyu as possible. We ordered the HYUN-makase set A ($130) which came with 9 different cuts of wagyu. Every piece is so flavorful and melts in your mouth. I also love the side salads and lettuce wraps to help balance out the fattiness of the meats. And the truffle salt they give to add to the meat is amazing!I will say, the meal felt pretty heavy towards the end (we ordered 4 total rounds) and a lot of meats began to taste somewhat similar since they all have a lot of fat. It's still a good spurge to try this spot though if you can get a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyOnce you taste the Wagyu beef, you'll never go back to
Once you taste the Wagyu beef, you'll never go back to regular steak, actually I still would, cos I don't have that kind of money We started with banchans which were all premium quality, even the truffle salt, it's so good. The banchans are unlimited, which is a plus. We ordered additional uni to go with our Wagyu, it's a must!!The service was A+, our server was attentive, and he made sure our cups are full and our plates are not empty. For $150 per person, I think it's all worth it. Im giving a 4 star because, after a while you get "tired" of the fatty taste. I would pay for just one round of service next time.

I made a reservation a couple of months in advance, and I can honestly say this place is well worth the wait. You first get a box of 9 cuts of wagyu beef. After that initial round, you get to order three of yours cuts at a time until you're covered in meat sweats. Came hungry, and definitely left full.
Be the first to ReplyIf there's one place that can give you a heart attack.
..this is it. Unlimited a5 wag? Sounds too good to be true but its not. Its real, and yes, you're heart will probably hurt after eating here so go work out before and after and for the rest of the week because you'll want to eat least everything twice.Get a shit ton of wasabi so you can keep it going.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying HYUN with my best friend.
this spot honestly hit all the expectations that we had for the meat. We were definitely more towards the lean meat. since the waiter actually spoke pretty fast I wasn't sure which meat was which but I was able to ask him for the meat that was leaner. The atmosphere was very nice, with the rooms being separated. we got set A $130 with tips included it was around $170 pp for ayce a5 wagyu sounds like a pretty good deal for us. the meats definitely filled us up, they look small at first but the more you eat the more filler you get. we had a really great time there. you only get to eat for 90 mins and any meat that you leave left over you face to pay a $25 dollar fee pp so try to only order what you can eat. Overall we had a wonderful experience only con I had was the waiter spoke really fast and I wasn't sure what he was saying. I was just nodding my head like I knew what he was saying lol. but it's okay everything was good so not disappointed at all

My second time here was a bit disappointing, not because of the food, it's still top notch. The 90 minute rule is a bit sketchy, depending on who you ask, the answer to when it starts varies. Is it when you come in? Get your menu? When the course starts? Who knows? We got the 7 course tasting which went up from 135 dollars to 210 since the last time I was there. It's still worth it. My issue was with our unbelievably rude and unprofessional "grill master". Since we got the tasting, it was a hour before the meat was served, I noticed how slow he was moving and wondered about the time. We had ordered sides as well that needed to be grilled. I asked him if he could put the cheese on the grill with the meat and he said no and went into a rant about how this isn't Philly cheesesteak and this is quality meat and proceeded to tell me what meat we are eating, like why do you think I am here you dummy? He was so condescending and rude, also it's a firm cheese, it's not like it would melt into the meat. I felt like many times the meal was being stalled so we would ultimately run out of time. There was one cut I couldn't get because he said we were out of time. They need to get it together, either charge more, say that we aren't going to give you more than 2 encores, be clear about when the time starts, maybe I just won't get sides then or opt out of the tasting menu because at the end of the day we are really their for the meat. I did discuss my issues with the manager and he said it must have been a miscommunication with the grill master. Yeah, ok, I think I understand when I am being talked down to, an apology and coaching their staff on how to speak to customers would have been better.
