Great but shame about the breakfast
Great location and great rooms. The receptionist was just wonderful but the restaurant was closed when we arrived which was annoying. The breakfast was disappointing as no hot food was served and when we asked for an omelette we got a pancake which was amusing and bizarre at the same time. Great location, great rooms very spacious but couldn’t enjoy it as it rained a lot while we were there. Would recommend it but not the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyBad experience : nice house but cold atmosphere and unworthy service
Beautiful old house with a view of the vineyards decorated in a fairly contemporary way. Restaurant tested for dinner with very qualitative dishes. Suite on the top floor, spacious but extremely expensive (more than 450€ per night) compared to the expected quality. -> Very cold welcome and unworthy of the paid price: On arriving (around 4 p.m.) no one was at the reception. We had to wait a long time for the waiters from the restaurant to come and give us our keys : they didn't even come with us to our room and didn’t know anything about the furnitures of the room (they didn’t know the bathtub was out of order). Upon arriving, several problems: no air conditioning, bathtub out of order (we have 2 young children so it was one of our selection criteria). The manager of the hotel arrived at our request by hearing this asked us without apologizing: « what do you want? Then: if you want to leave no problem ». We got a glass of refreshment for each after insisting. No smile, no pleasant words, no attention (everything has to be paid, room service at 30€ for each order, no bottle of welcome water, no coffee machine or tea: just a paying mini bar). -> The bathtub was out of order (the tap was broken (no one had told us)). -> Very basic cleaning (see attached photos): there was still hair, cobwebs, dead insects in the toilet and dead spider on the sheets of the bed, dust on top of the hi-fi system, behind and under the furniture... -> no air conditioning contrary to what is advertised on the hotel website and Booking website (it's just a ventilation in the walls on which we cannot act): portable air conditioning was installed only the day after our arrival in the living room which helped to refresh the air a little but not very effective (we had however reported it as soon as we arrived it was nearly 30 degrees in the room) Fans are provided in addition but this is not enough to sleep well given the heat in the middle of August. -> Swimming pool not clean (leaf and earth at the bottom) and out of order outdoor shower. -> Breakfast: the products are good, served on the plate but everything comes in drops, the butter had expired for almost a month Long waiting -> The staff: in the restaurant our server was smiling and helpful, but on the other hand for the rest it was clearly not up to standard: impression of disturbing, no one comes to see us at the swimming pool to find out if we want something thing. Because of all the things described, we asked for a discount and we had 5% on the room price (40€) : low for the inconvenience. In short, very bad experience, we will never return to this hotel where the manager has work to give a soul and warmth to her business. It’s a shame…
Be the first to ReplyA jewel in Slovenian wine country
Friendly staff. Great room. We were on bicycles and the location in wine country was stunning. The food and wine experience (we let the chef choose the courses and wine) at dinner was second to none. We also learned about the joy of good cheese and honey with a charcuterie board for lunch. Just a jewel of a hotel.
Be the first to ReplyMixed feelings
Mixed feelings : the place is spotless, rooms facing the valley are spacious, stylish ,a bit too much "slatish" may be, very quiet , beautiful view on the valley below and the vineyards and yet we didn't feel comfortable : the atmosphere was cold. Staff are polite , efficient ,a bit too distant . don't look for a caring attitude there. Senior citizens will find the height to climb in the bathtub and the absence of a grip to secure a safe in and out of it ,quite challenging. The same goes for the stairs leading to the dining room . Also missing in the sitting room area of the bedroom: proper lighting for reading. Talking about the restaurant: expect menus of several courses -_whether you like it or not-_tiny portions and no ersatz should you not like one item on the menu. The first two items were okay but the last one frustrated me. Breakfast is excellent. I would recommend the place for a one night stay because of the location and the restaurant on site. After a full day of sightseeing in the region, this is convenient.
Be the first to ReplyStunning scenery, peaceful surroundings
We took a minor detour on our holiday to stay here and it certainly proved worth it. We only stayed for the night but there really wasn’t any need for us to leave once we arrived. We were blessed with very decent weather which made the setting even more impressive but put simply the scenery was spectacular from every angle. With only a handful of rooms our stay was extremely peaceful and we had no objection to occupying ourselves for a number of hours around the pool, which we pretty much had to ourselves. The room was extremely spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable; not entirely sure why the hotel hasn’t been judged to be Five Star. The staff were extremely accommodating; nothing was too much trouble and they were gracious enough to allow us to hang around by the pool for a couple of hours after we checked out. On top of this, dinner was fantastic (I would recommend turning up on an empty stomach as it was a colossal five course meal). In short, we had a terrific time and wished we could have stayed for longer.
Be the first to ReplyHistoric building close to the Italian border
We stayed at this hotel with our cycling group. Overall it's a great little hotel overlooking some vineyards located just a few hundred feet from the Italian border. The hotel has a great little restaurant and a very impressive wine cellar. The rooms are big - they had a separate living room and a bedroom in ours. There was a kettle and a coffee maker on our floor so we could make ourselves some tea. There is an unheated outdoor pool which sits above the ground with a few lounge chaises next to it. In a typical Slovenian fashion the doors are locked at night and you need a card to get inside. As usual the guests make half of the hotel impression. The highlight of ours was a drunk British guy who lost his card and was yelling loudly to let him in in the middle of the night. I felt a bit sorry for people at the reception because they were friendly and accommodating and didn't deserve this treatment. On a negative side WiFi barely worked in the rooms. I think they had simple signal repeaters and not a full mesh network - needs improvement
Be the first to ReplyWish we could have stayed longer...
Beautiful inn in Brda wine country. Truly a picturesque location. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant excellent. The room was well appointed, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely coming back
Gredič is definitely worth visiting. Rooms are very clean and well designed, staff is extremely friendly especially Nina at the reception. She made our experience even nicer. Always there if u wanted a glass or a bottle of wine and always professional and frinedly. Don’t forget to reserve a seat at the dinner which is exceptional by the way. Wine tastings are also a must!
Be the first to ReplyGourmet experience and one night stay
Very kind employees with professional attitude and very responsive. They gave me all the information needed, they responded to my e-mails very quickly. The food is angelic, delicious, I really cannot over-praise it. Rooms are exceptionally confortable, clean, with great views. The nature is magnificent. I strongly recommend it! We will definitely do it again, I hope very soon!
Be the first to ReplyHotel heaven!
What a breathtaking place! I had been to the wine cellar a few times and always dreamt of spending the night at the hotel—it’s stunning! A beautiful old chateaux-turned-boutique-hotel with a turquoise pool. When I finally got the chance to stay, I was not disappointed. The views from our room were just spectacular, with hills and vineyards as far as the eye could see. It is set in a peaceful and reclusive location—perfect for disconnection, but still close enough to amenities that it’s convenient. They have an excellent selection of wine and serve it with a smile and lots of knowledge about it. The staff was kind and friendly and anticipated our needs perfectly. I can’t wait to stay here again—next time for a little longer!
Be the first to ReplyThe perfect getaway
This hotel has 7 rooms and it is only couple of hundred meters from Italian border. It is renovated with attention to detail and the service is impeccable. Although there was a group of women that were celebrating something at the hotel and were quite noisy when at the pool, our stay was pleasant. Breakfast was good, although coffee could be better. Hotel has a separate terrace for hotel guests that features a photogenic pool overlooking the hills. Vila Vipolže is a quick walk away. Prices of drinks and food were normal (cheese platter was 10eur for 2 and very good). It is perfect for couples. We will be back. Hotel also has amazing wine celler and they can arrange you various wine tastings.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful location, beautiful hotel, but some issues
We were stunned when we drove up to this beautiful boutique hotel, it really is something special. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was very modern and convenient, bed was also very comfortable. Relaxing by the pool while overlooking the vineyards was pure bliss, especially with a glass of wine from the magnificent cellar in hand. There is also a terrace, where you can spend your evening. We felt right at home and loved the decor of the place.
Sadly, we had some issues. The biggest one was the aircon. The system in the room does not work properly. We set it to the lowest temperature, but it was still boiling hot in our room so we could barely sleep. When we asked about it, they said the aircon was inside the walls and didn’t work that well. We got a better fan than the one that was standard, but it leaked water. When we signalled that, the lady brought an extra towel, shrugged her shoulders and hoped for the best.
Breakfast was on the small side, but good quality. First day they offered us coffee and asked if we wanted eggs, the next day we were ignored. So we asked for coffee, which didn’t seem to please the only staff member hovering around the buffet. Maybe it wasn’t his job, but there was no one else available. And they didn’t ask if we wanted eggs that time, while they did ask other guests.
If everything would have worked properly and if the service had been better, it would have been heaven. Sadly, this was not totally the case.
Poor wine tasting service
We went to do the wine tasting with a group of people coming from different countries but all in love with the Slovenian wine. The only big plus of the tasting was the wine itself - extremely good and we've experienced some good wine tasting in Slovenia before. But the waiter or sommelier or whoever he was put absolutely no effort in explaining something more than what wine we're drinking, from which producer, which year and what taste should we fell - he poured the wine and left for 10 or 15 minutes. No communication whatsoever. He could sell much more wine if at least he would make some conversation with us. It was really a pity.
Be the first to ReplyStunning hotel overlooking vineyards and hills
This was a surprise. Converted chateau overlooking farms and vineyards of Slovenia. The rooms and hotel are modern and very comfortable. Food was just great. Massive wine cellar which you can walk through below the hotel lobby. Really enjoyed my short stay here.
Be the first to ReplyNicely renovated castle
The hotel is a 17th century Slovenian castle, located just 300 m from the Italian border. The area is a lovely, hilly, wine region with picturesque views from the hilltops and from the hotel windows. The property is part of a wine estate.
The building was restored in 2012 with modern techniques resulting in just a few, large, well-equipped rooms with all modern amenities and a modern minimalist style.
Separated toilet and walk-in shower in a luxury bathroom, coffee and tea making facilities in the lounge outside the room on the same floor.
The building also houses a restaurant and a wine cellar from which the owners sell their wines.
Friendly reception, very quiet neighbourhood, parking in front of the hotel.
We had a fine diner in the hotel restaurant, accompanied by two large groups of vocal locals.
We were very pleased with our choice and the local wine.
Breakfast was in the restaurant, overlooking the valley with the vineyards. Choice was OK but the presentation of it all somewhat poor, tucked away in a corner. Bread rolls were extremely small, as were the cuts of cheese, barely 3 square cm cut in a triangle.
Conclusion: Very nice hotel and restaurant at a beautiful location, but too expensive for the location and the staff’s competences.
