Great place.
We picked this place because it was near by, and we got lucky because it turned out to be the best place to taste and experience local Austrian wines.

We didn't have a reservation so arrived right when they opened but with a very limited menu but it was delicious and the service so warm and impeccable. I wish we had more time to come back for a full, leisurely dinner.

I have to admit that being a Michelin-rated wine bar was a big motive for us to go there . My fiancee and I were celebrating and decided to go for a drink. It was a bit after 10pm on a weekday in August. It's nicely decorated with plenty of seats inside and outside . We sat ourselves inside and got a menu . Despite the fact that there were not a lot of customers and they did in fact have at least 5 people working, we waited 10-15 minutes and finally had to wave down a waiter to take our otder. Even after our conversation with the waiter we had to take it upon ourselves to find the sommelier to seek his guidance for our selection. Up to that moment we were not happy and we were considering leaving but after that conversation with the wine master and his help everything changed. As per his recommendation, we ordered a Brunello 2012 from Casanova DiNeri from Tuscany. That wine was the best wine I've ever had- a bold wine with some spice. I totally recommend you order it. I completely forgot about a beautiful cheese/ meat plate we had with wine but who flipping cares, that wine was a meal not just a drink .

We came for lunch on a weekday, and it was essentially private dining on the covered patio. As a wine bar, they have tons of wines by the glass at 1/8 L pours (also by the bottle and some fancier ones for 1/16L pours). For our last day in Vienna, we stuck with Austrian wines and went with two blaufrankisches, both of which were really good and on the more full bodied side. Bread and butter were some of the better ones we've had in Central Europe - €4 for the two (as opposed to a cover charge). Tap water is free.Food: - Charcuterie plate - we got a 36 month ham from Austria that's supposed to be like their version of pata negra. It had some of the nuttiness of iberico and was good but not the same- Veal tartare: great flavor on the tartare - probably one of the best I've had. It had a great ratio of ingredients and was super fresh. Most interesting was that it was topped with shaved aged Belper Knolle for great texture and flavor - I wish this cheese were more readily available in the US- Braised beef: on the saltier side, which was fine by me - the dumplings with it were great - light and soufflé like but slightly browned on the outside The setting was nice, and I guess it's just not common to go to a place like this for lunch on a weekday? If I came again, I probably wouldn't get the same ham and braised beef again, but I could eat the tartare all day and will probably compare other tartares to this one in the future. Bonus: cool decor overhead when you walk in (wine crates assembled into art work basically) and super clean bathrooms.

So, while a nice little setting and atmosphere, and the charcuterie tray was pretty good, my "caveat emptor" is to make sure that you are very specific about what wine and type of water that you want. Otherwise, you will be automatically brought out a very expensive wine and water choice. I was just very frustrated to ask for a "merlot" and the 16 euro version was brought. Ignorance on my part, I admit, but this is the only place in my 10 days in Vienna that took advantage of me in that way. So again, buyer beware and very specific.

Tried the charcuterie board, delicious. Bacon was the best. Beautiful interior!
