Harry Cipriani® New York Reviews from The Last Year
Great food, even better time.
I'm making sure this is 85 characters long because it's required by Yelp. 5 stars.

We ate at Cips @ Belmond Cipriani in Venice Italy and was excited to dine while in NYC! The food and service were exceptional!! We loved the ambiance, decor and the our apps and entrees were five stars! I'd highly recommend for a classic, elegant dining experience while in NYC!!

To be honest my dumbass went here and ordered a steak out of all things. 100% not worth it, no flavor on any strip. After the first bite I said "lemme try another piece see if they'll be some flavor" none at all. Oh and that "famous" cake, not worth it. Definitely would get a better one from a deli that has a "little bakery". Oh yeah and the seats are horrible.
Italian style dining.
I enjoyed a Dover sole special and a delicious butternut squash soup appetizer. The ambiance reminds me of being in a living room and the dining area is moderately lit. The service was exceptional and the water kept coming. I enjoyed their bottled water and I see many complaints for the charge, but that's what you get for good water. Not shocking I frequent restaurants of this caliber often. Good service, good food. This isn't your nonnas kitchen. The food is as expected.
The Maitre D must set the tone for this awful place.
I think he needs to find a different career - he's obviously burned out. I've not been here in my 25 years in NYC. When we arrived, this man was screaming at the staff - literally in our ears at the host desk. The food was okay - certainly not exceptional The service marginal. On the way out the same Maitre D kept us from leaving to let others pass that did not seem to want to follow him. He has real trouble reading the customers and honestly does not treat us well. The experience was not good overall. Don't do it.
World Famous Classy Venetian Restaurant in Manhattan - Inventor of Bellini Cocktail!
This is same restaurant chain that evolved from the world famous Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy. The owner in Venice invented the Bellini cocktail about a century ago. Pricey but top class in all categories. Tight seating in a crammed but comfortable setting. Very European.
Never in my life have I been thrown out of a restaurant.
Walked in with my friend at 4pm on a Tuesday. We went towards the bar and immediately a staff member shouted across the room "THE BAR IS CLOSED" and was shaking his head no as in we should leave. The restaurant was pretty much empty but the few people there turned to look at us. So embarrassing!!! I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again.
Save your money - really don’t bother
Meh…. I’ve been a client of Cipriani in London, Dubai and Monaco so no stranger to the formula. Harry’s Cipriani in the Sherry Netherland hotel NYC is such a sad reflection on the brand. In London, Dubai & Monaco they’re fabulous venues but here you can touch the ceilings - YOU CAN LITERALLY REACH UP AND TOUCH THE CEILING!!! The wine list starts (once you’ve added tax and the compulsory 20% NYC tip) at $140 a bottle for an unremarkable bottle. A shared starter, 2 x mains (grilled veal, grilled chicken no sides) a bottle of house white and the obligatory enormous service fee $400. I don’t mind paying for a bit of Cipriani theatre but there wasn’t any. Value for money this place sucks. The service was great the food was ok. Tourists and kids.
We've been going to Harry's for a few years now.
However, before today, we have only been once with our baby. Today, I was told that the restaurant and bar were closed when it was clearly open. I was told this strictly because I was with my baby. After we were allowed in, we were told it was because they didn't allow strollers, yet we've been there with a stroller before. At the time, the restaurant and bar were not packed. We came at an off hour when there was one person at the bar and many empty tables. Today I came with just my girl friend, though. Normally I come with my husband. They do tend to treat me better when I'm with him than when I show up with any girl friends. As a Sicilian, their food is mediocre, but overall, we have continued to go there because the staff is usually nice and it is a convenient location. Had we been treated differently, we would have happily spent $500+ dollars on dinner and drinks. After giving them many second chances, I do not think we will be back.

Impeccable service, delicious food and elegant but welcoming ambiance. Perfect place to plan a special meal during the Holidays.
Great place to enjoy an evening
Food is good, service is excellent and vibe is great. Only thing I don’t like about this place (and the other restaurants from this group) is the wine service. Those minuscule wine glasses, that are the signature of this restaurant group, remind me of those old trattorias where we use to drink Straw Bottle Chianti. If you go, order the house wine and you will be fine.
Joke
Is this a joke?! Staff had a bad attitude. Everyone stares as you walk in. Feels like you are being judged the entire time. Tables are way too close together and the lights should be dimmed, especially for dinner. We were asked what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down and hadn’t had any chance to look at the menu. Then we ordered food (just one ‘main’ dish each, no starter). Came out in less than 5 minutes and was a TINY plate of pasta each for $40. Tasted good but what a rip off, it’s laughable. I got hit in the back with a table leg as the staff were moving around furniture behind us. No one apologised. At this point I just wanted to leave - but it felt like we were being forced to stay and eat more. We declined and we were given the bill without even asking for it, even though we still had our drinks to finish. Just felt like we were being rushed out the entire time. As we collected our coats, we were quite aggressively asked if the food was good (which it was). We have been to the Mayfair Cipriani and I loved it. This place is horrible

Years ago, my ex and I came here for brunch and I wasn't all that amused only because I am not a breakfast/brunch person. I do recall drinking so many bellinis because they said they were the inventor of it. Now I am only able to have one or two because it is very thick. Fast forward to today, I love this place whenever I want pasta. Some people can say they had better, but I just love it here. Their cream pasta with a million lbs of cheese and ham. Delicious! I get scared eating it too fast bc I will miss it. The one thing I am not a fan of is that their drink menu is very limited. Otherwise I am and will continue to go here over and over again.
Food is delicious.
Service is outstanding. Vibe is classy. I felt welcomed as if I was part of the family
A restaurant you must experience
During our visit to New York, my wife made it a point to have dinner at Harry Cipriani. As a former resident of the city, it was one of her favorite places to eat. After our first meal there, I have to agree with my wife, it is a place we will be sure to frequent whenever we visit the city. Cipriani’s is on the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 59th Street, in the beautiful Sherry Netherland building. The restaurant is old-school, but in a great way. I’ve been to a lot of Italian restaurants, from Tokyo to Italy itself, but Cipriani is unique, and is a wonderful experience. The menu is quite good, but is quite pricy. We enjoyed several dishes, salads, and drinks, and all were excellent. The restaurant is famous for its risotto, which my wife orders every time she visits. What makes the restaurant most special are its staff. At Cipriani, I feel like I’ve gone back in time 50 or 60 years. The manager and the waiters are friendly, talkative, and kind. They were nice enough to treat my daughter to a wonderful desert, which she really enjoyed. Keep in mind that there is a dress code, shorts and sandals are not permitted.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
