My family and I had an exceptional dining experience at a Harbour front Seafood restaurant. The was great diverse menu options to choose from and it was delivered exquisite flavours, the ambience was inviting, great views of the Harbour bridge and Opera House and the service was impeccable. Great night and memorable
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant was a short walk from where we were staying.
The staff were wonderful, nothing was a problem. The views we got were beautiful and the meals were glorious. We even decided to go back a 2nd time for our anniversary and the waitress remembered us. So lovely and we would highly recommend it to anyone. Can't wait to come back again

Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
Great food. Good service. Good meal deals. I'm a big fan.the only downside is that it can be noisy so if you want somewhere quiet you should try somewhere else. If you want great food and great views this is the place

This is a restaurant in which bright conversation can be had and it is not overtly noisy - no shrieks and giggles bouncing of cement here! The seafood platters are heavenly, and for my money, the best in the Illawarra. We enjoyed the hot and cold seafood platter. Food coma. My only quibble is, and this knocks half a star off, that no rice was served under the hot, charred seafood. In days of old (ie, last March) the silky garlic chilli butter intermingled with the sweet tang of the seafood and provided a fantastic umami sauce for the rice. I didn't quite like it as much as the grilled bugs or the fresh oysters on the cold platter, but nearly. Bring it back, Harbourfront!Another half a star deducted for not providing a plain sorbet or fruit option for dessert, at least on request? Usually I want something sweet and cool to end my meal rather than starching it up. Cos dude, is it really that hard to plunk a scoop of gelato and a slab of rockmelon onto a plate and charge me the standard price of a pudding which I will cheerfully pay? I think not. What else... Oh, the serving staff are good humoured and proficient and made awesome food and wine suggestions, making the experience a real pleasure.Just give me my rice and fruited ice.

I'm often a bit sceptical of seafood places that have great locations because they can get away with mediocre food. This place has a great harbour location with fresh tasty seafood to match. We had a hit and cold seafood platter plus a lobster on the side (as you do). The platter was full of fresh prawn
Be the first to ReplyThis used to be my favourite restaurant many years ago.
Went recently, and I'm not sure if it was an off night, but found the quality of the food had massively dropped, although the prices were still quite high. The service also was not even close to where it once was. Sad really because it used to be a great restaurant.

This place sits on the water overlooking the harbor next to Flagstaff Hill Park, and you can watch the boats come in and people fish as you eat. The top floor (separate entrance) is a little ritzier and the downstairs seems a bit more casual (and affordable). The service was a bit odd - when we first walked in about eight employees were right there but all sort of ignored us for a little bit -- no big deal, but it seemed like nobody knew who was supposed to seat us (and anybody could have stepped up and done it, or if they got out of our way we could done it ourselves). After that everybody was really focused on super-cleaning the tables and chairs, and we had to catch their eye in the midst of all their scrubbing to order (again no big deal, but a little weird and the smell of the cleaning product was off-putting). Besides four people viciously scrubbing the tables and chairs throughout our meal, the service the rest of the lunch was friendly/normal. We ordered the hot seafood platter and were certainly impressed with the quantity/quality of the food! It came with perfectly cooked tempura-battered shrimp, Tasmanian scallops on the shell (I think with a subtle ricotta sauce), grilled oysters with a BBQ bacon sauce (I'm not personally into BBQ on seafood, but it was good nonetheless), grilled octopus with a fantastic soy/spicey pepper/balsamic sauce, and a heaping pile of salt & pepper calamari. WOW - a lot of food for two people and overall really delicious. A minor complaint was that the octopus was a little chewy (yes, I know it's octopus but maybe it could have used another 5-10 minutes pre-boil), and a few of the calamari pieces were also rather chewy (though most were cooked perfectly). Overall, I'd give the food 4.75 stars, the location 5 stars, and the service 3.5 stars (friendly, but odd). I look forward to going back and suspect that today's service was an anomaly.
