Good food, but pricier for portions.
They do have a good assortment of banchan, which is unlimited. Wish they didn't serve hot tea in plastic water cups! They should at least be in cups made for tea and not soda - you can see the cracks in the plastic cups. Not a big deal if you don't drink the tea anyway. No frills service - eat and get out sort of place - almost always open!

This restaurant has a big open space with most tables, if not all, with a Korean bbq set up. I heard that it used to always be bustling with customers all day and all night. Server was incredibly quick and refilled side dishes once for me without asking so that was nice - I guess she could tell that I was hungry as I waited for my food. Got 2 main entree soup dishes and total was about $47 before tip. The yukgaejang was pretty good although it had a lot of green onions and not as much meat. But overall decent price and good quality.

Hahm Ji Bach is a well-known Korean bbq restaurant in Flushing and I do agree that it's one of the better ones. It's usually packed every time I go but the wait times aren't terrible. They are also fully Korean run but understand enough English to order. The service is alright - food comes out at a decent rate, banchan can be refilled if you ask, but since they're usually busy, they don't pay too much attention to your table. The staff also comes to cook your meat for you. We ordered the three beef combo with came with beef brisket, beef tongue, and marinated beef ribs. All of these different cuts were delicious. They also give lettuce and sauces for lettuce wraps, which is the best way to eat Korean bbq meats. We also ordered the black pork belly which was also tasty. It had a good balance of fat to meat and the staff really cooked it to the right level of doneness so there was some crisp around it. All of the meats were such great quality. Definitely a top Korean bbq spot. Menu has a good variety of appetizers, entrees, and different bbq meats to choose from. I'd skip their pancakes. I've tried both the seafood pancake and the chive pancake and their version tends to be on the chewy side. It's also fairly thin and not very filled with toppings so it's not my preference. Although I usually come for their bbq meats, many people come just for their entrees too.
Be the first to ReplyTheir food is always amazing.
This is my go to place for Korean food. My favorite is their kimchi jjigae!

My friend convinced us to try the raw marinated crabs here, and although there wasn't a nearby train station, we opted for an Uber. The restaurant is a bit hidden, but once inside, there's ample space. The menu is extensive, but we were here for the crabs. It was my first time trying them, and they were delicate, meaty, and served cold - the perfect bite with plenty of meat and fat. The meal included seaweed rice and banchan, and the service was prompt and efficient. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
Be the first to ReplyIt was my first time eating here and it did not disappoint.
Our food was consistent tended to and they give a ton of side dishes to with your meal too. Parking can be a bit tough and the restaurant is on a little side street and the street itself is pretty narrow. I loved that when your meat is done cooking they added a little shelf to the grill so that your meal will not overlook. I also liked that they give you 4 different dipping sauce options to go with your bbq. I'd definitely come back again if I'm in flushing and craving kbbq.

It's been a while since I've been here and was not too impressed by its meats. I love the fact that there are 12 banchans and they all tasted fantastic but what disappointed me was the quality of meat and flavor. The price is also expensive but service is great. They cook for you and teach you what to pair with to eat. This place is packed so come early. I would come back to try something else next time.

Solid traditional Korean food right outside of the LIRR station. Depending on the time, Hahm Ji Bach can be pretty busy, but the Korean bbq and stews are great.

Food was really good quality, service was very attentive, comfortable seating for small and large groups, and good variety of food.... The Korean BBQ was very very good and so was the seafood and scallions pancakes. The BBQ was pricey (110 for 2) but the quality was up to par.
Be the first to ReplyReally delicious K BBQ.
Delicious meat cooked on coals in the table right in front of you. Really great /generous Bonchan portions including delivered on a robot to your table!! They also had vegetarian options
Be the first to ReplyThe courteous Korean hospitality many of us are familiar
The courteous Korean hospitality many of us are familiar with is lost at this restaurant. When some of our food is missing we had reminded the waiting staff multiple times only to see our dish being brought to our table side and then got diverted to another table. There was only 1 set of sides for 6 of us which is clearly not enough and when asked the answer is "there's one". Restaurants of equal food quality are common place around the area, next time when we crave for Korean BBQ we only need to step into any one of the other restaurants on the block for better service and delicious food without having to trouble our waiting stuffs at Hahm Ji Bach here to bring us the correct order and the right amount of food.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely awful.
Like all of the other 1 star reviews I could relate. The service was absolutely horrendous. Had to request for side dishes 4 times for them to finally get it to us. We were supposed to get a steamed egg that never came to us instead they had the audacity to bring it to our table and ask the other waiter if it was ours then they took it away. We also asked for utensils for multiple times and all we got was an okay but no actions to support that. Ordered a combo that includes a soup that never arrived. Along with that combo has our bbq meat that didn't arrive until everyone was pretty much done witb their entrees. For them to even ask us if everything is okay is just a slap in the face. No nothing is okay with that terrible service. Do yourself a favor and please go to other places if you want to be treated with any kind of respect.

One of the best korean bbq! Everything is so delicious and so many free side dishes. Service is good. I'll definitely come back again with my friends and families.

Horrible food and horrible service! Don't come here if you have kids. Not a family friendly restaurant! Arrived on a Friday night. The server literally let the pork belly cook till it was overdone. It was getting charred and black and we were starting to get really worried after trying call a server for 10 minutes. When we finally started cutting it ourselves they came...Then they made a huge deal over my 2 year old daughter being naughty and disturbing the other customers. No one even complained about them. The server came and said my daughter is being loud and that we should leave if she is unable to contain herself. At that point I think we should have just left. When I called to make inquiries, they should have just said no kids allowed or provided coloring pencils distractions like most restaurants. The beef was over cooked. Waited forever for the server to come around to cook the beef. With a hot coal stove on for 20 min in front of my kid. She was getting nervous and screaming fire. It was awful. I took one taste of the beef and it tasted flavorless and overdone. I was so pissed off I just got up and left. Never coming back.

But it is a bit overpriced. We chose to try it because the BCD in queens closed and we were craving it so much. The soups were all fantastic, but the serving sizes were a bit small for the price. The bbq was the best though, the meat was very tender and soft, and the marinate was one of the best I have tried

Still very much standing by my previous review on how service has declined since a few years ago, but wanted to drop my review here for their yukgaejang.Stopped by for lunch recently after a ski trip with my friends, and I was craving a hot soup/stew. Decided on the yukgaejang ($17.99) and it really delivered. The soup was piping hot, and so deliciously spicy. Portion size was generous for sure - it came with a heaping portion of beef, green onions, and glass noodles. I appreciate how the spicy oil is really well incorporated into the soup, so it didn't feel like I was only getting a spoonful of oil with every bite. Seafood pancake was also good - it was crispy, well seasoned, and they didn't skimp on the seafood. My recent dining experience definitely reaffirms that Hamh Ji Bach has some really great korean dishes, but the service is still lacking in comparison to what it was.

2nd time here & they were really pushy abt getting appetizer. We had to say no like 3 times. Anyway, for banchan, we got seaweed salad, potato, acorn jelly, kkaktugi, kimchi, egg, bamboo, super spicy kimchi that's made with idk which veggie, pumpkin, & peanuts with anchovy. I love anchovy but I hate peanuts. I was able to have some anchovy, since the smell or taste of peanuts didn't transfer. I wish they'd give just anchovies tho. Last time, the chili anchovy was too spicy. Some of the side dishes were ok, some were good, others were too spicy for me. I got sundubu jjigae again, extra mild this time which wasnt spicy at all till I poured too much kimchi sauce in it. My sister got squid fried rice which comes with veggies like bell peppers, corn, peas, carrot. She got it medium spicy which was obviously too much for me. The dish was great nonetheless. I heard the bibimbap is good. They also give beef veggie soup with the hot stone bowl rice dishes.
Be the first to ReplyClassic Korean restaurant with all the usual dishes and
Classic Korean restaurant with all the usual dishes and Korean BBQ. I love Korean restaurants for the banchans, and Hahm Ji Bach has no shortage of those. We were given 10 different banchan dishes, which were all flavorful and delicious! They included mashed potatoes, fish, kimchi, peanuts with dried fish, and more. My friend and I ordered a tofu soup, a spicy lamb casserole, and tteokbokki. The spice level can be adjusted so we asked for mild. A bowl of rice is included. The dishes are pretty large. The small casserole that we ordered could have easily fed three people. It also comes with a spicy dipping sauce on the side. But beware that it is very spicy. The lamb in the casserole was so tender and delicious. The tteokbokki and tofu soup were also very good. I recommend choosing the regular spice level.
