Expensive..and for what?
The food was nothing special especially for the very high prices that were not justified. For example the price for a salad with tomatoes and mozzarella was 17 euroes and the portion was lilliputian . Also the glass of a common red wine was 16 and the water 10 euroes!!Another noticeable thing is that there was no menu for drinks so whatever you take you dont know the price.

Atmosphere - The atmosphere at Guido al Duomo was very pleasant save for a few patrons who felt entitled to smoke their cigarettes before and during dinner. Menu - The menu consists of the typical items found at any Italian trattoria. Wine List - Guido al Duomo prides itself on its extensive wine list which is featured on an iPad delivered to you by the proprietor. Yet, much to our surprise we were informed that the sole Pinot Grigio located on their extensive iPad wine list was unavailable. The proprietor offered us a bottle of a wine he said would be similar tasting. Being very familiar with Pinot Grigio, we found that his selection did taste exactly the same as any quality Pinot Grigio we had enjoyed previously. However, he failed to mention that the wine he poured cost 36% more than the wine we ordered from his extensive iPad wine list! Shame on him! Cuisine - While the food was good, it was neither exceptional nor memorable. Service - The service was completely unreliable. At one point I told our waiter to either serve us our main course, consisting of a bowl of spaghetti, plus a salad of asparagus, or bring us the bill. Miraculously... our food arrived! Alternative - Trust me when I tell you that you will have a far superior gastronomical and dining experience at Sophia. located within The Charles Hotel than you could possibly have at Guido al Duomo. Conclusion - While the food is good at Guido al Duomo, the menu holds no surprises. Moreover, the service at Guido al Duomo is disappointing and unprofessional, which ultimately diminishes its the capacity to create a fine dining expertise. For the same price you'll double your pleasure at Sophia!
Be the first to ReplyDrinks extremely expensive!
We just wanted to have a drink there late in the evening, so unfortunately I can't write anything about the food. The place is very nice, the service is very friendly. The 0.3 liter wheat beer costs €5.50 and a small beer €5.90. The equivalent would be €18.33 for an Oktoberfest beer. I think that's extremely expensive!
Be the first to ReplyVery Very expensive
Since it seems like every beer garden in Munich city center closes at 11-12pm, we decided on this bar. Overall, everything was very, very expensive and you didn't really feel welcome. I can't say anything about the food because we didn't eat anything. A bottle of water was just under €10, which is just extremely overpriced. (For comparison: At Augustiner Brau, a bottle of water costs €5.20) A shot of grappa cost about €8. There won't be a second visit.
Be the first to ReplyNot recommended, too expensive for what was presented.
We were seduced by the location and atmosphere. However, service was very short and hasty. No menu but plates where not everything was stated. No wine list. Price - quality was not in proportion.
Be the first to ReplyPoor price/performance ratio
Since the restaurant is always quite busy and has a nice location, we wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, we don't have any positive memories. We've never had such a bad price/performance ratio. - Food mediocre (but expensive) - Staff unfriendly - Uncomfortable location (at least inside) As is often the case, you're disappointed by restaurants in central locations - a real shame.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue
Friendly attentive staff, great food and vibrant atmosphere, if we had been in Munich longer would have definitely visited again.
Be the first to Replybig disappointment
It was not our first visit here, but today’s experience was very disappointing. Particularly the fish main course we ordered, neither the presentation nor the taste had matched our expectations, yet the restaurant charged us insane price €39,90 per person! The poor handwriting menu was displayed on a blackboard which in a way of easily confusing guest that €39,90 was for 2 persons till you received the bill… to be honest even €39,90 for would be overpriced cos the fish was so boringly cooked. And we also doubt that the menu was purposely written that way to mislead guest. This is just inappropriate!

We were very pleased with the restaurant--the location, the menu choices, the food--until we got our bill. We ordered the avocado salad with crayfish as a starter to share. It is not indicated on the menu that there are two sizes of the salad. It wasn't until we got our bill that we discovered the waiter had decided, because we were sharing, to give us the larger salad portion. However, since there are two sizes, the waiter should have offered us the choice. The difference in price is 6 Euros 50. This is not major, but it should have been our choice to get the larger size, not the waiter's. We felt a bit scammed. We would not have gotten the larger size because we both had pasta dishes following the starter. In fact, we were overly full at the end of the meal. The smaller salad portion would have been the appropriate choice.

As usual top food, wine and service, expensive but worth it. The place where the München elevated audience go who could never dream of stopping at the many turist traps in from of it, placed behind the Frauenkirche.

Top Service. Great Hospitality and amazing food. This restaurant you should not miss. We love this place. Everything done to perfection
Be the first to ReplyUncomfortable experience
A very disappointing experience. The food was OK but the service was poor. We were we seated uncomfortably right next to another couple, who then asked to be moved, which was really awkward. My food arrived with a big dark hair in it which they didn't apologise for. Such a shame as it was our first meal in Munich but at least we know we won't be going back. Bread and oil was nice and the Spagetti Vongole was very authentic. Atmosphere was not very welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Italian food, service and location
We dined here at the recommendation of our hotel concierge, and we had a great meal and experience. We ate outside and really enjoyed the energy of the courtyard. The service was very friendly and professional. There are no printed menus, and we ordered from a chalkboard held at the table by the server. I had the fish soup and the grilled shrimp, both of which were fantastic. If you like fish, you shouldn’t miss out on the fish soup. My two teenage sons and wife all enjoyed their pasta dishes, which were served al dente. A different server (sommelier) stopped by to recommend wine, and he was patient, articulate and was proactive in disclosing the prices of each, making it refreshing to not have to pore over a long printed menu. I highly recommend the restaurant for excellent Italian food with good service and a great atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyIndifferent service and overpriced
We had lunch here. Nothing special in all senses. The most expensive beer of our two week trip to Czech, Austria and Germany. Food was ok but overpriced. Service indifferent.
Be the first to ReplyA rip-off !
The food is very good unfortunately the service is very poor !
The biggest problem is that the owner and his employees only goal is to rip-off their customers by proposing you starters or main courses that are not on the formal menu and therefore without a price. Once you get the final bill, you will discover grossly over-priced items. For us, we get charge 50 euros for a carpaccio of potatoes with less than 1gr of white truffle !!!
Forgot the order
Italians have no good service and will never have
Place is awful and you will probably wait your order few hours or more if they forget it
Great service and food
I had a late lunch at the restaurant and found that the staff were awesome and very friendly, enjoyed a chat and served up a very nice meal. The food was equally good and I would highly recommend the restaurant.
