This was our absolutely favorite restaurant when we visited
This was our absolutely favorite restaurant when we visited Barcelona! Firstly, the wait staff was amazing and attentive. They knew we were traveling and took the time to explain everything to us. The food was absolutely amazing! Definitely a must!
Be the first to ReplyReally enjoyed our lunch here.
The place was unassuming and had a cool vibe to it. I liked that there was an open kitchen. We were seated at a table a bit further away from the chefs but I believe you can ask for seating at the chefs station. The waitress was great. She recommended that we get about 5-6 dishes for the 2 of us. We ordered the glazed eggplant/the cod Giralda (like a sashimi)/cold quail/snout and ear Nem/the mushroom "bikini" (crust less sandwich)/and the bread with tomatoes. It was all really tasty. The portions are small but filling.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff is extremely rude and arguably incompetent.
The food is just ok. I would recommend it, plenty of better places nearby.
Be the first to ReplyStumbled upon this after reading some reviews.
We were lucky to get in as soon as they opened without a reservation. It did not disappoint! The bread was perfect and the beef was outstanding!! Service was on point! No complaints from us!!
Be the first to ReplyCame to Gresca for lunch to try their tasting menu.
We went with the small menu. The food here was absolutely incredible. One of the highlights of our trip for sure. Every single dish popped, the service was great, we were mind blown by the desserts. Gresca was recommended to us by a former chef of Noma in Denmark and we could see why.

Was excited for a delicious dining experience but the whole thing was meh. We have such good restaurants in Portland, OR, maybe I'm just spoiled. We had the small tasting menu. The opener appetizer was a puffed pastry with almost no taste. If you're doing a fixed menu, the opening should wow you. Dessert was the best part. In between the egg soufflé was pretty and tasty but not really anything to write home about. Ditto for the sardine and the fish. The prawns in curry were next best after dessert. Wine by the glass, selected by the wait staff was very good. Service was good.

Don't EVER bother to come here. This restaurant does not deserve to be listed in the guidebooks. We had heard and read great things and went on a Wed night at 9:30 prepared to wait, but the server at the door would not allow it and told us he would call at 10:30 (which turns out to be when they close) so we could come back. We waited across the street for 50minutes and went back to wait at 10:20. We were promptly seated at the bar and given menus...in Catalan. We obviously didn't understand them and the woman next to us had a menu in Spanish which I would have been able to read. Discrimination at its finest. I condemn this restaurant and its service. Zero minus stars.

Sorry! I never complain about service; here we're dealing with horrible policies. Why would you reserve a table for a group of seven for 10:30 if your kitchen closes at 11? There is nothing worse than trying to eat with a boot hanging over your head, almost quite literally given the tiny space. Or maybe it's my fault cause I made (tried to make?!) the reservation in Spanish. In any case, just a waste of time, appetite, and good humor.

We really wanted to love the taste of each of the 7 courses, but we didn't.The presentation of the dishes was beautiful. The sardine, eggplant and chocolate dishes were quite good. The egg suffle was interesting and very tasty. The pigeon was well cooked but i have enjoyed different flavoring with it more. The citrus dish, which I was really looking forward to, was way too acidity and not at all balanced. Compared to other restaurants in Barcelona is was expensive but cheap compared to NYC prices. Wouldn't recommend though.
Be the first to ReplyThey shunted me to the bar area because I was eating alone.
(No, seriously.) Funnily enough, later on, a couple wanted to eat in the bar area (they have different menus) and were asked to sit at the restaurant because there was no more bar seating. The food was fine, but not worth the money.

If you are struggling to choose your dishes because all of them look appetizing, let the chef do the job and amaze you with its tasting menu! With the 5 courses tasting menu ($38) and the friendly staff, who is knowledgeable on every dish, ingredients and wine, I had one of the best dining experiences in Barcelona! My 5 courses including: Sardine covered in spiced butter - a delicate presentation with the butter takes away the fishy taste of sardine.Mackerel with bok choy and yogurt - the highlight of the meal! The fish is well-prepared and I love the sprinkle of broccoli as decoration. Egg Souffle - It caught my attention right when it was served - it looks like a giant toasted marshmallow! Order it for its presentation or for the creaminess when the yolk is mixed with the vegetable at the bottom.St. Pierre - this fish has a firm texture and a beautiful color after grilling it. The pine nut sauce adds the flavor to the dish.Pigeon - I was surprised by how tender the pigeon tasted since it's my first time trying it! It has this texture that you can't find in any other kind of meat. Pear & Coffee (dessert) - the sweetness of the pear, the bitterness of the coffee, and the sourness of the cream give an interesting balance of flavors. Also, the chocolate ball with liquor inside adds some fun to the dessert!
Be the first to ReplyStopped in around 1pm for lunch without a reservation
Stopped in around 1pm for lunch without a reservation (although they asked), and the restaurant was pretty empty (although it filled up while I was eating for typical Barcelona meal times). I think I was the only American in the restaurant, but they did have an English menu, which I read with the Spanish one side-by-side. The daily special menu was only in Spanish and Catalan - I opted for that (maybe not advised if you're not used the cuisine, it was not at all what I expected). I started with a lukewarm mushroom out, with ham. The soup base was great, but I would have preferred it warmer. Next, I had a albacore tuna steak with ribbon-ed carrots and cucumber. The waiter said it was lightly seared, but I couldn't see a sear on the meat at all. I didn't like it. Last for dessert, red wine flavored italian ice over oranges and cream. Nothing was what I expected, but maybe I should have ordered from the regular menu or asked for a more detailed description of the food? Nice restaurant, but probably won't go back, although they did have cute (custom) bread plates...
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals we had in Barcelona.
We came early on a Tuesday night and had no trouble reserving a table for five. But, the place filled up really quickly and it's no surprise why. We selected the five course meal and had an amazing selection of fish dishes, the egg souffle and the pigeon. My least favorite dish was the dessert. But, i'd come back here again and maybe try going a la carte to try more of the other plates. Definitely a must for foodies.
