Food - Appetizers: Grilled bread with dips, beet salad.
Entrées: Duck meatloaf, Burger, Pork shoulder. In depth notes on the food: Pork is tasty and juicy. Duck meatloaf is very flavorful. The burger is the staple dish and really tasty. Service - Angel was our server, very knowledgeable and professional. An added benefit to our experience. Ambiance - Professional crowd, not loud. Beautiful and artistic restaurant with high ceiling. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful place, great food, nice service.
Have dined here several times over the years and never been disappointed in the food. Always fresh and well prepared. Seasonal entrees have been delightful. Wine list is well paired with the food.

Outstanding dinner! Great wine pairing suggestions from outstanding wait staff. Highly recommend the Tavern Burger, brick pressed chicken and Cauliflower.
Be the first to ReplyReally solid price fixe menu and a beautiful restaurant.
Waitress forgot our cheese plate order and some other technical details, which wasn't ideal. Food review below! Arctic char appetizer - 4/5, didn't love the sesame topping (tasted stale?) Squid Ink Seafood Pasta - 5/5, the seafood was insanely yummy Skate - 5/5, so interesting. Loved the textures Lamb - 0/5, this was a huge miss. Overcooked and bland. Sauce was too rich and smoky Lemon Tart - 4/5, good but nothing innovative like the other dishes

I made a brunch reservation in the A La Carte Tavern without knowing the menu, the prices, or that it had a Michelin star. The food was good, but portions small and expensive. It's not one that I would go back to.

We had a great lunch here for a friend's birthday on a Thursday. Got seated by the window with comfy bench seats and it was a gorgeous sunny day outside. The food was excellent (citrus beet salad - fantastic and fresh, arctic char (very flavourful and light and perfectly done), the potato leek soup (creamy and lovely) and brisket sandwich (great), the chicken (nicely done), a chocolate pudding (rich and delish), the pear cake (great), and an extra slice of birthday cake with icing/banana. We were VERY full after. However, the service was extremely slow (but friendly and knowledgeable when it was there). We didn't get our bread (fresh and good - but we had to ask for butter/oil) for 10-15 minutes after we had ordered our meal. And we had to flag down a different waiter for dessert after waiting 20 minutes (our table had been cleared already). Would definitely come back for the ambience and food!

5 star service!!! I think I just prefer other flavors to American so I thought the food was alright but nothing amazing or mind blowing. Sweet potato duck pasta - fresh pasta texture was good. Sauce was too salty for me and it made it a heavy meal. Besides the salt the flavors were good but it was too glaring of an issue to overlook. Drinks - rlly liked the manhattanhenge drink! Drinks were strong hehe The best thing about gramercy tavern was that they were really accommodating for allergies. My friend has a lot of allergies and they were able to modify the dishes for him while preserving the flavor!!! Moreover, it was his birthday and they saw how much he enjoyed the allergy friendly cake that they sent another one with him for the road!!! It was very sweet and the service was excellent!!!
Be the first to ReplyAlways great food.
And service. And before or after visit the Teddy Roosevelt home next door.

Gramercy Tavern lives up to its name and reputation! I was invited here for a baby shower and was blown away. Firstly, the service was impeccable. Aquila (hope I spelled that right) took such great care of us!! Her and the staff made us feel right at home, everyone was so friendly. They were also very attentive, I noticed that my napkin was folded every time I got up to use the restroom. Onto the food- my favorite was the sweet potato lumache with a duck ragu. Flavortown!!! Pasta was cooked perfectly-al dente. I also loved the dessert which wasn't my typical choice. It was a pear upside down cake. Sooooo good. Not one crumb left. Also got a chocolate chip cookie to go. The restaurant was beautiful inside. Very cozy and had gorgeous arrangements and decor. Would return again in the future!
Be the first to ReplyBest Burger I've ever had, hands down 11/10.
Worthy of the michelin star. Price is worth. The fish and the beef tartare were good, but get the burger! Come here.

Too noisy for a date. Good food. Can get really crowded.

As a general rule of thumb, I usually hold any place that's on the pricier side to a higher standard. I think it's something about the principle of the thing...if I'm going to drop $$$ on a dinner, I want it to be amazing. Luckily, after my boyfriend and I visited Gramercy Tavern, I'm happy to say this restaurant is a fairly solid choice. What we ordered: - Beef tartare: I really liked the flavor of this! It came atop a puree (mushroom?) and sprinkled with sesame seeds, which I've decided is the only way I'm eating my tartare from now on. Amazing crunch and absolutely delicious - plus, it comes with a side of bread (yes, I asked for a second helping). - Tavern burger: Don't get me wrong, this is a good burger. It's just that this has been so hyped up that I expected it to blow my mind. I wanted something special - an egg maybe, or a special kind of ingredient - something to take it the extra mile. Still, the bacon is *chef's kiss* and the aioli was great. The potato chips were also a nice touch!- Grilled striped bass: I didn't love the parsnips that it came on (I thought they were a little bland), but the fish was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had no complaints and I'm pretty sure he licked the plate clean, so that tells you all you need to know. All in all, I really do like Gramercy Tavern! Is it the best Michelin place I've tried? No. Is it a restaurant with great service and good food? Yes. TLDR: come for the atmosphere, stay for the duck fat potato chips. Don't expect anything earth-shattering, but you'll walk away with a great meal.
Be the first to ReplyI chose to visit on a solo date while visiting NYC.
Because I was alone, I made a reservation for the more casual tavern area, and opted out of the area offering the tasting menu. The cocktail list is straightforward and approachable. Being an Indiana native, I was pleased to see the only non NY beer offered was Three Floyds Gumballhead, which is a classic hoppy IPA. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It makes you feel welcome while still being elevated. Service was great, as I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Not being super hungry, I went staight for an entree and chose the Grilled Black Bass over parsnips and a smoked oyster chowder. The first bite was pure bliss. Flavors expertly balanced and it had just the right touch of salt. I do wish the skin on the fish was slightly more crisp, but it didn't take away from the overall dish. This was a lovely experience and I would definitely come back again solo or with a group.

If I could put a zero star I would, but this is not an option...and to know this establishment has a one star in the Michelin Guide makes me wonder can you buy your stars cause it certainly seems to be the case here. The saying "don't meet your hero's" certainly applies at the Tavern, we ended the night by having the finger flashed at us by one of their bar tendres... after having a dreadful experience not just food wise but the lack of passion of most of the team, the lack of attention into the details ( wobbly foldable table, very dirty bathrooms, sommelier who tries to push expensive wines, and the salt to cover up the bad produce which prevented us to actually eat it was that distasteful) a very big disappointment for such a New York staple. Never experienced such thing in my 11years here, not sure they thought we were tourists none the less go spend your money elsewhere please!Yes they waived the charge of the diner menu ( we did not eat a thing) we still had to pay for the wine and nothing really was done in a meaningful way to better the experience or try to understand what went wrong. I guess they are far beyond laying on their laurels and taking everything for granted, such a shame! not sure they even know who Danny Meyer is or if they ever heard of Setting the table... honestly go to the shack if you would like a descent meal for it's buck...

Definitely recommend getting a bar seat, especially if you're going solo or with 1 other person. Definitely came here for the burger and the cookie (both worth the hype) Steak tartare 5/5Such a well balanced app. It had little mushrooms which I loved!! It tasted super fresh and they split it onto two plates for the two of us which I thought was a nice touch. Comes with the perfect amount of bread Burger 4.8/5Honestly a really good burger especially when dipped in the aioli. I think my only request would be having a little more veggies in there but the burger itself is super solid. Definitely worth trying Duck meatloaf 2/5I really am not a big duck fan but I found it underwhelming. I didn't love the texture and thought it was a little bland. I wish I tried a different entree Cookie 5/5Super gooey and delicious. Especially paired with the milk it's a perfect ending to a great meal Ricotta donuts 3/5I thought it was good but I may have been stuffed at that point. I probably wouldn't order it again since I wasn't a big fan of the donut itself. The ricotta was good though
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Always come here for bdays, celebrations, etc. Chocolate chip cookie for dessert is excellent!!
Be the first to ReplyI don't remember what drink I got but get it! Lol.
It has milk in it, it was light refreshing and so fab I had 3! We sat in the bar area and it was lovely. Skip the duck meatloaf, while delish it's just a tad greasy but that burger was DIVINE. And everyone is right- the citrus and beet salad is a must
Be the first to ReplyDelicious! trust the chef! Needs reservations.

The tasting menu with the wine pairing was incredible! It was definitely really busy but the service did not lack at all. I came here for a work dinner with my team and would definitely recommend coming here for a work related or group dinner. The vibes were great. I would definitely recommend trying Gramercy Tavern!
Be the first to ReplyI loved the ambiance of the Tavern.
Great date spot. Service was great and the food was solid (just a bit pricey for what it was, but okay for nicer occasions.) They gave me a complimentary meringue for my birthday (we ordered the other two desserts)Izakaya cocktail was amazing. Bass was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were amazing. The dish overall was good. Burger was also good - wish it had more vegetables but it was very hearty (good for meat lovers).

Just came in for a quick meet-up but overall the service is excellent and the vibe is perfect. Have been here in the past and the food was excellent (I mean, it's a 1-star Michelin spot) but the combination of the location, service, food and environment make it amazing.
Be the first to ReplyAlways good service and elevated atmosphere.
Highly recommend for special occasions and just because.
Be the first to ReplyGramercy Tavern is a true gem in NYC.
When we knew we were finally going to be able to go to New York for a post poned birthday celebration from last year, I made a reservation for this Michelin starred restaurant. Gramercy Tavern is divided into two areas for dining: The Tavern and the dining room. As you may imagine, The Tavern is a little less stuffy, but it's still refined. You won't find flip flopped /tank top wearing people sauntering in. Initially I had a reservation for 530p on RESY and was on a waitlist to dine at 700p. The host on the phone was very accommodating in that. We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation. Gramercy Tavern hosts make sure that you are taken care of, but not before checking your vaccination status alongside your ID. After that, your coat is checked and you are offered a water while you wait for your table. We were reserved in the Tavern , as I didn't want to have price fixed menu that I had seen as the only thing available in the dining room. Our host told us at 715p that the occupants at our table had not left and we could dine in the dining room on the ala carte menu, as well, if we wanted. We wanted to wait. At 745p we were finally seated. Yes, it was a bit annoying for such a stuffy restaurant as we could see empty tables that never had occupants at them, BUT we also didn't know if this had to do with a Covid rule or something, despite the fact that we are in March 2022. The hostess bought us our first round of drinks and that was kind of her, although she could have saved the quip about it being my husband's birthday as she checked his ID.. (it was last SEPT that I booked this NYC getaway for us as his Broadway bday gift and due to the pandemic it postponed repeatedly) ..so yes, it actually WAS a birthday celebration. Our waiter was amazing. He apologized for the delay in seating profusely. He brought me another champagne and who could be angry when in a Michelin starred restaurant in NYC? The ambience here is beyond charming; it's pretty and rustic but also very up tick. My husband ordered the best burger he's tasted and at $32 it better be :) I had the Duck Meatloaf and again it was amazing! Our server never missed a beat despite our rough 45 minute late start to the night. The menu here is great.. IF you're wondering how and why in a Michelin starred place my husband would order a burger.. well,, because, why would you not try a Michelin starred burger and duck fat fries!? I'll be the one to go out and order a Duck Meatloaf because well, IT"s different! The waiter brought my husband a Vanilla Coconut Cupcake and candle (even tho we told him of the delayed bday trip!) and it was one of those cup cakes you don't forget. We tried to order something more to split but I have a myriad of allergies to nuts and apparently pea and nut flours are used in most of the desserts. That is perfectly okay for me .. maybe not for someone else wanting that full on experience! BUT for us this was amazing ! If you get the chance, make the reservation and get to Gramercy ... it's a legend in New York City and there's a reason why .. It's nearly perfect !
Be the first to ReplyWe ordered the pre fix tasting menu in the Dining Room.
We opted not for the pairing because that would have been too much alcohol. Not cheap. Good flavor on all food. Funny that my favorite was the bread. Don't be afraid to ask for more.
