Go to spot when you want a good drink and great food.
Little pricey but ambiance and people watching is worth it.
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is spectacular, especially the appetizers.
I came here for the first time with my family, and we all loved it. I recommend the crab stack and the crab cake appetizers, and the chicken marsala with lobster (which my grandma could not stop raving about). Each entree comes with a salad and I recommend upgrading to the caesar salad because it was really good. The service was very good as well, but it was a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy. The ambiance is dark and evening themed and perfect for a nice dinner.

My wife and I really enjoy the outdoor area for drinks and dinner in the summer. Good spot for happy hour

We went to Giumarello's for dinner on Valentine's Day and it surprisingly was not very crowded. We had called weeks in advance and the girl on the phone was able to get us a reservation for 7:30. When we arrived, I was shocked to see we were being seated in the bar section, since she had mentioned it would be in their dining room. There were about 5 or 6 bar tables, which we were seated at. There was a large group standing around the bar right behind my seat for the first 30 minutes of our meal. It felt very claustrophobic and people were passing by constantly and getting right up on me since there was no room between the bar and table. As we were being seated, our waiter came up to ask for our drink orders. I didn't know what I wanted and told him it would be a minute or two before I decided. He seemed annoyed that I wasn't ready within 30 seconds of being seated with a drink order. When he came back, I ordered a glass of wine and it took about 10-15 minutes for him to bring it to me. When he came back to the table he slammed the glass down and bolted away. We then sat there for upwards of 20-30 minutes before he came back to ask for our appetizer order. We had the braised short ribs appetizer and it was delicious! Again, we waited with our dirty plates in front of us for another 30 minutes before he came around for our dinner order. During this time he was going to the tables next to us constantly and avoiding checking on us for some reason. Our entree was supposed to come with their house salad, but we never received it. We ordered the frutti de mare for dinner and added on the lobster tail. When the dish came out, it was lukewarm and you could tell it had been sitting in the back for a while. The clams were extremely chewy and the shrimp was overcooked. I think the food would have been fine if it hadn't been sitting back there for so long. The lobster tail was also very small for the $15 add on fee. The waiter was oddly friendly of course once he swiped our card for payment. We were extremely disappointed with the service we received and were shocked that this waiter was hired to work at Giumarellos. For the prices you pay here, you would expect top of the line service and a better quality of food.

2.5/5. I heard so many great things about this place, and we were so excited to try it out. But for me, it just did not live up to the hype. To start, we had a 7:30 reservation but did not get seated until 7:50. There was not really any place to wait inside so we had to cram into a corner. For a place that lists its dress code on the front page of their website, it was not enforced AT ALL, even among their staff. I would not have cared if there was no dress code but it left a bad taste in my mouth that it was such a prominent point on their website and then not followed through with. The food was not bad, but it was average and not memorable. I was disappointed with my filet that I ordered medium but clearly came out over cooked. Slow service we waited around 30-40 minutes for our entrees. The star of the show was the Lemon Dream Martini, which was 10/10!! We also tried the Espresso Martini and Milkshake Martini which were very good. Did appreciate the complimentary valet parking especially given how difficult parking can be in this area.
Be the first to ReplyGood food.
Love the complimentary bread! Very enjoyable. The ravioli with mushrooms was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a date night around 6:30 on a Friday.
Place was packed! Love the complimentary valet, made it much better than trying to find parking on The street. It took about 30 minutes to get a table so we enjoyed a drink near the bar while waiting. Martinis were delish! I had a stoli doli and my wife had a dirty martini that was made perfectly to her liking. We went the route of just a bunch of apps to try as much as possible. Everything was great! The real star was the scallops- they were perfectly cooked and seared. My wife woke up still talking about them! We can't wait to go back and try even more!
Be the first to ReplyIt's ok.
Meh. Overpriced for what you could get somewhere great for the same or a little less. Feel it used to be better, I guess. Not going to get into the critiques because I know people love this place for some reason. .Is there better places ? Sure.

They would not refund a gift card based on specious excuses: it was over a year ago, they are using a new system. This is patently unfair and not a good business practice. Goodbye Giumarello's.

I've been going to Giumarello's long before the move to Westmont. The food has always been five star - it's been our favorite place especially when celebrating a special event. I was surprised to find that they closed half of the restaurant to make a private room/speakeasy bar. While earlier in the year they finished extending the G-bar. My disappointment with my evening has nothing to do with the quality of the food but with the lack of interest in offering a fine dining experience, especially with the price you're willing to pay for your meal. In addition we were seated in the center of the room which had a chill due to being directly in line with the front door. When I asked to be moved I was told a party was coming and the other section of the room was taken. However as I sat eating my meal with my mother wearing her coat no party came. I'm not a nit-picky person but I will say I should not have had to ask for my water glass to be filled There was a time when they would bring all the meals to the table all at once then lift the silver tops from the dishes at the same time. There was a time when you informed them it was a special evening due to an anniversary when they would decorate the dessert plate and offer congratulations. There was a time when you sat down and felt like you were in a restaurant not an extension from the bar. There was a time when you walked out feeling you had a fine dining experience sadly this is no longer the time.

This was our first time here after friends had highly recommended. We were not disappointed! The service was friendly and attentive. We started with the Brussels Sprouts app but with goat cheese instead of bleu cheese and it was absolutely delicious. I had the seared tuna and it was cooked perfectly. The spinach risotto with it was one of the best. My fiancée got the Jack Daniel's pork chops. Probably one of the best cooked pork chop I've ever seen. It was juicy and delicious 10/10 recommend.

Hadn't been in a long time, but always remembered it as a beautiful special restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. The food is still good, but for the prices for the service and ambience, I was truly disappointed. We brought our friends there to thank them for a kindness. We all remembered it as the place to go to dress up and have special service that was well worth the price. Well, the price hasn't changed but the ambience and service certainly has. We had made a reservation and they had promised us the table in front of the fireplace in the dining area for birthdays. When we got there, they said the table was already taken and put us very close to the noisy bar. There were no table cloths, candles, or nice table settings, and they didn't even remember that I had noted it was a special occasion. They didn't seem to care because they were quite busy with a new crowd. We weren't overdressed, but appropriately dressed sitting next to a table where people had on socks, with flip-flops and T-shirts. Why do they still have a dress code suggestion up on their webpage if everything has gone so downhill? It wasn't only that table. It was about 90% of the tables. I'm so glad that you can't reserve in the cozy, romantic booths near the bar because the people at the bar were spilling onto the tables and screaming. I'm all into happy and having a good time but this is more like a pub bar restaurant. Mind you I'm not against pub bar restaurants but if you're looking to take someone or a group there be prepared that it's not the same at all. I will still go there with rowdy friends, but was embarrassed that we chose the restaurant as a special occasion place as it certainly no longer is.

Went NYE , service could have been a little better but it was very busy. everything we ordered for a table of 8 was excellent. Pancetta shrimp, tai mussels, calamari, rib eye, veal chop.

We recently discovered this restaurant last week, and had such a great experience that we decided to come back this week. Our server last week, Griffen, was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The service at our reservation this week was different. She didn't introduce herself, and asked us if we wanted to order 1 minute after we sat down. When we ordered she didn't even take our menus away from us so we had to leave them piled on the table. Someone in our group had an issue with her meal and she seemed confused and annoyed when they brought it up to her. Overall, the service was just very different this week. I'm generally not a picky person, but it really affected the whole dining experience. Maybe she was having a bad day. As for the food, we really loved the complimentary bread, crab stack app, eggplant florentine app, and wild mushroom ravioli. I'm still dreaming about the taste of those raviolis, they were fabulous. Two people in my group each ordered the miso glazed sea bass. The one person with me couldn't eat the dish because she said random bites were so incredibly salty, to the point where she was nauseated from it. And other bites had zero seasoning. The other person who ordered the same dish felt the same way but was so hungry they decided to keep it. Like I said, everything was fabulous last week, so this week won't deter us from coming back. We just won't order that miso glazed sea bass and hopefully the service is better.

I went here for New Years Eve and had a great time! The restaurant ambiance and decor was very tasteful and decorated with a mix of both lights and balloons. We arrived about 15 minutes early to our reservation and they were able to seat us early! We ordered their saffron mussels for our appetizer and it was really good. The mussels were very big and there was jumpy shrimp on top as well. The shrimp was overcooked, however it didn't effect the overall dish. For dinner, we ordered the lobster ravioli and the Fruitti de Mare and both were extremely good! The pasta was homemade and had great flavor and the raviolis were stuffed with lobster. The Frutti de Mare had a red crab sauce which had a slight kick to it. There was tons of seafood on the entree. Each entree also came with a side salad which was served prior to the entrees coming out. The service was also great and we were able to enjoy the dinner and were not rushed at all. It was a great experience and we can't wait to go back soon!

I was on business travel and was recommended this restaurant by some colleagues and it was amazing!!! Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the appetizers or my drink but I did get this amazing burger with jack daniel sauce and fries. Every bite was amazing and I will surely be back whenever I am on the east coast.

Another amazing dinner!! I can't express enough how amazing the shrimp pancetta is. Bacon wrapped shrimp with horseradish in a creamy mustard sauce. I always save a piece of bread to grab all the extra sauce. I order it every visit. It's my favorite. Today I ordered the ahi tuna seared with black peppercorn. It was cooked perfectly and served over spinach risotto. The veal chop stuffed with lobster, mozzarella and spinach is an experience worth repeating over and over again. The drinks and dessert can fabulous. Not a 5 star meal due to service issues. But it is around the holidays so kind of expected but still puts a damper on the whole experience.

I've only been coming here for a year or so and my experience while sitting at the bar has been nothing but favorable. Drinks were good and staff was attentive. Food is great. When dining with a large party, my experience has been quite the opposite. During one occasion, we experienced blatant racism from the server. On another occasion, there was hair in the food and the manager insisted that no one in the kitchen had "that type of hair", insinuating that the hair came from someone in my party. This kind of disrespect will not be tolerated. If they don't want Black people in their restaurant, then just say that without being dismissive of our concerns.

I am a BIG "foodie" and this restaurant is hands down my number one favorite spot for dinner. My dad and I go on a father daughter date once a year when I would come home from college and now when I come home from California to visit. We sit at the bar and always order several appetizers instead of entrees. We love to try several little dishes because the flavors of each dish are out of this world. The atmosphere is amazing, the bar tenders/waiters/waitresses are amazing and fast and tentative, the drinks are out of this world and the food can not be beat. We just went the other night for our annual date before I head back to California for work and we were once again blown away by how spectacular everything was. I got a blood orange martini (two of them) and we ordered several different appetizers. We couldn't even decide which appetizer was our favorite. From the tuna tartar to the crab stack to the meatballs to the eggplant, SUPERB. I highly recommend going here for dinner as soon as possible and I hope it turns into one of your favorite spots as well!
Be the first to ReplyFirst visit and will definitely be back.
Nice atmosphere and the service was excellent!! They have a great wine list and not over priced. The food was delicious we had the cheeseboard for an appetizer, great selection on the board. Entrees also did not disappoint. My cousin lives in the area so we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyI ordered the Expresso 16 ounce steak.
What can I really say. It was the most perfectly cooked steak I have ever had. Nothing was wrong. From the appetizers to the main course. All delicious!! Little expensive but worth every penny! A must visit. I'll be back again and again.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely disappointed in Giumarello's.
I've been coming here for a while now and the staff has become very rude. It feels as though they are being inconvenienced by any request, especially the hostesses. I wanted a quick bite to eat, and asked for a table. Even though there were tons of tables open (the restaurant had JUST opened) she responded by saying "Um. Well, I don't have a table for just one. Why don't you just sit at the bar?" I was extremely taken back by her comment for three reasons: 1)Tables were open all over, and 2) she seemed irritated by me being there by myself, and 3) it felt as though I wasn't welcome to sit at a table because no one else was with me at the time. Also, when she finally sat me at a table in a dark corner, the table was all wet. I asked politely if I could have a napkin to wipe it, and she said, "What?" very disrespectfully, and bent over to look at the table as if she didn't believe me or didn't understand what I was talking about. She then grabbed a dirty towel, wiped it (with a sour look on her face) and then threw it back down. When I said thank you, she didn't respond, and looked visibly irritated which was not my intent. I was going to wipe it by myself with no problem. It wasn't a big deal, but the way she treated me was. Additionally, the portions have gotten smaller, but the prices are through the roof. I got a cheese plate which used to be twice the size. I was still eating as I paid the bill and wasn't finished. The waitress never returned once I paid. It seems as though customer experience is not a top priority here anymore and it is just more about how what the CUSTOMER can do for the restaurant. This used to be one of my favorite places. Not anymore.
