French Crust Café and Bistro Cincinnati Reviews from The Last Year
We were able to visit this restaurant twice this weekend.
It was the only restaurant we knew would be open for Easter. So we invited my daughter to join us and we made an afternoon of it. We were greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was in an old renovated building--which added to its charm. The walls echoed a very French theme with dozens of French vintage movie posters. We started with a glass of Champagne and my daughter had a latte. Our entrees consisted of the croque madam which my husband ordered, scallop and seafood vol-au-vent with wine cream, cblt which my daughter had. Each one of us clean our plates. No boxes! Does that tell you anything? Now yesterday, we had light meals. I tried the quiche with Gruyere, leeks and ham, which was substantial. However, I was a bit disappointed when I tasted it. The ingredients floated to the top of the quiche and left a very gelatinous egg mixture on the bottom. The crust was very dark --almost burned looking. If that is the way a French quiche is executed--I think I will pass on it next time. All-in-all, I still love the place. It's a wonderful little luxury that isn't overly expensive and has close proximity to my other favorite place--Findlay Market!

I had been craving a Croque madame so I stopped in here with one of my buddies. I thought the service was slow and both of our orders were underwhelming.
Gave us our drinks.
Didn't ask if we needed more water, didn't ask if we needed anything, and didn't offer anything/ recommend anything. Couple next to me showed up 15 mins after me and received cold food and was told they had to make the food. Great food terrible service.

We had dinner at French Crust Cafe last evening and the four of us were very pleased with our delicious entrees. We had chicken cordon bleu wih a perfectly prepared sauce, shrimp and scallops and the mahi mahi and tumeric cauliflower puree special. Our dinners were all filled with flavor. Topped off with a creme brulee for dessert. The food choices are different than many other restaurants in the city, so its a refreshing change. We always look forward to going here for dinner as the restaurant atmoshpere is very European and the time spent there is like a quick vacation. Madison took very good care of us as did the rest of the staff. They all work together as a team and we did not wait for anything. Entrees arrived piping hot. Already looking forward to the next visit!
Go here! The food is just so good.
One of the best in Cincinnati. Try the desserts and they have a good wine selection.
We tried about one of everything.
I don't like to regret not getting something lol. The snails were very tasty, flavorful. I did not enjoy chomping on a piece of shell though :) The macaroni is not like macaroni we are used to. Not the right noodles and it has mushrooms and something else in it. It was alright, big bowl of noodles. French onion soup was a bit sweeter than I like but very tasty. Burger was nothing special. Just a normal burger. The chicken was good but all the salt was sprinkled on top.
Another perfect lunch at French Crust.
Charcuterie, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with a cup of chicken soup. $14. France in OTR. That's value.

Lovely cafe in the heart of OTR and across the street from Findlay Market. I have been here a few times and have always ordered the same thing because it HAD always been fantastic. While the establishment looked mostly the same and the wait staff was still friendly since my last visit two years ago, I noticed a decline in the quality of my food. The bowl of "Creamy Chicken Soup" was completely off the usual mark. It was very watery as if someone had added more chicken broth or water to make the pot go further. I thought that perhaps this was a new recipe and so disappointedly continued to eat the soup. The flavor was still good, it just lacked the consistency of any type of "creamy" soup as the menu name states. After paying the bill I asked the waitresses if there was a new recipe or chef since the soup seemed to be so off point from years ago. She said that she also noticed that it was watery and actually thought it was a different soup that day, but in fact, it was just a watery day. If she had noticed that the soup seemed off from the normal consistency, then she should have warned us of the change or suggested the French Onion soup instead. The Quiche seemed to be a bit overcooked. While the egg portion seemed fine, the crust was very brown indicating a pinch too long in the oven. Portion size was very big however. I just avoided the crust altogether. This was a special pre-Christmas brunch with a family member, so it was bit disappointing to have the food quality diminished from previous visits,
One of my favorite food emporiums in Cincinnati.
Located at Findlay Market. I was sorry to hear of Chef Jean-Robert's passing. What a major impact he had on the local food scene. Nice bistro menu, excellent environment , and ably served by Madisyn. I come here every Cincinnati visit. You should too.
Terrible Service
My wife and I came in today, Friday 12/1, for lunch and were greeted and seated. Usually we just sit at the bar for a quick bite and a cocktail, but it was full so we sat at a table. After sitting for about 10 minutes we we were finally greeted and we placed our food order followed by our drink order. We ordered a soup to share, followed up with a burger and mac&cheese to split. After another 10-15 minutes we got our drinks and my wife was given a cold espresso and I got a glass of red wine. Another 7-10 minutes goes by and we were given bread. Time ticked by and we both have finished our drinks while having fun coloring on our table. Now a good 30 minutes have passed and no soup, no food, no server. My wife and I noticed the server was completely slammed and overwhelmed while a young manager sat and had fun with a table sipping bubbly. Now 45 minutes have passed and our server has passed us numerous times, even speaking to the table next to us, taking their order. So now my wife and I are feeling completely ignored and hungry, so we got up and left since there was zero manager presence and no food in sight. It's a shame to see it so understaffed, and if that's the case you should limit the amount of tables a server can handle. It was an absolute disappointment to be welcomed then completely ignored while the tables around us enjoyed and celebrated. It definitely ruined the lunch I wanted to share with my wife because we don't get much time together. I hope this helps your business because if it were my business and this low level of service was happening, I would want to know. Sincerely disappointed.

We just went to French Crust for the first time during a Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday and we had a great time. We got the flat croissant with chicken, apple, and Swiss and a side soup of pork belly split pea soup, duo of salmon croissant with egg mimosa, avocado, tomatoes and a side of fruit, and a chocolate mousse. The food was delicate, purposeful, and wonderful, the closest to authentic French cuisine we've found in Cincinnati. The location and ambiance were very nice, and our server Javier was above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for high quality French dining in the city.
Slow and Cold
The service was terribly slow. The place seems to be significantly short of staff. Our waitress was covering way too many tables. It took forever to get our small portions of food. The food must have been sitting in the kitchen for a long time because it was not hot when served. The only thing that keeps this restaurant from being rated a 1 was half of our entrees had good flavor. We won’t be back!

The atmosphere and ambience is overshadowed by how long it takes to get your lunch order. Literally waiting for 50min for quiche and soup order. Would recommend bringing a book next time.
I Will be back!
Excellent menu containing fresh quality ingredients. Fantastic soups!! Great service and great value!!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
