Came here 2/16/2024.
I thought Francie was great, well-deserving of its one star. Somethings I didn't like in the food but it's personal preference. Food: Razor clams were incredibly funky and honestly a bit repugnant. I would avoid. It left a heavy seafood funk all over your palate. Ravioli was elegant and delicious. Pappardelle was a particular standout with heavy-hitting umami that is incredibly hard to achieve in a meat sauce. Conchiglie was too salty. The duck was expensive for what it was but presentation was incredible. Service: Service was well coordinated and synchronized. Waiters were knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Ambiance: Can't be beat. Ideal Brooklyn vibes and bustle. TLDR: Papparadelle and duck are pretty good. Try more apps and don't go family style. Portions are small.
Be the first to ReplyDuck was really good.
I honestly think this is a good bang for your buck. Others idk. I ordered a salad, and it was so tiny. I finished it in two bites. Service is a bit curt and I'd say rude at times... we get it. You work at a Michelin star restaurant, but please do away with the rudeness and coldness.
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant for seafood, pasta, and duck.
Had a few well made Old Fashioned's. Oysters and prawns for appetizers, the crab pasta and one of their special pastas, and the roast duck. All were fantastic and the service was excellent. The manager even came by and threw in a mushroom pasta on the house. Great, lively ambience. Definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAfter reading all the 5 star reviews for Francie, I can't
After reading all the 5 star reviews for Francie, I can't help but feel disappointed after my own personal experience. We came on a Monday night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Ambience was okay -- cozy and dimly lit, nothing too special. I ordered the Francie Sour cocktail, which was .. almost bad. It was super watered down. When this was brought up to our server, she apologetically offered me different drink free of charge. I really did enjoy the souffle cakes with seaweed butter, meyer lemon and caviar. The texture was very soft and fluffy. The conchiglie pasta was amazing. The clams, bacon, white sesame pangrattato worked perfectly well together. The biggest disappointment of the night was their famous duck. Presentation was aesthetically pleasing enough. The chef presented the duck to us on a bed of flowers. I thought he would cut it table side, but he took it back to the kitchen to cut then brought it back out on a plate. He then proceeded to explain the dish then abruptly stopped and had the server take over. Service was a little weird, almost uncomfortable. It was like a surface level nice. For a Michelin-starred establishment, I expected more. The duck itself was a bit boring, not crispy enough. I liked the parsnip pairing. I think this dish would be great for people who don't regularly eat duck. Overall, it was just okay. Get the souffle cakes and conchiglie pasta if you go.
Be the first to ReplyWow - what an experience.
This is a quality experience from start to finish. It was packed on our visit and quite loud so be prepared for vibrant conversations all around. We decided to go family style and had the carpaccio, bucatini and dry aged duck. Each dish was outstanding in their own way. The carpaccio was tender, flavorful and delicate - just amazing! The bucatini was just perfect with great herb flavor and a beautiful sauce. I was skeptical about the duck but am glad we got it. The presentation shown in pictures is exactly what we experienced. It was cooked very well had amazing flavor and was rich and meaty. If you're feeling adventurous, definitely try it. For dessert we shared the apple tart that was better than expected (I prefer chocolate desserts).

Absolute perfection Ambience: dark , sexy, wood panel with open view of kitchen at the back. Perfect for date night, celebrations, girls/ guys night. Reservations are a must. Service: impeccable from front of the house to servers. The maitre d'iva (love it) made you feel welcomed from the start. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable and the water glasses were never empty. Food: - i loved the bomboloni- high end savory donut bombs. It is a must get - my family loved the foie gras canale -oysters were good but overshadowed by above. - entrees the duck is worth the hype. I'm not a big fan of duck, but this duck was amazing with the accompanied side dishes perfectly complemented the duck. If they bring out the duck (genius for social media posts) and then cut it for you and serve it a few minutes later. we loved it and for two people we had plenty for leftovers. - apple tatin was very good - drinks were excellent (sidecar was great). Overall, we had a lovely time and can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyProbably more of a 4.
5 but I rounded up. Overall had a lovely dinner experience. Service was really attentive without being pushy. Cocktails are definitely very pricey but well made-- instead of trying to hide the alcohol taste, they highlight and complement it instead. Soufflé cakes were a nice mixture of sweet and savory, caviar added a burst of umami. Duck was one of the most beautifully presented dishes I've seen and indeed very well cooked. Skin perfectly crispy and meat juicy on the inside. I will say, the way the cut the duck makes it cool really quickly but that can't be helped. Not sure if it was better than the duck I've had at other high end restaurants but I really enjoyed it all the same. The mashed parsnips side dish was delicious, was less a fan of the accompanying greens.
Be the first to ReplyClearly, one comes for the roast duck and we were not
Clearly, one comes for the roast duck and we were not disappointed. The starters include the soufflé and bomboloni which were both excellent. We next had the pastas - rigatoni with sausage was perfectly spiced and hearty, and the pappardelle simply delicious! The cocktails were mixed well. And finally the service was great we felt well taken care of. We will be returning and that's for sure!
Be the first to ReplyAhhhh Francie, still dreaming about the epic Friendsgiving
Ahhhh Francie, still dreaming about the epic Friendsgiving meal I had in late November. The presentation of the shellfish trio (oyster/clam/shrimp) was exquisite, and the clam's horseradish parsley sauce was an inventive and memorable touch. Carpaccio and souffle cakes were revelatory, both transport you to another world with that first bite! Conchigle was the sleeper, which we ordered at the suggestion of the waiter. I preferred it to the lobster ravioli. Dry Aged Duck was gorgeous, although I didn't love it as much as I thought I would, same with Roman Sourdough. But yall, don't sleep on that cheese cart! It was bananas. The perfect way to end an indulgent meal. Let your waiter be your guide - we chose four, and he chose the fifth, which blew the doors of perception open to a new level. I think we had a sorbet type thing as well at the end, but I was too stuffed to participate. Best meal of 2023. Thanks, Francie, can't wait to visit again.

Where do I begin: One of The Best Meals I had in Years, Thanks to Chef Cipollone - Outstanding!! From the minute we walked in , hostesses and owner at the front to welcoming us, to a great seat facing the open kitchen. We started with cocktails that were right on spot. I had a Buffalo Trace Manhattan, Wifey had her usual Tito's and Ginger Ale no fruit and got them right. Next came wine, we ordered the Ridge Estate Cabernet 2020 to go with our starters. We ordered a couple (snacks), and the kitchen sent out surprises as well....All outstanding: soufflé cakes, foie gras canele, duck mortadella. Next we had Spanish duck chorizo, Wife had salad, also superb. I remembered another dish that came which was so earthy; pumpkins with truffle, it had outstanding flavors, highly recommend. We decided to try a pasta and it delivered, the agnolotti with a cream sauce filled with a parsley and celery root filling..ummm. The kitchen was nice ended and sent out another pasta; ravioli with lobster and a lobster American sauce...hitting every note of deliciousness. With the mains about to come we order another Cabernet, Bella Union from Napa Valley 2018. Entrees exceeded expectations, I had the Halibut and Wifey had the Porchetini. What can I say but delicious, I'm sure I'm missing a course here and there, but all I can say is a huge thank you to Chef, his crew and waitstaff for an unforgettable night. I will be returning as soon as I get the chance. I totally recommend this establishment, definitely a jewel.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has the best dry-aged duck in NYC! I've visited
This place has the best dry-aged duck in NYC! I've visited this place a few times already and I'll keep coming back! The dry-aged roast duck is a MUST eat and the entire tasting experience is fun and interactive. The servers usually bring the whole duck (with flower arrangements on the side) to the table for you to take photos before cutting them into slices. The portion is huge so if you're also ordering individual entrees and appetizers, I'd suggest to share the duck with 4-6 ppl. In addition to the duck, I also highly recommend the fois gras, clam pasta, sourdough bread + piggy butter, sundae for two and truffle ice cream. Cocktails are great too (and they also have non-alcoholic options). The restaurant has a rustic-chic vibe and I love the warm lighting + chandeliers in the room.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service! Celebrated an anniversary.
The waiter was extremely tentative and so was the entire staff. My water was quickly refilled. The courses arrived on time since I was extremely hungry. The sides that came with the duck entrees were very tasty. I wished those portions were bigger. They had a cheese cart! It was very cute to see all the cheeses on there. I got lost when they explained what cheese it was and where it was from. I love cheese so much, I would order all of them to sample but it was at the end of my meal so I wasn't too hungry. I decided to go with 3 types of cheeses. They were light in taste and not pungent like blue cheese. I can't believe they give you like a coat check ticket to pick up the leftover food that was packed to go. That was a first for me. Overall, it was a great dining experience and will visit again.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, never know what to expect when I see "New
Honestly, never know what to expect when I see "New American" food. This felt like an Italian French mix, and it was a fairly good experience. We ordered the Lobster Ravioli, Duck Bolognese Pappardelle, and the dry aged crown of duck. The ravioli was good but a bit small--only 3 pieces; I don't think that I would order it again. The pappardelle was really good, and I couldn't get enough. The duck... delicious!! It was really big too, they said it was good for two, but I think it could easily be too much for two. It was served with a small plate of greens and this sweet jam that went well with everything. I would recommend to anyone looking for good dry-aged duck in Williamsburg.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great date night here! We ordered:- roman army
We had a great date night here! We ordered:- roman army sourdough: this is a must get! Both the sunflower spread and whipped lardo were amazing (though lardo is probably not the healthiest thing to be eating)- lobster ravioli: I probably wouldn't get this again since it's a bit pricey at $34 and they only give you 3 pieces of ravoli. But the sauce was delicious and it's- worth trying at least once- dry aged duck: i'm OBSESSED. My boyfriend and I are both not normally huge fans of duck but this was phenomenal. They first bring the whole duck out to your table before bringing it back to the kitchen to cut it up. The meat had a perfect consistency, the presentation is on point and it is 100% worth the money.Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the mood for duck :)
Be the first to ReplyFrancie was excellent! The service was superb.
Waithelp and management work together in constantly watching over their guests to make sure they're always provided with first class service. And the food did not disappoint. We had a party of 3 and shared oyster appetizers, Roman army sour dough, rigatoni, and dry-aged crown of duck. Everything was delicious! The duck was a very generous portion which could easily feed 3-4 since we had other dishes. We also had the gelato for dessert which we all thought was more delicious than usual. Traveling from out of town, we were concerned about a dress code. We wore jeans and did not feel out of place. Dining here was such a great experience we will always remember. Thank you Francie!
Be the first to ReplyI had this on my radar ever since I started going to more
I had this on my radar ever since I started going to more restaurants in Brooklyn, so when I noticed there were open times for prime time dining for dinner, I just had to book it. When my friend and I arrived, we were met with a vibe that was extremely cozy and neighborhoody but with fine dining twist; honestly loved it. My friend and I were seated and were given the menu to peruse (which had both drinks and food for us to choose from), and after looking at the menu for a little bit, we were ready to dive straight in to our food adventure:Drinks:The Avenue - my first cocktail of the night, this was EXACTLY what I wanted: a fruity, refreshing, sweet drink. It was a bourbon-based cocktail, but I honestly could not taste the alcohol at all (perfect for me tbh). Very strong passionfruit flavor, which I loved, and would def come back here just for this drink!Jungle Bird - my second cocktail of the night, omgggggggggg this was just as good if not better! Again, so refreshing, sweet, and fruity, and also was presented so nicely in the glass! I could definitely taste the pineapple, and again, could not taste the alcohol at all and these are the cocktails I love the most. The drinks are absolutely fantastic, and I want to come back here to try even more!Food:Roman Army Sourdough - the first of our two appetizers we got...man. When I say this has to be some of the best bread I've ever had in my entire life, I mean it wholeheartedly because it was so. Damn. G O O D. The crust was extremely crispy with an amazingly satisfying crunch and crackle and cutting into it and pulling apart; just remembering that crackle makes me salivate. The bread was also paired with a sunflower seed spread and a whipped lardo (which was in the same of a pig's head), both being absolutely delicious and paired so nicely with the bread. 11/10 would get again, truly a spectacular start to our meal.Souffle Cakes - the second of our two appetizers...this was the perfect follow-up to the sourdough because MY. GOD. IT WAS SO GOOD. The souffle cakes themselves were so fluffy and soft; quite literally felt like I was biting into a soft pillow. But m a n...the seaweed butter with meyer lemon and topped with caviar was literally chef's kiss. SO SO delicious, paired perfectly with the cakes, and I really wish I could have had more because I just loved it so much. Also 11/10 would recommend, probably one of the best things I have had this year!Amberjack Mille Feuille - our one starter course of the evening, this was really good! I really liked the crispiness of each layer which went really nicely with the flavor of the amberjack. You could also distinctly taste the flavors of black truffle and seaweed in every bite which I definitely appreciated. I will say though that the portion itself was a little small, so although I loved it, I think I might also want to get an additional starter the next time I come.Ravioli - one of the two main courses that we ordered for the night, this was so delicious! The sauce that covered the ravioli was so umami and also slightly acidic and such a nice lobster flavor to it. I also really liked the texture of the pasta as well as the lobster filling. I will sat though that it was a tad pricey for the portion (it comes with three pieces), and I think I want to try some of their other pastas the next time I come, but regardless, still a very solid choice, and my friend and I really enjoyed it!Halibut a la Grenobloise - the other of our two main courses, this HAD to be one of my favorites of the night! The fish was so tender and honestly cooked perfectly, and it was covered in a nice sauce that was umami, salty, and acidic all at the same time. The black trumpet mushrooms were FANTASTIC, and so were the capers that were littered all over the dish. This has to be some of the best halibut I have ever had, and I would definitely get this again the next time I come!Dessert:Basque Cheesecake - the first of the desserts that my friend and I tried, this was spectacular. The texture was smooth and creamy with a nice light and citrusy flavor that I loved. There was also pistachio I believe at the bottom of the cheesecake along what I describe as citrus jelly that paired so wonderfully with the cheesecake. Absolutely wonderful, would DEF get this again!Pavlova - the second of the desserts we got, MAN I loved the cheesecake, but I literally ADORED this dessert. The crunchy meringue was a perfect accent to the creamy coconut custard, and those juice PINEAPPLE CHUNKS. Literally thinking about it is making salivate; I was so sad when my friend and I finished it so fast. Legit 11/10 would get again, amazing, can't even put it into words.Overall - the hype is real. I loved every second of it. The ambiance was great, the service was really good, and the food was SPLENDID. I am definitely back here again, and I definitely want to try their duck or beef the next time I am here!

After our recent birthday dinner at a restaurant, We left a private, short feedback on Resy for the restaurant regarding the desserts after a birthday dinner. However, we received a long, defensive, and accusatory email from the owner. Even after explaining our experience in more detail, it seems that the owner simply does not accept our criticism. Essentially, the message is clear: customers cannot have any negative opinions about their food. If you don't like the food, the owner suggests that you should not bother leaving any feedback. It appears that the owner does not care about negative feedback and will not accept it. On the other hand, they may even try to shift the blame onto the customer. The duck and the potato ball were pretty good. On other hand, The dessert (BABA AU RHUM) was pretty bad and my friends refuse to have second bite. Also, the lobster ravioli was somewhat dry on the inside and did not taste particularly fresh. I would say overall, it doesn't really worth it for the price. There were plenty of French restaurants in town that were delicious and welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed both the pasta and the duck, finding them
I enjoyed both the pasta and the duck, finding them exceptional and absolutely delicious. It's always great to hear when a restaurant is able to exceed expectations in terms of the quality and flavor of their dishes.Additionally, the service at Francie was good. It is always a plus when the staff is attentive and welcoming.Overall, I had a positive experience at Francie, with delicious food and good service. If you're looking for a restaurant with high-quality cuisine and a pleasant atmosphere, it's definitely worth considering a visit to Francie.

We had pasta this, specially these two dishes were amazing. The taste are very closed to Marea. Also love the cheese selection, lots great option from Hudson valley.------------------------------------Best place for having roasted duck in Williamsburg. Really juicy duck breast, however, the duck for two ( if you order other dishes, I recommend share this with 3-4 people) not come with the dick legs ever they show it as a entire duck. All other dishes are good too! Specially the pasta was very creaming and tasty.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend took me here to celebrate my birthday two nights
My friend took me here to celebrate my birthday two nights ago and I loved everything about it. From the service, to the open kitchen, the lightning and most importantly...the food which was simply superb! No detail was left to chance. Food presentation and taste were otherworldly. Not pictured here is the pavlova dessert which was very tasty as well. I have only praise for this restaurant. The general manager (Daniel) was super attentive and helped us make a second reservation as we were leaving - that is how great this place was! We can't wait to go back. Fantastic spot!
Be the first to ReplyWe were the first couple to be seated on a Friday.
Everything was perfect. The food, the drink, the service- all an amazing experience. My boyfriend and I travel for these high rated, hyped restaurants and Francie... let's just say the restaurant has become my favorite. We rarely go back to the same restaurant, but we'll be back for sure. By the way, the comments by John, the owner on these reviews are hilarious. I agree with him. It seems like most negative reviews are from those that were late, or charged for their missed reservation. Time management is important in all industry. This is NYC, yes traffic is crazy. Than manage your time properly, and show up on time.

The ambiance is exquisite and denotes a very intimate vibe, however, when you get into the dining room, it could get pretty loud. The spacious open kitchen at the end of the dining area is majestic and a spectacular sight to behold.
Be the first to ReplyWas really excited to try this place and though the food
Was really excited to try this place and though the food was great, the service and wait time for the food really fell short. I had a reservation for 8:45pm but ran about 15 minutes late due to unforeseen traffic and called ahead to let them know. Like most restaurants they were very understanding and informed us it would be ok as they had a 15 minute grace period which is standard. Our server took our water and drink order right away but took about 20 minutes to come back and take our food order. It took almost an hour for our starters to come out and over an hour for our 2 pastas to come out. Our server and management never came out to check up on us or apologize for the delay and we had to put in quite the effort to flag them down to ask what was going on. They apologized for the delay saying they were backed up and comped two drinks for the delay. By the time our main course came out it was 2 hours after we had arrived (you can confirm from the time stamps of my pictures from the first menu picture to the picture of the duck). The duck, bomboloni, duck papparadelli & twice cooked French fries were must orders for us. The oysters, rigatoni and soufflé cakes were just OK. Nothing we had was bad. All in all the food was really great but the service and wait time and friendliness of the management team was lacking. We left a 20% tip on top of our $300+ despite the long wait but for a Michelin star we expected better. Comping 2 drinks for a wait that long and for how much we ordered does not seem as gracious as the management team made it. Definitely worth a try for the food but just make sure to expect a 2+ hour experience.
